बर्मन दा को मैंने ज्यादा तो नहीं सुना है लेकिन बंदिनी और मां ओ मेरी मां गाना सुनने के बाद आत्मीय संगीत सुनने को मिला तुम वाद्य यंत्रों के साथ इस तरीके के संगीत का निर्माण ही उनकी प्रतिभा को प्रदर्शित करता है और इन गानों के लेखकों ने जिस तरीके से शब्दों को डाला है उसकी जो भी तारीफ की जाए वह कम है इस तरीके के संगीत को सुनने से मन को सुकून मिलता है
मुझे नहीं पता था कि एसडी बर्मन साहब इतनी खूबसूरती के साथ गाते भी थे। मुझे तो ये पता था कि ये एक ज़बरदस्त संगीतकार थे। नमन है।

I must mention an incident when we were returning from Shantiniketan to Howrah by train. Two young children a boy and a girl who were hardly 7 or 8 sang such song so well, our neighbouring passenger ask them to sit down and sing. He promised he would pay them all they could earn that day. Earlier another singer who had gone by begging for alms returned. Our neighbor said, I will pay you too, but don't sing. Listen to these children, you sing to fill your belly, they sing for the Lord. This my friends, is singing for that higher power. It comes from the heart. That was S.D.Burman.
