- This is a compilation of all the clips containing General Modula, the main antagonist of Sym-Bionic Titan, a show that aired on Cartoon Network in 2010 and has unfortunately since been canceled.
I do not own any of the footage used in this video. All clips are owned by Turner EST and the show itself was created by Genndy Tartakovsky.
If you do like the show, please support it legally to encourage the creation of a second season.

If Samurai Jack got its second chance, Symbionic Titan can to.
It's not a matter of can or cannot. I'd say ABSOLUTELY given the story's incompleteness.
I doubt it they written it off as a tax write off like they did with MegasXLR, Beware the Batman and Final Space
@@gabeherndon2415 Well it did air on Netflix a few years back. Maybe it can come back on streaming.
@@biggamer18 well if it doesnt, then its off to pirate life
Yes, one can hope.
I like how he started out not killing any of his subordinate's who failed him but as the series goes on and his frustration grows he starts killing them left right and center.
He goes full-on Darth Vader.
I mean, that's annoying either way. It's such a lame way to make someone seem intimidating. It worked with Vader because he only killed those he tasked with very important things and was supposed to basically be a "don't fuck this up or you will be replaced and there won't be second chances" sort of thing.
Now people just use it as a cheap way to intimidate.
@@PANCAKEMINEZZSounds to me like you're just complaining that a trope is being used at all rather than how it's being executed.

Love that they can’t say “kill” but they can straight up break a guys neck.
God, man, I dont really remember symbiotic titan too much cause I was kinda getting tired of cartoon network at the time (growing up sucks) but watching the part of him killing that one loyalist with his bare hands made me think of how absolutely insane it is to not let people who may have a good vision for a series actually make what they want due to censorship or fear of backlash blah blah blah.
One of the best cartoon series ever, Batman TAS, was full of violence and dark themes and death....AND KIDS LOVED IT!!! Kids understand what goes on in the world to an extent, they arent stupid, they WANT to see good writing and get sucked into the drama, the emotion, the storytelling.
God, it just saddens me that NO cartoon producer now would EVER let something like that scene fly, and its only been a decade since this show aired...
Cause it was implied since they didn’t actually show him do it, thats what we call a loophole
6:14 16:42 Are you sure about that?
He didn't snap that man's spine like a twig, he... "defeated" the structural integrity of his anatomy.
Wiggle room to say he cracked his neck to knock him out or put him in a sleeper hold with extra strength
I have a theory that Mondula is actually dead and that hat of his, isn't actually a hat but some sort of brain worm that is controlling Mondula's corpse into some sort of queen hive. Having a hat that can cast tech magic and move where Mondula goes feels strange but familiar? If the show got another season, I'd expect Illana to accidentally knock the hat's disguise off while battling him and see the gruesome parasite teeth-deep in Mondula's head-meat. If our human-alien duo are physiologically similar to us humans, that must mean Mondula is susceptible to the same limits of us humans?
My theory is that the real Modula is the one that repaired Octus when he was dead or damaged.
since the one who repaired it never shows his face, only a robotic implant hand, I mean Salomon's superior, the power behind G3.
Or it could be a technical introduction into his brain, we were not just told that the conspiracy against the monarch was being prepared for a huge amount of time, perhaps behind the resurrected Modula there are forces much larger, we have already been shown other enigma in this story. Perhaps they wanted to make a cruel tyrant and dictator out of him in order to conquer all worlds and instill fear and despair in everyone, because before that his character was completely different, but he became arrogant and cruel, but in fact he is only part of the plan and only one of the tools. Perhaps behind everything there are not even aliens, but the upper classes of their state, the military and imperialists, eager to redivide the universe, destroy competitive ones like us, and other goals. It is terrible to imagine that his consciousness and memory have remained the same, but technical intervention completely changes whether he wants it or not and he only has to succumb to his new nature of a tyrant.

Underated scene
Back in the day I was used to believe that this would be a forshadowing that the series may one day returne.
Still haven't given up hope on the matter.
I remember that scene sticking in my head for months after watching it as a kid. Ten year old me was stocked by the brutality.
I was 12 when this came out but i wasn't real into it though but eventually i did.
Always thought he wasn't the real General but an alien under his hat driving him like a car.

It is an acceptable and possible theory, since the true Modula would not have betrayed Galaluna.

I like that about him
This show was wrongly denied the justice it so deserved. It could've been Genndy's greatest master piece.
Agreed. Maybe one day
Everyone was calling me a conspiracy theorist when thsi was airing because I saw it in the cards that CN was going to screw this show over. The lack of merchandise, the constant timeslot changes, and the general lack of promotion from the network itself was setting this show's fate in stone but NO, I was crazy. Agree, or at minimum the hat is manipulating him.
From the flashbacks we see that he is a noble and honorable soldier, with seemingly a good heart.
This theory is backed up by his name. Modula. like modula unblongota. which is were brain and spinal chord connect and breathing and heart rate is controled

The best case scenario for a Sym Bionic Titan continuation is by comic book adaptation.
I understand that the animation is what gave Sym Bionic Titan its charm and epic battles but I'm certain Genndy can excel in being a comic writer and artist if he applies himself. If only he weren't so busy.
For what's worth, they did that with Samurai Jack. It even had a loose ending where we find out that everything works out but we don't see how. Similar to the ending of the episode with the time portal guard.
I swear I remember he did a Luke Cage comic before
Genndy sure knows how to make awesome antagonists.

