Just an FYI for everyone watching: I am aware that 39% is not half, the reason I am saying she is half black or half African American is because we FOUND HER BIOLOGICAL FATHER. He was black. He identified as African American. Having one black parent and one white parent, you are basically half black. Obviously he could not be 100% African genetically, but most African Americans in the USA are not 100% African. No, I am not stupid. Not sure why this is bothering people so much. Lol. Thanks!
ashleyplus3 I understand what you are saying. But just like you said most Black Americans are not 100% Black. I am glad you are embracing the racial melting pot that is you. Congrats :)!
Bingo! Not all African Americans are 100% African. Some are more admixed than others. Biracials have a wide range of African % on these test. Usually in the 20s -40s % African range, depending on how admixed the Black parent is.
I'm glad you understand this fact about Afro-Americans... I'm always baffled when Afro-Americans say "a drop of black blood makes you black" and then they turn around and get a DNA test and find out they have a large amount of European in them and they're shocked... like...The one drop rule literally means you can be majority European and still classified as black if you have any known african ancestry... Genetics and societal/cultural norms are two different things... I think a lot of people took the one drop rule as scientific... Super dope video btw. Congratulations to your mom on finding her father
You don't have to explain that to smart people, only fools didn't understand that. I understood immediately after you said it, and after you did your mom's breakdown, it made more sense because all of her Black genetics came from countries directly involved in the slave trade.
U don't have to explain anything to anyone. U r who u r and I am happy u know all that u do about urself. I still haven't taken mine yet but I can't wait!
I too am an adoptee . I'm 100% European. Highest % Scandinavian. With all that said I too found my biological parents thanks to Ancestry DNA! My Father is 86 and I just came from meeting him, his wife and my 4 half-siblings and their families!! We are definitely family !! Lol ! Unfortunately my Mother has passed, but she was 1 of 15 siblings... So relatives galore that are reaching out to me. Meet up in May !!! So thankful to finally know, at 60, where I'm from and finding the family's I've only dreamed of !!!
Funny but TRUE story. My previous bosses sister gave birth to a healthy baby girl. One problem. The baby was obviously "Black" while both parents are "White". Well the husband immediately accused the my bosses sister of Adultery and they were an inch from divorce when the emergency DNA test came back.......... Not only was he the father, the African genes came from HIS side of the family! Apparently a dead Great Grandparent on his side of the family 1. Lied about his race 2. Was adapted, had fairer skin and did not know his ancestry 3. The Great Great Grandparent had an affair, child had fairer skin so no one was the wiser. Well his side of the family was absolutely God Smacked at that revelation! GOOD NEWS. 10 years later the couple is a loving family with a beautiful (like model cute) girl...but they HAVE to explain she is not adapted! Both parents have fair skin, the mother is dirty blond straight hair with green eyes.... The daughter is brown eyed uber dark brown African hair, and dark skinned. Genes are funny little things........ Bet that Great Grandparent's ghost was laughing it up!
meli sol 😓That was NOT my intention. Dirty blond means someone with blondish hair with brown or darker streaks in the hair. Usually someone born with light hair, that turns darker as they age. My parents used that adjective, my peers used that adjective, and even blonds refereed to them selfs as such! 🤔I will be more carful with that adjective though.
Ivy Ruonakoski Oh.....so.....it is ok to use the term "dirty blond" to describe hair color? 😰I have never be called a racist before so the previous commenter shocked and startled me.
I love these Ancestry videos. Not only because it's neat to see people excited to learn more about themselves, but because it turns on its head everything politicians told us about our supposed differences due to race and nationality. We are all one human family.
You mom looks like a lot of people that I️ have seen over my lifetime who are clearly biracial and your mom is a lovely mix of the two ignore the ignorant comments and congratulations to you and your mom for finding her birth family.
I've never seen your channel or you before, but when I saw your picture, I could tell that you were Black. You have the face of a Black woman with very light skin. African blood is strong. It's beautiful! I think most Black people, like myself, are not even surprised by your results. You are a part of very rich history! I hope you continue to embrace it ❤💛💜💚💙
I do see the African in you and very much in your mom. Like Keyona said - black people can spot other people who have African in them from a mile far. When a white person will miss it black folks will not. That is why so many African Americans with very high European ancestry was able to pass into the all white communities in times past. That was because white folks are not very good at spotting African admix but black people are experts at it. Thanks for sharing your results and you are beautiful.
L. Sher My ex-husband is AA, and we have 2 children. One is confused by AA people as being Hispanic or Middle Eastern and the other child as white. They've both been tortured and harassed by other black children/people their whole lives for being "other" to this day. They are not believed when they inform someone their grandparents are dark-skinned people and have been called liars. They are 22 & 20, and this is nothing brand new. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that MANY AA people (children & adults alike) are not experts & don't know another black person standing in their own face. Perhaps you were referring to Africans being experts, that I could see to be true. On the other hand unfortunately, many black Americans are just down right hateful, rude, & unaccepting to others who don't appear to be black to them.
