What pronunciation, wow, beautiful. The daughter couldn’t come close. To fully enjoy this, one needs to understand Urdu fully. I don’t think this performance could ever be matched. Hafeez Jalandhri wrote a masterpiece, and Malika Pukhraj polished it to such perpetual brilliance with perfect Urdu pronunciation.

I have a cassette of this song. My lovely Pakistani friends 36 years ago when I used to live in Saudi Arabia. Also I had returned from vacation after seeing ek duje keliye by paying 110 rs in black. I also carried a VHS tape of the movie. 5_ 6 Pakistani friends came home and we watched the movie. They enjoyed and told me politely that they saw the movie already, about 5 days earlier but enjoyed it again. I heard this song today again and recalled my memory.🙂

One duffer has mentioned that this is a pak gazal. He must know that the first recording of this gazal in the voice was recorded in 40th decade when she was quite young. Later on, she presented on Doordarshan. It is not known when she moved to Pakistan. In Pak this gazal was sung by her daughter.
Malika Pukhraj has no comparison, one of her own kind. The rendition of this nazm sung by Malika g with her daughter Tahira Sayyed is superb as well. Excellent poetry of Hafeez Jalendhri G...

In 1988 she came to India . On 23 Sept she visited our house with her daughter in law and had lunch. A great honour for our family!!

She dedicated her memoirs to two people: her husband and Maharaja Hari Singh.

I have a cassette of this song. My lovely Pakistani friends 36 years ago when I used to live in Saudi Arabia. Also I had returned from vacation after seeing ek duje keliye by paying 110 rs in black. I also carried a VHS tape of the movie. 5_ 6 Pakistani friends came home and we watched the movie. They enjoyed and told me politely that they saw the movie already, about 5 days earlier but enjoyed it again. I heard this song today again and recalled my memory.🙂

Hafeez Jalandhari rode once in a train. The person sitting in front did not recognize him as the writer of national anthem of Pakistan. Hafeez felt awkward he is not known. He finally introduced himself I am Hafeez Jalandhari. The person still did not recognize him but got up and hugged him saying ap bhi Jalandhar say hain?

One duffer has mentioned that this is a pak gazal. He must know that the first recording of this gazal in the voice was recorded in 40th decade when she was quite young. Later on, she presented on Doordarshan. It is not known when she moved to Pakistan. In Pak this gazal was sung by her daughter.
She moved to Lahore before Partition.
