I really appreciate this video! I am someone who cannot paint with oil and cold wax because of the fumes, unfortunately,. I love that technique very much. I have experimented with the water based cold wax (Powerwax) and acrylic, but don't find it as satisfying because the acrylic dries so fast which makes it difficult to excavate the layers and see the history underneath. Also, it seems like you need to use a lot more acrylic paint to get it to glide. What ratio do you use for the acrylic and water-based wax? I look forward to your next video and hopefully learn what else I can do. You are a very talented artist! Thank you.
Thank you your message! I used Powerwax as well, and Open Acrylics, that helped a bit with the drying time. I think I used half paint half medium, sometimes maybe a bit less medium. I am enjoying the exploration of this medium but I don't think you can have the richness and the depth of the oils and cold wax medium. That said, I think there are lots of fun possibilities! I will experiment with ink next I think, or try to do a veil with a brayer, see if I can achieve that with acrylics and the water based medium. Happy holidays and there will be new videos in 2024!💖
Thank you for your reply and for sharing what you use. I agree that the depth is not the same as oils, unfortunately. I really miss that! I look forward to your other videos and learning more. Blessings to you this Christmas.
you can use any acrylics but since I am originally an oil painter I thought Open acrylics might be better because they have a longer drying time. In my first video on water based cold wax I used fluid acrylics which was fine but since the cold wax isn’t very thick either I found the mix too thin so I added some marble dust to give it some more body

Just the information I've been looking for... detailed process and comparison of oils versus acrylics is great! Bedankt!

What tool are you using in this video? I'm going to give cold wax a try!
I am using a bowlscraper and paletteknife. I have made an art supply guide which you can find here: marinatvbart.myflodesk.com/znanu1xddr
Great demo! Do you know where you got the stencil(s) that have small swirls?
It was from Amazon, they come in 8 different patterns if I remember well. Look for ‘tile stencils’ and you ll find lots!
15:27 do u need to use Open Acrylics for water based wax?

What is the tool that has multiple wires fanned out. You use it at 3:12 minutes into the video.
It is called a 'hairbrush cleaner', you can find it when you google it. Love it for making textures!
Great demo thank you. Looking whereto sign up to get more info. Pat Dixon