The fact that blacks always "know their own ", while whites are oblivious to this fact, further confirms to me, that Blacks are much more racist, than white people.
I did one of those too. Being blonde with green eyes and very pale skin, the 64% Scandinavian was a no brainer! However, my father is from cape Verde..and obviously not white. I'm 32% of African descent and 4% native American! What's interesting is, people with less African descent in them have features that strongly represent that. I've always knows that I am of mixed heratige, but mostly others don't believe me because of the lack of African features present when looking at me.
So interesting! I think my mother's Scandinavian blood is the reason she appears so light skinned...because her father appeared and identified as fully black. Thanks for sharing 😊
I think you are right about the scandinavian thing! My cousin is half Nigerian and half Swedish and her skin is almost as light as yours. She also has reddish hair.
ashleyplus3 also just because her dad looked and identified as fully black doesnt mean she didnt get some of her European from him. I look and identify as fully black but i have 14 percent european dna
+emoja30 interestingly...Cape Verde was settled by Europeans as well..most natives are about 70% African and 30% European! So you are correct..my father also has European descent..my mother is only Scandinavian ..most ppl don't know that about Cape Verde😉
Yes I hate when ppl say/do that . Even DNA ancestry says anything above 2% black you’re black. But whethere it’s from a parent Being mixed or not you’re mixed too!!
I took this test due to adoptions in my family and ancestry helped me dramatically with putting the puzzle pieces together. Thanks for sharing and good for you guys 💗
It is a good thing. And yes you look like one of my cousins. Looking black is not what you think. Because black families have mixtures like you in them we have black relatives that look like you. Well I do, a gang of them. But it boils down to being just being a human. Race is not a thing. We made it up. Ask any biologist. Ciao.
She was saying most black Americans have some European ancestry due to slavery 20-30% any mixture can cause lighter skin descendants or green eyes many of my cousins are light skin, have hazel/green eyes. But we aren't mixed race.
Tell that to a forensic expert.Race is a Biological construct. They can determine race from skeletal remains just like sex,as men and women have differences in their skulls and skeletons,so do the various races of people. Its important in forensics, for CSI work.To determine race and sex of a remains.
You’re like the opposite of my grandma! She is very dark skinned with coarse hair and white features because she has a Scottish grandma. Your very light with straight hair, blue eyes and black features! Genes are fascinating!
Nope she has green eyes from what I can see. I'm Irish but have dark green eyes with brown around the iris but one of my daughters has blue eyes and the other has green eyes the exact same colour as our cat had, no brown in them. They're very unusual.
Regardless of your hair and skin. Your lips and nose belongs to another ethnic background. Embrace your lips people are paying big money to have that look. Beautiful.
Å L I do believe there are Afrocentric features (which some black people take offense to) but the nose and lips on this girl are no extreme for a white person. It's not like she has a very broad or flat nose or huge lips. And still there are other races with those similar features .
Lol lyes they do im black and the colonizers messed up my lips🥺 im lacking in lips tan freckles reddish hair......but my blackground is obvious by the booty lol
I am not black or African - American but I can definitely see the African bit in you. You are very pretty so is your mom! Your mom definitely looks mixed.
I could tell you have African ancestry before you read your own dna results in the last video. ( I sum it up to Black American people being able to spot other black people regardless of complexion or mixed heritage. Most African Americans have multiethnic/racial ancestry 4 to 5 generations back. We are aware of the many variations in hair texture and skin complexions from dark to porcelain that we can have, even between full biological siblings) For me there's no question about your mom having black heritage just based on pictures you've shown. It makes me wonder if her adopted parents ever adressed her ethnic identity or physical difference at all. Have you ever discussed how your mom was treated in public spaces growing up? If you haven't seen it already, I suggest watching the documentary " Little White Lie". It's about a biracial black woman who was raised to identify as white despite the obviously different she looks from her white parents. She grapples with being identified as black by others in the public spaces of her majority white town. The documentary uncovers how she puts the pieces together and confronts her parents about the impact of their denial in her own life and in her parents' marriage. It's beautiful to watch. In a perfect world race wouldn't be a determining factor for who does and doesn't get access to equity, power, opportunity, wealth and justice. Being black in this country has always carried stigma with it due to racism. But I promise you it's a beautifully rich heritage of a people who have surpassed hurdles of deep-seated opression to not only survive but thrive and influence the world with such magnitude. I wish you and your mom the best in reconnecting with your relatives.
