Lol because? Because man, shit was simpler back then. It was more fun. PS2 had a whole list of fun games, Xbox had more online fun, and the graphics were superior. Gamecube had a lot of memorable party games. No DLC's, just buy the game, and play.
Prodigy I agree. PS2 and GameCube days was awesome. Back when games weren't just about graphics, DLC, updates, and local multiplayer was much more fun. Gaming today is still cool but I'll never forget the N64, GameCube, and many other consoles back in the day. Gaming just isn't the same.
All consoles of 1997 to 2003 have gotta be the best ones. Waking up at 5 am and running to the TV to play FinalFantasyVII on the PS1 and SSB Melee will always be the "good times" for me!!!
Brings back chills hearing that sound of there being no disk in. All I had was a GameCube for 7 years and it was fucked up so it would barely read disks. Ahhhh memories
I never found the menu music creepy. I always thought it was relaxing. Also, I found the startup to always be pretty funny, especially with the Z button easter eggs.
When my GameCube was still working, I looked at the calendar, and seeing the current year ached my heart. It feels like the system isn't aware that Nintendo has moved on to creating new systems.
Wow, I loved the GameCube. It was a great system. I used to play The Incredibles and Mario Kart on my old GameCube. It really was ahead of its time. Sadly, in 2007, the console discontinued. So many memories as a kid, and I still have it today.
i always was creeped from the start till i started a game i am happy i never started the gamecube in the night but the sega intro for games is the most creepy intro ever in my opinion
The GameCube will always be my top favorite console, especially since it was my first one ever. Hopefully the next Nintendo console can do something unique like this in its menus and stuff.
I find it interesting that on PAL GameCubes, you can change the language, and the datestamp goes by dd/mm/yy unlike on the NTSC GameCubes where the datestamp goes by mm/dd/yy. The clock still has a 24 hour format on NTSC.
Lots of different languages in PAL region. English; French; German; Italian; Spanish; Danish; Norwegian; Swedish; Finnish; Czech; Po.......................................
If I could go back in time, I would tell Nintendo, "Look, everything about the Nintendo Gamecube is perfect. It is really such a beautiful, astounding, cute and impressive gaming device, but how about you make this options menu a cheerful, bright white. Also, put some cute or fun music in! Your freaking nickname for your project was "dolphin", so treat it that way. You have no business in making players think theyre gonna have to get existential while they're setting the internal clock".
one thing i remembered as a kid is playing smash bros melee and unlocking characters without a memory slot and when I turned it off I always had to unlock the characters again.

Let’s be honest,we’ve always dreaded seeing the menu appear when a game was in it (meaning that the disk or system were damaged and if the disk was scratched)
Sinoc the Hodgeheg I think there's a likely chance of that happening due to the nes and snes classics out now and already rumors of a classic n64 being made
I miss consoles having really neat interactive features like this. Makes me sad that a lot of current consoles just have basic scroll wheels. Even the switch just has a hot bar of games you scroll through.
I remember owning a gamecube when I was around 5 and being scared of the menu. but now that i have grown up, this menu is incredibly nostalgic for me. Every sound including the menu music, to how the menu looks. Its incredibly satisfying and honestly relaxing. Makes me ashamed that i sold my gamecube when I was 9 because I found out my wii can play gamecube games. I'm heavily considering getting a gamecube again just to experience this gem of a menu.
I remember this on the old tv in the room outside of my house there was a family gathering, and my dad took me and my cousin to go and play the GameCube.
Oh, the good old memories of this console, like, this will always be my favourite console that I will ever played as an little kid, so yeah. Good times doesn’t it? :)
I still own a gamecube i'm glad i still have it, it is a good game console in my opinion. It is stunning and its MENU/ BIOS are unique unlike the newer consoles. The Gamecube's MENU/ BIOS is very nice to mess around with (I mean i done it- ) and the music in the BIOS/ MENU's background is very calming. I like the sound when you roll the cube it sounds nice
Update : Lately I have been playing legend of zelda : collectors edition's "Ocarina of time" on my gamecube, might end up finally beating ocarina of time???

Gamecube is great. The first Nintendo console to have games that don't crash as easily as the cartridge systems. And then we have the Wii, which is fortunately backwards-compatible, but the newer Wii U sadly is not.
I miss when developers actually chose memorable music for their console intros and menu. Even with OS like Windows, remember the days of Windows 95. Now you have no proper shut down sound or start-up.
+epic troll Get a Wii (none of the new ones like the blue Wii) from 2006 if you just want to play GameCube games with Wii games, otherwise if you want the menu, then buy a regular Gamecube (I have both.)
You can get the menu by using a GameCube loader called Nintendon't. Only problem is that it requires a hacked Wii and some games (such as the PAL version of Kirby Air Ride) have issues loading with the menu.
