    Hey Pauly, it was good to meet you @ One Eyed Jack's a couple weeks ago during Sturgis. I talked you you about how I installed the Arlen Ness Monster Sucker on my 2017 FLHR with the aid of this video (awesome video!!).
    I have the problem with oil seeping from the breather bolts. It's very minimal, but it makes a mess on the seat, engine and saddle bags. Anyway, I spoke with someone from Arlen Ness and I was told that there was a problem with the first run of breather bolts for the 2017 M8s. They are just a tad too long so a seal isn't being made. He just emailed me and told me they are shipping me new bolts. I will try them and report back if they worked or not. If they fix the problem, I will share my Arlen Ness contact so others can get replacement bolts too.
    FYI - I bought mine off of Dennis Kirk so I can't speak for the ones J&P sell. I would hope since they had a booth in J&P's parking lot at Sturgis that J&P would have the non "defective" ones.
    Ben (from Minnesoooota)

      Great to meet you as well. I'm glad they were able to get you sorted out. The one I installed out of our inventory made the trip to Sturgis and back without any leaks like you mentioned, so hopefully you are right and we have the good ones. See ya next year.

    I just watched this, and noticed that the banjo bolts were replaced and you no longer have the vent holes going back into the breather....what will happen if the discharge of oil or if there is any discharge of oil...where does it go now.?

    I read on your site: "Each filter is constructed from synthetic material that is water resistant, which in most cases eliminates the need for a rain sock."
    What does "most cases" mean? For heavy reains I still need the rain socks? What about riding in the dirt?

    • @jpcycles
      @jpcycles  7 років тому +3

      I would still use a sock in heavy rain or prolonged rain riding. You should not need one in the dirt, but you will want to service the filter afterwards.

    Question.. so on my 17 Street Glide M8, whoever installed the same intake put breather bolts with tubs running out for over flow. Currently, they keep leaking and falling off. Can I replace the bolts that are in there now? I don't see any overflow hoses coming from the one you just installed. Thanks

    If you have stock pipes, no changes on engine, do you need to do tune with this air filter, or engine is going work just fine without tune?? Since you are not changing throttle body and valve.

    • @jpcycles

      We recommend a FI controller but it isn't "necessary."

      I installed monster sucker on Indian Chieftain 111 with Mutazu performance mufflers. I did not tune it or reflash it. Engine works super smooth, I got way better mileage and I'm not sure for a better horse power, but anyway I don't want to increase that. Chieftain is cruiser and works on lower RPMs, it's not design for higher rev and racing. As you said you can do tune but on my experience is not necessary. Cheers!

    Does this require any tuning, or is it simply a bolt on and go, situation?

    • @bhforsyth
      @bhforsyth 4 роки тому +2

      Tuning is suggested for this air cleaner. If you run a performance exhaust with the air cleaner, tuning is a necessity. I run this cleaner with Vance and Hines pipes, and the V&H FP3 tuner.

    Can you run the filter like this or do you need one of their ali covers?

    • @jpcycles
      @jpcycles  5 років тому

      You can run it like that no problem. The only time you would need a cover would be a "rain sock" in wet weather.

    Now, I know the hole in front of the filter will provide more flow, but won't unfiltered particles go through the the hole without getting filtered. ?? Unless there's some sort of filtering element mid way in the elbow portion. ??

    • @jpcycles
      @jpcycles  7 років тому

      The filter is open on the end, but the hole isn't just a hole. There is filter material in a cone shape beneath the opening.

    I have read a couple reviews and am looking to debunk what I have been reading. I read that sometimes neither a metric or standard wrench will work with the bolts that may come with the kit. Have you heard this from other customers?

    • @Mathaury
      @Mathaury 5 років тому +1

      I've installed my monster sucker myself and didn't have any trouble with it. It was just a pain in the *** to get the 2 breather bolts in the cylinderheads because you have to snug them at the same time with the backing plate and if you don't, it won't fit.

  • @lennyhan4039

    Is that locktight 243 that you glued bolts??and is that necessary things?

    • @jpcycles
      @jpcycles  4 роки тому +2

      Yes, putting threadlocker on the bolts securing the backing plate to the manifold is very important. If one of those bolts comes loose and sucks into the intake its bad news.
