Whilst we have been living and sailing on a boat for 7 years, Leaving the safety of the mooring for the first time in our new boat had us on edge. Everything on the boat is old, but new to us, we don’t know what will work or what will inevitably break… we have gone over the systems the best we can and headed out for our first shakedown cruise to go find out!
Thailand is home to some of the most picturesque islands and provides an amazing cruising ground for sailors. With such stunning scenery, Phang Nga bay also attracts millions of tourists every year. As the waters are calm, boats of all sizes, fully loaded with people visit these islands every day making them extremely busy!

Be careful Josh, DC and AC are both no problem at voltages of 12, 24 or even 48volts. But if you get DC up to higher voltages, it will become MORE dangerous than AC.
I'm a retired ship's Electircal Officer and I once had to work on an emergency rudder system for our ship. The battery back-up supplied about 650volts DC and this was supplied from a bank of heavy Lead/Acid batteries. Even though this was just a load of batteries, the combined voltage and capacity of the batteries would easily have killed a person that may have accidently grabbed the wrong cable.
If you grab a cable carrying AC, it will tend to throw you off the cable, but DC with make your muscles contract and you will not be able to let go of the cable.
Remember that ALL types of electricity can be very dangerous if not given the respect it deserves.
Fun being had! Love the way Tallula is right in the thick of it! Every day for quite a while you'll be learning new things about your new yacht. Yosh is right about that AC! Safety 1st!

When I got to the end of the vid a saw Josh taking the tender back I thought “ I’d be taking that thing for a proper fang!”. Then sure enough…..the whole family put it through its paces. 😂😂
3:15 is what your sailing routes are all about!!! 12:00 freakin A, no reason to build anything especially as important as a bilge pump without easy access! Blessing you on your crossing!!!

Actually DC is more dangerous, since there is no sine wave. DC once you get shocked, just keeps going. What saves you on a boat is the DC is much lover voltage than the AC. But, 220 AC vs 220 DC is no competition, the DC kills faster hands down.

Josh, you need to be careful of power. Current measured in Amps is what you need to look at. AC and DC is both very dangerous, BUT DC will ruin your day. In my Data Centre we have AC running at 400V (3 phase) @ 250 Amps, as well as DC, 56V @ 560 Amps. As you can see the DC Voltage is LOW compared to the AC.
Be careful.