Yes. exactly this. This is something I haven't spoken about yet but my mom had a VERY hard childhood. She was raised in a majorly white place, thinking she was white but knowing that she looked different. Kids called her spaghetti head (she had red hair, and my poor grandma had no idea how to help her style it so she mostly had an unkempt afro as a child) among other horrible names and she was bullied through high school. This caused her to hang out with the misfits and end up with a very bad drug and alcohol problem. I feel like maybe if they would have at least been told, hey she's mixed, my grandparents could've helped her more. They were good people, they just didn't know. And on heritage, I completely agree! Black heritage is so beautiful and rich. I have always felt drawn to it ..maybe it was instinct! Thank you for this lovely comment! I will have to check out that documentary and show my mom.
Barbara Bach I mean no disrespect but society didnt give a damn about the percentage. They saw that she was not 100 percent white. Kids can be cruel but were acting on what they were taught.
cherese48 one can appear White and not be but not appear Black and not be black. In This country your treated based on your appeareance. Those that could pass did so because they knew life would be much easier. As science is now showing us we are all one maybe we will begin the treat one another that way.
Renette Spruill, yes I know. My family is a "rainbow of skin colors". Because most black people hold so many other races within our makeup, it interesting to see what gene "pops up" with each new generation.
Melanie I actually have no real skincare routine...i just wash and moisturize 👍..and also just use a good foundation that makes me look like I have great skin 🤣😂 Thank you though !
Welcome! LOL. But that is damn cool. I have a similar background. My heritage simplified, I'm part African-American on my mother's side, part Italian-American on my father's. It's an unusual but also fascinating kind of journey in life to be of mixed-race. You see a lot of interesting, positive and negative, reactions from both communities.
Sister....I first want to say your mother is beautiful. Black is beautiful. Before you evan read your mother test results, I could have told you myself that she had black in her, and you might think that you look all the way white but you don't. Your lips give you away, not only that but other features as well. Believe me I guarantee you over half the white people in this world has black in them. They might be embarrassed about it but that's why you never hear anything about it. But thank God for your mom adopted parents, evidently in spite of the black that she had in her, they cared about her and they took care of her. I could have told you she had Irish in her as well because most Irish people that I know has red hair with a lot of personality. So love your mother, embrace your mother and let her know everyday that she's love. "Besides all her life it wasn't the the black people that did her wrong, " look around ".
Catina Burrough wishful thinking. Most white people don't have black in them. But most African Americans whose ancestors were slaves have white in them. Stop trying to connect black people to white people. You guys are pathetic. It's like you're obsessed
Back then... there was a lot of "passing(for white) going on. A lot of Mariah Careys and Meghan Markles passing for white. it's because of this passing tradition that ensured an easier life... that many whites are mixed somewhere down the line and don't even know it. Cuz "passing" was all based on denial.
It's this movie I would like for you to watch. It's call ( Imitation of Life ) it's a great movie, I use to watch it every year when I was a little girl and every time I watched that movie, I cried. It really touched my heart. Please watch it and tell me what you thought of it. Be Blessed.
Catina Burrough. I really liked that sad movie . I was a Sandra Dee fan growing up in the 50sand 60 s . I know that the plot is so true now that I'm older . It was a good story but so sad .
It's not that surprising. You have beautiful full lips and your nose is full and also round. Those are your two most prominent Black features. I hope you share the rest of your journey and interview your mom. I would like to know what she thinks about all of this.
As a mixed person I can see it...my son looks a lot like her and he’s around 25% black with blue eyes and blonde hair. But there’s always certain features that are different from someone who’s 100% European.
Jefferson Marques the “black” they speak of is African American, or blacks from the states, sort of a culture within our culture. I think it derives from experience too. They clearly know she’s of African descent, but mean she isn’t like them. That’s the same place the measure of “black enough” comes from.
That is so awesome! I found my mothers birth mother through taking an ancestry dna test too! Sadly she doesnt want to talk but it was so cool just to find her.
Very interesting results. I'm a Black American woman and could not tell you had African ancestry. Charles Manson's biological father was said to be biracial also.
Honestly your Mom looks black and you look more mixed. Going by your facial features you look black. Wide nose, full lips, and eye shape. I'm not sure what "Looks black" should look like to you but we come in all shades, eye color and hair textures. African Americans are not all 100% African, most of us are mixed. Please continue to do research and I wish you luck on you and your Mom's journey.
+Leesha I only said I obviously don't look African because I am as white as a sheet of paper. I do not think anyone can "look black" just by features alone since every race has a huge variety of different shapes and sizes of features. A lot of the comments here say I look black because I have big lips and a wide nose. what they don't know is I look almost identical to my father, who is most likely 100% European. So it is all relative...I think a lot of people just see what they want to see. Thank you though! 😊
+ashleyplus3 I think you need some reconciliation accepting your Black heritage. You seem offended and deflect when people say you look part Black. You defend it by constantly stating your skin is very white. I hate to break it to you, but you're NOT as pale as you seem to believe. You do in fact, look Latina or mixed. If this offends you, perhaps you should take down the videos? It seems to hit a raw nerve with you.
