Hello Simona, I have to be honest and say that was the most beautiful video I've seen in a long time ☺ Thank you very much for the great impressions. And huge respect for your performance. Greetings from Germany, Joachim
Omg Floor, I watched all your videos before my trip, you inspired me to hike Kungsleden! :) And yeah, I guess I was lucky in terms of weather, although I had a few below zero nights
Wow, this is very atmospheric! My dream-plan for several years now. It seems to me that in September it is more difficult with the weather, but there are so few people and other sensations!
It's Vadym, we met on this trail. I lost contact with you after Nikkaluokta. Asked about you in Kaitumjaure and was told that you have left about one hour before my arrival. Nice movie! Sweden (especially in autumn ) is hard to forget!
@@simonaintothehike I spent whole day in NIkkaluokta, next day got to Teusajaure, walked for 3 or 4 hours and put my tent. Next day walked past Kaitumjaure (and bought some soup cans ) and stayed near Singi .
Lovely solo hike! Very beautifully captured! I guess there were no mosquitos harassing you anymore at this time of the hiking season! A big THANK, to you, for sharing your excellent hiking adventure! God bless you always! 💯👍👍👍
@@simonaintothehike Yes I hiked to Abisko. The south is just as Beautiful as the North. There is no huts so you need a Tent and therefor not so many hikers.
I think we have finished the same day (the 20/09/21) and I have crossed you after Abiskojaure (I wore a blue jacket). Amazing weather and what a cold last night! Many thanks for this beautiful video, I just have my pictures and my memories but I feel to be on the trail again, day after day :)
Hey Raphaël! Oh yeah, that last night was not great in terms of sleep, at least for me haha. Where did you start the hike? I do recall a blue jacket on the last day (easy to remember when you meet 5 people per day 😅), so probably I saw you as well!
I started the trail in Hemavan the 1st of September 2021, so I did it in 20 beautiful days (just 1 day of rain and 1 day of fog). Mountains, lakes, forests… September lights and colors are amazing!
Amazing:) We were hiking Kungsleden 3 weeks before you, so we had warmer weather, but the beauty of the experience was the same as from your beautiful video :) When I have seen it, I feel, I need to go back there some time again :)
I was there on the 10th-20th of September, picked my time based on the hut closing time (which that year was 19th of September). You're in for some amazing autumn colours 😍
Thank you for the very beautiful video, Simona 🙂 It brought many good memories into my mind, as I have done a very long time ago both a summertime hike from Kvikkjokk, and then later a winter skiing tour from Abisko.
Saturday, October 29, 2022 What a delightful adventure! 😀 Your video is so charming, and you are so sweet, Simona. 😀 It was so nice to travel along with you. 🌳 I am in Bloomington, Indiana. Now it is autumn 🍁 🍂 and the trees are so colorful.
My last hike was in november 2016. I really miss having those long walks. Without crazy and dangerous climbs, no dogs, no bears. Just the joy of immersing in the beautiful landscape.
Hej Simona, great video! We're planning to do the same hike this September. Can I ask, how did you travel to Kvikkjokk and where from? There do not seem to be much in the way of good public transport options?
Hey Jordan! I traveled to Kvikkjokk all the way from the Netherlands by trains (I had some time 😄). And yeah, I agree that there are not many options. Even getting there from Stockholm is an adventure already. I took a night train from Stockholm to Boden, from there switched to a train to Murjek, from there a bus to Jokkmokk and then one more bus to Kvikkjokk. Not sure if there are any other public transport options, it is a remote area. Totally worth it though 😍
Thank you for this video. I'd love to do it. I walk a lot in the Scottish Highlands, on long-distance walks, and so much of the scenery is very similar. I'll see if I can source a guide-book for the trail, and who knows!
Scottish Highlands are on my to-hike list 😉 I also found staying at the huts quite a unique Swedish experience. They’re so cozy and basic 😍 in case you’re looking for a guidebook, I used the Cicerone guide for Kungsleden. It wasn’t ideal (since I walked the opposite direction), but might help you preparing quite well. I also shared a few tips and my itinerary on my blog. Hopefully you’ll get to visit this beautiful place too!
@@simonaintothehike Thank you for your reply. I ordered the Cicerone copy from my local bookshop yesterday and it arrived today. :-) We have "bothies" here, which provide shelter from wind and rain, occasionally there is a fireplace, if you can provide fuel. They are very basic, but free and open to everyone. There are lots of recognised walking routes to follow, but also it is fairly easy to devise your own if you choose. The longest recognised route is the Cape Wrath trail from Fort William, up to the far North-West corner of Scotland. About 400 Km. Cicerone have a guide book. Good luck, and happy walking!
I was rather lucky with the weather since it didn’t rain that much (for Scandinavian standards). I always carry a ziplock bag for my camera and when it starts raining, I put it there (my camera is sadly not waterproof). If it’s pouring rain, I just put the camera inside the backpack, where all my stuff is safe and dry in a pack sack 😉
Such an enjoyable video! My dream is to hike the whole Kungsleden 🙂 What was the water situation on the train? Did you filter your water or brought store bought bottles? Thanks!
Thank you 😍 I recall that each passenger got a water bottle (here I mean the night train) and I filled my own bottle with tap water before the trip, which was enough for me.
Hi Simona, very nice video, Enjoyed it! Visited your blog as well. I'm looking to do the same trip next september. How many days, flights and transport included, would you take to be on the safe side? (We would fly from Brussels to Narvik, Evenes). Groetjes vanuit België ;)
Thanks, Christof, for the kind words 😍 ouuuf, that is a tough question... On the trail itself I would maybe add one extra day, in case the weather turns bad and you cannot cross a lake. During my trip I kind of got lucky but there was at least one close call 😅 for the flights and transport it's a bit hard to say. I traveled from Stockholm, and I think it took me 24 hours to get to Kvikkjokk. I have no idea how long it would take to get there from Narvik, but it wouldn't surprise me if you needed 2 days (one way) as Kvikkjokk is very remote. Totally worth it, though! Veel succes! 😉
Thanks 🤩 I took two power banks since my "regular one" can charge ~ 4 times the phone and maybe a camera once. In the end I didn't need a second bank, because I could charge everything halfway through in Saltoluokta Fjällstation (the only place with electricity during my trip), including the power bank. Besides, I didn't have phone signal most of the time, so under airplane mode my phone lasted 2-3 days, which was awesome! Btw, I filmed everything with my phone and only took pictures with my camera.
