  • SEPARATED BY ADOPTION WEB SERIES -
    In this episode I share my mother's long awaited Ancestry DNA test results, and compare them to my own. If you been following this series, the results will shock you.
    People lie, DNA tells the Truth!
    UPDATE - I did this because I do not know my family. My mom is adopted. This isn't a test to prove how white I am or whatever. to validate skin color. If you cannot relate or sympathize with a person trying to find their ancestors this video is not for you.

    She's actually had that face and attitude the entire time so I don't get folks that are saying she seems dissapointed. It's a teen thing, trust me I have one. Her mom is more excited than she is, it's kind of funny 😂

    Most Europeans have some trace of African and almost all african americans have traces of white. In the end we are all the same. one race, with different sun blockers.

    • @millerstation92
      @millerstation92 6 років тому +30

      no,most europeans dont score more than 0.8-0.2 and most africans subsahrans africans are 100% african

    • @patrikmauritskronholm4684
      @patrikmauritskronholm4684 6 років тому +6

      still there are traces, and we are not working with much dna from the start, as the differs are so small. You are not 100% african, you have 100% african trace genes. The traces genes are less then 0,2%. So we are more then 99.9% the same all of us.

    • @msmorningstar2116
      @msmorningstar2116 6 років тому +10

      Kimberly York,
      Untrue. Only 1-3% of white Americans have black genes. And the 3% is in Georgia.
      This means 97-99% of white Americans have no black genes.
      You're either black or a liberal or a Jew. All anti-white. 😂😘

    • @patrikmauritskronholm4684
      @patrikmauritskronholm4684 6 років тому +4

      To start with, all americans and humans for that part share 99.99 % of genes. What is counted here is trace genes less 0.2 % of the total genes. So yes you share the same genes as black. UN decided in 1950 that there are bo base or proof of different races among humans.

    • @patrikmauritskronholm4684
      @patrikmauritskronholm4684 6 років тому +10

      Natasha Swain skin tone can be deceiving though. There are black African ppl who are 100% African and are still light skinned. For example I'm her skin tone, but my parents all the way back to my great great great great grandparents are black and I'm light as heck with 85% African ancestry and 10% European according to my test. I also have curly wavy hair, but mine is jet black.

This test is done through the University of Michigan, and you are helping science with research on genetic diseases.

      Amber Westholder I found this explanation at the URBAN DICTIONARY websitr for the "brown paper bag testing" An actual test, along with the so-called ruler test in common use in the the early 1900s among upper class Black American societies and families to determine if a Black person was sufficiently white to gain admittance or acceptance. If your skin was darker than a brown paper bag, you did not merit inclusion. Thousands of Black institutions including the nation's most eminent Black fraternity -- Phi Alpha Phi, Howard Univiersity, and numerous church and civic groups all practiced this discriminiation. The practice has 19th Century antecedants with the Blue Blood Society and has not totally died out.

      LENORE PROVIDENCE back in elementary school I had this one friend who was only allowed to play with me because I passed the brown paper bag test. When I got home and had told my Mom about this and everything else that happened in school. My Mom became very angry and wanted to know the girl's name. I told her and she called the girl's Mother and told her that it wasn't a good thing to teach her child that and if I wasn't good enough to play with before the test then I can't play with her now.
      This happened in the late 60's, early 70's when parents were able to talk to one another about kids. I've remembered this story because Mom was so against the test and told me why she felt the way she did. It was because they were going through so much hate from other people and instead of being together we were driving each other apart by doing the brown paper bag test.

    I am 1/2 white, 1/2 native, worrying about whiteness or blackness levels isn't a healthy mindset. Your daughter is bothered by not being "blacker" hard for her to hide. My kids understand that there is really no race but the human and there are hundreds of different shades and ethnicity and culture. She needs to enjoy the different types of "white " she is....learn about her people on both sides. And not every black person who has white in them was forced, you never know if your people were in fact in love and the world was against them. My parents were like that.

      LOL...my daughter doesn't really care. In my opinion, "an unhealthy mindset" is telling people how they should act, or how they should feel.
      She's the most unaffected person in this video and you are exuding more emotion and judgment than the three of us.
      If she wants to identify as a black woman, that's cool with me because its HER choice, HER life and obviously, she is well aware of her European ancestry as her grandmother is white. It is what it is.