This show deserves a comeback. Primal is a good example of why Genndy should be allowed to continue this story.
I always thought something was inhabiting his body, like it was being used as a puppet by some being that was the true leader. The king did say he was Dead so I believe this is a viable theory
I was hoping it’d be a reversal. They’d get the big fight, and they knock the hat off, it’s alive, it was attached to his head, it’s bleeding and writhing and they kill it… and the fight is right back on because it was him. The creature was an implant with many uses but he was always the one in control. seemed so obvious I was hoping it wouldn’t be.
Perhaps, but, given how it was implied that he was loyal for years, possibly several decades, it seems odd that he would suddenly turn on everyone he swore to protect, if this is the case, there better be a damn good reason for it, though; simply wanting power would certainly count as one in my eyes.

He sounds like he became giant a space tumor attached to a space station
@evilmiera That's actually two different voice actors. General Modulo is voiced by Don Leslie. The voice actor from Starcraft/Diablo is voiced by Paul Eiding who also does the voice for Colonel Campbell for the Metal Gear series as well as Max Tennyson. They sound very similar, though.
@@MalleusSemperVictor Thanks!
@@MalleusSemperVictor damn i was right for thinking the VA is the same as grandpa max
I agree with the theory that it's actually Modula's dead body controlled by an alien claiming to be a former general's hat. I like the fact that we don't see the general's eyes allowing for the reveal.
I think he's still alive but the same method is there; alien control.
@@SuperCosmicMutantSquid It depends on whether Tartakovsky will be able to renew the license to create this series.
Well, that understands it all.
I would argue that, based on the personality change from what he was like when he was younger, it’s likely that General Modula, as we see here, is not the same Modula from the past; as if something - or someone - has altered him.
It’s likely he did “die,” in a sense, but was brought back to life in some form and altered to be less “Modula, the loyal general to the King” and more “The Tyrant Modula.” I wouldn’t doubt that he is, in truth, in a symbiotic relationship of his own with some form of creature that has been feeding the negative emotions (that of anger and vengeance) in exchange for keeping him alive.
It would be rather fitting for a show built upon the idea of symbiotic relationships for the antagonist to be in such a relationship. However, where the heroes are in a positive symbiotic relationship (one that is mutually beneficial), the villain is in a negative symbiotic relationship (one that is malignant or outright parasitic).
Kind ironic .
Unlike most villains, this one at least he does admit that he might be delusional and he could be beaten someday.
The hat he's wearing is a mind controller alien taking over his body that's the fan theory
Still thinking that hat hides something

Lol no. His original shows are terrible, Titan just got cancelled before the cracks started to show.
I have been looking forward towards seeing Modulas'backstory since 2011.
Even if the show may never returne, I still hope that perhaps some day in the future we might get a revival where the original voice actors returne.
Okay, I can not be the only one who looks at this guy's face and thinks "I have been waiting for you Starfox."
He looks kind of like Andross, is what I am saying.