+Nicole Robinson lmfao 🤣 how the hell am I offended that I'm part black? I said over and over we figured my mom was my whole life..I am perfectly happy to have that confirmed as I have always felt it was a part of me.. Black culture is amazing and I love and have loved many many black people in my life. I don't feel I need to prove that to you or anyone else. And honey, I am pale as a damn ghost, I promise. The color of my ass could blind you. I am pale. I have no problem if people say I have black features. I'm just stating that I look a whole lot like my father, and I think it's sort of ignorant to think that all black people have round noses like me...because that is not true at all. I have my father's nose and eyes..mom's lips voice and face shape. I am referring to people saying I have "black features" and only talking about my damn nose being round and wide. Or my round eyes ..which are the exact clone of my fathers, who is 100% Caucasian. The only thing I am referring to when I said I obviously don't look black is the color of my skin. I have very pale white skin, whether you chose to believe your eyes or not 👌 I love my mom and we both love that we have found a new beautiful and rich culture runs through our blood. She has suffered her entire life because of ignorant people who judge her for her looks, so trust me honey, I am NOT ashamed of my mom being black. Furthest thing from it. Move along 👍
That’s so sweet of your grandparents - being a doctor w/compassion and adopting the baby. If your grandpa is still alive, tell him I think he’s dope. Lol!!
Love is video!!! I'm glad your mom was able to make some connections!!! Oh yeah and one more thing... You do have black features girl!!! LOL keep up the family hunt there is always room for more family!!!
Holly Chaney lol I'm straight from Africa and looooots of non mixed black ppl have her mom's hair texture. Get out of ur house and travel more. Black ppl come in all types of shades and have all types of hair textures. 😂🤣 the ignorance is astounding lol
She was making reference to African Americans not Africans . And those Africans you speak of are mixed with Arab or some other ethnicities. I have seen many UA-cam videos of Africans with silky smooth hair reveal their DNA and they all have a high percentage of Arab mixture.
Orlando Cruz once again wrong my mom's parents have fine hair and are both African American not mixed with anything both born with bone straight hair you guys need to stop assuming that a black or African person has to be mixed to have fine or loose wavy hair
Hiz hunny You just proved my point ❗️ If your parents are African-Americans they definitely have some European blood in them At least 25 percent European. So their loser texture is due to their European bloodline. I would say it's due to their Native American bloodline but based on the UA-cam videos I've seen it's rare to see an AA with NA blood and the one I have seen had about 1%.
This is so awesome, I actually like you either way, but it's so exciting am so happy for your mum....so amazing seeing pieces of the puzzle come together thank you and your mum for sharing....God bless you all 😚
Ashleyplus3 are people really fighting on your video. This is insane. Yes she is half African American. African American is a culture. There is only one race the human race. I understand clearly what you are talking about. I'm so sorry that your grandparents (biological) passed away on her side. But maybe this is the beginning of you working out your own life calling sharing information and bringing this country closer together. You are beautiful by the way!
Your mom absolutely looks black. She looks like several of my playmates that I had as a child, as well as a few of my relatives, and a lady who used to drive my bus when I was in junior high. She had kinky red hair also. She completely identified as black though. Both you and your mom are beautiful, but if I passed either of you in Walmart, I would automatically think.......BLack.
You are technically a quadroon. You look like you have a lil bit African in you, but look mostly white (of course). So its no shocker. You have a mixed look to you. Take the test, you would in the 10s - 20s% African range. You are 15% African. Your mom does look mulatta, biracial. No shocker there. Anyhow, great video and results!
I don't know why people don't know that everyone's lineage eventually traces back to Africa, just because you don't have the dominant features or skin tone doesn't mean it's not deep in you, that we all have mother Africa in us, it's a beautiful thing... thanks for sharing😊
I find it amusing that you don’t think you look black. Your skin complexion and facial features are scream African ancestry. You look like a very light black female. I’d be interested in how dark you get in the summer. Black people have been passing for White since forever. For some reason White people cant tell the difference between a light skinned black person and a white person. I wonder why. We don’t look the same. Your mother definitely looks Black. Most Black people would be thinking “ yeah, ok “ after being told she’s white. That hair, nose, skin complexion, and BROWN freckles.....are a dead give away. Brown freckles are eumelanin. Red freckles are pheomelanin.
Leslie Sinclair the funny thing is if she was trying to say she was black you would have a bunch of black people here saying she's just a white girl but because she's sounding surprised and not thinking she looks black, black people and wanting to tell her she looks black
How do you link/connect results from Ancestry to other sites? My father had a son outside marriage and I would like to see if I can find him. He is not on Ancestry.
Your mom reminds me so much of my sister Jasmine. She actually kind of looks like my sister as well. Jasmine is not adopted but we have no idea who her father is, and like your mom she has very kinky curly hair and fair skin with freckles. I did not know that doing a dna test can connect her to biological blood relatives. This is amazing to find out, maybe now we can find her real father!