    I know this video has been up for a while, but I just saw it today. I knew in my heart there would be “some” that saw your daughters reaction as a negative for not being more black. That isn’t what she said nor was it how she acted. As a young person, she could have come unglued about the whole report. But she didn’t. I was amazed at how comfortable she was in HER skin no matter where the skin came from. She really had no reaction and said I just thought I would be more black, speaking of percentages. She didn’t say she needed to be. You are both beautiful. I would have never known you were mother and daughter. What an exceptional job you have done raising her to love herself. That is the most valuable lesson in life. Love who you are!! This was the very best video I have watched! Thanks for sharing your beautiful daughters heritage. 💖💖💖💖

    I've seen a few of these DNA videos and the more I see the more pride I have as an American. These women have found out what they probably all ready knew but chose to suppress with good reason. Racism exist in our country for sure, but let this be an example of how childishly silly it is and how as Americans we can be proud of our heritage and be proud of our country and the same time. So much of our American history is negative but that is what made us and like it or not here we are. Live with it, embrce it, and whatever the percentage, be proud of it. Our republic can still be the greatest example of a free people that ever graced the surface of this planet. Together we will get there. Only together can we get there.

Why is being white such an dissapointment or almost like an insult? It's part of YOU if you are GREAT then so is that part...or am I missing something? It happens video after video...Is it like Hitler finding out he's jewish kinda thing? Is it that much prejudice? Video after video...its such a natural reaction with AMERICAN blacks. I understand being shocked but dissapointed just strikes me as a some racist social/cultural EXPECTATION. It would be unacceptable to embrace it publicaly that is my guess. Don't get me wrong African roots are Awesome! Its just that the reaction of these videos makes me think that people really think its race that makes them superior. Anyone who thinks that is obviously misguided-- Regardless of their race. Ok thats my 2 cents. Lol

      Hale Berry, Hi Hale, It sound like you are speaking for the heart and I respect that, personally I wish white American wouldn't spent so much time and money on blocking other race of people from getting ahead in life. I'm sure you would as well have a problem with me If every time you try to make a living for your family and I block you from being successful in your goals, you would have a problem with me, and rightfully you should. So Hale's if you sense hostility sometimes it coming from years of being mistreated from a country you paid tax to!

      victor phillips its a good point when everyone around you says/believes that. Of course I can only see things from my experience and I have seen different things than that...I worked FOR- as well as a long side black folks. So for me it's hard to imagine that scenario. I lived in suburban area with pretty much all black folks at that time in an area that my white friends and siblings could never afford. I know that is not always the case, but I guess its hard for me to see it as a black/white problem. But my point has more to do with how can we hate ourselves? You can't help if you have white or black in you just like other white folks can't help that they're white... during the Civil War my white relatives killed their own people because the inequality of slaves and blacks was seen as WRONG, and equality for all people minus hatred is the only sort of Justice they believed in. I just don't come from a predjudice family. My ancestry says I'm 100% European, honestly I was dissapointed too but because I thought that was pretty boring I was looking for variety lol. Meanwhile my children are mixed with everything from every continent but mostly Native American.. (all from the same dad but very mixed and unique.) I would hope they don't feel ashamed that I am white. (I don't really look white.) It scares me to think that this reaction would be normal let alone acceptable anywhere for any reason. But then again you speak for a lot of folks and there is such a deeply embedded mentality that its hard to overcome the sense of injustice. Which sucks. I thought that everyone realizing we are ALL RELATED would help the ideals about this but it is still too soon I guess. Love is patient love is kind and I am willing to wait for the rest of the world to see it my way haha maybe another generation or two... Peace be with you always. ✌☺💜💖💟 As I see it black culture rocks and have a lot of skills to be successful so stop letting people convince you that you don't have any control of your success. That could doom you subconciously. Work together so you can work for/with black folks.. its really not like you NEED white people- that's truly a myth. If "they" can't help you fuck em find a new way...there are PLENTY of strong black leaders empower them or be one. Achnowledge black success and accept nothing less. Black people do it every day. Maybe not where you live? Like I said peace be with you always and you are awesome. Don't let any white person or ANY person steer you different. 🙏

