That's interesting, I've had a terrible experience with the Hellofresh website, App, delivery and customer service, I have had no trouble since switching to Everyplate, I wonder what the difference is 🤷🏼♀️
What I love about it is trying new things and not having to buy a whole container of spice that I will not ever use up, or fresh herbs that I will waste. I feel terrible when I have to throw out food! I saw another review about Every Plate about her complaining about things not being sorted. I am thinking that is a cut on the cost of man power to create the box! So I'm all for sorting my own if it's cheaper! Thank you for the review! ❤
I was so glad to learn this! I was just contemplating maybe trying Hello Fresh, and now that I know Every Plate is the same stuff for less money, I’m sold!
The breakdown in cost in the end is what I was really looking for so thank you for that! It’s hard for me to even consider these subscriptions because it’s more affordable to go to the store and I can really inspect the produce and meat. Well now that inflation is a problem, gas prices are a problem and I’m having some health issues preventing me from the 30 min drive to my favorite money saving store, I might consider doing one on occasion. Thanks for the breakdown!
seaglass...true. i still have to do the dishes either way so i may as well pick out my own groceries and cook what i like home. we don't know anything about where the food comes from. i am not comfortable with that!!
We did Hellofresh for a year, with 3 meals a week. 1 meal we would try to get something we KNEW we liked, 1 meal would be something we would never ever try on our own, and 1 would be just something that looked good. We now have enough meal cards that we can pick and choose for ourselves and no question, they are cheaper to make on our own. We had, at first, a bit of a taste difference, but I ordered off of Amazon a whole SLEW of the broth extracts, and now it all tastes delicious just like before. I do not regret the year though. We now have a LOT of meal options. I randomly grab a handful and then we "select" our 3 meals. Then I shop, with my list already made, easy peasy! What Hellofresh IS cheaper for, is if you compare it to dining out, which we used to do a LOT when we ran into the "What do you want? I dunno, what do YOU want" and we'd end up at Texas Roadhouse or something.
Same here! I've watched a ton of reviews on these brands by now and one thing that i wish they had mentioned here is prep/cook times! Some of the recipes, while not complicated, they do require 45 minutes of work. Thats a no-go for me, i just don't have thst kind of stamina anymore. But they did a fabulous job of covering pros and cons, and the math at the end was awesome! 💖🙏🕊
@@arleneowusu4498 the EveryPlate service is what I decided to go with and it’s the most affordable. I get three meals per week for four people and it’s $76.87 total with shipping. That’s $6.41 per person which is definitely cheaper than fast food. Where I live, the fast food prices have gotten so high it’s around $50 at least for my family. If I’m getting takeout from a restaurant it’s closer to $100 after tip is added. So you can see how much I’m saving. Our local grocery stores are so expensive too. $100 gets me two small bags of groceries. Due to health issues I could no longer drive to my favorite store with all the savings so this kit was very helpful, especially for nights I didn’t want to cook. My kids could handle it with the provided instructions. I don’t get it every week either. If the meals don’t look appealing or they don’t seem worth the money, I skip that week.
Thank you for this comparison video. I have seen Hello Fresh and wondered about the quality, quantity and pricing. This is as really great that you did the job for me!

I’m a single parent so the convenience of the delivery service creates such low stress evenings while still giving my kids great food. Thanks for all the information.

Thanks for your review and cost comparison. We’ve ordered our first box of Hello Fresh. We weren’t really considering Every Plate, but now I think I need to do so!
Thank-you so much for your intelligent and detailed analysis of Hello Fresh and Every Plate 👍 Hope you make more food service comparisons in the near future.
Awesome review! I’m glad I found this comparison video. It makes a lot of sense to stick with Every Plate most of time but Hello Fresh to mix it up. Thank you!!
I did the math too, i love every plate!!!! And when I found out it was the sister company, I was sold! My ten year old even likes to help me cook! Lovely video!
