That drummer is absolutely mental, so aware of his own dynamics in the context of the song. True musicianship!
They all are
@@havelovewilltravel777 That's definitely true, but I think it shows the most with the drummer, like in his restraint when hitting the cymbals as opposed to hitting the toms/snare
I am glad you mention it
word I'm practicing along with him and was surprised by his solid af slow dynamic swing. love the way this band plays together, Emma makes epic music!
You are right that the drummer is a stand out in this video. Extremely sensitive playing.
i've loved emma and her music for years. her music has gotten me thru some really tough shit, including heroin addiction. this is one of the best live performances i've ever seen
How on this good earth is this even better than the studio version? It's insane.
Agreed, even more powerful and ambient sounding. I love how her voice is literally whispering in the beginning and gets progressively louder throughout the song. Very passionate.
Hell yeah !!!
@@AnUnhingedMind sounds like literally every other adenoidal female indie
She and her band are outstanding, that being said, who ever does the mix on these Audiotree episodes is just spot on.
@@rickdeckard1075 who are some of these other adenoidal female indys that you speak of? I'm quite enjoying this one
This is monumental in very respect. The sound engineer is genius. One of Emma's top vocal performances
Whoever's doing the sound is killing it.
So true my friend
pdg887 I just scrolled down to say the same . There's a live (Tiny Desk?) version of Control where the sound person knocked it out . IMO , whoever does their sound should be considered a member of the band .
Fur realzzzz
@@lisacolbert5987 Do you mean the Highway Holidays TV recording of Darkhorse/Control by any chance? Came from there (so to speak) and yes, the recording is *awesome*
Wow.. what an incredible song and setting! The backing band is tight and Emma's vocals are hushed, hypnotic and so soothing. Excellent artist
Wow. When her guitar solo began, I felt tears fall from my eyes and I didn't even realize I was feeling so much emotion.
same for me when they drop the heavy guitars
That's the magic of Emma Ruth Rundle I guess
Not only do I think she is one of the most talented people I have ever seen, but she is also one of the most beautiful people I have ever seen. I love how you can see the passion and emotion on her face when she sings. I love her
Others have mentioned this is even better than the studio version. I totally agree. Been stuck on this one for awhile. What a gem!
This is my first visit to Audiotree, and my first time hearing Emma Ruth Rundle. There's something really special and powerful in this music, so I subscribed, liked and commented. I want this to steer my UA-cam experience now. It's like, I just found the place from which to start my actual journey. Thanks for sharing this music.
The best comments on the best music videos often come from Pink Floyd fans .
While there is nothing trying to reach for profundity in this comment, it’s groundedness, simplicity and honesty makes it beautiful.
Recently discovered Emma’s music, breathtaking and poetic. Not to mention the riffs and instrumental side, that’s a whole sensory experience in itself. I hope I see her live some day.
Emma is an absolute maelstrom. I fall into these songs and come out at the end, like out of a dream. And by the way, whoever is doing sound should get some kind of a raise. Amazing.
So powerful, so amazing, brings so much to the surface, whether you want it or not. Absolutely incredible.
ERR is the truth. I felt this performance in my bones.
So true
I did too the first time I saw it, and every time since.
ERR is simply perfection to me.
Pure talent. Classy musicians
The way she sings her words reminds me a lot of Copeland. Really glad this came up for me!
I don't know where this magnificent, yet fragile woman draws her powers from, but having seen her live yesterday, I have gazed into the eyes of a powerful storm.
Just unbelievable! 🎶🖤
forever want to lay with you
wanting dust to dust, to fade out
you’re gone
the only church I’ll ever see
are paper hands calling me
“come home, you’re done”
I never was too pretty, just a spirit in this city now
with no one at all
but I’ve never come so far alone
into something beautiful of my own design
Heaven, I’m done
if one and one and one are three:
something in this life I’ll never see
baby is gone
the only church I’ll ever know
is in the Earth, the ground below me says:
“come home now, you’re done”
I never was a pretty thing,
always fight and sometimes scream
for nothing at all
and I've never come so far alone
into something beautiful of my own design
Heaven, I’m done
Oh John, I can see Fire
I can see your Work, the Flames grow higher
I can See - i can See - i can See
I can See in Heaven
Actually these are not quite the right lyrics. These are the studio version. If you listen well, she's not saying exactly the same on this live (& better) version ;)
For miles and miles
when music touches your heart, soul and brain at the same time, shakes you, brings you to joy and tears at the same time - wow, goosebumps all over
Devastatingly Powerful. Yanked the tears right outta my sockets.
One of my favorites live versions ever!!!
So grateful
Jesus Christ, I was not ready for this.
He does not exist.
