Ritchie became a rock n roll prodigy at the age of 14! Started out playing in California bootleg joints and Mexican cantinas! And all the while rock n roll was still new and cutting edge for the times. He would have been the Rick James the Prince and the Michael of the 50's and 60's had he lived long enough! Actually there has been music like this lots of times. The punk rock movement in the 70's was heavily influenced by this music. Many Ramones songs were basically just slightly heavier 50's rock. In the late 2000's, there was somewhat of a revival of it. And there are many indie groups now that have a 50's flair to them
@@doctorfeinstone6524 the original comment is explaining how this first genre of rock helped pave and influence most genres of music to this day. After jazz obviously, jazz created rock, rock created the pinnacle of of all new genres after that. But of course no one tries to duplicate it… it’s just hard to catch that original wave of magic..

Elvis had an unparalleled voice in terms of the beauty of the voice itself with it's rich sound...but Ritchie Valens understood music better, and had more potential to change music by creating songs.
Ritchie was a rising star - only 17 when he was killed. He was great looking - had sex-appeal - he wrote his own music - played the guitar - he could sing rock'n'roll or ballads equally well. He hadn't at all reached his full potential when he died. Of course it's a matter of taste who you like the best - but with Richies good looks, his rythm and everything, he could have been a serious rival to Elvis.

This was awesome. I was an 80's kid, so this was before my time, but I definitely knew of Ritchie Valens, as well as Chuck Berry...so this is a treat.

I love this so much. I can't stop watching it. Ritchie really genuinely had talent and it's so upsetting he didn't get to live very long. The things he could have done.

This was a 17 year old kid! 17! There is very little doubt had Ritchie lived he'd be on the short list for greatest of all-time in rock n roll and maybe music in general. To give you even more perspective on just how prematurely his life was cut short, Woodstock was 10 and a half years after the infamous tragic plane crash. Ritchie Valens would've been only 28 years old and no doubt still relevant and would've performed at Woodstock. Hell, Woodstock 94 he'd of been only 53 and probably would've performed there as well. Such a tragic loss.
Vim parar aqui pelo filme, já assisti várias vezes e me emociono com a história desse garoto que deixou o mundo tão cedo. Se não tivesse partido tão prematuramente teria sido um estrondo mundial. Até hj suas músicas são lembradas.

Having been to the memorial sight of the crash I can truly say you could still feel the sadness all those years later. I went in 2017 beginning of Feb. It was haunting. I brought my 11 year old too. I think it so important to pass this music on. My grandmother went to school with Buddy Holly and I am from Lubbock where he was from too. Such an innocent time. This music is uplifting and joyful. What could have been. Wow! Ritchie was absolutely amazing! I wasn't even born when he passed - his music just tugs at your soul. 🙏
He opened the door for Hispanics in American music. Latino stars we have today such as Shakira, Daddy Yankee, and si many others might not be where they are at if it wasn't for Ritchie Valens. RIP Ritchie and he continues to live on through his music. Who knows how big he would have been.
Musicians were so good back then, they didn't even need a band. Disembodied drums and bass would fill the air out of nowhere. 🤘
Hey Richie was a legend gave us Chicanos proud heritage but chuck berry is rock and roll god
miguel machorro yup! I agree 100%!
miguel machorro
I'm not Chicano, but I love Ritchie, AND Chuck. Both DEFINITELY RocknRoll gods.🎸👍🤠
He’s half white
Willy Winks
No offence, but your comment is incorrect. Both of his parents were Mexicans from Mexico.
T4TEXASTOM JOHNNYCAT. You are right. I looked it up. All this time I thought his dad was white. But I was wrong.
Gone way to soon is literally the perfect saying when thinking about him. Only 17 and You can't sum up enough words to describe how terrible it was to lose someone so talented and on there way to the top. I mean he would be very well know legend today if he were alive even more as he is one dead smh again gone way to soon. 🎸 That smile he did was so sweet and innocent you could tell he was very nice and good to be around. Rip
Richie was bad, baby, and Chuck sitting there grooving along. Great, swinging stuff
Richie played his last gig 65 years ago today 😭
He would have given Elvis a run for his money, had he lived - Richie Valens.
Estrid Melissa You ain't lying for sure! This guy was phenomenal!!!!!!💜
Elvis had an unparalleled voice in terms of the beauty of the voice itself with it's rich sound...but Ritchie Valens understood music better, and had more potential to change music by creating songs.
Agreed.
Richie was so young and greatlooking - he didn't get a chance to unfold his true potential.
+Estrid Melissa sad so young them 3 Eddie Cochran Elvis lucky as don't think he would be king rock n roll if they were alive
Hes so freaking adorable. Hes was just a nervous cinnamon roll

