When my boys were young and my father in law was alive he would gift us one gallon jar of honey a year and we would store it beside our wood stove to keep it from crystallizing. Such SWEET memories. ❤
Thank you for showing us and reminding us that you're just normal - messy and disorganized sometimes, and just trying to do your best with what you've been given. You don't glamorize things, yet you still do things beautifully and mindfully. Inspiring!
We have never really kept it organized, it is more like a process of periodically revisiting troublesome spots and painting those areas that are working...
First of all, thank you for showing us your mess. That isn't always an easy thing to do for a lot of women, and it made me very humble today. Just so you know, I am now one person in my house, and there are times I am super glad I have cupboard doors to help "hide" things🤣. Secondly, you look wonderful! Thirdly, I appreciate you.
For deep shelves I really like using the clear plastic bins and then you can slide it in and out and see what is in there. I don’t seem to lose things that easily since I started using the clear bins :) Then for the bottles of vinegars and oils I got a little lazy Susan and it works like a charm!
Exactly what I was going to say! I use baskets to store a lot of stuff in. They look so beautiful when you open up the cupboard, can be categorized, and are easy to slide in and out. I even keep a couple plastic baskets in our fridge to hold things like leftovers, my ferments, and condiments. It has made things so much easier! Thank you for sharing all of this with us, Lisa! It's always a joy!
Just what I was going to suggest. You could label them jams, biscuits, spreads, sauces etc. Also there would be spaces to add some shelves on the inside of the cupboard doors in the pantry. You could put oils, sauces and perhaps even the molasses jar and jams. I put pantry shelves on the inside of my pantry doors and it held all my oils, sauces and larger spice containers. It worked well.
Just discovered your channel a couple months ago. Thought your broom looked like my husband's handiwork. Went to the links and it was😍 I enjoy your videos, absolutely love your beautiful, functional kitchen, and have been inspired to try my hand at sourdough. Thanks for sharing .
I do the same. But I also had my hubby make sliding shelves Out of the existing shelves. Game changer!!!! I can amazing store more and immediately see what I have
I LOVE the cabinet size lazy susans! The two level ones are perfect for spices and the single level are perfect for bottles. Even work great in the refrigerator!
Deep cabinet idea: I’d take those deep shelves OUT in a heartbeat, and use shallow shelves lining all the sides and back (cut the ones you have or use 6-8” planks, same depth as your pretty green shelves on the opposite wall) that way you don’t even need long baskets or clear trays. It’s all lined around the walls on the inside of that cabinet. I DO LOVE your pretty shelves on the left with the jars and the paint color in the whole pantry SO MUCH. Oh and the copper things in the back wall. So good.
Wow, Lisa, any one of those tasks would have been a win for the day and you did ALL of them in one day with a baby strapped to yourself! Simply amazing! It looks awesome and motivates me to do the same.
“Okay, I can’t take this anymore!” That seems to be when we decide to organize too! 🤪 Thank you for the motivation! Your pantry is beautiful! We aren’t naturally organized either! Us girls spend most of our day taking care of the animals on the farm and don’t have an abundance of time to keep things organized…we hope to do better this year though!😜 May you have a blessed year in 2022, from your fellow UA-cam friends from Kansas!
I love how you show that you're holding your baby while you're organizing. Like, it's refreshing and inspiring to see HOW a woman is able to get everything that you do accomplished.
@@Melody-285 I put my first babies in bassinets and most didn’t like it…then realized they looove being bounced around in carriers 😂 of course not always possible esp when they got older.
Baskets work awesome for me with organizing any space. If you can find baskets that fit well on those shelves you can label categories on the baskets and put the categories you use less often in the back. "Exotic baking", "tomato products", "party supplies" or just something super broad like "sugars and sweets"
Loved this! I live in a small older home and have to be creative just like you with storage solutions. Like your hutch I have a buffet that allows me so much storage in the kitchen. Have you ever tried filing the games like books on a shelf? Especially if you are the one who always does the reaching, I find it works better than stacking and stays organized longer, each game goes right back into its empty slot. I use a basket for the little items like card games etc. In the cabinet above your fridge if it's deep enough you might be able to "file" the cookie sheets etc using tension rods as separators , just use sets of two, one up front and one in the middle spanned across the cabinet and file the pans in.
I’m so glad you showed an option of labeling without using a vinyl cutter. I don’t have one and don’t plan on getting one. Another option is writing on your tape with permanent marker. If I’m doing short term labeling (freezer storage) fold one end of the tape. It makes a pull handle. It comes right off. For the freezer I use scotch tape. I discovered this method when saving golden liquid, breast milk😁.
Ok. My personal tip for deep shelves in the pantry. Lazy Susan or installed pull out shelves. Sheet pans/baking pans, store on edge and use lid racks to separate for easy access.
