- Welcome to our first time watching as we react to Jurassic World (2015).
In Jurassic World (2015), the dinosaur theme park envisioned by John Hammond is now a reality on Isla Nublar. The park features genetically-engineered dinosaurs, including the terrifying Indominus Rex. When this hybrid dinosaur escapes, it unleashes chaos across the island. Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), an animal behaviorist, teams up with park operations manager Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) to save her nephews and contain the rampaging creatures before they destroy everything in their path.
The Jurassic Park Saga continues bringing us more awe-inspiring dinosaurs, heart-pounding action, and stunning visuals! It was really cool to see some of the changes and how this film differs from the rest. Loved how they expanded on just how smart the velociraptors are and even gave us a tactical squad of them! Echo, Charlie, Delta and of course the main star and the Beta of the team Blue.

@@OfficialMediaKnightsit’s actually not the Spino bones. Spino was on the second island. She never was brought over to the first island. They had completely abandoned both islands by the time she was grown up.

@mrdavman13 it's not THE Spino from JP3, but it IS the skeleton of a Spinosaurus that Rexy smashes through.
@mrdavman13 Actually what @thatenglishgentleman said is correct. The skeleton that the T-Rex smashed through was in fact A Spinosaurus skeleton, just not THE Spinosaurus skeleton from JP3 on the second island.

Fun fact : the reason the indom didn't flip thr truck that owen was under was because it was a crane and the only relationship she has is with a crane

It's a nice detail that the I-rex goes back to the crane, examines the cable, and sees that it is part of the truck.

An interesting theory about that is that Owen Grady was in the End of Jurassic Park 3 when the Military showed up, like what Eric said “She sent the Navy and the Marines”
I’ve heard a couple of theories about Owen in JP3 ( unseen ) but yeah
36:45 - The slow delicate piano when we realize they're in the original visitor center delivers such a solemn serving of nostalgia. Almost like a funeral march through a world where no lessons have been learned yet.

@@Renoistic Nah, it keeps with the themes and is actually consistently self-aware where it needs to be. But we get it, you probably watch RLM/ can't enjoy anything anymore (neither are mutually exclusive).
A few fun facts:
The T-Rex in this movie is the same one from the first Jurassic Park movie. They ended up recapturing her for the new park.
The Spinosaurus from JP3 is actually theorized to be the first hybrid dinosaur to be made, but was abandoned when the hurricane hit the second island where the movies Lost World and JP 3 happened.
The assistants death was criticized to be unnecessary and unfair, but it's actually the most realistic in the sense that dinosaurs don't care whether your a good or bad person. To them, you're food and nothing else.
Owen's and Claire's kiss after Claire knocked that dino off of him was unscripted. Chris just went in for the kiss without the actress knowing so her surprise is genuine.
Slight correction on the kiss between Owen and Claire. The kiss was actually intended, it was just a later addition. But the director chose not to tell Bryce it was happening to get a genuine surprised reaction on the first take. Also i think the take used in the movie wasn't the first take just so they could get it right. She seemed to be a good sport about it regardless.
Yeah about Spinosaurus kinda on our face, since the movie started all about genetics and attractions, we can tell by the baryonix+spinosaur fusion they did and on books tell they are in middle of a "Biogenetic race", so we kinda see that. Plus since always they were hybrid with other animals, its a good excuse for the "different from reality dinosaurs". I wonder if T-rex cant see u stop is reference to a specific animal used, other than paleo-theory. those are my fav theories. i love the spino design

always hated how the next 2 seemed to have the dinos only eat bad or random people, as if suddenly imbued with a stomach with morality,as some pathetic apology for letting animals do what they do. Lets be honest, Eddie didnt deserve his death,especially That way in The Lost World, yet Jurassic Park III went merrily on chowing down on nice people. but..in the times with live in now....ugh
Also the actress playing the assistant was super excited about the scene, she did all the stunts herself.
The thing I loved about this movie was how they truly made the Indominus Rex feel like a monster instead of Rexy who only ever attacked out of pure primal instinct…It was killing for the sake of it, it was killing the tactical team for enjoyment and it could have left the compound at any time but chose to mess with Owen and the others, This is what Ian feared would happen all the way back to the original movie, “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn’t stop to think if they should”.

See this just goes to show the amazingness of the writing in the first one. That monologue has stayed with us, through all of these movies, always echoing in the back of our heads! The Indominus absolutely felt terrifying - its design, the setup was handled so well and made it feel almost like some kind of 'abomination' - and it was a natural progression to the previous ones. It comes down to profit instead of asking 'if they should'.
These whole new JW series comes down to profit. So preoccupied with special effects, they never stopped to think about writing a good script. These movies are so bad, that they make you think JP 2 & 3 were masterpieces of cinema.

