      ***** The experts say that from an early age, even as prepubescent children transexuals feel uncomfortable in their biologically assigned gender . This guy was the world's greatest athlete, had numerous wives and children as a male and then at age 65 decided to transition, so I ain't buying it, I think its a scam to make money. am I right? I don't know, and nor do you, only Bruce knows.

      That would be a good argument but she/he has not faced prejudice. Just the opposite. She/he has received a ESPN profile in courage award, she/he has been lauded and celebrated, made numerous appearances on every network and her/his own TV show. Now she/he has been nominated for Woman of the Year, which seems a bit unfair to me, since she/he hasn't even been a woman for an entire year.

      No announcer could call college football better than the great Keith Jackson. With iconic quotations like "Whoa Nellie" and "Fummmmmmmbbblllee" plus many more, he kept the game moving, exciting (even if it was a blow out) and flat out fun to watch. None of today's talking heads can come close to his brilliance. I miss him dearly. The game is becoming excruciating to watch with all the commercials and endless chatter among those buffoons in the booth. Keith Jackson was the man.

    I watched the 76' Olympics from beginning to end with great passion as a late teen and remember this race. Just an absolute world class performance by Jenner. People don't realize just how stupendous a 47.5 400 is for a decathlete. That's only 2.5 seconds from being world caliber in the event today and this was over 40yrs ago!!

    • @chrisx2k6

      F. Scott Fitzgerald Yeah. HE performed fantastically.

    • @obscurelyvague
      @obscurelyvague 2 роки тому +1

      "F. Scott Fitzgerald" A decathlete must be a more "overlooked" type of athlete than others such as basketball players, baseball players, football players etc (that is regarding sports here in the US) but a decathlete must practice and be good at several athletic endeavors. I don't know if there has been an American decathlete after Bruce Jenner that has accomplished as much.
      Also a decathlete, having to endeavor in several different types of competitions, must NOT be at the same level as athletes that compete solely in running, or javelin throwing, etc. But Jenner came very close at least in this competition.

      @YoknapatawphaKid 9 років тому +5

      I don't say this to be confrontational, but you really need to do some reading on transgender issues - your ignorance could not be more all-encompassing. These are not flippant choices that people make; rather, they are cruel contradictions of biology, men born as women and women born as men, and the sad individuals with those plights live conflicted, agonized lives; it's no coincidence that the suicide rate for trans men is an astounding 41 percent.
      Those are the things the article will teach you, so yes, read it and educate yourself.

    • @YoknapatawphaKid
      @YoknapatawphaKid 9 років тому

      ***** Again, you haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about, and have obviously spent no time reading about the science behind gender dysphoria or the plights of the 700,000 transgender people in America. By your logic, homosexuality would also qualify as a psychological problem that can be treated with therapy.
      I'm not going to argue this point with you, because ignorance can only be treated by personal exploration - and you clearly have no interest in increasing your understanding of this matter. Have fun wallowing in your ignorance!

    47.51! That is ballin!! No, it's not the World Record set by Michael Johnson (43.18) but anyone who has ever ran the 400 at any level tell you what Bruce Jenner did was pretty darn impressive!! Heck, there are a ton of guys out there who just want to break 50. THIS is the Bruce Jenner I will always remember. The guy who won the gold medal in the '76 Olympics. The guy on the Wheaties box. The guy who actually trained incredibly hard, went out, and accomplished something worthy of honor. The whole Kardashian clan can go jump in a lake...

He and his wife struggled at the time; then you see these Kardashian rich kids whining texting on their phones laying on the couch. I think kids in general today have no idea what it is to really struggle for success and your dreams. Everything is just handed to them. And this generation doesn’t even seem to lookup to people who struggle to accomplish real goals or celebrate them. They think struggling is something so simple and barely lifting a finger. He really had amazing drive and determination. Wow

    This way he ran this race was basically perfect for an energy sapped decathlete at the end of first day, the 400 can kill your whole competition and some take it easy when they aren't prepared well. But Jenner was prepared. The way he went out, worked hard first 50 of back straight then floated rather than going too excessive, (great stride length), entered the 2nd bend and ran consistently and technically well. Head started to go at start of home straight but he dealt with the form drop and maintained his pace with grit. A couple of guys started coming back at him but it was a done deal - he got home with a good points advantage. He went right to the edge where he could have 'blown up' and ended up doing 48.8 and feeling terrible afterwards, but he knew exactly what he wanted and nailed. By getting everything right, he turned the 400m in to an unexpected strength event.

Now all he/she is know for is changing genders and being on a tv show. Dont get me wrong, its great that she came out and can finally be who she wants to be. But a part of me wishes HE, Bruce Jenner, the husband, the father, the athlete was still around. Now a days no one cares about her past career as a professional decathlete. He worked so hard to get to where he got, but now all everyone cares about is her future life and not his past life. An impressive run by Jenner. To go out so fast, down the back stretch, and the on the curve, but then the sprint home. Much easier said than done. An old track man will tell you, lactic acid pours out and you can come almost to a halt. The bear jumps on your back, and it's a very painful feeling. But Jenner pushed himself to an excellent time. Unbelievable.

    I was fortunate enough to meet Bruce in Eugene at the US Olympic Trials in 1976. I knew Steve Prefontaine and was devastated when he died the month prior in an auto accident in Eugene. Had a lot of respect for both of them. Bruce was someone I truly admired. He had a fantastic work ethic and was always smiling and encouraging to youth athletes such as myself back then. Definitely one of the high points of my athletic career.

I hadn't seen the full events before - just little clips - so I never understood why my parents would always rave about him at every Olympics after that. Now I totally get it. First of all,you do realize that Satanists, dont actually worship Satan right? In fact Satanists dont believe in god or the devil. The Satanic religion, was invented by Anton Lavey, and its purpose was to show, that people should live their lives in the now, and not worry about what comes next in the after life. I have a few Satanic friends, who are the nicest people you would ever meet! so please don't believe the hollywood bullshit about certain religions! and Second of all, what about all the STRAIGHT people you see on tv kissing and having sex? are they PUSHING their agenda as well? Showing your love for your significant other, is not pushing an agenda. Straight couples kiss out in public all the time, and no one seems to mind. and showing the world WHO you are, is not pushing an agenda either.

    one of the toughest events in track. The winning strategy is to run the first 100 in a sprint, then "rest" during the second 100 meters backstretch, while staying in position to finish and then sprint the last 70 meters or so to win.

    Bruce's transition to Caitlyn really just proves that no matter how hard you try to you can't deny who you truly are! Being an Olympic gold athlete, being married 3 times, having a beautiful family, being an amazing father still does not equal to who SHE really wanted to be. Bruce participating in the Olympics was in a way her attempt to try to push away and "fix" herself but even being such a masculine man the best he could be never gave her that peace, it only added more to her inner conflict. It made my day seeing those pictures of Caitlyn Jenner. She's beautiful and this serves as a great lesson that even a conservative American hero can be transgendered. Regardless if you don't agree it's wrong to spread hate. Bringing religion in the matter is ridiculous and GOD is the only one to judge as the bible says.
