Streptococcus Mutans has an ability to survive in an environment of high sugar where other bacteria die . S. Mutans can save sugar . The pH is relevant in the very local area close to the tooth surface. Hence many cavities start between teeth or in deep fissures . Here Oxygen cannot reach . Hence an anaerobic environment causing demineralisation . About your problems : get the occlusion checked . The crown may be slightly tall in the bite or when you chew . It is called occlusion and articulation . Also get an X-ray of the root tips to check for root infection . Make absolutely sure you don’t have foodimpaction between your teeth anywhere - especially in connection to crowns and fillings . Brushing is merely to prevent aneaorobic plaque . The bio film comes back fast but not in a thick layer . He says several not so correct things . Massaging gums is irrelevant. Diet is extremely important and so is meal frequency . You are welcome to ask questions if I can help . I should mention that I am a dentist
@@kronos77 I doubt there is any real solid science behind most of the recommended approaches to helping your teeth . One trick I give people is to smell the tooth pick or floss : touch with fingers and smell fingers after . It will motivate you and there should be no severe smell . It is the anaerobic bacteria you smell and that cause the problems . I.e my recommendations are clean thoroughly before bed . Do not use any mouth rinse . I don’t use fluoride on my brush . I feel with my tongue if teeth are clean and smooth . No cheering gum . No sugar . A clean tooth does not get problems .
Interesting....I had not been using any fluoride products in years ..BUT...I had just discovered Dentist Dr. Ellie on UA-cam and have been following her system the last few months. She explains the "whys" of every step. Thanks Dante!
I listened to Dr. Ellie’s whole video on her 4 step plan and I started using Blue Listerine and Crest. Today I had a consult with a Periodontist. He recommended the rinse Dr. Ellie uses, the one that starts with a C for when my gums get infected and he said the Blue Listerine has alcohol which is not good because alcohol causes dryness, but the original yellow is good. I love not having to floss.
There are a few issues with Hubermans analysis. One if you had eaten only mostly meat your whole life you would be at much lower risk for oral disease. Like carnivores in the wild and my dog they/he chew on tough fibery meat and bones as well as tear skin and hide and eat some of that as well. Mink eat animals whole skin and all and that does some major exercise to our gums and teeth and act as a tooth brush. It goes beyond teeth to gum disease if you have oral health issues. Once your mouth has become compromised and diseased with tons of fillings and/or crowns and root canals like myself then brushing becomes mandatory because your teeth are not pristine and healthy. I use the waterpik and brush once daily then do oil pulling with mct coconut oil before bed and my teeth feel clean snd my 6 month cleanings have become easy on contrast to how they were before changing my diet. I wouldnt stress about the carbonated water ph. Our saliva naturally is neutral to slightly acidic. It is impossible for our organism to be in total equilibrium, with a pH of 7. For example, human blood has a pH slightly above 7, so it is alkaline. In contrast, the normal pH range of saliva is between 5.6 and 7.9 and is generally acidic. Im not about to quit the fizzy water. We all die at some point.
You're the first carnivore I've come across who also owns not using toothpaste!! I say so when dental health comes up and I've never had anyone else say, "me too!" Nice to meet another one 😂
@Audifan8595 I haven’t seen a toothpaste yet with anything I feel comfortable putting in my mouth! And I know from my own experience it is totally unnecessary! I did use baking soda for awhile, however my teeth feel better with plain old water.
I have been kind of lazy about going to the dentist for regular cleanings so had calculus build-up. After going carnivore it was a bit alarming because chunks started coming off. The calculus started falling right off! Gums also don't bleed when flossing.
I floss so much now that I’m on the Lion diet. I get meat stuck in there and it hurts a lot. I’m trying to navigate sore gums in The back of my mouth where the meat gets stuck. I love that he addressed this. So grateful!
I use the sole water also. I use to enjoy water when I wasn’t eating low/no carbs. However, I really enjoy the sole water and will be interested if, at some point in the future, my body will not want to or need it.😊
I use Redmonds Earthpowder unsweetened spearmint. Absolutely love it. I don't use mouth wash at all. Carnivore never leaves me with bad breath. Salt water is a wonderful mouth wash alternative.
I'm 62 and have all my teeth. Moreover, I have never had a cavity. That's right: zero cavities. I brush and floss regularly and have noticed no change since three years of carnivore.
I wonder if you drink the club soda through a straw, if it would lessen the acidic effect on your teeth, so you wouldn't have to discard your entire stock of water you already purchased
I used to use an electric toothbrush, and it felt really clean on my teeth, but eventually it started wearing down the enamel and I had sensitivity. Also, I love using baking soda to brush with. It leaves my mouth cleaner than anything else and it gets the grit off of my teeth that toothpaste will not get. Lastly, I use a water pic and in my opinion that is way better than flossing. My gums are in excellent condition after water picking and when I go to get my teeth cleaned the hygienist cannot find anything wrong with my gum.
