Manohari Singh had visited the office of M/s Hindustan Recording Company sometime in 1945-1946 for work, and found two photographs hanging there, one of K. L. Saigal and the other of a gentleman wearing a turban (saafa), and looking regal. He asked them as to who was the turbaned gentleman in the photograph, and was told that it was Kumar Sachin Deb Burman. Being from the Royal family of Tripura, he was wearing a turban.
On Meera Devi Burman:
Manohari Singh’s daughter Mithu had this to say about Meera Devi Burman:
‘We (she and some of her siblings, in all there were five sisters and two brothers), studied in boarding schools and stayed in hostels. Whenever we came to visit our parents in Bombay for our holidays, Mrs Burman would insist that we go over to her large house and enjoy ourselves. She would regularly send over her car with driver to fetch us so that we had no excuse whatsoever. We would all go over to spend the day’.
Mrs Manohari Singh, who used to accompany the kids, agreed with this statement.
SDB's height:
On being asked, Manohari Singh said that Dada was very tall, and, his height would be about 6 feet.

Manohari ji is very talented.
In terms of youthful ness and longevity SDB will ever remain my favourite,even beyond great Naushad.
With due respect, Naushad dried up by his age of 50. Almost everyone from the senior MDs of that era, except SD Burman who remained in demand till his last day. Producers/Directors used wait up to months to try and meet him just to get him say. Read below:

"Naushad has basically a rather limited knowledge of the classical music but despite that he has constructed a vast and magnificent palace of music. Of Salil Chowdhury I am very fond. It is said of Milton that he is a `poet's poet'; it can be said of Chowdhury that he is a `composer's composer. But, the greatest of them is S.D. Burman who is capable of drawing equally from the folk as well as the classical music."

In our 'Pakistan' days, he was the most respected composer embellishing cine music with outstanding scores as could be heard in films like Koel, Gunghat, Chingari, Jhoomer and many others. His songs had depths of unbelievable proportion. While composing he used sarangi and surmandal which are considered 'perfect' instruments to convey tunes. A very rigid composer and a perfectionist, Sajjad Hussain also thought Dada Burman was the best.”

"He was one of the music greats of our country, his thinking and creativity was unique. The range of music he gave from Bandini to Pyaasa to Guide, he was amazing at everything. His melodies had a different appeal. One of the best things about him was that he brought folk music in film tunes," Khansaab said at the launch.
He said that Mr Burman's greatness stood unmatched and even his Musician son RD Burman could not come to surpass him.
"A few days ago, people tried to make me say that RD Burman surpassed his father in music talent, but I could not say that because SD Burman was unmatchable and stood apart among the artistes that come before and even after him," he said.

@ suresh khandare, (1) Madan Mohan ne do pictures mein Dada ko assist kiya hai, Do Bhai (1947) aur Munimji (1955). Unke bare mein hamaari Facebook group mein kal likha tha, woh padh leejiye. (2) Unka beta Sanjeev Kohli 'Yashraj Films' mein executive hai. Humlog unko unko unki office mein mile thay, aur interview liya tha, jo UA-cam mein hai, bahut badhiya bole hain Dada ke baare mein. (3) Shikari film (1946) mein G.S. Napali ne kaam kiya hai, aur Madan Mohan Kohli ki family se koi sambandh nahin hai. Comments ke liye aap ka shukriya.

Lucila expired about 20 years back. She used to work with arranger Sebastian and Uttam Singh, under whom she has played for OP and SJ, only sometime for RD, for whom piano player was mostly Mike Pichado. This information I have gathered from Rhythm Arranger U. K. Dubey who himself is leading a retired life.
