Not exactly.
The Philistines were Greeks who were part of the Sea People. After being defeated by the Egyptians, the Pharoah saw their usefulness as warriors so gave them the Gaza Strip to act as a buffer for any future invasions of Egypt from the Levant. They were illiterate so ya, they didn't leave a record behind.
@@isaacgriffin5690 Yeah they were very likely Greeks and other Aegean people like the Lycians who resorted to piracy when their economies and societal structures collapsed. It makes sense since they were already a sea faring people who raided, pillaged and fought as mercenaries around the Mediterranean. "The Sea Peoples" may have even sacked Troy.
It's crazy that it's called the bronze age because they mostly do Greek stuff and they were like, dark white
Mediterranean bronze age vikings
History do repeat itself every few centuries.
Though there were old speculation that many had iron weapons…
Either that or early forms of Iron weapons (maybe low tin bronze or copper) were adopted in response to bronze shortages.
Best historian quote, "The Egyptians carefully recorded their victories against the sea people, the thing is that each of it was sucesively closer and closer to their capital"
that goes hard as fuck
Oh my, sea men are all over us...
ahaa
Hey look! The pharo has seaman on his back!
Ah yes the most mysterious civilization in Human history. Don't who they were, where they came from, just that they were REALLY good coastal raiders that hailed from somewhere in the Mediterranean.
Well we have some idea of where they came from.
Sardinia, Sicily, Greece. They weren't a unified culture. More so a confederation of convenience that likely would have added to its # from the country folk after sacking the local city. Or perhaps the locals had rebelled against their local nobility and sought out the Sea People or the "Sea People" weren't even one people and was instead several waves of mass migrants fleeing natural disasters
The Phoenicians paying island barbarians to pillage the Bronze Age civilizations who keep turning the levant into a battle royale.
the greeks at it again
The scientists and engineers arrive
How could you be blind not to see the people coming from the sea, the Hittites didn’t stand a chance
Mediterranean Illegal Immigrant Experience
Proceeds to completey ignore my fortified coastline and goes down into the Nile to be destroyed in Kush. Pretty lame invasion.
As long as it aint my lands getting pillage im very happy.
Time to collapse the Bronze Age
Are sea people greek?
No one really knows
It’s possible
But they also could’ve been from North Africa
@@ztcgamer9652 I will assume and suggest that they come from what we know as Greece. (among other places). But as you said. We dont know. Which makes it even more thrilling!!!
They were most likely a mix of Sardinians, Macedonians, and many other people along the Mediterranean. Think of them less as one ethnic group, but a confederation of several, similarly to the European Huns that wouldve come much later
Phoenician defamation league
They were multiple ethnicities