I know! Makes no sense to me. People who watch these videos already understand that there is a natural and healthy way to lower your A1C! Pretty much everyone is waiting for the skip button to appear on that snoozer! 😂
Something crazy happened while watching your video, soon as you said Evil is on the march I decided to click the "Like" button and my "Like" was #666. Lol! 😅 WTH!
I have xylotol chewing gum. I chew it after meals and it pulls the food particles from between my teeth in addition to protecting them as the doctor describes.
Great video. A real gem. I recently developed a bad cavity and i was dumbstruck as to the cause. Now i think it might be the clubsoda. I've been brushing my teeth with coconut oil and sodium bicarb with a few drops of peppermint oil for quite a while now and its wonderful. Also rinsing with hydrogen peroxide/ water mix every other day. So yes, it's goodbye to the clubsoda. Ps any tips on how you get your head shaven so smoothly? Maybe do a video? I shaved my head in support of a cancer patient and now i like the feel.
I use an electric toothbrush with a toothpaste called tooth and gum, which is a non-fluoride healthy type of thing that I get off of Amazon, but what I like about the electric toothbrush is it allows me to get my wisdom teeth easily I have all my wisdom teeth left so I like to go around the back of each molar at least once a day I mean, I’m a lot like you and that you know 52 year-old male who didn’t take the best care of his teeth this whole life, but I was blessed with good strong teeth and I agree that the meat carnivore diet stop that film just remember what used to be after McDonald’s or a Wendy’s meal that terrible slimenone of that is present when you’re eating beef with butter eggs it’s just not there so I agree. Agree with a lot of this. I still do brush my teeth at least once a day usually at night I’m a nighttime brush and then the other thing I do is in the shower. I have a showerhead that I put on fast mode and I blast my mouth out with water. I’ve done that for years.
Drink that salt water! If it is sea salt! I put real sea salt (not Redmond's which is earth/sediment salt) in all water I drink which hydrates b/c it contains all electrolytes one needs. Also great for rinsing the mouth :)
I've come to the conclusion that it's all about genetics, my husband barely ever took care of his teeth his whole life and never went to the dentist until we'd been married for a few years, he has really good teeth. I, on the hand, floss and brush twice a day and barely have any real teeth left and have a mouth full of dental work.
I think so too, I have bad teeth but have always flossed and brushed 2x, my brother spent years in our youth as a happy pot head who’d go to bed without brushing after eating a bunch of munchies. Yet I have way more cavities than him. Also my ex NEVER flossed ever and he bragged about having zero cavities and his teeth were perfect, and he was a heavy duty carb lover
I think it's a couple things, the dentist being the first. I had a dentist when I was growing up that filled 5 of more cavities every time I went it! It was depressing. When I went in a few days later he wasn't there and another dentist was going to fill them for me. After a few minutes he sat back and said I had no cavities. Yeah, none. I never went back there until that dentist took over 15 years later. Now my children's see him. So, make sure you have a good dentist! 😉
Test your saliva/mouth ph with a pool ph strip in the am then drink a carbonated beverage and test your saliva or mouth ph again. Betting it doesnt change much if any.
I have decided like oral health issues being tied to bacteria i think CVD is also caused by an over abundance of bad bacteria being fed by a diet foundation of starch and sugar. The reason i think so is because when CV plaque is analyzed the number of constituents beside cholesterol/lipids, fibrin and calcium are bacteria and immune cells. Yet because the cholesterol does the repair from the habitual damage and is found in the plaque it gets the blame.
Ferrigno, I had the exact same issue you had. Just this last week I undergo hours of cleaning etc. Amazingly bad coincidence. I'm worried because like you, eating clean and brushing always. My periodontal also recommend a mouth wash with xylitol
Have you ever tried oil pulling? It helped me stop bleeding gums. And interestingly enough, after quitting coffee, I decided to do just one cup a day and my gums became very sensitive, but no longer bled. Also, I both floss AND use dental floss picks along with a non-flouride toothpaste. Lastly, my diet is BBBE, and I haven't seen a dentist in several years and I no longer drink coffee.
@@loriegosnell9355 i use coconut oil to oil pull. I'm definitely going to have to try your recipe. It sounds like a great replacement for my toothpaste! Thank you!
@@kronos77 Agreed. I noticed Dr Anthony Chaffee is combing his forehead hair forwards. I asked him if he was loosing his hair on carnivore as most women are loosing their hair on carnivore but he won’t answer. I stopped to see what Shawn baker had to say about the death of Dr. John McDougall (starch solution) who died at 77. Shawn Baker mentioned that his own father died at 77 too. I remember Shawn had put his own father on carnivore and said his father was doing very well (I guess NOT). The father of carnivore who wrote all the early books on carnivore Vilhjalmur Stefansson and Vince Gironda who advocated for steak and eggs both died at 80 and 81 from heart issues. They didn’t live much longer than doctor John mcdougall who had-had an almost deadly 💀 heart issue at the tender age of 18. We shall see how long these carnivore influencers live. I will say carnivore seems to drastically age everyone but nobody wants to talk about it.

