If I could thumbs this up a hundred times, I would. Great tips and super motivating. Got me a little teary eyed and you almost convinced me to change my degree to teaching!! Bravo for being a great person with great goals.
props up to you for breaking the strategy into easy & comprehensible points. It made me feel more confident to take on the classes in such short time. I am looking into starting this summer. So basically mykey takeaways are: 1. Establish your pace and stick to it. 2. Online groups on Facebook and Reddit are a gold mine of information on the specific classes. 3. Make sure to contribute back to the online forums(whether it be spreading positive vibes) 4. Last but not least SANITY! Your mental health comes before everything. Thank you brookelynne! Looking forward to many more videos.
Rewatching this to spark some motivation. I only have 19 classes to complete, My term ends in 20 days and I have only managed to complete 2 courses and I need to complete the next 2 asap! hopefully next term I step it up and finish all 15!
Thank you so much for all your videos! You are an inspiration. I start in March and I’m highly motivated to finish ASAP. You make me feel like I totally can. Best of luck on your next degree. I’m kinda sad that you’re not going to teach. You’d be the best teacher. ♥️
Thank you so much! I actually just got a job as a preschool teacher! In most states, you don’t have to be licensed to be a teacher at a private preschool so I still get to teach!
Love your input! This is precisely what I'm doing to get through. Knowing when to take breaks is so key! Take them and get right back to it! One other suggestion I have is to be willing to sacrifice. Nothing comes without a cost. I had to draw back from social events, concerts, and hanging out to focus on achieving my goal. Understand that it's temporary and necessary if you want to advance through! That "why" is what drives me! You can do it! Best wishes to all!
This is the video I was looking for!!!! I was on a long call with WGU and they were asking me about licensure and how I can do student teach8ng as I am in China. This might be the way for me. Thank you for this video!!!!
I love your videos. Much of the reason I'm going there now. For the record, you CAN enroll straight in to the non licensure degree. They just don't want any chance of people being confused somewhere down the road about state requirements.
Gotta give a high five to the Channel manager, it’s a great video.. mine went differently tho, had my boyfriend talk about Stray Administration who makes the degree just as explained on here..
I am glad I came across your video. I have an AA in business administration as well and wanting to do special education. Good to know most of my credits will not transfer over!
Oh I love hearing these stories. How were you able to change your major? I would like to do the same. I have no desire to do student teaching. I just want my degree in education. I’ve been a para for a few years.
I had to speak with my mentor, her boss, fill out a bunch of paperwork, and I had to have a valid reason for changing. I wasn’t able to do student teaching due to my schedule so that was the only reason I could change degrees.
@@novarattu6696 “para” is short for “Paraprofessional” they’re certified teachers assistants in Pre-Kindergarden, Kindergarden, and First Grade (depending what school you work for). Their duties and responsibilities are similar to a certified teacher minus the paperwork, long hours, the high end responsibilities, and obviously the pay of a certified teacher. But don’t be fooled, Paraprofessionals work as hard in the classroom as any other teacher. In order to become a Para, you have to do a paraprofessional assessment test, this is to demonstrate you have the skills and knowledge in math, reading, and writing and can apply those skills in the classroom instructions.
You did such a great job! Congratulations. I was wondering if you had to do the observation hours? I know you mentioned you didn't need the student teaching
I’m looking at wgu just because I would be able to get my degree done faster at a cheaper rate the only thing is I’m torn between “ college life “ like Greek life etc do you ever wish u had that college life ?
I actually attended a non accredited Bible college in person at the same time as I did both my associates and my bachelors online. I wouldn’t trade that experience for the world so I would definitely suggest you go to some school tours and weigh your options!
Anyone able to knock out Cyber Security and Information Assurance in 6 months? I started with my associates and my credits only fulfilled 23% of the degree
I couldn’t believe i finish one class in 2 days 😂 unrealistic goal … i passed a due date for the class and i finish like 2 tasks in one day for that other class lol😅
Really enjoyed your video. I'm puzzled about why you didn't do student teaching? Did you become a certified teacher by a different route, or did you change your goal? Thanks.
