    I've driven through Wetaskiwin many times on the way to Camrose. It really is a shame that the city has gotten worse. I feel for the people that live there. A lot of controversy over the Hope Shelter. Nobody seems to know what to do about the problem. The solution is not an easy one.

    • @livinginalbertanow
      @livinginalbertanow  5 місяців тому +1

      There is no easy solution that is for sure. And I agree, many years ago I drove through and actually camped at the city park. There were zero homeless people and no drug problems. It has gotten insanely bad for residents and no solutions in place.

      It has gotten significantly worse in the last 3 to 4 years. Most criminals know, nothing happens to them. Its basically a a catch and release policy. In Toronto, for example, they just told people to leave their keys to their vehicles out so that when someone robs them and steals their vehicle it is easier and less violent.

    We moved from Calgary NE to Wetaskiwin almost 3 years ago. A huge improvement in lifestyle, such a nice little town. No problem so far, nice neighborhood and it feels safe. BS. Do you live here for how LONG then??? I live here for 13 years and never experienced any troubles!!! Homelessness is mostly in First Nation population - the reserve is half an hour's drive south. So if you account for all that crime that is happening there then you get those numbers that you show. In our part of city we had only one stealing.... from left unlocked garage haha. The business robbery was in this time 2 all done by guys out of the city.

    • @livinginalbertanow

    Hello, I live in Wetaskiwin and this video is a complete nonsense from somebody who doesn't live here and this person is just looking for attention and gave this video an ugly title so that people watch it. The Alberta unemployment rate in 2024 is 6.2% which is fairly low and yes here is a serious labor shortage for all those guys who think this is a hoax it's not. Check out the Canadian Job Bank and you will see for example there are about 5000 jobs advertised for Light Duty Cleaners etc.

    • @livinginalbertanow
      @livinginalbertanow  5 місяців тому +9

      It is all backed by facts from statistics Alberta and RCMP database. In addition, there is a declining population as people exit the community, leaving an aging population behind. Please refer to the University of Alberta and University of Calgary study on the area. You can also simply check out downtown. It is slowly dying, or you can simply check out real estate listings to see how many people are exiting the community.