@@stephenroche5107 He exists as a phrase
@@stephenroche5107 "Oooh look at me, I'm an edgy post-modern nihilist, aren't I cool, urr hrrr hrrr." 🙄
I come back to this every now and then. It's magnificent. Thank you. :)
So.. Here I was. Sitting in my room with some dmt I had finally dried out and ready. I start playing deafheaven honeycomb and start smoking it. Well afger my third inhale I somehow got tired of the song. And managed to accidently make my way through the suggested to click on a random video. I couldnt even make out the mnames of things at this point.. As I lay back in my chair and tirn the light off. I see this.. Projected from my projector on my bedroom wall...... I cannot even begin to describe to you the true untarnished emotion that poured out of my soul as I sit there in silent shock and admiration of what I see before me... I dont thing I would have been ready for this song any tome in my life other then that moment I just experienced 10 or so minutes ago. But I'm so glad it was my time to stumble upon such angelic and masterful music such as this... I swear I had to listen to it again once I came back to my wits just to make sure i wasnt just hallucinating what I had just witnessed.... Does anyone else feel like the entire band looked as though they were under some kind of hypnosis being generated from the lead singers voice? It's almost like I just watched a necromancer puppeteer the whole song and at the same time still being able to play her part flawlessly. Thanks for this. I really love it when I find hidden gems like this on this platform. Truly incredible
Can't believe I just discovered you a few months ago. This song..... changed me...♥️
Authentic, pure, wonderful ear candy 🙏🏼❤️
Visually such a great space they're playing in, too. All the best implications for this kind of music.
I don't know why but I'm crying. So beautiful...
I've never had an abortion or a miscarriage of my own, but this song and Daughter's "Lifeforms" fucking both kill me....especially since my son is my whole goddamn life, purpose and existence. Emma Ruth Rundle - you have a sensitivity that so many lack.
Wow, I’m just slowly discovering ERR, and that was intense! Looks like I have a new favorite artist.
Ran onto this from listening to the new Thrice album. Holy hell. I'm so glad. Was way into Mazzy Star back in college. Emma is so awesome and her band fits great!
One of the best live performances I've ever seen, truly magnificent!
Together with Jaye Jayle she´s just unstoppable. That´s pure emotion and passion. Massive.
Agreed. This is dope. Got to see Emma twice this year. She doubled in goodness the second time around. Love her passion. Jaye Jayle was a great addition to her band and backups
That's Evan Patterson, Jay Jayle is just his stage name for his other project :)
Goddamn. One of the most powerful voices in music today or ever, and with one hell of a band to back it up.
Wow that sound, like Hans Zimmer in movies, that actually pulled at every emotional string... And that solo! just Brilliant.
After a nice birthday of one of my frineds and come home and listen this great song it's a nice way to finish a day. This artist deserves more atention, and more festivals.
I absolutely need this on record, something physical, this recording is astounding on so many levels
She came on my lists whilst KEXP live videos as I was walking across the mountains of North Wales, looking towards the Northern Seas, truly amazing musician and I hope to see her in Nottingham on the 28th of September in England.
She makes me feel again, thanks ... it 's been so hard already, thanks for this soul empowering music
A shot right to the soul, right to the deepest parts of your heart. My favourite singer and songwriter.
Just found this artist. I am very impressed. I love every sound I'm hearing.
Best live performer I've ever witnessed.
These 2 vids definitely do it justice....simply amazing.
Audiotree is top notch.
Thank you for creating such amazing art. I am a new fan. Love it.
I love how ERR's eyebrows make her look like she's pissed by default.
Every time I hear this song, my whole body goes into viceration.
She is so amazing.
Instantly Hooked. Solid!! The Real and True. Between the thin and watered down there are Solid Rocks. Grateful.
The only bad part about the song is that it isn't 2 hours longer
Song is awesome, but whoever mixed the sounds deserves a separate praise.
I saw her live at The Rebel Lounge, when she fronted Japanese band, MONO. (2nd June 2019) She was great!
damn I love this artist and her backing band, seen them live twice now - amazing everytime
Emma Ruth Rundle is AMAZING! The masses are too stupid to appreciate good music.

They really need to do a tour with O'Brother. Each a bit different but their sounds would go hand in hand.

Accidentally it poped out , loving it so much, wow...
So moving and beautiful, very excited to see her next month in Austin!
Damn. I'm speechless.
Ha! I guess nobody has ever noticed that the flute melody in the first 30 seconds was taken directly from Tarkovski's movie "Stalker"!
I hear dis music i feel peace and at home. Thanks 🎸.
That was intensely beautiful
She inspires me!
Im glad Gandalf found a new hobby in the end. Beautiful performance
MrMMurdock
Lol more like Hagrid ;)
More like Alan Moore, really.
Just what I thought when I read his comment. Robby Coltrane!