And I never floss my teeth are tight. The thread always gets stuck in there. It’s been misery since when I was a teenager and had braces I was I’ve never been a floss, but I do the water thing in the shower that helps a lot, but I do brush my gums, probably more than I brush my teeth, and then I make sure I brush the tops of my teeth, so you get all those ridges and grooves of the molars more I used to think spent too much time brushing the sides of my teeth and not enough getting those grooves that are kind of the top of the molars and I have an out of cavity in seven years or soI have just a couple feelings in my mouth. Everything is solid 52 and eating the meat the teeth feel stronger from using them.
you can add extra salt to everything*, salt is life. And lack of salt causes major issues vs over salting. * if you have access to fresh water when you are thirsty. "Sodium intake, life expectancy, and all-cause mortality" and many other studies on this

Strange I was just felling my teeth, it's 5pm and there not gritty feeling. I've been making my own tooth powders for quite a few years, tooth paste gags me.
Maintaining hygiene is for ourselves and others, haha. Nothing worst than talking with someone and they have dragon breath or rockin BO, haha. I choose to try to brush when I wake up and after I eat. Having a toothbrush and toothpaste at work isn’t that tough. I switch over to a boar hair toothbrush and Redmond’s toothpaste.
At 31:45, Huberman says hydrogen peroxide is abrasive. It's not. It's a liquid with extra dissolved oxygen. Maybe he meant "corrosive" or some other term, but abrasive it is not.
I lost 2 teeth recently due to splitting in half, both were back molars. Apparently I am biting down so hard while I sleep its cracking teeth or that is dentist best theory as he said its quite unusual but the perfect line signals most likely break from pressure. Other than that I have great teeth with no cavities ever except for my one other tooth that cracked from a fight and then got infected and filled. I don't count that as a cavity per say as my teeth are very resistant to bacterial penetration but a crack and a small food particle and then cavity. Anyway, what I wanted to say is all my life I have gotten such angry responses from dental assistants where they blame me for my excessive calculus. I even tried 4 cleanings a year and every time I went back to dentists I had a large amount of calculus. So even when I eat carnivore I get calculus and what feels like same rate as mixed diet. So lately I have purchased a dental cleaning kit and just do the cleaning myself. Every few days I do one quarter my mouth. It helps a great deal but if I had normal calculus buildup I would just continue with twice a year cleanings.
@@Audifan8595 all I know is its annoying AF as a fresh mouth is just a mouth with low calculus. Stuff stinks like crazy as I clean it from my gum line and its where bad breath stems from or at least a part of it. Never really had anyone tell me I have bad breath and when I do breath test I don't smell anything but when I get in and scape its quite off putting in smell. Anyway, it could be oxalate dumping. My theory is that my mouth is super mineralized and is why I got no cavities at 54 save for that one mentioned above. I mean its hard and I "think" its minerals combining with bacteria.....just a theory.
I had my best results with teeth when I was eating a lot of butter, I don't know exactly what is in it that is good for teeth but after I stopped consuming it due to some reaction and also started drinking more sparkling water my enamel got visually worse. I'm going to try to cut back on my sparkling water and try consuming tallow that doesn't seem to make me react. Maybe magnesium and vitamin D could also be a factor.

I use nano hydroxyapatite toothpast and chew xylitol gum (I spit it out). Any advantage you see to xylitol when you also do carnivore?
@@kronos77 I quit chewing it because I am sensitive to oxalates.

