this song is so dark and painful. the ending gives me goosebumps every time. it reminds me the pain of losing someone i loved and loneliness takes over me as the song progresses.
Just lost my grandma, then my girlfriend of three years broke up with me the day after her funeral. This music is seriously helping.
We recorded at Hightower the week after they recorded this. Such an honor. I actually flipped the page of Emma's notes to write my own. Special song, special album, special studio.
This song just confirms how depression and anxiety can be so perpetually crippling. And for some of us this internal turbulence becomes an entity in itself and you can't seem to rid it no matter how hard you try. So we befriend it. Embracing the darkness rather than running and hiding. There's no escaping this benign masochism. Emma said it best "Circle down to the mouth of the valley. Kneel now down at the face, at the gate. As every footfall crumbles so fast beneath me. Under the weight of this Eternal Shame. And to you who've given up in the Valley. And to you who've given all to its wake. Just another endless night falls around thee. Just another grey landscape to face. I want to step into the armor of another, stronger. I want to look once through the eyes of someone good.
So I can gather up the names of our mothers.

At the heart of depression and anxiety is abuse and intergenerational trauma, which is why I think she also speaks in the end to overcoming:

As someone who has been doing trauma therapy for months now, that's how I read this song. Then I queue up the live version of "No Dog" by Esben and the Witch.

I can't stop playing it. To place Thou deeper in the mix was a good move. A victory for all .This song is brilliant!
It seems like this song has been dipped in the ocean before being released. You get the "swimming among high waves" feeling. So cool.

Emma is wonderful. Had the privilege of talking to her in the club Mochvara before her gig in Zagreb and also hear her live on three other gigs in Budapest, Ljubljana, and London. She is real raw talent and I hope she lives a long creative life.

I actually disagree massively. I love harsh vocals and, obviously, I love clean vocals, but combining the two is awful 99% of the time.
But not here. Not here at all. I wouldn't have guessed that these two would combine as they do, but they fucking smash it.
there is something about adding clean female vocals to atmospheric sludge metal that just works

@Deborah Meltrozo Have you listened to Zeal And Ardor? They fuse black metal with soul and blues and slave chants. The vocals are very diverse. You have the typical black metal screams but also soulful clean vocals, ominous crooning and everything in between. They're a very interesting band