I just came across your channel and I'm very interested I am adopted and my test results will be back in a couple weeks who this is this is very exciting to me I will check out your other videos thank you for sharing and I will see you on the next one
Lilli L'amour and im specifically talking about WEST Africans because that is where people of African decent in the America’s are from. So show me these white skinned blonde non mixed WEST Africans that are indigenous to WEST Africa
Headchampion You were showing a form of pessimism a form of disbelief. And I knew, you’d be lazy about researching yourself. We have what is called the Eve Gene. And I said African, I did not state a specific region in Africa as you are trying to attempt as it f I did which I did not. ua-cam.com/video/ltbsMyY0_2c/v-deo.html
My mother is African-American who is light skinned with freckles and her hair was red when she was a child. This is fairly common with African-American’s who have even a little bit of white ancestry.
When I saw I thought you have black features. And by the picture I see of your mom she looks like my aunt with the freckles and my mom has the same hair as your mom. It's good that you have found out who your family is and where you come from. Good for you
Lol... I hate the term "African American"... I am black.and proud of my heritage... but i am an American and i am of a mixture several racial makeups.. As most people in America are a mixture especially blacks in America. Why people get so bent out of shape over racial identity.. boggles me.
I don't hate the term but I prefer to be called a Black American or an American of African descent. I can't go to any country in Africa and claim citizenship. But I was born and raised as an American citizen.
I just got my DNA done and found out that I am 20% Iberian which is a mix of Spanish, French and North African. I am looking for my mom and the counselor told me one of bio my mother is biracial and grandmother is white! I was flabbergasted, because I took it for granted that the slave narrative was true in my case. It isn't, so now I have started asking whites about my family and am getting some leads! I am 53 so I don't have much time! What is interesting is my bio mother is more likely a WWII baby! It just blows my mind. Don't worry about me getting uppity! Some of my relatives have already tried to check me!
If you need to nitpick then nitpick The continents are North America and South America not America. For the record Central America is still part of North America
Funny I have 11% African but my parents DNA shows similar amount of African DNA (7% dad and mom 14%). None of my parents are biracial. I must have had a grandparent who was biracial though and for some reason my parents DNA washed the African part down and we all ended up with just 7-14% African. I'm surprised you didn't come out with more African percentage (like maybe 20% to 25%). You might want to test your DNA again and see what it says because they do updates on those DNA tests.
The first thing I noticed was your voice, I needed no other proof! You sound like a Black woman to me! 😁 But yes, you have melanin deposits around your hairline and eyes, which is a characteristic found in very light-skinned children of African descent. Your lips and teeth when you speak and smile also look familiar. Do you have Black friends, and have they ever noticed anything like that about you?
Centurion X , Centurion X , I think a Black woman can speak like a white person, that is, using certain words and expressions used by White people, because they have lived around mostly White people. And vice versa may I add. But I noticed that Black women tend to have deeper, throaty voices. Also, North African and Asian women have a much higher pitch, as heard in their singing. White women seem to fit somewhere in between. There are exceptions, and a Black woman's voice can be imitated by a White woman, like Helen Mirren, who was the voice actor for the queen, in the movie Prince of Egypt; I actually thought that it was Angela Basset lending her voice to that character. The way Helen enunciated resembled African-American staccato-like speech rhythm. How genetics, or even how the shape and size of our noses, lips, and teeth, influence the sound of our voices, is an interesting topic, which I'd love to learn more about.
Yes it is. the black parent is admixed. You will rarely find biracials who are exactly at 50% African. Most biracial Americans are in the 20s - 40s% African range on these test, depending on how admixed the black parent is.
+Salior Moon wow you are literally dumber than a rock, bless your heart. My mom's father was BLACK. We found him. She was adopted in case you missed that point too. If you saw him walking down the street, you would say, oh look, a BLACK man. Most black people in America are only 75 to 80 percent African by DNA. I said half because half of her DNA is from her black AFRICAN AMERICAN father. I don't care to claim ANY herritage, thanks, as I am a complete mixing pot from all sides and think all races and colors and creed's are beautiful.. &Yes I am proud of ALL of my ancestors, no matter what color their skin was..and just FYI, I have a video of my results as well.
My dad was half Blackfeet (Except his native parent was an eighth Irish). He had red hair and freckles. I am blonde but have cousins my same blood quantum with brown skin and black hair.
A quarter is 25% half is 50%. what did GED match say? Somtimes the estimate goes up or down on that site. For instance, Ancestry said I was 89% but GEDmatch says I am 80% african
Hello I to am an adoptee been searching for 25 years however Aussies (from info I have found) are not getting many connections........anyways does your mum that you know of as yet have any brothers and sisters ???? Who are alive !??? Very exciting but can be an emotional roller coaster ride ...... So look after your mum big time (as I am sure you do!) I wonder so much as I watch this how your mum is REALLY feeling......... I wish your family all the best on this journey of discovery and so hope positive connections can be made for all :) much health love and light (gal from oz)
+Kris Thomas wow that is an amazing story. Congratulations! 🎉 So happy for you ! Thanks for sharing! 👍
Kris Thomas wow 100% European. That’s cool!