I love that comedy skit! Is that the one where she said he'd "Out PhD'd himself"? 😂 Thank you for the great comparisons and cost, this was the most thorough review that ive seen! The only thing I'd like to ask (maybe you said and i missed it) is about prep/cooking times. Just for people considering trying them out, from what other reviewers have shown is that some of these meals, while simple, do require a bit of cooking stamina. A lot of them seem to take about 45 minutes of effort, was that true for you guys? That's just too much for my rickety self lol. Much love from Pine Log Mountain, GA 💖🙏🕊
DIana is a great cook. For her it takes no more than 30 to 45 min to prep. Now for me it is a whole diffferent story. I am not cook at all! For the last month or so I have started to learn cooking and these meals have been great at helping me learn. There are, however, times I need to ask for clarification of the instructions. It taked me about 45 min on average to prep, coook and serve the meal. Hope this helps.
Thank you for such an honest and detailed review! I've been considering one of these two meal services now that I'm working in an office 5 days a week again. The unboxing and annual cost breakdown was really helpful to see instead of just focusing on the menu options. I liked how everything was bagged together with Hello Fresh but also see the benefits of saving money by grouping ingredients together with Every Plate. Also, you two are so adorable!
I ordered from Freshly, cause it is already cooked, and I just heat and eat. I needed meals to take to work, cause when I cook during the day, my boys eat it all. Not to mention I'm stuck cleaning too. The meal price isn't that bad, $10 per meal if you buy 12 at the time. But every plate seems like a good alternative when I want to cook, may even be cheaper than the grocery store. Thanks for your review.
I kind of chuckle when I hear people who spend anywhere from $10 to $20 for lunch out everyday while working, not wanting to spend money on this type of service. Not to mention if you go out for one night's dinner for two people, you could easily spend more than what it costs for 2 people to eat 3 dinners on this service.
Thank you for this breakdown! I am thinking of maybe doing both services and alternating depending on what's on the menu each week since you can skip weeks on both. I find hello fresh has more calorie-friendly meals I'd rather eat but dang everyplate is so much cheaper!
@Diana and Stefan Empty Nesters I enjoyed your video, and was very surprised to hear you mention Jeanne Robertson, as not many know who that wonderful lady was. I'm not sure if you've heard, and if not, I'm sorry to be the bringer of bad news...but we lost that beautiful soul this past August...and Left Brain (Jerry) as well, just two months prior in June. I remember well the video you spoke of where Jeanne sent Left Brain to the store, as it is one of my favorites of Jeanne's videos. I was so thrilled to hear you mention her & Jerry in this video. I just thought you might want to know that they are both no longer with us, yet her legacy and humor will live on through the laughter she brought us by finding the 'funny' in every situation. Xo
Oh no! We're so sad to hear of the passing of Jeanne and Jerry. We have watched that grocery store video so many times due to sharing it with friends and family. Jeanne's stories resonated with me so much because I am definitely also married to a left brain. I love Stefan for sure, but geez Louise grocery shopping with him in tow is a challenge and doubles the time in the store! And that's why we enjoy our food delivery service so much! ;)
I so understand the "what's for dinner". My daughter now helps with the cooking and so dose my husband. One time my husband asked what's for dinner and I just say " I dont know, what are you going to cook." He was surprised by the response 😀 Really it was that response that go my husband to help out with cooking a few times a month. If I knew thats all it took to get him to think about dinner and the anxiety it caused me and to actually cook a few meals a month. I would have said it years ago. It's one of those things that all you got to do is ask. I wished I thought about it earlier in our marriage.
I agree! The great thing about these types of services is the great and colorful recipe cards so almost anyone can help out with getting dinner on the table.
Thanks for this detailed review! I just subscribed to Every Plate today & Canceled Hello Fresh. I'm trying & shopping different meal kits to see which works better for my family
We're empty nesters too. We had 7 kids and it was difficult to learn to cook smaller portions for two! I also hate those dreaded words "What's for dinner tonight, babe?" I hate that to no end....considering my husband is an excellent cook! But sense the kids all left he doesn't cook any more! However, I love to cook, but I don't always want to choose the meals! Just tell me what to cook and I'll cook, no problem! So these meal kits are awesome for that problem! Dinner served!
