When one takes in the effects and high quality of production, the film 'budget' becomes it's own joke as if they had plenty of money and keep trolling that part of film making.
The fact this got made at all is a miracle. From the “leaked” teaser that was the highway over pass scene, to the lack of real funding, and lack of faith from the studio. And now it’s one of the highest rated superhero movie outside of the MCU (for now). It’s so good.
I’ve never clicked on any alert FASTER. Such a great movie! No one can see a bottle of Ajax without saying ‘Donde esta Francis?’ or ‘where’s Francis?’.
Weapon X was a program to give completely normal humans genetic mutations, and strengthen the genetic mutations of already existing mutants (Wolverine getting Adamantine in his bones). The serum they are injected with gives them the X gene but it will not be activated in normal humans unless they are subjected to extreme moments of stress (tortured) where their bodies believe them to be on the brink of death so it turn the X gene activates giving them a mutation to survive the ordeal. In Deadpool’s case however it didn’t mutate him, it mutated the cancer in his body. The cancer mutated in order to grow new cells and help him survive, basically giving him super cancer that left him in peak human condition, gave him godly healing, increased agility, speed, and reflexes due to the non existence of factors such as lactic acid, muscle soreness, and loss of breath.
Close, Deadpool has a healing factor that sees some of his cancer cells as normal because they were there before he got it. In the comics he specifically received wolverines gene
I get a huge kick out of the part where Deadpool says "Wait!! You're probably wondering why the red suit? Well, that's so bad guys don't see me bleed. This guy's got the right idea, he wore the brown pants." 😅🤣 I swear, Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool. He nailed the character so damn well that we forgot about the atrocity that was the Green Lantern movie.
I always wondered if that was their way of saying, “please let Deadpool into the MCU” since it’s one of the few meta things they didn’t go out of their way to call out.
@@OfficialMediaKnights I don’t know if you picked up on it, but when he was going in, he said, please don’t make my super suit green. Obviously a shot at Green Lantern. But then he said, or animated, referencing the fact that he became Deadpool for a little while at the end of Wolverine. But it was all CGI. The biggest problem with his movie was going to see it. I had a hard time figuring out when to take a drink because I didn’t want to spray the person in front of me.
@@AgentRedShirtIt was also an extra jab at Green Lantern, since in that movie the Lantern uniform was not a real suit - it was completely animated, a CGI suit on him.
The humour self awareness and fourth wall breaking aren't just gimmicks for the movie. If you read the comics Deadpool has always done this. He's the only character who's actually aware he's in a fictional universe.
Yeah, She-Hulk also does it and has been doing it longer. There's a couple others (Baby Groot and Agatha Harness for example) but She-Hulk and Deadpool are the 2 most known for it
The thing about Deadpool's skin: it's not burn scar tissue. Since his mutant power is regeneration, of ALL his cells, that includes the cancer cells. His power just pushes the cancer away from his healthy organs to keep him alive, so.... his skin is tumors :P And yes, Ajax is the name of a dish soap, which in turn is named after Ajax, the King of Salamis in Classical Greek myth, who was said to be "stronger than all of Greece". Ajax the dish soap is "stronger than all grease" :P And of course none of his henchmen know his real name, which is why Deadpool gets nowhere asking for Francis :P Also, unofficially acknowledged but that is a derelict SHIELD helicarrier Wade and Ajax are fighting on at the end.
I can always hear the old 60's commercial tagline: the male tenors finishing with 'Stronger than Soap!' But when you wrote out stronger than all 'grease' - it finally made sense after all these years - a pun I never got - Why this cleanser was named Ajax.
"Negasonic Teenage Warhead" is the title of a rock song from the 90s by the band Monster Magnet. I'm feeling like Ari and Denise haven't seen "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". Yes?
Best superhero movie. The ultimate joke in this film is that he’s always asking where Francis is but no one knows him by that name and nobody tells him here he is, so he's killing them for not giving him imformation they don't even know. 🤣
Watching Deadpool shut Colossus up with that final blow at the end is always so satisfying. He actually expects Wade to spare Ajax after what he did to him? 😂 These holier than thou type heroes always get on my nerves.
To be fair, that's Colossus' whole shtick. He got a mean streak though. Like his little tag team he does with Wolverine. In the comics they changed it up. Instead of throwing Wolverine at enemies, he throws enemies at Wolverine. Claw-side up.
