In case you didn't realize, Atsumu's inner dialogue is the very same Kageyama had when him and Hinata performed their very first quick (episode 4 of season 1). Also, the irony of this scene. Karasuno usually assimilates other teams' strong points and makes them their own (omnivore crows, right?), but this time it was the rival team who did the copycatting. The Miya Twins are scary.

The reason they replayed scenes in the beginning of this episode is because it's the mid-season premiere, which aired like 10 months after the previous episode, not because of budget constraints. Personally I feel like they went harder in this back half in terms of animation compared to the front half.
That’s what happens when annoying fanboys constantly spam every single reaction channel before they even get to season 4 about the animation.
Yeah the covid thing Suraj talked about was in regards to the first half of season 4 not the second.

@@shockzz1234 no. The first half of S4 aired from January to March 2020, so it barely missed the pandemic. It was the second half the one that struggled with it.
@@viviennewestwoodruinedmylife I mean, if you know literally anything about animation then you would know that yes, S4 struggled a lot with animation and it was due to the fact that it was produced during the pandemic, heck, it was even delayed a season, premiering 3 months later than originally planned and even then to finish it on time they had to outsource a lot of inbetween animations and even entire episodes (like ep. 15). This is why a lot of elements looked pretty bad, a lot of receives especially were really poorly animated.
So it's totally fair to warn everyone who watches Haikyuu that this season was made during the pandemic, regardless of the fact that in this specific point Suraj was indeed mistaken, and it had to do with the mid-season thing.

I mean for casual viewer (and not really volleyball enthusiasts) S4 is hard to follow, is full of past references and more mature and serious, less time to "just laugh", so to speak. It's a wonderful match to watch, therefore we can't expect them to be attentive

SO basically, when Atsumu says "This position. This timing. This angle. It's perfection!" It's the same thing Kageyama says when he first does the super quick with Hinata in the first season. Atsumu takes one look at their quick this game and instantly replicates it which freaks the entire Karasuno team out. Can't wait for the rest of the episodes!!!!!

The best part of this episode is that the spikers in the audience have insight into how those playing their position in the game feel, while the setters commenting have a completely different angle of perspective based on their position. It's amazing.
The last point in this episode is super significant because the Miya twins managed to copy Hinata and Kageyama’s minus tempo quick on their first try.
Of course you guys managed to not pay attention during the highlight of the episode, its almost a talent at this point.

paying attention to detail and completely waiting for the end credits is the best way to get a genuine reaction! the end of each episode kind of ends with a tiny cliffhanger, so it’s best to not all start talking right before it ends

I love what Coach Donny says in his reactions about luck. It takes work to be lucky. If Hinata didn't even put himself into those places, he wouldn't even have had a chance to be lucky. You guys chalk it up to luck or maybe even a fluke (😉), but Hinata has definitely put in the work to be lucky.

Okay so for correction. Episode 13 marked the end of the first half of this season. 14 and beyond is the second half that was heavily affected bc of Covid and it got delayed multiple times. The reason they recalled episode 13 was bc it had been a VERY long time between episode 13 and 14. So that’s not a shortcut. Also, it’s no where near as bad as ppl say. A couple scenes were wonky and you’ll see later. But the adaptation of the material was still amazing and the important and impactful moments are still really well done. Budget wasn’t an issue. It was time
A lot of people think that Atsumu should just feint with the number of steps if he realizes the opponent knows his tell, but it's not that simple. The number of steps is part of his routine, and you can't just change that. It would be like Kageyama serving without first spinning the ball in his hands, he'd probably mess up.
A recent trailer released that I believe revealed the rest of the manga will be movies, but I forget the details... Maybe 3 movies I think.

My only complaint about this episode in the anime is that they made this Karasuno drumming squad too silent imo. If you have ever experienced a taiko ensemble in person you would know that thing is FAR from being "gentle" even if they don't hit very hard. You feel the freakin' ground rumbling.

Randomest of shits today, but I was having the hardest time falling asleep bc of those damn mosquito bites, and when I was drifting off to I dreamt that Suraj told me some Indian guys had discovered the new "great diet" and it was kind of vegetarian but not really, and it was based of eating raw tuna and whiskey. And then the neighbors woke me up bc they were having sex and I couldn't have a bite of raw tuna. Anyways Atsumu is worse than Oikawa, which is a lot to say bc I despise Oikawa's guts
