I hear what you're saying. People want Lotus to stay the same, but wouldn't own one. Lotus will grow and find new customers. And maybe one day they'll produce a Lotus Roadster, way better and cheaper than the Tesla back in 2008. And even the dewey eyed dreamers might like that.
Never realised Elliot was such a petrolhead. He often says EVs don’t need to be fast or powerful which makes it seem like he’s not that into driving; I prefer organ rearranging acceleration! The Lotus Elise is a fantastic little car. Two seater go kart is such a cliche but so true, a very pure driving experience. I have newfound respect for Elliot and his take on the cars he test drives. What a legend.
As an owner of an Azure Blue Elise S1 myself (W-plate), that was not something I expected to see in an Emeya review! It's great to see that Lotus EVs haven't given up on driving dynamics, but what irks me is how big it is. I'd not feel comfortable around London's width restrictors in one of those. Nice taste in cars either way.
My goodness there are some cracking looking cars coming out of China. Plus the ones designed by Lotus are at the top of the "look back as you leave it" scale. It's gorgeous.
Absolutely. I saw a green Eletre on the street the other day and I literally was craning my neck to see what it was and then had to look back at the stunning machine. Usually only super cars get a similar reaction
I might be wrong but the new Audi rs etron gt performance with the price it has even with all the optional extras picked is the best car in this class. It’s a pretty hard proposition to beat in all aspects.
I was more than happy with the 218hp in my old bmw 7 series and im more than happy with my 136hp in my Peugeot 307, my under 64 hp in my Mitsubishi minicab miev EV Kei van is fine, idont need more hp than that, i really love to buy a baojun cloud but im not sure they will sell them in Australia and they have 136hp as well, its plenty.
The headlights are gross but otherwise I like it (they'll hopefully change the lights in a mid-life update). I've no problem with a Lotus saloon car but the Lotus SUV can %*#@ off.
@@alko_xo It doesn't matter at all if you can't afford them, but for those of us that can it's a key issue. I'm looking at Taycan and the Audi equivalent, but might be tempted to look at the Lotus if the price was right. tbh if you think you're not going to be in the market for this car why even click on the video?
Geely did a nice job, but this should not be Lotus, Lotus should be making low-volume sports 2 seters, EV and non-EV. Colin Chapman is turning in its grave with Lotuses over 2 tons. Elliot awesome to see that you actually own Elise :)
"Finally an EV that doesn't suck at driving".. It is not even close to the Maserati GT Folgore. Seriously, this title is a joke. The Emeya is great, but not better that the Taycan, there are several other EVs that have great dynamics.
Best driving electric car on the market ? I understand you say that as a Lotus owner 🙂 A Porsche Taycan will beat this too heavy too big Lotus hands down. Yes, it is relatively "cheap" , thanks to China government sponsoring...
In the first half of 2024, Geely Auto saw significant financial growth. Revenue increased by 46.6% year-over-year, reaching approximately $14.7 billion USD (107.3 billion RMB). Net profit attributable to shareholders surged by 574.7%, totaling around $1.46 billion USD (10.6 billion RMB). This growth was driven by strong sales of electric and hybrid vehicles, along with expanded international market reach. The sales of electrified vehicles grew to 33.5% of total vehicle sales, with a 117% year-over-year increase in units sold. Additionally, Geely’s export sales grew by 67%, reinforcing the company’s presence in regions like the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Latin America . To further drive growth, Geely is investing heavily in intelligent technology and electrification, aligning with its target to reach 2 million vehicle sales by the end of the year. So… they just can.
Great video. The direction is Lotus in China is better than Lotus in Norfolk ... hopefully! 😎
Lotus in china is just another Chinese electric car but an expensive one . Lotus is dead this is something else

@@ramblerandy2397 An affordable Esprit EV from Lotus would be a dramatic statement 👍😎
thanks for that comparison part regarding the Elise - it was very interesting

I think so long as they have the right ingredients, its about scaling down to something much more sensibly sized next (and better priced)
i appreciate the comparison with an actual elise

Bold statement on the handling when the Porsche Taycan exists!
Awesome

Will it be better than the Porsche Taycan?
of course not
Yes it's better. It's more advanced
For " GT " it is too heavy and too big

We are waiting for the BYD Leapord 8 review, the faster you do it. The more views you get 👍
they took Lotus and made it better! Very good stuff!
2:56 isnt it AWD?
Compare it with Lucid Air, Model S plaid and Xiaomi Su7 ultra plz
EMEYA R - showing as £130k on UK website - £90k for base model.
solid state batteries would make this car awesome! the future is bright for EVs.
I hate those front grille vent.
and the front headlights.
for a sports car, the looks is very important.
I hope they can make enough money from these to make the much cheaper 2 door alternative
They might use the money earned from eletre and emeya to make a lighter 2 door electric lotus at some point, but it won't be cheap

Porsche sales and revenues have collapsed this year. What goes around comes around, you rat.
The only EV's that actually matter are Teslas