Colossus was actually supposed to be like a traditional superhero, delivering uplifting speeches and morals and suggest that Deadpool is better than he thinks he is. In a Captain America or Superman-style movie, he would probably be the protagonist, but since he’s trapped as a supporting character in a Deadpool movie, the joke is that he’s forced to act as a foil to all the insanity going on around him.
@@GeekSquad24B Nah, he's genuinely just a nice guy/ Even in the comics, he does always try to resolve things peacefully, which is ironic given his friends consist of Deadpool, who is an unhinged sociopath and Wolverine
@@MrBoyYankee Oh I'd love to have done that, but being 14 at the time fellowship came out it was hard to scrape together enough allowance and/or force my parents to watch it over and over.
my favorite joke in this movie is the fact that wade keeps asking people about Francis....when literally everybody who works for him only knows him as Ajax lol.
We can all thank Blade 3 for the existence of this movie. Ryan played a quick-talking vampire slayer, and if the director pointed out, he was basically playing Deadpool. Ryan had never heard of the character, so the director gave him a stack of comics, and he fell in love with the character.
Side note-if you watch Wolverine(which preceded Logan) Yukon tells him she sees him dying holding his heart in his hand. X23 holding his hand was a throwback to that…
They've come a long way from the 'epic' Lost in Space scene where they set up multiple cameras in a circle around the actors suspended for a nice tracking shot impossible for a single moving camera. Now every detail can be 'explored from any angle - surprised that scene (from Deadpool) isn't a sculpture for sale.
In the comics Vanessa was a mutant. She had blue skin & the ability to shapeshift like Mystique; but unlike Mystique her ability went so far down to the genetic level she could reproduce the powers of the person she turned into.
Around the time Deadpool first appeared in Marvel comics, they introduced the concept of a secondary mutation. Basically, when a mutant underwent great stress (usually in a life threatening circumstance) a dormant secondary mutation would be triggered. This lead to the situation we see in the movie, where they tried to trigger this hidden mutation in seemingly normal people.
LOVED riding with you guys on this one :-) I think this was needed after Logan. And I keep having to remember how much younger you guys are - Wade's end scene in the bathrobe. obviously riffing on Ferris Beuller's Day Off. And if you need to, add THAT to your 80s watch list. 👍
Ricardo Montalban who played Khan Noonien Singh in Star Trek 2 - The Wrath of Khan was also the star of an infamous 1980 commercial for the Chrysler Cordoba with its fine rich Corinthian leather seats...lol 🤣😆 The running gag is that none of Ajax's men know who Francis is, so they couldn't tell him even if they knew. 😂
This will always be my favorite superhero franchise movies. It has everything that makes a movie great and worthy of paying a high-priced ticket to see! Great reaction, guys, and Denise's expressions were adorable! 😄
No joke, I was in a parking lot getting ready to drive home and I was so stoked when I got the notification that I am letting my groceries thaw in the trunk so that I can sit here and watch this ffs! 😅
"I think we can all agree shit just went sideways in the most colossal way" *cue Wolverine Origins Deadpool* "Well, maybe not the most colossal" Love how that moment was basically one big middle finger to a certain hypothetical Deadpool XD
12:03 It's interesting you say that. In 2004 there was a Deadpool comic and in one of the panels Deadpool says that he looks like "Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Shar Pei". That same year Ryan was in a Blade movie and everyone said that his character in that movie was Deadpool-esque. Fascinated by the volume of people who felt this way, Ryan picked up a bunch of Deadpool comics, and the first one he read was the one where Wade says he looks like him. Ryan Reynolds has been in love ever since. The way things played out kinda feels like the universe wanted this.
I love how, despite being an x-man with their "no kill" mentality, Negasonic has no problem killing people any time Colossus isn't watching her - she technically has a killcount of four during the last fight sequence.
that line "Vanessa's working on plans a,b all the way through z, im just memorizing the details of her face. like its the first time im seeing it. or the last." fucking brutal.
I'm not an English native speaker, so I don't get every joke or reference in this movie but I still have a BLAST watching this! Can't wait for the sequel!
the interesting thing about the scene with Jeremy the Stalker is that his rapid switching between threatening to laughing to affectionate would make him even MORE terrifying to jeremy, simply because he wouldn't know exactly which iteration of Wade would be coming after him if he did resume stalking.