R.I.P. Irrfan Khan 🕊 He really was an great actor
So underrated! He was in a handful of American blockbusters, but he really shone in Hindi and Independent films.
I actually sympathized with him a lot more than I thought I would in this movie! Obviously they wanted a similar character to what Hammond was, but they absolutely knocked it out of the park. He's a businessman but he is also largely ethical and cares about his customers and his staff. When the I-Rex gets loose and slaughters the containment team, he IMMEDIATELY takes action. He orders Wu to immediately cease operations (Having realized that what InGen has been doing is wrong and must be stopped to save lives) and goes PERSONALLY to deal with the I-Rex in order to both save time/lives and to spare his staff from his own eventual fate.
Fun fact. The rifle Owen uses is a Marlin Model 1895 SBL. On Marlin's website, it was the only rifle rated for hunting T-Rex's.
Yeah Zara's death was absolutely brutal. To make things worse for her, Zara was about to be married too. Zara is also the first female character in the entire Jurassic Park franchise to die onscreen
Fun fact, Zara's actress herself requested such a death for her character. She also did not have a stunt double, she did the death scene herself
Bryce Dallas Howard herself pushed for Clair to wear heels for the entire movie, up to and including when she ran from Rexy
All I can hear is Mauler calling Howard "Heelz" in his review.
The fact Bryce Dallas Howard wore her Louboutins the entire time during shooting.

It's not badass it's dumb. Any survival situation, one important task is to take care of your feet. From keeping your feet dry to preventing cuts is a must. Blisters suck, as well as the infections that can be associated with blisters. They were in a damp environment that could destroy a person's feet. Trench foot is not fun.

Here is what the Indominus Rex is actually made of:
1. Therizinosaurus for long claws
2. Carnotaurus for prominent eyebrow horns
3. Rugops and Majungasaurus for scale ornemantation
4. Giganotosaurus for immense size
5. T. rex
6. Velociraptor
7. Tree Frog for certain environmental adaptation
8. Cuttlefish for camouflage

If I recall correctly there was also a popular fan theory that Indominus could've been given human DNA (Specifically that of Dr. Wu, it's creator) as a sort of artists signature... which would help explain why its so insanely smart (as well as, perhaps, the opposable thumbs). It was potentially hinted at on the in-universe teaser website they put out for this movie, which provided a confidential list of animals used to create Indominus, but with one still left labeled as "???"

@@Fettman89I dont know where you got this information from, but it's not correct. Other predators such as lions have also shown to hunt for sport, at least occasionally. Of course humans do it more than anyone else but other species have been observed to do it too. Just look it up.

It's actually crazy to think that the indominusREX in this movie wasn't even a fully grown adult. Just imagine the sheer difference in chaos, death, and destruction there would have been if she was an adult when she escaped😮

Adding on to the fun facts: The actress playing Zara, the caretaker that got picked up and dropping into the water tank specifically asked to do her own stunts and be killed off in a brutal way!

In the lore, Jurassic World opened in 2005. In the movie the park has been opened for 10 years.
There is no lore. Outside of what the movie said yes sure it opened in 2005. This movie has nothing to do with the Jurassic story.

The first park fell in 1993 in that time the dinosaurs were round up including the T-Rex that Clair released. A new park was made and opened in 2005. The dinosaurs on Island 2 were left there and the island was sealed off after the event of JP3. All the lore is here.
If you want facts. A real-life jurassic park has been opened for 25 years. On the island of Azores in the Atlantic Ocean. Only the super rich elites, their families, and friends are allowed to go. It is made up of not only dinosaurs but other species as well. Won't go into detail how or what or why and when, but, believe it or not. Commoners have no idea. No lore. No myth. No BS. Straight facts. Thank you.

The Imax experience was fun. My mom and brother were terrified and I was just smiling ear to ear. The Indominus was a savage.

Whoaaa that must have been a blast for sure!! We loved the Indominus and how the built the tension and anticipation!! Savage is the perfect word to describe her!
Another point to add in: At the start where the two brothers are heading into the park, we hear the music building, the nanny and Zach were not too impressed, but Gray was basically the audience and when the line is said "I don't want to wait anymore!" the windows open and BOOM the music hits hard. I bet every person got the chills and a little teary eyed when we seen the park again.
I did literally tear up in theaters, yes!