Clones aren't out of the picture completely. And it's a staple of fiction.
Actually, he looks more like Mojo Jojo.
No he looks like skips
General Modula's hat might secretly be a Mutratti creature possesing him.
Well, in the flashback episode where a young Lance gets into trouble at the Military Academy, we do see a good Modula with visible eyes and before he obtained his hat.
I miss this show, my dad actually got me into it when I was a kid and we would spend our afternoons together watching it. Hopefully one day the show will be finished and we can continue that hobby of ours again
General Modula is such an awesome and unique rendition of the super robot / sentai anime villain. Instead of someone who has always been evil, the general is a a man who was once good and honorable who turned bad due to some major disaster. His origin reminds me somewhat of the General from The Gunmen Chronicles. It's still a mystery as to whether Modula is mind-controlled by an alien parasite or if he is acting of his own free will. What is certain is that Modula is not the same man as he was before he was left for dead, we never see his eyes underneath that hat, and his hat is alive. If he chose to be bad, he might've modified his body with biological alien enhancements given to him by the Mutraddi, including the hat. He certainly managed to get some of his Galalunan officers to turn traitor somehow, and they don't seem to be possessed by alien parasites.
Whatever his origin, it's cool to see a Voltron-like villain whose motivations and origins are other than being a villain who has always been evil. I also like that he looks like a 19th century Russian officer, and fights like a superhuman martial arts master. And the monsters he sends are very creative variations of the monsters you'd see in super robot anime or sentai dramas.
If Sym-Bionic Titan gets revived, I'm curious as to what Modula's full story would be. If Modula ever gets defeated, maybe other villains would emerge to take his place. It'd be nice to give the Titan heroes a variety of alien warlords to face if the show progresses after Modula is no more.
And this show should get a toy licence and made them for kids and renewed a couple of seasons and episodes
We really need this series to be revived.
Facts
Thigh highs with spurs? He truly is a planetary conqueror
Tartakovski knew how to do villians Like grievous in clone wars, the fear and the power, the fear to failed in mission and be killed by him
I loved the theory that the real Modula was dead, and this is actually a possessed corpse using his memories and skills to overthrow the king and take over his kingdom. it would explain why we never see his full face. it's always hidden under the bill of his hat. plus, the king keeps insisting that Modula was killed, and Modula does say, "Well, not quite dead."
This is a corpse on puppet strings. if it was true, this would have been one of the darkest characters Gennedy has made yet.
Now write me an ending because I truly do love that theory
Even if the show doesn't get a second chance, I'd love if Genndy told us what his plans for the rest of the series were
Put it to comic form at least.
Who else really….REALLY HATES BARON. And the fact that apparently a sci-fi military school doesn’t have security cameras…
Galaluna strikes me as sci fi mixed with old monarchy era of humanity (they probably felt that cameras were unnecessary since they have guards, which raises another question, where the f*ck were the guards stationed near the giant robots)
@Sebastien Gendron Probably because of the celebration. I'm not sure what modern or 18th 19th century military protocol for that matter dictates about having personnel on guard duty during a base inspection or a parade. At least you would expect them to lock up first lol
I have the feeling that if the show had continued we would have seen him again and he probably would have been the kind of guy who would have joined up with the enemy. Although it also would have been a really f****** twist if it turned out he was loyal and Arthur was the traitor.
Yeah especially since Baron hated Lance Moment he arrived and bullied him even though he was well aware that Lance just lost his father
I never knew how dark and brutal this show was
General Mondula starts out strong but gradually becomes one note. He keeps sending monsters when he should just do it himself
An unfortunate consequence of being canned. He probably coulda done a lot more had this series continued.
He was probably mainly focused on conquering other planets and crushing what resistance remained and so couldn't allow for any distractions. If the show had gone on for longer I bet that at some point Mondula would either have gotten pissed off enough to finally go himself or he would be able to personally go once he had absolute control and had defeated all enemy forces.
And immediately leaves the inhabitants to rebel against his forces?
@@HarleyQuinn-vb5dmOoh, one way I'd see the final battle going down is having that hat he wears mutate itself and the General into a singular being that has bits and pieces of every monster that Titan or even The Hammer defeated over the course of the series, so it'd be more of a case of endurance and trying to pry the general away from that hellish cap before it completely devours his biomass or something.
Genndy made some hardcore shit and Cartoon Network just let him cook. Better times.
Seriously underrated show. Big love letter to 70's anime.
I knew this had something like that, the art style reminded me a lot of Dororo
No joke, This happen to be one of the only Animated series that's much like anyone else says that it's a lot more meant for older audiences than just the younger generations.
I like that he says "maybe" when ever the protagonists say he is wrong about something, but than he states the facts of the matter, he knows he is not infallible but he often is winning when he is acused.

The King is jacked

It’s a shame that this show got canceled. It had potential to be one of the greats.
I used to love all the shows that played on the Friday night programming block, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Generator Rex, Ben 10: Alien Force. I just wish I watched this show week to week to help boost its ratings
Sadly the success was based on how many toys it sold.
For some reason, i think that maybe Modula would had a similar background like the Clone Trooper Echo from Star Wars Clone Wars.
By the fact that during a mission, both soldiers seemingly perished in an explosion, to the point of that their corpses disappeared. But will be revealed that both somehow survived, and were caught by the Mutraddi and Separatists, whom made Modula and Echo in their weapons, making them turned on their former allies of Galaluna and the Republic.
Though that for the cancellation, we'll never learn if Modula was truly brainwashed, like Echo.

In a very real sense General Modula is the same kind of character as General Iroh from Avatar the last Airbender. Both military generals of great might and renown, loyal to their government, and caring for their fellow man. The difference is that when they are tested by a significant loss at war, Iroh the death of his cherished son during the first siege of Ba Sing Se, and Modula his being marooned on a hostile and foreign planet, Iroh turns to selfless servitude of the greater good and Modula turns to selfish service of his own power and revenge. Both are men possessed of a balanced masculinity and awareness of their own strengths and limitations.

How would the bomb thing even work? I mean, I get that it has a self destruct adaptation. And one strong enough to scare the large monsters of the setting. But those kinds of defenses only work when there are enough survivors to realize what even happened, and to learn to avoid it. And if the planet is destroyed, then its wipes its own kind out.