21:00 The enthusiasm for Slap-Chop is hilarious. The phrase "stop having a boring tuna, stop having a boring life" still pops into my brain randomly at least twice a month.🤣
-The end credit scene was a homage to Ferris Bueller's Day Off. If you haven't seen it, you should watch it of the channel. -The final battle takes place on a decommissioned Helicarrier -Vanessa, in the comics, is a mutant, they paid homage to her character with the line she has played many roles, but a damsel in distress wasn't one of them. -Bob, the guy he let live in the end, is an homage to one of Deadpool's sidekicks, Bob, Agent of Hydra and his wife Gail, is in honor of comic writer for Deadpool, Gail Simone. -Ajax telling Wade he was going to sew his mouth shut is in reference to the Deadpool no one acknowledges. -The one person with all the skies going out of them when they were rolling Wade in to start working on him is Husk. A Morlock, and one of the only Morlocks to make it onto the main X-Men team. -The joke about the studio not having money for any more X-Men was a dig at FOX cause they refused to pay X-Men cast members to make appearances, the movie was only granted $58 million. -Cable is the son of Cyclops and clone of Jean Grey, Madelyne Pryor. -Written by True Heros is reference to FOX wouldn't pay for the writers to be on set to make changes to the script, so Ryan Reynolds paid them to be there daily out of his own pocket. -There are more, but these are the most interesting ones...
Fun fact:Ryan Reynolds is a massive marvel fan before stan Lee passed he pitched The idea of Dead Pool to stan that he loved it that much he made dead Pool and said if anyone's playing dead Pool it's gonna be Ryan. And that's how he landed the roll
Deadpool isn't a mutant. He got his powers from the weapon X project. Basically, all he needs is a single cell left alive in order to regenerate. Only way to actually kill him off is for him to get sucked into a blackhole.
That would definitely work but so would putting DeadPools body into an incinerator that uses several falcon engines as the flame source in such a way that not a drop of blood or other bodily fluids containing cells leaves the body bag before it’s inside the incinerator with the door closed tightly which would ensure that not one cell remains alive and then if necessary though probably overkill throwing what is left behind into a black hole not to mention running the incinerator nonstop for at Lesa week if not a year
Just found this channel, and I have to say. It's really well edited. A lot of reaction channels leave out the best bits. We'll done, can't wait to watch more.
I love when people come to this one. I got to this in the theater. It delivers but I remember especially I was captivated the entire time. There's no lulls or scenes where I drift off at all. I was also glad it did so well and became a cultural phenomenon. I recall it had low expectations hanging over it and it exceeded them. As did the second. Just an all around great job done on this film.
Actually, the kira knightly name drop was more of a reference that they were also including the character "Domino" being kira knightly played a live action adaptation of her. For those who say otherwise, the evidence speaks for itself
This film got released around Valentines' Day, which is why when Deadpool impales the last henchmen, he goes into the speech "You're probably thinking 'my boyfriend said this was a superhero movie'..."
It's stupid they didn't think Deadpool could work because he's a character who's aware he's in comics/movie. As if nobody ever broke the 4th wall before. Whoever leaked the test footage was brilliant because it may not have happened without that.
It’s not stupid if you think it more logical and in corporate perspective. Sometimes these 4th breakers could be too hard to work with or miss used be more annoying than needed but also in day and age where everyone is sensitive about something being very vulgar and brutal could easily get the company so much stupid drama and of course amount of cgi used in brutality but also characters like colossus if goes wrong and movie flops it could have easily lad to so many people getting fired to company or two getting shut down. It has happened many times in movies and game making so that is very reasonable concern just lucky to have story written well and dynamic are good because it could have easily been awful and done so much bad preventing second movie and the third movie which I watched and enjoyed all 3 with 2nd being weakest personally
You guys are quickly becoming my favorite reactors, right next to TBR Schmitt and Cinebinge. This is the undisputed top three in any order you prefer. :). Keep on keeping on!
The only part that sucks about these Deadpool movies is that I can not stop seeing Deadpool in every movie that Ryan plays in now 😂 he was born to be Deadpool. He did amazing!!!