Michael Giacchino’s theme for Jurassic World is honestly just as emotionally powerful as the Jurassic Park theme, it sounds like how it feels when a dream has come true.
I like to think the reason Blue and Rexy teamed up so willingly is since animals can sense lethal intent they recognized that the I-rex in that moment was just in murder everything mode.
They can also sense when an animal isn't right. Like with illness or poor socialization. Usually one wouldn't make it that far into maturity before others dealt with it.
Jurassic Park was my favorite movie when i was a child. When this movie showed the park with the music on the backgroud the child in me was so happy I cried in the theather

The funny thing is the directors gave Zara "assistant" and long and painful death is because she was the first female character death from this franchise to die. They wanted to emphasize that this "Trilogy" from this franchise will be different than the original. Respect her name, REXY. She's the OG T-Rex. She will not be replaced by some freak of lab, want-a-be. 🤌💅🏽 I'll let you guys form your own opinion the next two movies.
They just felt it’d be interesting to kill a character who didn’t really do much and hell they weren’t wrong, people are still talking about how this was “undeserved” and “cruel”. Like yeah Arnold, Eddie and Udesky all had it coming right

It's certainly a memorable one, and definitely a smart choice to keep people coming back to that moment. It was still brutal as hell though 😂 We're definitely keeping an open mind with the next ones and are excited to keep going!
I thought it was because the actress herself asked for her death to be the most over the top possible
You can actually see in the intro just how psycho the Indominus would be. When they're hatching, the first one (was meant to be black colored) was a bit more calm, the second, our antagonist, was way more fidgety, eye darting all around. Something might've gone awry with even during its creation...
I don`t care that the series isn`t as strong as the first Jurassic park. They are fun. Its feckin Dinos and a massive score.
I work with a chap who lists Jurassic park as one of his favourite films despite not believing in dinosaurs.
Katie McGrath was the actress that played Zara, the personal assistant. She did all her own stunts.

idk if someone commented this but fun fact!! when the indominus escapsed, owen hid under the crane. the same crane used to feed her, The indominus KNEW he was under there but Owen stated the only positive relationship she had was with the crane, hence why she didnt destroy the crane :-)

In all seriousness though, I love this movie. Seeing it in the theater was amazing!! I remember when my family and I were walking out of the theater, my Dad admitted to me that this film was possibly the most fun he ever had watching a movie in theaters at the time. He loved it so much that we all went to see Jurassic World again a week later!!

I don't know if you realized it, but the doctor in the lab that said he can't tell what they used to make the new dinosaurs, is the same doctor from the first movie, the one Mr. Hammond called Henry when they saw the baby raptor hatching.
BD Wong was hilarious in the movie "Slappy and the Stinkers" (1998). What a classic! From dealing with rampaging Dinosaurs to dealing with a rambunctious Sea lion!!

Also that character is a big part of the Camp Cretaceous series, which I actually really recommend watching after Fallen Kingdom. You see a lot of the events of the first two Jurassic World movies from another angle.

When this movie came out in theaters, me and my brother went to go see it and I swear we all cheered and hollered when T-Rex and the Indominus went at it hahaha that theater was going insane 🤣 it was so sick! Huge Jurassic park fans 🙌
This film is my favorite in the franchise. Even though this isn't the majority opinion, it's also good to see that overall people like this film.
I hear people say these are bad, but I always found them fun and enjoyable.
The man playing Masrani, owner of Jurassic World, is a legendary Indian actor Irrfan Khan. He is one of the most natural, expressive and best actors India has ever seen!
Starring in more than 50 movies, he has been a part of quite a few Hollywood movies, including Jurassic World, Life of Pi, Amazing Spider-man, Slumdog Millionaire, Inferno, The Namesake etc.
Sadly, we lost him in 2020 due to cancer.
But his legacy lives on!
I hope you get to explore more of his work someday!
Everybody cheered when the Indominus Rex got taken down by the Mosasaurus when I saw this in theaters. It was the redeemable moment we all wanted to see because of the Spinosaurus killing the T-rex in the third film.. 😁
It was so good, I saw it in 3D at the cinema and got quite the scare 😂

That guy with the margaritas was Jimmy Buffett, a tropical singer/songwriter who also owns a hotel/restaurant chain called Margaritaville, which one of these restaurants actually has a place in Jurassic World and can be seen in this film!
40:12 fun fact, that particular rifle is a Marlin 1895, it is the only version on their website rated for a T-Rex.
Fun Fact: Dr. Henry Wu is the original actor from Jurassic Park.
He was also in the game Jurassic World Evolution
in the original movie you can get a glimpse into his character because at one point you can see him erase something on a clipboard, something that would never happen in a scientific setting, he's altering data.
The ironic thing is that the indominus ends up being bested by its two main genomes: the trex Rexy and the raptor Blue.
The OG rex rexy returns in this film, and the final fight even now still gives me goosebumps

There's a few fun homages to the previous JP films here, like when Clair's assistant was sitting behind the kids on the monorail she is reading Dr. Ian Malcom's book. Also in the final battle when the T-Rex faces the Indominous Rex it smashes a skeleton of a Spinosaurus, as if to say sorry for letting Spino kill Rex in JP3. And the one line that sets up the sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, is when the military guy says "Imagine this [Indominous Rex], but a fraction of it's size, and what we could do with it."
First Chris Pratt is a Guardian & now he's a Dinosaur Man. He is full of surprises.
Have you seen The Terminal List. He does the most convincing soldier in modern memory.

