Here's the thing I find the hardest, if you are having gender issues why go and marry 2 more times and father even more children?
I could only put it to denial and uncertainty - that he may have thought he would never be able to make changes -so plug along with who he was then and what his life had been .

His first wife and children are far more gracious than they could have been, considering he abandoned them.The quality of mercy really is an amazing thing. I'm glad they seem to have reconciled.
I have seen this happen more than I would have thought possible. I have seen young women whose fathers were nowhere in the picture while their children were growing up but the daughters still say "I want my Daddy to walk me down the aisle". If the mothers had basically abandoned their children as a lot of fathers have, the children would never have forgiven the mothers. There is apparently a double standard for mothers and fathers. I'm sure that the 1st Mrs. Jenner was nice enough to not speak negatively about Bruce/Caitlin.
And as for the people who brag on how he was a "hero" and came from behind to win the Olympics, they need to see what Jesse Owens and the great Native American Jim Tharpe. had to contend with. Jim had all of his medals taken away from him because he played (I believe it was) baseball in the summer to earn money. He didn't compete in baseball at the Olympics because there was no Baseball Olympics but his medals were still stolen from him and he died in poverty.
For 9 years almost I fought a drug addiction and was absent from my family and children. I’m forever grateful and humbled that they live accept and forgive me . I changed though and have shown remorse. I can’t imagine expecting them to forgive my addiction and just live with it. That would’ve been wrong

My heart broke when he told his son now is NOT the time to discuss this. I am NOT trans but I know the heartache of having kids and as a parent it is your role to be there for your kids period. This is very confusing for them and to want to discuss this and for Bruce to shut him down is so wrong.

I saw a recent interview where Kaitlyn's mom calls and she puts her on speaker phone. Kaitlyn sort of rolls her eyes and at the end of the conversation, just dismisses the call. To have your mom at such a vulnerable time, at her age and who's supportive is extremely fortunate! I'm not a fan.

It's all recorded - he is one of the greatest athletes of all time. He never gave up until he became a true Olympian after previous losses. He has done much for helping the disadvantaged. He suffered horribly over his identity crisis - enough to the point of wanting to finish himself off. People need to let him be happy and support who he is. From what I have found is those who are ugly about it are questioning themselves about whether they're gay or not. For anyone who thinks being gay or not is a choice - I assure you they're gay. Hell just look at the church and all the closet republicans.

@@hollygolightly649 you've got me confused w/ someone else I can tell you I never mentioned transgenderism much less anything heroic about it. My talking point was that he was a tremendous athlete - possibly the greatest in his field. He proved that even as an underdog one could , w/ determination and hard work make a comeback as one of the greatest. This was inspirational to a great number of athletes. I was thrown when I first heard about the transgenderism but in all fairness this could not take away from his accomplishments. I hope he's happy. He is a good person. His children love him and have come to accept his decision which says a lot about them. When I was a young man I was intolerant of gays and transgender. When it was made known to me that I actually knew some of these people I had to do some soul searching. Then when we see what some of these children have gone thru ( suicide even) I did a major about face.

Simple answer is money is behind everything. The financial means has been available to Jenner since the early 80's. Jenner's net worth has been around 100 million dollars since the 80 to present and with this change in gender and being on a reality show could boost that to 500 million dollars in the next few years.
He married 3 times: first Chrystie Scott, then Linda Thomson then kris Jenner. He told the 2 first but then when ahead and hid it from the last one.

Many trans people don't like Jenner, that much is true. It has to do with the impression that he's overly privileged and conservative. And somewhat of a train wreck in some ways.
Most trans people live in poverty due to discrimination and often, difficulty being hired. Many were kicked out of their homes as teenagers, after coming out to their parents. Their religious parents.
So they see someone who has the means to do all this and not have to worry about ever having to work again, and get all this positive attention, and yea it's frustrating.
The sons and daughter did not have a dad. This is huge. They seem to be strong and well balanced. Still a difficult path for them. Glad they have a good support system for all .

That Bruce's oldest four children would support him now says an awful lot about them and the mothers who raised them given that Bruce was absent from their young lives for years. I also feel for the first wife who supported Bruce during his Olympic journey when there was nothing for her to gain. She did it out of love. She birthed his two children only to have him leave when he became "restless." Then again, perhaps she lucked out by getting out of the relationship so early. With Bruce's constant confusion about his life, I'm sure hers was much happier and more content.