Kris Thomas nigga please
❤ this story made my heart smile
Kris Thomas was the one ☝️ is
I'm glad you found your moms parents, but sad that she didn't get to meet them. You are such an awesome daughter to do this for her.
If I saw your mom I would know she was mixed. You can tell in her skin as well as her hair.
Tiarra L right
Pray4ablessing Kea27 😊
where..
Tiarra L she looks redbone frfr
Tiarra L and the very large bone build and very large nose with hair makes it very obvious
Sounds like the plot of Kate Chopin's 19th century short story "Desiree's Baby"...
equarg don't say dirty or dirt blonde. it truly is offensive and rude.
meli sol
😓That was NOT my intention.
Dirty blonde isn't offensive, it's an actual colour. I have naturally dirty blonde hair, although I dye it purple.
Ivy Ruonakoski
Oh.....so.....it is ok to use the term "dirty blond" to describe hair color?
Its pretty blatant that her mum is close to half black, even to a blind person
Her mother, but not her silly! You missed her point! She was not talking about her mother!
Many times it is jealousy...
Totalchaos1983 0 I'm from Cape Verde too!
keep in mind, mixed people can marry other mixed people. So, mixed can also be those with two mixed parents.
Richard Myles stop trying to get a date.
Yes I hate when ppl say/do that . Even DNA ancestry says anything above 2% black you’re black. But whethere it’s from a parent Being mixed or not you’re mixed too!!
lol...trying to get a date? No sure where you deduced that from...but that is the polar opposite of what is on my mind.
@@AshleySimoneMusic no
I took this test due to adoptions in my family and ancestry helped me dramatically with putting the puzzle pieces together.
Ciao.
Mister N what makes you an expert? GTFOH
She was saying most black Americans have some European ancestry due to slavery 20-30% any mixture can cause lighter skin descendants or green eyes many of my cousins are light skin, have hazel/green eyes. But we aren't mixed race.
Race is social concept. Ethnicity exists though.
Tell that to a forensic expert.Race is a Biological construct. They can determine race from skeletal remains just like sex,as men and women have differences in their skulls and skeletons,so do the various races of people. Its important in forensics, for CSI work.To determine race and sex of a remains.

I LOVE YOUR SPIRIT!
😉
WOW! How neat is that! You are a blessed young lady to have such a rich heritage! Exciting news indeed!
You’re like the opposite of my grandma! She is very dark skinned with coarse hair and white features because she has a Scottish grandma. Your very light with straight hair, blue eyes and black features! Genes are fascinating!
how interesting! Very cool!
Beautiful.
Oh really?
Å L I do believe there are Afrocentric features (which some black people take offense to) but the nose and lips on this girl are no extreme for a white person. It's not like she has a very broad or flat nose or huge lips. And still there are other races with those similar features .
@@sharkseyetreasures , Africans with some Neanderthal variants, but yes we are all the same modern humans.
@@sharkseyetreasures black race was the first race
Lol lyes they do im black and the colonizers messed up my lips🥺 im lacking in lips tan freckles reddish hair......but my blackground is obvious by the booty lol
I am not black or African - American but I can definitely see the African bit in you. You are very pretty so is your mom! Your mom definitely looks mixed.
MRS What Mrs what you need to check your eyes, fam...
@@michaelregis1015 Her nose bridge is not narrow.
I also just talked to my mom about it and she said they also used to call her monkey and Chaka (from land of the lost) kids can be so cruel. 😧
Welcome to the family babes....🙌🙌😘
this is sooo interesting. would love to see where you mentioned additional research on her family!!
Ash, congratulations. You are 100% human, as expected! lol
The way she marinaded that turkey said it all 😭😭😭, happy holidays!
You have great skin! Do you do oil cleansing? Or natural face care?
Melanie I actually have no real skincare routine...i just wash and moisturize 👍..and also just use a good foundation that makes me look like I have great skin 🤣😂 Thank you though !
ashleyplus3. You have beautiful big blue eyes to go with your skin.
🙌🏾 lol again, welcome family!!! *hugs* These are exciting results! Congrats to you and your family on this info. 😊
lol!! Hugs back !! Thank you my dear💜
ashleyplus3 🌸
Congrats on your success! Are you planning to meet any of your new found family?
Adoption DNA test results can be crazy. Mine sure were. Cool story. Thanks for sharing!
Welcome! LOL.