Glad you enjoyed the video. We mostly order from Every Plate now due to the price difference. We still order Hello Fresh though when the selections aren't what we want from Every Plate. Either way, it makes dinner time so easy!
Thank you great video…I get Every Plate tried Hello Fresh one month to expensive for my budget…Im single and get 6 meals every two weeks…I just buy fresh salmon and shrimp from ALDI when I want it..
We've been happy with EveryPlate and have been using them for months. You'll have to decide if it is worth it for you and your family. We are buying for two people, three times per week. This is keeping us eating at home more often with well balanced meals, is super convenient and we're not wasting food. So all of those things make it worth it for us. As long as you are preparing the meals within the week, the ingredients have been no different than if I had gone to the store to purchase them. One tip we've learned from our UPS driver. We now choose Thursday delivery over Monday delivery. This way our box is coming straight from EveryPlate and not sitting in a warehouse over the weekend. Now when we receive our box, the ice packs are almost fully frozen instead of partially frozen. So it seems our driver is correct. The shipping time is shorter and getting into our fridge/crisper faster.
Thank you so much for your husbands price breakdown...please ask him to start a youtube channel to help us all out on allll product cost comparisons for all companies nationwide covering all angles maybe even travel prices ex: flights, technology, food, clothing stores
Yes! As a newlywed. We both work full time jobs and have been wanting to do a meal service but we have been divided or unsure. This comparison and actually seeing the packaging has helped me a lot ! Loved the comments about grocery and the comedy in you guys 😂 and your husband's breakdown was the selling point for me. We love to travel so I agree ! More for the travel ! Thank you again
Congratulations on getting married and thanks for the compliments! The food delivery websites can be a little difficult to navigate to determine the actual cost before you buy, so we're happy to know the video helped you out. Knowing what's for dinner really does make the end of the day less stressful. Stay tuned for a few travel videos with cost comparisons :)
Same thing in my house, married 26 years, almost raised 3 kids and unless it involves the grill, I'm on dinner duty and I do like most of these food boxes. Only one I didn't like was Sunbasket. Meals were too out there and the 2 I chose didn't taste good to me/us
Every plate is cheaper, but hello fresh has more options... Ugh.. ⚖️ lol. I'm shopping for just me and I am only home for 3 days out of the week... Which would be better for me?
We mostly use EveryPlate, but do order from Hello Fresh when we want more variety. One way you could maybe save a little money is by ordering 6 days in one shipment and only ordering every other week which would save you some shipping. You'd need to be strategic in your order and be sure to eat the meals that might be more perishable first. Just a thought.
We just moved into a new home and a lot of our kitchen is still in storage so I ordered from every plate knowing it was going to be the cheaper option. There were a few things that annoyed me. One was not every meal that's a premium meal was labeled premium and I didn't figure out there was an upcharge until I got to the receipt. I know being deceptive is common practice for every company so I guess not too big of a deal. Another thing was they considered tilapia a premium meal wt heck lol. Think they're targeting people who've never been to the grocery store or have been eating mac and cheese their whole life. If I didn't choose my meals I would have received 2 nights of soup one night cold salad and 2 nights broccoli and potatoes with similar protein. Think they pick for you like they throw together your bag with no thought. I told them protein was important beforehand too. Thankfully was doing this for convenience until we get our home put together
The meals are very comparable. You must compare the same protein, ie: chicken to chicken. Lobster would be a upcharge on either plan. The main difference between the planss there are more spices for the Helo Fresh. Aside from that thee quantity and quality are very comparable.
My every plate I use 3 baggies..write name of meal add ingredients for each meal.Refrigerate..meat in freezer with date..just as you said not as many choices..
You will need to supply some basic ingredients, salt, pepper cooking oil. just basic items. They are not sold as extras. Before you order the meal you can look at the recipe and it will tell you what you need.
I just canceled my Hellofresh subscription. They charge so much for so much being wrong with the boxes and items. The cutlets are slimy and small. The veggies aren't fresh especially the carrots. And they use potatoes as a cheap filler. That sucks because they are so expensive.