Box office wise, this is one of the most successful movie. At a budget of $60 million and raking in almost $800 million without China market, No IMAX release or 3D release.
To answer your question about Vanessa. In the comics, she is also a mutant. I don't mind that they changed the character for this movie. I don't know if they will ever address it in the films. She's cool in both versions. I'll not put any details about her abilities in case people don't want possible spoilers. She's a very cool character there, too.
You guys are quickly becoming my favorite reaction channel. I just love watching you take every kind of content seriously. It is just so great to watch you. So, even though I follow a lot of reactions, I feel like I can say this with true honesty and not just being polite: Thank you for your reaction! It was great!
My favorite factoid about this is that Morena Baccarin is a Juliard-trained actor. She went to the most prestigious performing arts college in the US and put it to use saying "Happy International Women's Day."
They just understood the character! Everyone from Ryan to the director and writers made sure to keep the authenticity of the character when adapting him. The action is fantastic and the comedy just hits the spot!
I think one of the X-Men comics or films actually confirmed that every human is born with the mutant-gene (or X-gene) but as they mention in this, not everyone has it actively. I can't fully remember though. Also, I I know Green Lantern isn't the best film, but I still enjoyed it.
Hi, guys! "Deadpool" is not only one of the best superhero movies ever made, it's also arguably the funniest! Ryan Reynolds definitely understood the assignment! He deserved his Golden Globe nomination for "Best Actor, Musical or Comedy"! Even the closing credits were hilarious! The only thing that would've made them better would've been if Ajax was called "Francis" there, too! Other Ryan Reynolds suggestions: "Buried," "Free Guy," "The Croods," "Turbo," "Smokin' Aces," "Life," "The Adam Project," "Red Notice," "The Voices" and "Deadpool 2" (naturally)! I also loved your"Train to Busan" reaction! Another South Korean film suggestion is "Parasite," which won several Academy Awards, including "Best Picture."

What's fascinating (and it's implied here) is that they injected Wade with Wolverine's blood (specifically his healing factor) and that's the reason Wade's basically immortal (plus a curse by Thanos) Wolverine's healing factor is so strong that it keeps the Cancer from killing him, but Wade's Cancer is *so* aggressive and end stage that it prevents the healing factor from destroying it. So Wade's basically in a perpetual cycle of all of his cells dying and being reborn almost constantly.
_Deadpool_ was not only green-lit, obviously it was made on the filmmakers' terms, not the studio's. The latter just needed to know that people really, really wanted to see *that* movie, not what the executives might have had in mind.
Thanks for the reaction. Great movie. Reynolds was made to play this part. And Now for Something Completely Different: I would absolutely love to see a reaction of "Arlington Road" (1999) with Tim Robbins and Jeff Bridges. 32:38 “There was something wrong with the relationship, and that was the only catharsis that they could find without violence.” 😂 I don’t know if that was written or improved, but that might be my favorite lines of the movie.
Deadpool's body looks the way it does, because his healing factor is the cancer. He essentially got the reproductive/growing cells of cancer all over, with the damage caused by what was there at activation shifted to the outside.
If you've noticed, the final battle takes placed on the old style, Helicarrier 40:40 that and the weapons in his cab… I'm surprised he still had his job in the second movie
42:09 I love the little detail they added in this scene. You can see blood coming off of Deadpool as he's actually getting shot but he keeps going. It's as if he's using maximum effort to save Vanessa or he's mastered his healing factor, which explains how he recovers so quickly from a knife to the brain later on.

This guy's got the right idea, he wore the brown pants." 😅🤣
I swear, Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool. He nailed the character so damn well that we forgot about the atrocity that was the Green Lantern movie.
Even when we forget about green lantern we constantly reminded with the jokes and shots at green lantern 😂
@@Dan42069___ At least the quips are more entertaining than the movie was
Interesting side note, the final battle here takes place at one of the destroyed SHIELD Heli carriers from 'Captain America Winter Soldier'.
I always wondered if that was their way of saying, “please let Deadpool into the MCU” since it’s one of the few meta things they didn’t go out of their way to call out.
Often said but not sadly true. The Heli carriers in the Winter Soldier had four engines. If you look closely the one in Deadpool has six.
It's a legally distinct "X-Men universe" helicarrier.