My daughter loved it. I like the first couple seasons of it. It lost me once they left the island.

Just a tip: if you guys are gonna watch Jurassic World: Dominion, I suggest watching the extended cut. It's better paced, plus more exposition and context to scenes.
If I remember it correct the actress that played the assistant did her stunts herself, which was shown in like behind the scenes video, how they did the wirework. the actress herself is also pretty known from the supergirl show playing Lena Luthor and the merlin show playing Morgana.
I don't know if you guys catch it later but that Asian geneticist is the same dude from the first Jurassic Park. The one talking to our main characters in the lab.
For a soft-reboot/sequel this was hands down my favorite of the Jurassic World films. I love the plot the new cast of characters especially the dynamic of Chris Pratt’s Own with Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire and the nods to the original _Jurassic Park_ film, when Gray and Zach saw the abandoned building and Rexy, plus Owen’s bond with the Raptors, especially Blue.
Also I didn’t realize that the actors who played Zach and Gray were Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins respectively cause I knew the former was Simon in _Love, Simon,_ and the latter although I first saw and knew him as Harley Keener from _Iron Man 3_ I didn’t realize that was Ty himself when he played Gray.
Looking forward for the next reactions to the Jurassic World films.

My favourite detail about the T-Rex versus Indominus Rex is that Tyrannosaurus Rex basically translates to "Tyrant King". That T-Rex is specifically the og one from the first film as you noted. The T-Rex is back usurping this pretender and claiming back her rightful throne. Having Blue tag team and then the Mosasaurus at the end be the one to finish the fight was also super poetic. Long live the queens!

The Indominus Rex went through many changes in appearance during the development of _Jurassic World._ The director of Jurassic World, Colin Trevorrow, has said that it was difficult to design "because we needed it to feel grounded in genetic attributes of animals on our planet right now."
The first design was created by Legacy Effects as a digital sculpture. Aaron McBride and his team at ILM then further designed the Indominus with the aim to create a fictional dinosaur that still appeared grounded in the natural world. One early design by Aaron McBride was similar to the one seen in the film, but had a more triangular antorbital fenestra like that seen in members of Carcharodontosauridae (the family that Giganotosaurus, one of the dinosaurs used in Indominus's creation, is a member of), more quills, had only three fingers, lacked osteoderms and horns, and had a small sail located on its neck like that seen in some restorations of Acrocanthosaurus. In the storyboard by David Lowery the Indominus resembles McBride's design with its arms shorter.

It dosent have Metriacanthosaurs dna. But it dose have Deinosuchus, Quilmesaurs, vivanator and pycnonemosaurs dna. Also it's not confirmed if it has human dna.
The billionaire guy flying helicopter is a great indian actor who died too soon in the movie and in real life😢

This movie was in development hell since the third Jurassic Park movie, with many scripts and ideas being floated and then scrapped. The way I kept up with it and was ECSTATIC when they finally confirmed a real script and they were shooting it...wow. Getting to see it in theaters was the culmination of 12 years of waiting, and it did not disappoint! I'm glad you guys enjoyed it!

4:46 I remember getting teary eyed once I heard that iconic theme and then 5:13 once the kid opened up the window I wept at the sight my childhood dream realized, a fully functional dinosaur theme park. Just like that kid I was a MASSIVE dinosaur nerd, so I was listing off all of the old and new dinosaurs I researched as a kid.

As Ari said, the nostalgia hits are well-placed and not over done, so you feel like you're coming back to a familiar place, rather than feeling like it's a soulless cash grab-y sort of movie.
The score brings in enough of the old themes to amplify the cinematography.

The scientist, Henry Wu, who escapes off the island is from JP1(he's the one who talked about the dinosaur's being all genetically designed to be female). He also is the one who came up with the idea to make the dinosaur's have frog DNA to replace the gaps(which allowed the dino's to change sex and procreate).

Good that you mentioned it. The skeleton that Rexy smashes through is a Spinosaurus, doing a bit of a "Take that!" to JP3, where the Spino killed a T-Rex.

I always loved the fact that they added in that detail - that the Rex in Jurassic World is the same Rex from the original Jurassic Park. That she's the same anti-hero she was in the original movie and she's still Queen of the island. The scars on her neck are the scars left over from the fight at the end where she "saved" everyone - the scars having come from the Raptors that kept trying to go after her neck when they fought in the original visitor's center, saving Allen, Ellie, Lex, and Tim.