I never watch any blog before until I discovered your blog just a few days ago and I have watched most of your videos..enjoying every part of your life, .your big family , the farm with animals , your creativity and hard work in every part of your life....I guess you could say I am living vicariously my youth dream through you.....you are amazing and I wish you a great year in your beautiful home with your lovely family and beautiful home..
Thank you so much for sharing!!! I admire you so much and it was relieving to see even your home can get piled up with stuff like the rest of us! If you don’t mind, could you also do an updated organizing video on your kids clothes and how you handle saving clothes for future kids to grow into? I’m so overwhelmed by my kid’s things and would love to see how you approach it!
I looooove to watch your vlogs. So inspirational. Im dreaming of life as yours - we have house on big estate, currently 35weeks pregnant with first baby and Im so looking forward for our big garden and maybe chickens later on. Love cooking and taking care for our home and little family (for now)as you. Im So grateful.
I can second what you said about the tasks that need to be done more than once a year. We are a big homeschool family and I find that it's once a quarter, definitely. I was not able to get to half of what I needed to in the fall, but I did get to the missed spaces over Christmas break. It makes all the difference in the world when it comes to the flow of homeschool days and life when spaces are organized!
Feels like a monthly thi g for me here... 12 kids with 5 left at home... things get out of order if I don't stay on it even though we're very minimal ❤️ your channel!
That nook of yours is so beautiful. The carpenter who made this is pure genius! I did a similar job in the hallway of my master bedroom. A useless nook made a great closet. So much more storage now and much needed even with 2 walk in closets. Still trying to get rid of things we just don't need. I really need a couple of those pot racks. My kitchen cabinets are in desperate need of organization! Thanks for this video 😊🙏👍
Lisa, well… I’m exhausted!! Oh yeah, you did all the work. A job well done. Organization being part of my cleaning business, this was a very satisfying video. I love that you don’t go crazy with new costly containers. Mason jars are my friend. I am a basket lover as well. I try to help people use what is in the home already. Soo satisfying! People with deep cabinets/pantrys, I help them do a little map on inside of door to guide other members of the household to what’s further inside. I bet your daughter would love to do that for you. Thanks for a great refresh of all your kitchen areas.
Deep cleaning, gotta love it because you really feel less stressed after doing it. I usually organize and clean deeply 4 times a year.....unless of course my mother in law comes to town LOL!!!!
I’m a single empty nester but I can relate a lot to both your physical kitchen and your style. First I recognized a number of the old/antique pieces that you use. Yup, they’re in my kitchen! Also, our style has many similarities. So, I was able to take away some concepts as well as practical and functional ideas. My very small kitchen is mostly original to my over 50 yr old house. I use an antique, crudely made but charming hutch for extra storage. (Did I mention that, although I live alone, I love to cook and entertain friends so I have lots of kitchen ware.) In a deep, narrow cabinet I used cup hooks, top and bottom, and strung clothesline up and down to them to create “dividers “. I store all my trays, shallow pans, muffin tins, cookie sheets, and more, vertically between those dividers. The amount it holds is impressive and I can access every one quickly and easily. No stacking!! The other thing that works really well for deeper cabinets is to use a plastic bin with the smooth side of self stick hook-and-loop tape stuck to the bottom at each corner. The boxes slide easily as if on a gliding rail. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Hope mine work for you or someone else.
Lisa the pantry you are cleaning out that has your packaged goods and stuff, you should add mother board in from that would give you even more space then you could put your packaged goods into glass jars and get rid of all the packages you could see what's in there! ☺️
With the little cabinet section inside the pantry... Have you thought about maybe putting pull out drawers that you can purchase at places like Lowe's or Home Depot and install yourselves? That will give you more access to the back part of it.
For your deep cabinet, maybe install vertical pull outs? If that’s too expensive, then maybe clear organizing containers if you can find some that deep and that are your prefer width size?
I have a friend with a similar cabinet and when she redid hers, she bought long baskets that were the same depth as the cabinet so when she needed to get at something she could just slide the basket out. She put some tags on the front of each one with what was in the baskets so it was easy to find. Maybe that would help with your problem cabinet?
I’m not a professional organizer but I love cleaning and reorganizing the different areas of our home. For me it’s easier, for example, to clean my fridge inside and out about once a month than it is to tackle after it begins to smell or the grease has settled with dust on top and become impermeable. I store a lot in canning jars so I see in a glance what I need. Afterwards I feel so much calmer and accomplished. I know, my sister says I’m weird. 🤪
I don't know what it is, but I love some organization in my home and I love seeing the tools others use as well! Gives me great ideas, too! Thank you for sharing this type of video. Sometimes we just gotta revisit areas as we all forget what we have and that doesn't do us any good. Reminds me, I also have to clean out my fridge. 😩 haha
Thank you for showing the thought process. Gave me some extra inspiration for organizing. My husband took over the kitchen this year while I had knee surgeries ( for which i am very thankful), he organizes as an engineer, by fitting the most in. He is also tall, so I can't reach things now. I organize by type like you do. I think we need to go through together, and figure things out. I appreciate how you and your husband care for your family, and work to support yourself. We were homeschoolers.too, and i supplemented by teaching classes, and working art festivals in the summer.
