Hey Food Box HQ Family! Today we're unboxing and cooking up EveryPlate to give you our review of this affordable meal kit.
The biggest benefit of EveryPlate is that on their largest plan, each meal is around $5. That's pretty impressive when you compare EveryPlate with other meal kits, like Sunbasket, which can go for $12+ per meal.
EveryPlate has also been evolving since we last reviewed them. Now, you can customize certain meats and sides by giving you the option to add, swap, or upgrade certain ingredients. This is something that I've noticed a lot of meal kits start to offer and I think it's a wonderful addition to EveryPlate. There have been a number of times where I see a meal on their menu but either the side or the main doesn't really interest me. Being able to swap it out for something else or even upgrade it, opens up a whole new world of meal options.
Now, something to be aware of if that EveryPlate is a "budget" meal kit. This means that they pull back on certain things that are normal in other meals kits. The first and most obvious is the packaging-it's very minimal and every ingredient is just thrown into the box. Thankfully, there is a cardboard bin of sorts that makes it easy to pull everything out and place in the fridge.
The next area where EveryPlate pulls back is with the level of ingredients and recipes. These are not going to be 5-star, gourmet recipes. I found that many of them tend to be more homestyle, regular recipes with a bit of extra flare, such as the pork tacos we made.
Is EveryPlate perfect? No, definitely not. But at their price point, I think they are a great value.

The Blue Kitchen Knife We Use In Our Videos (Amazing Quality) 🧑🍳🔪 amzn.to/3KpTyOe
I thought every plate was already put together. Glad I watched this video.
I use 3 fridge bins for all my ingredients. A big bin for all of the produce and two smaller bins, one for the meat and a second for the rest of the loose ingredients. You just grab your recipe card and grab out the ingredients you need just like you normally would. We’ve been using them since last October and we really love them a lot! For the money it’s very much worth a try, I HIGHLY recommend!
One thing I do when I get my box is take everything out of the small box....spread it out and put all the same ingredients together. Then I arrange the recipe cards and grab a couple paper bags I have left over from Trader Joe's. I go off each card and make SURE I have all the ingredients I need, put them in the bag, tape it and throw them in the fridge (my own little Hello Fresh copycat!) It works and then that way you can just grab the bag and you're assured you have everything before actual time to cook. Doing this doesn't take long at all.
So smart! Yeah, I was actually thinking of doing something similar. I also saw this idea in the HelloFresh subreddit to keep things organized but I'm wondering if it take up too much space: www.reddit.com/r/hellofresh/comments/n2o24o/i_was_always_taking_everything_out_of_the_bags_to/
I bought plastic bins from dollar store then put them all together with recipe card in front.
I have ordered from Everyplate at least 15 times and the box was always insulated. But I live in Florida so maybe it varies by state.
Yeah I noticed my last HelloFresh and Dinnerly boxes had very minimal insulation. It's still around 30-40 degrees here in NJ though so makes sense.
This is a very generous review. I received piss poor service from this company and they refused to properly compensate me for spoiled meat they sent me.
Honestly I don’t watch stuff like this, but appreciate the quality of the video it’s very put together, simple to understand, and straight forward
Thank you for the kind words!
Mine was definitely insulated, just got my first box Thursday
Yeah they add the insulation during the warmer seasons.
I hate they’re not put together.. but then again I just got 6 meals for $29😭 sooo I’m not going ti complain
6: 1 person portion meals?
@@EB-bk4kv6: 1 time portion for 6 people
I thought it was $1.49 per meal kit??
For how many ppl?
Great video
Have you tried the "Fish Fixe" box from Houston Texas?
Not yet but thanks for letting me know about it :) will add to our list.
are their a lot of vegetarian options?
Great video! One quick question that pork taco meal you prepared was that for 2 people or 4?
Bump same question
I have the service and each pack of meat has a serving portion for 2 people. She only added 1, so I think it’s safe to assume it’s a portion for 2 people!hope this helps
@@3chodabs195serving size for 2 ppl
How much does it cost per box
Are the meals gmo free?
What is the price
Wait… they don’t use ice packs or anything to keep the items chilled…?
Just got a box today, items for 6 meals, and it had a massive ice pack at the bottom.
Have used EveryPlate for about six months, and am a big fan. Great food/recipes at very reasonable pricing, has always been accurately packed, and sorting through items is NO BIG DEAL, so stop paying twice as much to have each meal individually bagged. BTW, Emily you are still looking great,...got any sisters? :)
What’s the price breakdown per meal? If you had to guess on average
About $6 per person for two people at full pop. However we deactivate service from time to time (NOT pause it), and in a few days they will offer a 25-50% discount on a few boxes if you come back. We've done this many times.
What's the cost per meal
I'm trying it and it will end up being $9.51/person for 2 people 3 meals per week. Doing the first one tonight. It's not that great of a deal, imho, but we will see. hope this helps. Have a Merry Christmas!
@@bigalbbq4597what are your thoughts?
I thought the food would have been already prepared. 😢
Me too! I was about to order it for finals week but I thought the price was too cheap so I came to research a bit more. This is basically just like having groceries delivered.
