"Skinny" is a term that is over used and usually is used by overweight people. If you were to study slender people you will find they do not over eat and are very active.

Good to see a Doc actually telling people about sugar feeding cancer, as made obvious by scanning for glucose in the body. Almost nobody mentions this. And really good to see you telling people about fasting before chemo. Wasted a huge amount of time of pointless formulas. Everyones different. The scatter around the trends used to make those formulas is so wide they're meaningless. Best way is to eat exactly the same thing every week or two weeks in a rota, then adjust depending whether you want to gain or lose weight. You don't need to calculate anything. Just be consistent and adjust.

Great video! I'm super skinny but wanna do it for mental health reasons, primarily caused by fatigue and energy fluctuations. Starting tomorrow. I'm excited for all that delicious food. If you think about it, Keto allows really just the nicest of foods. More steak and pork chops instead of potato? Bring it!

Let me know how it goes for u? I'm about to start this journey for the second time, the first I stopped because I got pregnant and couldn't handle any food on my stomach it wasn't easy but neither imposible as some ppl might think I'm gradually cutting the carbs cause I don't wanna have a major withdrawn. I'm also a genetically skinny person but had suffered fatigue and developed dystymia in GAD my adult life. Good luck to you!

@@Catrachibarbie The first week I felt like an absolute king. Fatigue went away, I found myself having energy for days and my mood was way up. That 'high' has dropped slightly, causing my mornings to be a tad rough again - still, I feel considerably better than I did when I was still downing sugar and carbs. Regarding my weight: I'm working out, building muscle daily and I've gained about 3-4 kilos. I'm deffo keeping it up.

It’s all about physical and mental health, ketogenic lifesyle isn’t about loosing weight... it’s a holistic approach to health, metabolic health. If your overweight, your weight loss will be a side effect. If your underweight it’s the same, it’s the metabolic syndrome that’s important... overweight, stop eating as much, underweight, eat a little more...it’s all age, active and race related. No one person is the same, yet so many ‘proven’ dietary calorific requisites are based upon this very fact that we’re all the same. Not all calories are the same, it’s been proven by science. Don’t snack, don’t eat because you’ve been conditioned to do so. Breakfast, lunch, dinner is not a requirement for a healthy lifestyle, eat when your body requires it, based on truths of reality.

Thanks for the great video! It is really hard finding info for skinny people and fasting. I've been so skinny my whole life, so I have always eaten "whatever I want" which is mostly junky sugar and breads in hopes to gain weight. I have also been sick my whole life and now realize it's from insulin resistance(pre diabetes) along with chronic colitis. I was just diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer and super frustrated with what to eat, as most healthy food bothers me. I started fasting to heal and sure enough I actually started putting weight back on because my body can actually process what I am eating. And I FEEL amazing and so much healthier. If your thinking about fasting and loosing weight, try it and see how you feel.

The problem with this is it’s all based upon CICO. I’m not saying calories don’t matter… sometimes, but when someone is on a ketogenic diet, especially if they’re fat adapted, their body doesn’t process food the same way a glucose-dependent person does. In fact, there are many who can eat more calories on a ketogenic diet than they ever could on the SAD. It’s a good place to start, but people may need to eat more calories than what this even says in order to gain weight.

Great video. I learned more than I expected. I was looking onto keto mainly for the mental health benefits. I'm a skinny guy, so unhealthy weightloss was a concern. I was planning to just take exogenous ketones without doing the full ketogenic diet. The research papers I've read tell me that the body still uses exogenous ketones even if you aren't on the diet. But one paper I read said that even that can cause weight loss.

Check out Bart Kay. In order to maintain weight especially when very active, on keto, at least one of your meals that day needs to bump you out of ketosis. Not with carbs, but with enough protein and total amount of food. So, a large high protein meal. If you’re eating several small meals per day using keto macros you won’t be able to maintain weight .

Hey there...thanks for the question. I'm not sure which calculation you are using and what your options are for the activity portion of the calculation. As for the fasciculations, it is difficult to estimate their influence on your daily caloric expenditure. I would generally just increase my daily activity level by 10% or so...or bump myself up 1 activity level depending on how the calculation is set up. I know that's a fairly vague answer, but it's the best I can do under the circumstances.

    • @ElectricBlanket1122

Yes. Because the switch by your body to consume carbs while you are on high fat, may give you all the downsides of high fat diet - like cholestrol etc.
Steady ketones supply to body balanaces out the high fat cons so on steady keto, your body will not get into issues with high fat, but it will be dangerous if no ketosis production and high fat was consumed here and there.

The ketogenic supposedly would help with autoimmune disease. I am 64, at the elite fitness level, and my job is physically demanding. I burn on a weekday about 4500 calories. I have had people say I developed thrombocytopenia from the covid vaccine. Don't know about that. It would be hard to continue without great sleep when that is a hallmark of great health. 👍 When I was eating a vegan diet, I felt the best. I still do not understand how an athlete can perform his or her best using fat for energy. When it has always been associated with low intensity training.