There were so many tips here that I needed to hear! For example just moving things or refilling things can create more space and leave the space so much more organized. Thanks so much for the inspiration and how to have a clear mindset for the New Year. Many thanks.
I keep my most use spices in a square basket I just grab down and set on counter when I cook daily... so keeps it away from moisture and no clutter... but keeps them usable. We all have to find what works for us. I love your home
I have that same grain mill. I got mine around 17yrs ago! I have to put mine on a small round rolling cart with baking tools on the shelf below it. The bottom one has my dutch oven. I just tackled my pantry and a chest freezer today. It feels good to get stuff done!
Hi Lisa, I am watching this video and I am thinking what might really be a great help for you to see everything in your pantry cupboard is to have sliding drawers installed. I used to have a deep pantry, too, so I can definitely relate to your situation. I enjoy your videos very much! -Gina
You are amazing! You never skipped videos for us, even you are very, very busy Mom. Thank you. Me, the same. After holidays I’m trying to go through all my closets, drawers to refresh them.
I would take out a shelf in your deep storage cabinet and place all the electric items that you had on the bottom shelf. Then use the bottom shelf for your items that get lost in the deep storage cabinet.
Lisa - I’m going to search your channel for a video on how you use your grain mill, then use the grain afterwards. If you haven’t done a video already - that would be a really informative one. Appreciate your channel!
It makes me feel so good that you have things that get out of hand and you have to regroup Makes me feel better lol lol...of course I don't have all going on that you do...so thank you!!
Your pantry open shelf and bread flour cabinet behind doors: You could add more shelf space by adding the kind of little shelf stands that you added to your hutch. Go up toward the ‘ceiling’ of each cabinet/open shelf where there’s a whole lot of potential for additional shelf space. Anytime I see those white coated wire mini-“shelves”, I get them. They’re great in any pantry, hutch, under sinks, the garage, everywhere. Doubles the function and organization of the storage area.
We like to store our games standing up on their sides like books. That way when you want one you just slide it out and don't have to stack and restack.
I just found you and this is my 3rd video I am watching. My first thought when you said that cabinet was deep and a toss all, I thought maybe dividing in half or thirds and create rolling shelves. You can organize and pull out each section easily to see what you have, find what you need and then put away without fuss.
I know I've said it before, you have a dream kitchen...I just love it. Clear varied size bins you can pull out like drawers. In deep shelves makes things so much easier and a whole lot less frustrating. Having stuff corralled and easily accessible is a good thing!🙂
I am thinking that I should start using more jars as they may take up less room then even the plastic containers I have...mmm love the pantry and also the idea for your spice jars of stacking them.
This tine of year I always get the itch to clean things out and organize! Glad I am not the only one. Looks great Lisa and hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as well. 😊
Thanks for the inspiration! How about long clear shoe-box sized tubs for that deep area in the pantry? Label each tub then you can pull out what you need. 🥰
Another way to be able to get to things is to get the refrigerator bin, clear acrylic containers that are shallow but big enough for your cabinet space, put all the like items in those and then it kind of becomes a drawer to pull out so you can reach the things in the back of the cabinet more easily. I have those in my lower cabinets so I can get to things.
We have deep shelves too and the best thing I can ver did was get buns that were the depth of the deep cabinets and grouped like items. Them when I brought groceries I pulled each bin out and put the new items in the back.
I love January for starting a new year and all the possibilities that brings and for getting organized. I remember when my seven girls were all still small and cleaning out the fridge gave me so much joy, seriously there is nothing better than having a clean, organized fridge! I started a few days ago organizing my spice cabinet, it feels so good to have everything in jars, and out of bags. Happy New Year to you and thank you for your videos, they are a highlight to my week!
Another idea for the deep pantry shelves - you can install pull out shelves, which mount on the sides and slide out. They're sort of like low drawers, so nothing falls out while pulling forward. They are made for base cabinets and you can buy them at Home Depot in the custom kitchen section.
For your random pantry you could use long clear bins that act like drawers that you can pullout giving you easy access to products in the back. I do this slot for clients who have really deep shelves. It works great!
