Thank You .. Loved your four abstracts & process of getting to the finish. Your instruction is excellent. I am 100% new to the cold wax medium & can hardly wait to try. Will be watching more of your abstract videos.
I love your work. I learned so much just from this one video. What are you using as your pallet to put your paint on? You inspire me so much. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us.
I’ve tried using cold wax with my oil paintings, but it always looks like a hot mess! I see that I need to get one of those scrapers. You don’t seem to let the oil layers drive very long. Is this because they dry more quickly with the wax?
I love this! Thank you!! Would "cold wax" be equivalent to gel medium in acrylics? .. or at least similar Do you ever work with acrylic and just prefer oil?
@@wagedj thank you for replying. This confuses me though. Acrylic mediums come in matte, satin, or gloss and many/most are 100%transparent. At least that's the way I understand it.
Hi Linda. I paint on my own panels that I make from either 1/4 or 1/2” maple plywood. I prep them with GAC 100 then gesso. Glad the video inspired you! Sorry for late response.
Are you using any adhesive in ur mix? If not, then its no suprise because paper will not adhere to oil or wax if anything it prevents adhesion. Gesso has a lil bit of adhesive in its mix but i dont believe it to be enough to adhere paper however if it did i think the water in the gesso would crinkle ur paper. Try some ordinary white glue in ur medium and add acrylic paint to tone the color to ur liking. This is just my advise its hard to suggest any tips without knowing what ur trying to make but with things related to art; its a trial and error kind of thing. Best of luck in ur creative journey and happy new year!🙂

I found you on Facebook, and am glad that I did! I’m working with cold wax at the moment, and found this really informative. Thank you! 😊

How do you finish or varnish your work? I’ve tried using cold wax but it lifted the paint.
Did I miss the size of the wood panels? 8x8?
Loved your video! How do you varnish or finish your work. I tried using cold wax but it lifted the colour. Perhaps I didn’t let it dye long enough??

Very instructive video. So I guess you frame your painting with the white edges around it?
I do. The white border is part of the composition.
What are you using for a palette?
I love this! Thank you!!

Do you ever work with acrylic and just prefer oil?
No. It’s quite different. A more matte finish and transparent.

Do you end up framing these?
Just starting out in this medium, loved your video and inspiration. Are you using regular artist panels?

Why wouldn't you paint directly onto the wood?
How long do you let a color dry before you add the next one?
Wow !!!
I’m having trouble getting paper collage to stick to the oil and cold wax!