But that is damn cool. I have a similar background. My heritage simplified, I'm part African-American on my mother's side, part Italian-American on my father's. It's an unusual but also fascinating kind of journey in life to be of mixed-race. You see a lot of interesting, positive and negative, reactions from both communities.
my Mother is also about 39 % African but identifres as black. She is also 60% Irish and British. It is how you were raised and feel about your self.
It's like you're obsessed
paramedicnic with what?
Your stupidity?
Dummy great f*ck outer here man!!
Your hair looks amazing !!!! Love it!
Thank you!!
It's this movie I would like for you to watch. It's call ( Imitation of Life ) it's a great movie, I use to watch it every year when I was a little girl and every time I watched that movie, I cried. It really touched my heart. Please watch it and tell me what you thought of it. Be Blessed.
Imitation of life is one of my favorite movies. It is beautiful.
Carmen Gonzalez Thank you JESUS!!!
Catina Burrough
I love that movie!!!!!!

Catina Burrough. I really liked that sad movie . I was a Sandra Dee fan growing up in the 50sand 60 s . I know that the plot is so true now that I'm older . It was a good story but so sad .
Thanks for Sharing Your & Mom's Story with all of us. I found it to be helpful to others watching & wanting info on our Families Ya know.😉🤣😘
It's not that surprising. You have beautiful full lips and your nose is full and also round. Those are your two most prominent Black features. I hope you share the rest of your journey and interview your mom. I would like to know what she thinks about all of this.
Blessings to your mom for her courage. And blessing to you as you continue to discover your roots.
Every video I see when a white person has a bit of African there is always someone commenting "Oh you actually do look kinda black". Lmao just stop
Fr
Yup! They sound ridiculous.
I always think the same thing. If anything she appears to be latina or some non black mix. Definitely not 100% Anglo white.
AHHH now I know why keep suggesting this video in my feed. It's just like my DNA test video!
Lol
You look Hella white 😂 but that's amazing that you have that in your dna just goes to show you can't go off of looks for what your DNA is.
Jaxson Davis72 she looks kinda tan
Look at her features. Skin color means nothing.
Her nose looks like somebody of SubSaharan African ancestry
I'm black and her features are white af. AA's are confused
Jaxson Davis72 LOOK AGAIN!!
That is so awesome! I found my mothers birth mother through taking an ancestry dna test too! Sadly she doesnt want to talk but it was so cool just to find her.
That's so cool!!
Thanks girly! it is!! :)
Move along 👍
ashleyplus3
you ain't White lol
you mixed and you gotta accept it
She doeant have a wide nose, she has a nice nose gosh...
That’s so sweet of your grandparents - being a doctor w/compassion and adopting the baby. If your grandpa is still alive, tell him I think he’s dope. Lol!!
I'm black and usually can notice black features but see no black in her but interesting results.
You’re blind her mom clearly looks mixed.
GREAT VIDEO! I LOVED YOUR SPIRIT. YOUR MOM IS LUCKY TO HAVE HAD YOU....GOD BLESS. PLEASE UPDATE.
Your mom does look mixed I can tell
Love is video!!! I'm glad your mom was able to make some connections!!! Oh yeah and one more thing... You do have black features girl!!! LOL keep up the family hunt there is always room for more family!!!
How much was that kit? I’d LOVE to do one of these!!! Whenever people ask what I am my only answer is I’m a Mutt haha.
It was 79 I believe but it goes on sale and there are always coupons too! :)
Congrats! Amazing that you have been able to find this information!
Yes its very neat..thank you!! :)
Being mixed and seeing your mom's hair, it's like mine, mixed texture hair not African American
Holly Chaney lol I'm straight from Africa and looooots of non mixed black ppl have her mom's hair texture. Get out of ur house and travel more. Black ppl come in all types of shades and have all types of hair textures. 😂🤣 the ignorance is astounding lol
And a lot of biracial people have course kinky hair like myself.
This is so awesome, I actually like you either way, but it's so exciting am so happy for your mum....so amazing seeing pieces of the puzzle come together thank you and your mum for sharing....God bless you all 😚
Not surprised at your results!!! No hate over here you have very black features.
Jasmine Smith I don't see anything hateful about your comment what's your point?
Lol, 'I obviously don't look' oh yes you do! Passing!
She's white
Ashleyplus3 are people really fighting on your video. This is insane. Yes she is half African American. African American is a culture. There is only one race the human race. I understand clearly what you are talking about. I'm so sorry that your grandparents (biological) passed away on her side. But maybe this is the beginning of you working out your own life calling sharing information and bringing this country closer together. You are beautiful by the way!
Richie Rich Humans aren’t a race but a species. Different things.
I'm also adopted and recently took the tests. JUST CRAZY! I wasn't even LOOKING!
You seem so sweet about finding out your a quarter black so cool and so great for you and your mom to get confirmation. Plz keep us updated 😉
Mixed person =/= black person
Leslie Sinclair the funny thing is if she was trying to say she was black you would have a bunch of black people here saying she's just a white girl but because she's sounding surprised and not thinking she looks black, black people and wanting to tell her she looks black
How do you link/connect results from Ancestry to other sites? My father had a son outside marriage and I would like to see if I can find him. He is not on Ancestry.