So sorry you have had a bad experience. We have not had an issue with slimy cutlets at all. Our veggies have always been fresh with the exception of one zucchini. As a matter of fact we had received extra carrots in an order a few weeks ago and those carrots are still good in our refrigerator's crisper. We do primarily use EveryPlate, which is a sister company to Hello Fresh, because EveryPlate costs less money for very similar meals. Let us know if you find a better alternative. We're always open to suggestions.
There are no hard plastic containers in this meal kit, All the vegetables arrive fresh not packaged. The liquid ingredients come in packages as you would find in a fast food restaurant.
Hello fresh is a thief I canceled in January online and over the phone last week it resumed without authorization since the card on the account was expired they got the updated card from my bank contact the better business bureau if they pull that stunt on you
I am sorry to hear about your troubles and we have not had any troubles with the billing. I come from a banking background and have never heard of such a thing as the bank giving out personal information. I would personally dispute the charge through the credit card and file a complaint with your bank for giving out your personal information.
All husbands ask what’s for dinner and yes it’s my job to shop and make dinner. I don’t mind. My hubby works hard, he supports us. But even so, I don’t want him messing up my kitchen and breaking stuff. Plus I wouldn’t eat anything he cooks
Great video but there is something abt this video that males me feel that it was made in 2010.. may be video quality , lighting, color grading , cabinet colors ...
Is… that a bad thing…? I mean, I thought it was a great video. I came to see the difference between the two meal kits. Not to pick apart someone else’s decor or video style 😆 They did a great job too!

I had 21 options for this coming week for my EP box.
Many great choices.
Same thing in my house, married 26 years, almost raised 3 kids and unless it involves the grill, I'm on dinner duty and I do like most of these food boxes. Only one I didn't like was Sunbasket. Meals were too out there and the 2 I chose didn't taste good to me/us
That is our house exactly.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 My husband couldn’t even pick up phone order pizzza!!!
We don't even have delivery where we live.
But how do the meals compare? Is the weight/quantity comparable? Are the ingredients for each the same price point? (Say chicken vs. lobster)
The meals are very comparable. You must compare the same protein, ie: chicken to chicken. Lobster would be a upcharge on either plan. The main difference between the planss there are more spices for the Helo Fresh. Aside from that thee quantity and quality are very comparable.
What’s for dinner?
Cajun Chicken Sausage Linguine. YUM!
My every plate I use 3 baggies..write name of meal add ingredients for each meal.Refrigerate..meat in freezer with date..just as you said not as many choices..
That's a great idea!
These days Maybe they should ship in plain boxes! Folks be taking food off porch !😅😅
That is an excellent idea. You should suggest it.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
DOES IT COME WITH SALT OR DO YOU HAVE TO PAY EXTRA ?
Gas is 4 dollars a gallion don't forget . Have you been to food stores recently ?? Food prices are going through the roof
It also stops us from making impulse purchases saving us even more $$$.
Is all that plastic pkging bpa free?
There are no hard plastic containers in this meal kit, All the vegetables arrive fresh not packaged. The liquid ingredients come in packages as you would find in a fast food restaurant.
You should ask your husband to do an everyplate vs grocery comparison for the price
Actually You can’t buy McDonalds for 10 bucks a person ! Thank you
Isn't that the truth. And these meals are sooooo much better than McDonalds.
I got both thanks I will my do ever plate not Hello fresh every week thanks
All husbands ask what’s for dinner and yes it’s my job to shop and make dinner. I don’t mind. My hubby works hard, he supports us. But even so, I don’t want him messing up my kitchen and breaking stuff. Plus I wouldn’t eat anything he cooks
So true!
Seems like glorified frozen dinners
This is nothing like a frozen meal. You are supplied the ingredients along with the instructions on how to prepare the meal. Everything is fresh.
Hello fresh has way more options stick with your budget HelloFresh lol
Great video but there is something abt this video that males me feel that it was made in 2010.. may be video quality , lighting, color grading , cabinet colors ...
Noted
Is… that a bad thing…? I mean, I thought it was a great video. I came to see the difference between the two meal kits. Not to pick apart someone else’s decor or video style 😆 They did a great job too!
Thank You for the kind words.