What sort of classes were these you finished in a day or 2 days? Were they education classes? You must have already had prior knowledge in the subject?
what did the courses mainly consist of? was it a lot of reading and exams? or did you have to write a lot of papers? do you watch videos of lectures or videos on different topics or is it mainly just a bunch of reading? are you graded A,B,C,D,F, or just pass/fail?
Next year im going to start college pursuing the position of a highschool history teacher, google tells me itll take 5 years, bout to be a grind Edit: might go big debt and do oregon state university online fr
Also I’m a pretty good online learner I find myself at my community college now taking extra class in the mini sessions because I finished my preset classes to fast lol do you think I could work full time and finish in 6 months as well
I think that if you put your mind to it you can absolutely do it! Just know that if you don’t it’s okay and you can always take another term if needed. That’s the thing I loved about WGU, there was always an option to keep going even if I didn’t meet my goals!
I'm trying to teach English abroad and a bachelor's degree is 100% required, not optional. Would getting the degree in such a small amount of time be respected in a situation where a bachelors is required and not just a bonus? I'm worried they'd look down on it for it being a online 6 month degree.
I’m not sure as it would depend on the preference of the company you were working with. As far as my experience, everyone that I have interviewed with or mentioned the timeframe to has been surprised and very positive about how fast I completed my degree. They see it as impressive rather than rushed and sketchy.
Hi friend, I’m foreign teacher. My Amerika journey has started 2 years ago.I have 12 years experience for middle school in my country. I have a question for you 😊 I want to be a teacher ,elementary school teacher, and I enrolled WGU master program for elementary education. After complete this program can I qualify for become elementary school teacher? Thank you in advance for answering.
Hi! Nice vid btw! I appreciate your experiences and input on being as a student in WGU. However what do you think about WGU for students that just graduate from high school? I've been hearing that people just don't recommend it at all because you NEED work expierence (based off the degree you apply to) to get through these courses. I'm planning on applying for a cyber security degree, however hearing that people just don't reccomend applying to this school without work expierence is kind of demotivating me to attend. I would really appreciate it if I got input on this, and it would help me be more comfortable on deciding on other options besides WGU.
I personally have never worked in education before starting at WGU. I have a business degree that I got before I came to WGU so my experience was completely unrelated to that. I think if you want to go then set up an appointment to talk to a representative from the college. They can give you more degree specific information and help you make a decision!
@@brianmedina4852 Hey, do you have any updates.... I plan to go WGU, right after I graduate next year. But I don't have any work experience, I have good gades and all.
I had to do some of my observations by watching youtube videos instead of being in a classroom, but student teaching is a whole other ball park. Most schools are back to using their physical campus so it would be really hard to find a good excuse not to actually be in a classroom. I hope you can find a solution though!
Mine was that I wasn’t going to be in my home state during that time. Others I have heard are that people can’t afford to not work for a semester, medical conditions, or responsibilities at home that won’t allow them to be in class full time.
That is completely up to you. If you can accelerate classes and do around 1-3 a week then it is possible, if not it could take anywhere from 1-4 years depending on your pace.
I was going to Bible college in person while also attending WGU. I didn’t know what state I was going to be in when it was time to start the process as well as I didn’t know where I would live after graduating so I didn’t want to get a license for the wrong state.
I actually just got a job at a private preschool as a lead teacher! Most private schools and preschools don’t require teachers to have any certifications or license as long as they have a bachelors degree or above!
You can apply to one for sure but getting into one would be another question. I say this because WGU is pass/fail so all classes passed count as a 3.0. With that said your not very competitive on the GPA scale with someone coming from a college with traditional GPA. This doesn't mean it's impossible though some schools may weigh more on LSAT scores or something else.
If I could thumbs this up a hundred times, I would. Great tips and super motivating. Got me a little teary eyed and you almost convinced me to change my degree to teaching!! Bravo for being a great person with great goals.
