I love this song. Eddie did a great job. I always thought I would die first but my wife died of small cell lung cancer after a 5 year fight on December 4ht 2023. This song brings tears to my eyes, I miss her so much.
4 years ago I lost my mom from cancer and I was a mad alcoholic all my life,I went on a such a hard bender for 2 years I almost died myself,i ask my mom to help me I was so desperate,I’m 20 months sober now,I feel her presence with me everyday, thanks for this ❤
Eddie! That's about the best tribute Warren Zevon could ever get. I'm his big fan. It's such a great song and I never thought I'd hear it done well by anyone else. Brings tears to my eyes and reminds me dearly of my late husband. Thank you for that.
When my best friend died, I couldnt imagine how i'd live a day without her. Its now 23 years later and she DOES live in my heart and my actions. Im a kinder person because of her. Im a more spiritual person because of her. And she stll makes me laugh at least once a week. Your loved ones area part of you.
Beautifully said. Many wonderful souls have passed in and out of my life but never out of my heart. Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry but we never forget. Cherish every moment.
This song I played for someone I love. It is one of the songs I want played at my funeral. The lyrics just make your heart ache. The other Warren song is “My Ride is Here” sung by Springsteen.
every time I come across this performance I weep for those who have lost someone to cancer, but rejoice at the fight Warren put up to accept the inevitible but laugh at the outcome. Warren is my hero.
"Sometimes when you’re doing simple things around the house Maybe you’ll think of me and smile You know I’m tied to you like the buttons on your blouse Keep me in your heart for a while....hold me in your thoughts, take me to your dreams...when the winter comes keep the fire lit and I will be right next to you..." beautiful song by Warren Zevon who died at my age.. ❤
Eddie Vedder does so much honor to Warren Zevon with this performance. I loved Warren Zevon for his weirdness and wild spirit, as much as his music. Not too many like him anymore. Too many people worried about their social media site and how they appear to others. I'm sure Warren is getting a great laugh about the absurdness of it all.
The whole story of this song, WarrenZ, his passing, DavidL’s part in it, sad, sweet tale, worthy of telling/hearing. EddieV does a marvelous cover, adding a chapter to the tale, and proof of MrZ’s mastery, even in Exit.
Always makes me think of my dad - and back when we burnt CDs for family members I snuck it on to the end of one I gave to my mom. I got a lovely/angry call "YOU ALMOST MADE ME CRASH I WAS CRYING SO MUCH!!!!!!"
Great Performance! Thank you Kennedy Center in Washington DC for organizing and producing such amazing content and beautiful cultural moments each year -- including but not limited to the Mark Twain Humor awards.
Of course Eddie Vedder is doing a Warren Zevon song. Warren always said that Dave Letterman was his biggest booster. I was lucky by birth and cirumstance. The Warren Zevon self titled album came out the year I was 20, and I lived around Los Angeles, so my best friend and I went to see Warren from the beginning. Many a great night at the Roxy in West Hollywood.
You are a unique and beautiful person with love to share. The world needs more love not less. I know battling depression can be an overwhelming and seemingly endless dark night. You are a survivor !! Think of how strong you are simply to have endured as much as you have so far. Sending cyber-hugs to you today and every day. And encouraging you to share your love with animals, friends, strangers or the world at large. Small acts change the world -- and your love can & will make a difference. 💗
I heard this song played for the first time at Yom Kippur services today. What an incredibly beautiful song. Just lovely rendition by Eddie Vedder and tribute to one of my favorites in David Letterman
Years, years, years, and years later.....but Letterman introduced me (and apparently even Eddie) and so many others about musical acts who never would have gotten that exposure without Dave. Hell, just Google the many Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Steve Earle, etc acts on Letterman clips....especially the (oh yeah, George Clooney was here and handcuffed to Tom)....fair play to Clooney for rolling with it lol.
20 days before this, Tom Petty died. 2 days before, it was Tom's birthday. Eddie is playing one of Tom's guitars and the guitars in backdrop picture are Tom's
How is it that Vedder didn't know who Warren Zevon was but had to find out from who looks like a feral animal now- Daid Letterman... Cmon...- I went out with a waitress the way I always do, how was I to know she was with the Russians too ha....that's all I'm saying... except - I was gamblin' in Havana I took a little risk- send Lawyers, Guns & Money to get me outta this Ha!!! 💕 💜 😘, Carole Frances Catherine 💀♌

Thank you , Warren Zevon, for writing this song
Warren Zevon was a gem, who was taken from the world too soon. Thank you for your contribution to the world Mr. Zevon.

Eddie...what a tribute! Thank you! I want this played at my funeral! Beautifully done!❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
This song always reminds me of those close to me that are now gone. One of the most beautiful songs ever.
amen...
I chose this song for my Father in law's funeral. I sure no one will be at mine, but I still want it played.

Eddie's an absolute legend and is definitely on the Mount Rushmore of rock in my book. Really sweet tribute to Dave and a nod to Zevon.

I've loved Warren since the first time I heard his voice. Such a phenomenal songwriter and a voice like none other. I miss him to this day.
Sto trying to speak for the dead. Disgraceful.

I want this song played at my funeral which will probably be very soon. Life is overrated when you're depressed.
