Ah Project Reality, the game that defined my tastes. I literally can not play any of the new games besides Squad because of the standards set by PR. One of my favorite memories, spending 30 minutes flanking a heavy enemy FOB on Silent Eagle, calling in CAS and then getting bombed by our CAS. Or that time on Gaza playing as Hamas, an IDF peaked a corner, 20 AKs went off and a very legitimate "Allahu Akbar" scream. Damn it, I gotta hop in now. For everyone who wants to try it, do it with a fresh mindset, do not compare it with other games and actually say you are new. Put that mic to good use and ask for help, but first of all, do give the manual a skim, no really, you'll be pointless otherwise. You don't need to remember everything but you at least need to know what you can and can't do, and of course, how to get a kit.
Also can relate. There was this one time I was a marksman in my squad, providing long range cover for my squad while they were trying to flank an enemy controlled building by sneaking through the backside of a hill. Last thing I knew was the enemy jet noise and laser designated bomb landing on my squad's position, leaving me as the lone survivor lmao.