For the deep shelves behind those doors, get those pull out metal racks and attach them to the wood shelves so it makes it easier to pull the whole thing out to see what you have stored back behind things. Home Depot sells them as well as Amazon. They’re a game changer. Now I need to go declutter my pantries😬
a little late to the game but def a great video! Def needed this today! My kitchen cabinets look ROUGH and it def needs a good cleaning and reorganizing. Thanks for the inspiration!
Idea- use the long shaped bread baskets to store things in that pantry door area using space front to back. There’s also rectangle clear plastic storage things people use infringe from online. I got some from Amazon. Some from Walmart.
This is a great video. I’m inspired! Love the color of the pantry. I’m wondering how long you will be wearing Baby Theo. He looks so contented but it must make all your work and stretching and reaching not so easy. What a loving mother you are. I just love all your content and you are the first person I look for when I turn on UA-cam. 💕
I need to go through our stuff too and clear out a few things. Today I was so tired of my new bag of flour sitting on the counter because it won't fit in the pantry that I baked some muffins for tomorrow's breakfast. Then the new bag of flour fit in my baking cabinet and I was happy because I had muffins and less clutter LOL
Great motivation! May I suggest, you should put some pretty shelf paper in the wall cabinet in your pantry. I am still saving $$ for a main living area makeover. Want to knock a wall down in the kitchen to add a bit more counter and cabinet storage. Put hardwood floors down in the new open area!
Happy New Year! 🎈🥳🎉 Great time to organize/ re examine what is necessary for everyday! Hats off to you for your house management & doing it while holding ur baby!! ❤️🥰😘
When my boys were young and my father in law was alive he would gift us one gallon jar of honey a year and we would store it beside our wood stove to keep it from crystallizing. Such SWEET memories. ❤

I am amazed at how much you can get done with Theo in the sling (and the rest of the family around)!!
It's not an easy feat that's for sure hehe
Wow, Lisa, any one of those tasks would have been a win for the day and you did ALL of them in one day with a baby strapped to yourself! Simply amazing! It looks awesome and motivates me to do the same.

So happy to see someone labeling jars the "old' way as I do...no fancy stuff needed..😄
Btw love your pantry...
thank you!
No fancy cricuts love it! I'm very over that. Simple and sweet please.
That pantry is nothing short of a work of art. It's stunning!
In my deep cabinets I put things in baskets or trays that I could slide in and out to get to the item I needed. It helped this short woman a lot
For the deep cabinets you could put like ild lunch trays or old cookie sheets down to slide in and out and see

My goal this year is to definitely declutter. I feel so much better when my world is organized!
Hi Lisa,
I am watching this video and I am thinking what might really be a great help for you to see everything in your pantry cupboard is to have sliding drawers installed. I used to have a deep pantry, too, so I can definitely relate to your situation.
I enjoy your videos very much!

Words cant express how inspired I am by you. Thank you so very much.
awe! thank you so much
I would try long narrow bins/baskets in the deep cupboard so you can pull them out and see what you have easily! Create drawers essentially.
Always a relief to get reorganized.
For long deep cabinets you might try long plastic bins. You can put everything in there and pull them out to see what you have in the back.
You are such a wise woman. 💝
Lisa - I’m going to search your channel for a video on how you use your grain mill, then use the grain afterwards. If you haven’t done a video already - that would be a really informative one. Appreciate your channel!
It makes me feel so good that you have things that get out of hand and you have to regroup
Makes me feel better lol lol...of course I don't have all going on that you do...so thank you!!
Wonderful job Lisa. Nothing like having things organized. Love it ☺️!!! Happy new year🎉🥂🕛!
I am definitely motivated to get my kitchen organized!! Why is it so much fun to watch others clean and organize 😁Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for motivation! Going thru pantry and refilling spices.
Love your pantry and everything looks great! Oh, I love your home! 😍🥰
Sunday is the day I am opening the spices and rubs and marinades cabinet ! Oh my you do not want to know.
Thank you for the motivation.
Touch ups periodically definitely a good idea. Thanks so much.
Yes. These videos are my JAM 🙌
For your random pantry you could use long clear bins that act like drawers that you can pullout giving you easy access to products in the back. I do this slot for clients who have really deep shelves. It works great!
They have lots of these at Ross, TJMaxx, and Ollies stores at great prices!!
Just this morning, I organuzed my pantry because i couldn't see what was on the top shelf. Ferls so good!
Love your pantry. Beautuful colour. Wish I had something similar; my has doesn't have a pantry at all so I always have problems keeping my stuff.
Happy New Year!! Blessings to you and your beautiful family!
Definitely motivated me! Love your kitchen
Always such a joy to watch your videos
Can't believe you did all that in one day!
Happy New Year! 🎈🥳🎉
Great time to organize/ re examine what is necessary for everyday!
Hats off to you for your house management & doing it while holding ur baby!! ❤️🥰😘