Yeah, all 129 steps. Too much, imo. Also, I just dont agree with so much of what she says. She recommends products with all sorts of bad ingredients.
I'm following ellie Phillips mouthwash care as well
Dr. Ellie recommended Listerine. I started using it a few months ago.
She won’t explain fluoride use
It’s a poison, period.
So I’m not interested in that method, naw thanx
I listened to Dr. Ellie’s whole video on her 4 step plan and I started using Blue Listerine and Crest. Today I had a consult with a Periodontist. He recommended the rinse Dr. Ellie uses, the one that starts with a C for when my gums get infected and he said the Blue Listerine has alcohol which is not good because alcohol causes dryness, but the original yellow is good. I love not having to floss.
Yes!!! This is why I make my own tooth powder. I started making it years ago. My teeth and gum health steadily improve.
Can I oil pull with simply coconut oil?
I have been carnivore for over two years and no longer get calculus. I just brush with water.
When I was a kid, we only brushed our teeth with salt. I regularly gargle or rinse my mouth with salt
really enjoyed this video, great positive energy!
I floss so much now that I’m on the Lion diet. I get meat stuck in there and it hurts a lot. I’m trying to navigate sore gums in The back of my mouth where the meat gets stuck. I love that he addressed this. So grateful!
I chew my meat in the back with the back molars I think that’s why I get the meat stuck in there.
Thank you for all those informations and specially about acidic water
I saw the documentary called Root Cause .. worth watching
Yes, it's a great docu! Worth watching for sure! 👍
I brush to get rid of bits of stuck meat, but I don’t use toothpaste.
Nimbus is a great soft toothbrush.
thank you sir, love this video
Great content, thanks for sharing
I gotta laugh that people think animals don't eat salt. Guess they never woke up to a deer licking the rock where u peed 🤣🤣
Don’t forget the salt blocks put out for livestock.
No way
He didn’t say that
(I didn’t watch it yet)
Thank you for sharing sir
I have not used fluoride in around 25 years now.
Wow 👍
Good for you - definitely wouldn't use that neurotoxin. Huberman is such a mainstream "TV doc". Sad to see people like Ferrigno falling for him,
I use the sole water also.
I've been using Powdered mineral toothpaste with hydroxyapatite from primal life. Love it! 💕
Great video Dante!
Great information.
Hello from South Carolina
I wonder if you drink the club soda through a straw, if it would lessen the acidic effect on your teeth, so you wouldn't have to discard your entire stock of water you already purchased
You might try oil pulling as a way get your gum healthy. Tons of benefits.
I watched another video that said baking soda is not good for remineralization, however it does neutralize ph and is not very abrasive.
If considering Closys, look into the Ultra Sensitive. Fewer ingredients.
thank u sir
Ken Berry had a dentist on his site. He said to brush with water. Next keep your mouth closed. No mouth washes. Check it out.

My grandpa never brushed his teeth. He smoked and drank and didn't exarcise. He died a 47 years old so there's that!
Brush yes.
Floss less frequently.
No sugar in diet. No plaque on teeth.
I'm going to add that flossing twice a day is going to, I read, cause tooth gapping.
But even at that, twice a day flossing seems excessive.
Brush with baking soda to heal your gums and maintain healthy gums and teeth. Works great in addition to carnivore.

I make a paste with coconut oil and baking soda with a drop or 3 of peppermint essential oil
@@loriegosnell9355 i use coconut oil to oil pull. I'm definitely going to have to try your recipe. It sounds like a great replacement for my toothpaste! Thank you!
there are elephants that go down in a cave for the salt.
Can you invite Ramon Nazone to do an interview with you. Ramon did one year of not brushing or flossing while on carnivore. It didn’t go well.
Unfortunately, many people here would not be happy with anything that didnt show that Carnivore cured and prevented everything bad in the world.
@@kronos77 Dr. Anthony Chaffee is loosing his hair and combing it forward to cover up. Many women on carnivore are losing their hair too.
I bought my son some Epic Xylitol Mints because he doesn’t brush his teeth well and he’s not carnivore. He used them while he had a girl friend, but has since forgotten about them. He has his 👀 on another girl now… so maybe he’ll start using them again. 😂

I've heard calculus can be from oxalate dumping, perhaps that explains its continued occurrence on carnivore?
Check your vitamin D levels, sometimes biting at night is caused by low vitamin D.