@HenryLoenwind and they totally had permission first....
Ryan Reynolds is the perfect harmony between "born to play this character" and "only ever plays ONE character."
Ryan Reynolds is perfect for this role 👌.
He really is, he just shone in this!!
@@mizrolist So it was a doubleshot green lantern plug? I didn't catch that.
Every actor is born for a particular role & he found his😎
The humour self awareness and fourth wall breaking aren't just gimmicks for the movie. If you read the comics Deadpool has always done this. He's the only character who's actually aware he's in a fictional universe.
She-Hulk also breaks the fourth wall frequently, even to having the comic writer change her storyline .
Yeah, She-Hulk also does it and has been doing it longer. There's a couple others (Baby Groot and Agatha Harness for example) but She-Hulk and Deadpool are the 2 most known for it
(laughs in Ambush Bug)
@dr.burtgummerfan439 Ambush Bug is one of my favorite comic book characters!
Yes other characters occasionally break the fourth wall but Deadpool is always aware of his own story.
The thing about Deadpool's skin: it's not burn scar tissue. Since his mutant power is regeneration, of ALL his cells, that includes the cancer cells. His power just pushes the cancer away from his healthy organs to keep him alive, so.... his skin is tumors :P
And yes, Ajax is the name of a dish soap, which in turn is named after Ajax, the King of Salamis in Classical Greek myth, who was said to be "stronger than all of Greece". Ajax the dish soap is "stronger than all grease" :P And of course none of his henchmen know his real name, which is why Deadpool gets nowhere asking for Francis :P
Also, unofficially acknowledged but that is a derelict SHIELD helicarrier Wade and Ajax are fighting on at the end.
I can always hear the old 60's commercial tagline: the male tenors finishing with 'Stronger than Soap!' But when you wrote out stronger than all 'grease' - it finally made sense after all these years - a pun I never got - Why this cleanser was named Ajax.
that makes sense... kinda like "the fly" (reboot)
I thought that the cancer cells also get rapid regeneration, so they scarred up his body.
The "we don't talk about THAT Deadpool" line was perfect
he makes an appearance in the sequel
We don't talk about deadpooooooool BUT... ~proceeds to sing about him~
Weapon 11..
A subtle joke is that Wade keeps asking for Francis when everyone knows him as Ajax. He never had any chance of finding hm that way XD
It’s hilarious. Especially knowing that Francis hates his name 😂
Wade knew
I always loved the opening scenes. Thanks to you two for adding your reactions, giving me more ways to appreciate this movie.
The opening is just fantastic!! Thanks so much for the kind words and support, it means the world to us!
My wife and I watched this the night before our wedding. That's the kind of people we are.
It's a romance comedy. So seeing it before your wedding is quite appropriate.
did you get any honeymoon ideas?
So romantic
The Adventure time watch Deadpool wears is a throwback and a half🤣 quality show
"Negasonic Teenage Warhead" is the title of a rock song from the 90s by the band Monster Magnet.
After what he made Wade go through I don’t blame him 😂
To be fair, that's Colossus' whole shtick.
This was the most watched movie I saw in the theaters of 2016.
A total of 25 times in its first run.
Whoooaaa hell yeah! Can definitely relate though, this movie was HILARIOUS!

my favorite joke in this movie is the fact that wade keeps asking people about Francis....when literally everybody who works for him only knows him as Ajax lol.
X23 holding his hand was a throwback to that…
Wolverine: Immortal. That's such a cool reference! Never saw it that way
The slow-mo intro stuff in this movie was groundbreaking.
That Ferris Buller ending was classic.
too bad they didn’t get it
@@ThePorkchopExpress975 Many younger reactors miss that joke.
In the comics Vanessa was a mutant. She had blue skin & the ability to shapeshift like Mystique; but unlike Mystique her ability went so far down to the genetic level she could reproduce the powers of the person she turned into.
I hope they do that in future movies
I still can’t believe after all these years we gotten 2 Deadpool movies with Deadpool 3 coming out this year
3 just wrapped filming, only 6 months to wait now till we can see it
if it comes out with disneys recent meddling
Ricardo Montalban who played Khan Noonien Singh in Star Trek 2 - The Wrath of Khan was also the star of an infamous 1980 commercial for the Chrysler Cordoba with its fine rich Corinthian leather seats...lol 🤣😆
The running gag is that none of Ajax's men know who Francis is, so they couldn't tell him even if they knew. 😂
"All the dinosaurs feared the T-Rex" has to be the best line in this.