      Hale Berry, Hi Hale, again, soon I will be leaving out of the country for two months, I will be in Brazil, But! Before I leave I just want to say that everyone knows that 99.9% of working class, middle class or the rich black people never have or cause problem in society, most black people have the attitude of the saying "live and let live". When you hear say, I don't like white peoples, most of that coming from their personal pain they experience from white racism, for the most part you not find young black men putting a group together like the KKK and talk about killings white peoples, because black people never take hate that far, even if they did hate white people, I said all this's too say, the black people who do crime is doing it because no job, no education, no self confidence, growing up in negative environment, who perpetrated this kind of environment,,,the American government, you might say how that? Whenever you have a government giveaway government job to foreigners and not to American citizen there's a problem, plus provide bad schooling for certain community, now somehow drugs and guns get into the neighborhood plus bad police protection, believe me if the jobs were plentiful the crime in the black community would not be nowhere near as high, and please don't forget Hollywood, they believe the only movie black people like is (Boyz in the Hood) kind of movie, we all know that's (what kids see is what they emulate) then we do fake study on "why? Inner city kids want to be gang members. Sometimes I see America as a big joke, when I know America have the potential to be the greatest country in the world, but evil could be the reason America losing their greatness, like -Germany, Persian Empire, Macedonian Empire,Roman Empire, Byzantine Empire,

      Black people have suffered oppression at the hands of white supremacy, naturally you'd have some resentment towards the oppressor, but only to find that a lot of your DNA is actually that of the oppressor, and with the rape history of black women by white slavers, it's kind of hard to find pride in that.

    We're all cousins. I appear to be a Scottish redhead. But I am 40% Northern European, 20% Mediterranean, 18% West Asian, 3% Neanderthal, 2.5% Denisovan, and so on. My Mom was from old time Appalachian folk dark eyes, dark hair, dark olive skin. My dad dark eyes, black hair, somewhat dark skin. I was a shock. Then my sister came and she was a blue eyed blond, and my two younger brothers also light skin with an off blond hair coloring. Only in our features did we resemble our parents. I once had a good friend by the name of Burrus. He appeared white. But his mother and siblings were all dark skin mostly African originated coloring and features. He had a really difficult time. He was black culture, but badly bullied and ostracized. He was not white culture, dialect and behavior. He did not want to pass as white either. He had his pride. He was/is? a good fellow in a difficult position. This was during 1977 to 1980 on Oahu. We were in the same unit in the Army. He bought a new sports car with his enlistment bonus and scared the pee out of me on H One Hwy. 100mph when the road appears to be inches from your face is no joke. ;) P.S. I was also badly bullied for many years in hollers and schools in Eastern Kentucky. I was too different from those around me. All in all, it is better to be different than to be a bully. To be different is the same as being courageous. To be a bully is the same as being a violent ignoramus.

My own father is Indo with Dutch, Chinese, Sundanese, Javanese, Atjehnese and Belanda Hitam (originally from Ghana) ancestry. And there were many Hindus from India, and Arabs especcially in Atjeh, that makes the possible mix even more interesting and surprising! Don't know if these tests can really unveal all this though...

      *Mrs. Voldemort* I love to visit Indonesia once but need enough vacation days to travel all the places where my ancestors lived... The Bataks are from Sumatra just under Atjeh so we may share some ancestry 😎
      Test prices range from €49 (MyHeritage) to €129 (LivingDNA), at least here in the EU, and for this kind of test I don't think that's very expensive. It's a lot of DNA reads... I'm ordering this week.

      At least they're not race baiting narcissists like Juicy Smolliyay. Juicy should be in prison

    I think this is absolutely amazing. It really cool how the DNA test work. What I'm taking from this is to LOVE your neighbor as yourself. This is absolutely beautiful. You ladies are absolutely gorgeous. Be Blessed.

    I agree with the comment, that eventually, all people on earth will be the same. In any case, you are both beautiful women.

    I love these type of videos. I find them interesting for some reason. Its good to know who you are, even if it doesn't change anything. Congratulations on your test results. I hope you enjoyed it. I know I had my done, and I thought it was interesting too.
