I have viewed several videos about installing Front Pads and Rotors on GM trucks 08-14. This is by far the best one , most informative and have all the torque for the bolts. I will search the 1A Auto Parts videos for my other DYI projects for my 2013 Tahoe. Great job guys
Great job. Followed and had no problems. The caliper mounting bolts seem near impossible to move. I only had luck with an improvised breaker bar (3 ft piece of pipe and ratchet). I rounded out the stupid little torque screw and was told by a mechanic to just drill it out and not worry about replacing it because it because its only used was to hold the rotor in place when on the assembly line, the lug nuts should do just fine.
Wow. Very informative. Something that is interesting and quite surprising for me is the ease on “bleeding the breaks” part where u just pump the breaks. I guess that’s the great thing about these newer generation vehicles. I’m more confident now after this on changing mine. My 94 pick up was a nightmare
1 thing to keep in mind , at least for newer vehicles , sliding out the brake pads themselves is not easy as portayed in this video. The little bracket that holds the pads has a little tab that keeps the brake pads from sliding out. You can punch them out the opposite direction to remove them.
The official GM instructions say that the brake pads have adhesive on the back, but the original ones I took out didn't seem to have any adhesive residue on them and the new ACDelco ones didn't have any adhesive paper to peel off. In this video the guy also just put them in and that's it.

For reference, if you have a stuck rotor T30 screw. I use pb buster on front and back of screw, let it sit, hit the t30 screw with a hammer and punch on each side and use a 1/2” electric impact driver with a impact driver t30 bit. I recommend use a impact driver bit because a regular t30 bit did not survive. Took 2 mins max. For reference, I originally tried my 1/4” cordless impact driver but the T30 screw did not budge. So definitely use a 1/2 air or electric impact driver.
+Eddie Abd Yes it is absolutely necessary to use thread locker when reinstalling the bolts. There is a lot of force put on your brakes, and if you do not use thread locker the bolts could back out over time, which could lead to disastrous results. 1aauto.com
1A Auto Parts when I UA-cam for car repairs I always go to 1A Auto. So far for my 2009 Tahoe: sway bar end links, sway bar bushings and speaker replacement. Need a video for A pillar, center dash and D Pillar speaker replacement.

Followed this perfectly, thanks for a great video

Do i really need torque wrench to tighten the rotor bolts or can i just use my socket driver?
Did you miss opening brake fluid reservoir draining a little brake fluid out for overflow?
Excellent job!

Great instruction, thank you!!!
I stripped the Star Bolt that holds the rotor on. What do I do now?

Thanks for watching our video! +lwe3625
I have the same problem with this Bolt. I've almost stripped it out. Snapped 3 bits.
Is this the same for 07 tahoe? Mine looks like the one in the video
Caliper bracket bolts 148 ft lbs? In the hub video it was 100.
+V Thanks for the feedback!
@@1AAuto I'll just find it myself.
+V Put the bracket back into place
Tighten the 18mm bolts
Torque the bolts to 48 foot-pounds
@@1AAuto 48 seems low
thank you
Badass Video
Are the caliper bolts needed to be replaced?
Why did you spray the brake pad
Thanks for the video. Do you think it's necessary to put thread lock on the bracket bolt ? If so why ?

I never had a bracket bolt thread out. I just use the old thread lock already on the bolt.
@@1AAuto i changed my brakes just like you did and when i went to pump them up im getting nothing
Nice
Thank you. That is a ton of rust!!!

The pads y’all took off had so much left. No need to change
What a hack. You hit a wrench with a hammer instead of using the right size tools