This will always be my favorite superhero franchise movies. It has everything that makes a movie great and worthy of paying a high-priced ticket to see! Great reaction, guys, and Denise's expressions were adorable! 😄

"I think we can all agree shit just went sideways in the most colossal way"
*cue Wolverine Origins Deadpool*
"Well, maybe not the most colossal"
Love how that moment was basically one big middle finger to a certain hypothetical Deadpool XD
Fun fact , Ryan Reynolds only did the X-men Origins movie after the studio said he would be able to do a proper Deadpool movie at a later time.
The way they wrote some of the dramatic moments was excellent!
I love the fact that Deadpool uses the feminine version of Francis’s name when he’s asking in Spanish
"Donde esta Francesca?" - it was hilarious 😂
I'm not an English native speaker, so I don't get every joke or reference in this movie but I still have a BLAST watching this! Can't wait for the sequel!
You DO know there IS a Deadpool 2, right?
@@deepermind4884 Of course I know. I mean their reaction to the sequel😂
a lot of the jokes are sly references
Pairing a boyscout like Colossus with Deadpool was an inspired decision.
As I'm watching this the news just came out that Deadpool 3 just finished filming. Ryan Reynolds is celebrating.
the interesting thing about the scene with Jeremy the Stalker is that his rapid switching between threatening to laughing to affectionate would make him even MORE terrifying to jeremy, simply because he wouldn't know exactly which iteration of Wade would be coming after him if he did resume stalking.
-The final battle takes place on a decommissioned Helicarrier
-Vanessa, in the comics, is a mutant, they paid homage to her character with the line she has played many roles, but a damsel in distress wasn't one of them.
I love the Ferris Beullers Days Off tribute at the end.
@1:15 First rule about Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine is “We don’t talk about that Deadpool.”
Fun fact:Ryan Reynolds is a massive marvel fan before stan Lee passed he pitched The idea of Dead Pool to stan that he loved it that much he made dead Pool and said if anyone's playing dead Pool it's gonna be Ryan. And that's how he landed the roll
Ryan Reynolds has NOTHING to do with creation of that comic book character. Just with his live action portrayal.
This is the Deadpool we knew from the comics. Great to have writers who actually know the source material!
Just an all around great job done on this film.
can't wait for the new deadpool to come out. one of the best marvel characters imo. love the content, can't wait for the next
He’s a great character and definitely entertaining to watch! DP3 is gonna be a blast! Thank you for watching 😄
I really Want Them to Make a Deadpool video game, i know they made one in 2013 but that one was pretty Bad.
Actually, the kira knightly name drop was more of a reference that they were also including the character "Domino" being kira knightly played a live action adaptation of her.
For those who say otherwise, the evidence speaks for itself
The “I watched this in the theater now I’m forcing my girlfriend to watch it” pipeline is TOO strong with this movie 😂

Maybe Part3
Ryan Reynolds x Deadpool is just goated . Adult humour is peak entertainment and Marvel but more creative and Raw

My favorite factoid about this is that Morena Baccarin is a Juliard-trained actor. She went to the most prestigious performing arts college in the US and put it to use saying "Happy International Women's Day."
OMG YAS!! This is the best Superhero Comedy film ever!! All I have to say!

Or "Breakdown" (1997) with Kurt Russell and JT Walsh. Both have few to no reactions out there. Especially Arlington Road will stick with you for a while. The best movie nobody knows about no more...

I don’t know if that was written or improved, but that might be my favorite lines of the movie.
I love how deadpool is fully aware he's a character in a comic book, can break the fourth wall, everything about this character is fucking amazing
Deadpool's body looks the way it does, because his healing factor is the cancer. He essentially got the reproductive/growing cells of cancer all over, with the damage caused by what was there at activation shifted to the outside.
Love watching reactions on movies that I personally really appreciated, and got to say, you both like exactly the same humor
If you've noticed, the final battle takes placed on the old style, Helicarrier
40:40 that and the weapons in his cab… I'm surprised he still had his job in the second movie