This is the coolest thing I’ve seen all week! What a voice. I love Ritchie Valens music!
Hard to believe he was only 17 years old. Even his guitar chops were beyond his age. Immortalized forever with clips like this on youtube and the film La bamba. Mexicos first Rock n Roll hero.
He is from USA and he never learned to speak spanish. It was only his mother who was from Mexico.
Man ! I am Gen X and the music from this era Rocks so hard!!!!!!!!!!
Man...you look back at days gone by, and see how much FUN and ENJOYMENT everyone seemed to get out of life, and compare that to the miserable existence we seem to have today, and you have to wonder...where the hell did we go wrong. This was awesome. I was an 80's kid, so this was before my time, but I definitely knew of Ritchie Valens, as well as Chuck Berry...so this is a treat.
“ It’s all about Ritchie! What about me?” I liked the movie ( made me cry when I was 6 years old). I’m 34 now and still cry when ever I watch the movie. I Love his talent. He is one of the reasons why I became a musician. My greatest respects for the familia Valenzuela!
"I know you don't give a D about me", 😅....
He’s so handsome ahhh💕💕💕
2021 anyone..? idc from where you’re from it’s just nice to know that people are still listening to this type of gold
This is from the Movie: Go, Johnny, Go! is a 1959 rock and roll film starring Alan Freed as a talent scout searching for a future rock and roll star. Co-starring in the film are Jimmy Clanton, Sandy Stewart, and Chuck Berry and Richie Valens. Crank this Classic Up!
I always imagine if Ritchie was alive in 1969. I could see his music evolving and being right there with Jimi Henrix as a revolutionary rock and roll influence. Obviously he still was, but he was just beginning.
His Voice🙌🏾 at only 17! This man is a Legend 💫💫💫
I love this so much. I can't stop watching it. Ritchie really genuinely had talent and it's so upsetting he didn't get to live very long. The things he could have done.
Ritchie would have put out so much music in the 60s and 70s , but he was imortled in time. I'm sure they are having a huge music fest up in heaven with Buddy , Big Bopper, Ritchie , Elvis , all the music stars of any era.
Talk about music bringing people together from many different races & places, just beautiful. The only way to succeed, is together. I salute all the pioneers.
oh my GOSH I love this..Ritchie was so legendary and at only 17 years old. I cannot imagine new music from him that I wish we could have had..RIP legendary Ritchie valens!
NATURAL TALENT RICHIE HAD. REST IN PEACE. 17 YEARS OLD THINK ABOUT THAT. I DONT THINK ANY MUSICIAN EVER ACCOMPLISHED WHAT HE DID IN 8 MONTHS. I HOPE HIS MUSIC CONTINUES TO GET RECOGNIZED 100 YEARS FROM NOW.
I like the way he plays lead guitar and rhythm at the same time. That takes talent!
I love this song by Richie Valens..R.I.P. Buddy Holly,Richie Valens & "The Big Bopper" - Febuary 3,1959
I just think of the music this young man could have made if he lived a full life.
The crazy part is the Beatles covered Chan Romero, had Ritchie lived it would have been very likely they would have met and played together. Given Ritchies repertoire was bigger than Chan’s, they would have fed off each other and RnR as we now it post 1964 would have been widely different than it is now.
That's what i think too - how much he could have created over the years with all that talent!!
いやぁ、ガチで、テンションが上がっちゃった👏☕️😏🎶❤️🌟
Ritchie, we LOVE you forever !!! ❤️❤️❤️🎼🎸🎤 Super talented young man gone extremely too soon but never forgotten. Thank you my father for teaching me this awesome artist and his music.
What rock will sound like the following decade. IMO this song is ahead of its time. Love the energy.
Richie and chuck, they made some cool music.
Ritchie was the King of Chicano Rock and Roll that was taken away too young at 17 years of age eight months right before his music career and fame was about to kick off
Just saw the movie again for like the 100th time. One of my idols. Rest In Peace. Rock n roll in heaven with buddy holly!
목소리 자체가 그냥 악기고 리듬감이 최고입니다.
아 아까운 음악천재를 잃다니....슬픔이🙏🙏🙏
Como pode haver deslike. .
Ritchie era talento q não existe hoje em dia...
These kids coming out now just don't have this kind of talent. Raw talent
Ritchie what wonderful boy...17 years old...your music is beauty...rest in pace in the lord...62 years ago...i am 56 years old...see you later rocker angel.....que ser tan extraordinario ...Soy Ricardo de Argentina..cariños a Su familia..
You mean a wonderful man,
His real name was Richard Valenzuela.
And he never learned to speak spanish,
He was only american🇺🇸
It’s amazing, he’s amazing. It’s crazy how you can easily tell he’s young and new to the business with how he presents himself. He has a certain teenage awkwardness about him. Amazing voice and talent though, truly missed.
Interesante el Rock de los años 50s wow! y que voz la de Ritchie valens leyenda
That dude spent the time to learn to play he loved it and lived it ! As did many of those guys back then thats why we are still listening to their stuff today , he may have had a tragic ending but a part of him will live forever
Go chuck and Ritchie
Thank you Ritchie Valens! 😊🎸

Vim parar aqui pelo filme, já assisti várias vezes e me emociono com a história desse garoto que deixou o mundo tão cedo.
Se não tivesse partido tão prematuramente teria sido um estrondo mundial.
Até hj suas músicas são lembradas.
He was handsome and was gonna be a star....crazy how life works....one day you can be on top of the world....then the kiss of death knocks you into the ground 6 feet under RIP RITCHIE
Omg i love you Ritchie 💙 Valens you had a true passion for music and Rock and Roll 🎵🎶🎸💙😘
You will always be in my heart and my Idol i Love You Ritchie 💙 Valens R.I.P💙🎶🎵🎶🎸🎤❤😘
So weird seeing Ritchie play, I've never seen actual footage of him... It's crazy how he could play the drums while simultaneously playing the guitar too!

Just watched this movie called "Go Johnny Go" ... I and saw this scene and one of the reasons i wanted to watch the movie . loved Richie Valens sound when i first heard him ... So good to see him , so soulful sound and... What a talented young man . RIP forever Richie and thanks for the music
You feel the music in your soul. I recommend seeing the Surf ballroom and crash sight in Iowa to any of their fans. A very memorable experience.
This is punk rock at its infant stage when you play this on guitar
Si pero al no tener mucha distorsión o nada pues no se nota mucho
He was AMAZING! I wish there was more videos of him 😢