I can see it. You kinda look like Cydnee Black.
You look mixed actually!
I just came across your channel and I'm very interested I am adopted and my test results will be back in a couple weeks who this is this is very exciting to me I will check out your other videos thank you for sharing and I will see you on the next one
I can see you are mixed at first glance. You're an Octoroon, like my nieces and nephews.
Technically, she's a quadroon (around 1/4 African).
You and your Mom are beautiful wish u nothing but the best on your journey!
Umm I can tell with your features that you have African ancestry. Btw, there are Africans who aren’t mix with red hair, blonde hair and blue eyes.
Lilli L'amour can you show me the receipts of unmixed Africans who are white skinned, red heads or blondes with blue eyes???
Headchampion you used your fingers to type your pessimism to me, you can use them to research Africans with the type of genetics I’ve informed you of.
That’s not pessimism. I’m asking you for proof of your claims. Show me these so called unmixed white blonde and red head West Africans. I’ll wait
You look mixed
Great results for u and ur mom. Must feel great to finally know.. thanks for sharing.
It's so cool to have Black blood. I know, I have a lot of it.
Phoenixspin riiiiiight
When I saw I thought you have black features. And by the picture I see of your mom she looks like my aunt with the freckles and my mom has the same hair as your mom. It's good that you have found out who your family is and where you come from. Good for you
My friend is Puertorican and looks EXACTLY like ur mother, but a younger version. Crazy. How mixed many of us are.
Did you guys find out if she has other siblings?? That's awesome!!!!!
I did, its complicated but it is very cool! I will be talking about this soon!! :)
Some of yall ignorant as hell...im glad she found her family 😊
I can tell your mom is mixed.
Zarasha1 :girl... we all can. As soon as I saw the pic
I love ancestry too. Even if you are not adopted, I think we can help cousins who are by connecting them with their birth parents.
Gurl u got black features
So cool! Isn’t it crazy to know how mixed you are?! My mom is adopted and I did ancestry.com too. I found out I’m a quarter white.
She looks like alot of black women I know.. look at her lips..she looks like a light skin black girl..
I am half black and white 💯🇺🇸💖 great story
Lol... I hate the term "African American"... I am black.and proud of my heritage... but i am an American and i am of a mixture several racial makeups.. As most people in America are a mixture especially blacks in America. Why people get so bent out of shape over racial identity.. boggles me.
Killerbrick lol African is not a race.
I don't hate the term but I prefer to be called a Black American or an American of African descent. I can't go to any country in Africa and claim citizenship. But I was born and raised as an American citizen.
@@qyxxone you know why that is.. such a shame .. why is everyone ashamed to claim Africa..
Your eyebrows are amazing!!!
That explains your full lips👄
I just got my DNA done and found out that I am 20% Iberian which is a mix of Spanish, French and North African. I am looking for my mom and the counselor told me one of bio my mother is biracial and grandmother is white! I was flabbergasted, because I took it for granted that the slave narrative was true in my case. It isn't, so now I have started asking whites about my family and am getting some leads! I am 53 so I don't have much time! What is interesting is my bio mother is more likely a WWII baby! It just blows my mind. Don't worry about me getting uppity! Some of my relatives have already tried to check me!
America is a continent not a country
+Sofia Gonzalez I clearly mean the United States of America but thanks for the geography lesson ma'am 👌
Not for English speakers.
It's sorta both.
If you need to nitpick then nitpick
The continents are North America and South America not America. For the record Central America is still part of North America
America is North America, South America, Latin/ Central America. - how do people still NOT KNOW THIS....omg fucking christ.
That's so exciting you have been able to find out so much information
I can tell you're of African heritage just by looking at those beautiful Angelina Jolie lips.
Emily A. that's cuz they are most likely mixed. full lips is not a white trait. nice try
Nuuur! look at Mariah Carey. her voice has crazy bass in it... a black womans'voice!
Ppl do get up in arms about other ppls DNA. I don't know why they get so hyper. Lovely hair, ty for sharing
39% is not half.
Yes it is. the black parent is admixed.
True.
Lol we all mixed so chill It won't shock me at all.
Guess this is the future of America 😥
SoVegan Revolution I feel kinda bad that white ppl are disappearing. What's wrong???

Sire Al Europe? Bwahahaha!
Is that a bad thing?
You’re a very pretty lady. I love your story. Thanks for sharing. I’m still on the fence about doing a DNA test.
Awww amazing so glad you're getting somewhere with it x 😊❤️
I am So Very Happy for your mom!!
I did not understand what you were saying you can upload to different sights, and how do you do that? Rizzoles?? NOT SURE WHAT YOU SAID.
