I was a brake specialist for Chevrolet I did other things to differentials some transmission work but brakes was my specialty 30 years experience with General Motors you're the man you're doing a good job there very good I'm retired and I don't miss it at all.
I had to install pads on the rear of my Suburban. I chose the first youtube video that came up, it wasn't yours. When I was done, noticed some clips left over. I also believe they told me to put the wear indicator on the outside, which I did. I knew something was not quite right, your video was the second one, I wish I had seen yours first. I had to take the assembly off and do the job over again. I suppose the clips aren't all that important, if I hadn't changed them, probably wouldn't matter but GM includes them in for some reason.
Nice video, thank you - Jim
Man, I hate you had to do the job twice but practice make perfect. I glad my video got you straight. Thanks for watching.
Great video. You are well spoken, thoughtful and a great command of the English language. Well done sir!
Thanks you very much!
Great video bud... Now some constructive criticism. When you layed the new pad with grease down on the driveway, instead of installing it. The grease picked up debris. You got grease on the new pad, right in the center. These things won't ruin your job by any means. But strive to think ahead and shoot for perfection. Nice video. Thanx
Thanks, also that is a good opportunity to look at the speed sensor plug above axle. I watch master fluid level at a couple of times while turning c clamp.
Ty!!! I am about to do mine, I just wanted to see how it was done first.
Thank u for being straight to the point and not skipping any parts. 10mins is long(lol), but very helpful.😉
I hoped it helped. Once you learn that skill you will never have to pay someone ever again to do your brakes. Good luck.
Great overview Michael. No extra fluff. I wanted something quick to make sure I remembered how to do it. You put the pad with the wear bar on the inside. When I disassembled mine, that one was on the outside. When I got my new pads I thought the way mine were was wrong, but I went with the way they were. They did not seem to go back quite right. The calliper was tight. So, back inside for more research. Luckily I did not mount the wheel. Disassembled and "fixed". Things seemed to fit much better. Finished up the right side. Now to see how the left side looks !! ...Later... the left side was actually down to the metal on the corner of the pad. The wear indicator was half broken off. There was a little bit of scoring on the rotor but only on the very edge. BTW. With the pads reverse the wear indicator was actually only visible from the top not be possible to see it from a bottom inspection of the vehicle.
John Anthony I glad my video helped you. As far as the wear indicator goes. I was always taught wear indicators go on the inside but if you put it on the outside it not the end of the world. It’s the same as the outside pad. It just has the indicator on it. But the right way is wear indicator goes in side. And make sure you grease the slide pins. I noticed you said one brake shoe was down to the metal on the corner of the pad. The slide pins are the pins that hold the Caliper to the car. If one is dry the caliper might close uneven. Making your pads wear uneven. Thanks again for the sub.
Thank you Sir. Well done and super helpful.
Thanks for the video. You did a very good job describing every step. It was my first time changing brake pads and it went a lot easier than I thought it would.
I glad you got her done. Now you know how to do. So pass that skill on to someone else. For they will know!
Thank you very much for posting this video...

Thank you for the video.
Thanks great video bless up
Thanks
Thanks for video
This was a easy step video brother thanks for it
I'm glad the video helped. Everyone needs to know how to do their own brakes. That is just how I was raised. I will not know until someone teaches you.
Thanks holmes...
great tutorial thank you
Thank you so much. Real informative video brother. Helped me out a lot.
Everyone needs to know how to change their own brakes. I hope it helped.
Good job man that was so helpfull 🍻
jose garcia Thanks I glad I could help.
Thanks for sharing with me. What looked like a b***ch job, you made easy. Guess brackets come off easy enough to have discs turned.
Most rotors are cheap enough just to buy new ones. Most people do not turn rotors anymore. The bracket will come off with a few love taps. Good luck.
Got it done yesterday. Good information. Went and got new rotors also.
@@fastvega Good job 👍🏽
Nice vid. Is it better to use the large C clamp to push piston back in instead of the screwdriver?
Yes. And it is usually easier. The C clamp also applies more even pressure.
Hey' looks like you got your brake grease, on' the back' brake pad .... 😬
Aren’t you supposed to open up the break fluid reservoir under the hood when pushing the piston back
T V You can if you like but it not going to anything if you don’t. If your reservoir is full. You might want to remove some fluid before pushing back your piston.
Can it be bad if you have the rear pads switched (in out pads)???
No, you should be ok. They should be the same pads. Same shape, same size.
And to think you spend hundreds for a mechanic to do a easy 10min job
EZ Entertainment That’s why you should try it your self first. You might save so money.
@@michaelyoucanfixthat most definitely after watching this
I got a 2007 Chevy suburban 2 wheel drive do they have accommodation of disc and rotor brakes in the rear
Just get the best ceramic brakes your money can buy. I always use ceramic brakes and tow a lot of stuff. If does not produced a lot of brake dust. Like the cheaper less expensive brakes do. I get the ones in the $50 to $60 range. They might cost much more now because of the pandemic. Good luck
Didnt even change the rotor? Hmm
I don't know what part of the country you are from but here in the south/GA. We don't change rotors every time you change brakes. If the rotor has a good surface and has not gave the driver any problem. it could stay on the car for life. This is not a Mercedes that need new rotors every time you change brakes.
