These hardcore ultra rare achievements are impressive in and of themselves, but completing them on an old hardware in 30 fps with gamepad is just next level, I applaud you.
Fun fact, if your gun does not have a laser, your bullets land where you point your crosshair. You can exploit this and kind of shoot behind the corner. This is not possible with lasers. They literally makes the game harder 😂

It is surprisingly overly detailed for a game that constantly gets crapped on the graphics and physics are some of the best in 3rd person shooting games to ever exist the best way I found to play this game is fail a bunch so you can figure out what your bullets and explosives can interact with I have play 3 like this since I first got it I still find random things that I didn't know about

If you press SELECT on Playstation/BACK on Xbox, you can toggle lasers or flashlights, and, if your gun has a red dot sight, it toggles between first person sighting and normal third person.
The second run wasnt ended due to a bug lol. The guy didnt die when you shot him. He stumbled, thats why no time was added. What a legend for completing this!

You might have too little RAM or some weak CPU, I mean I never had 99% of the bugs you had and I played this game countless times (my total playtime is 150 hours). 26:40 You can turn off the laser in every weapon same with flashlights, I think it was SELECT on consoles and B or H on PC (the other one was switching shoulder) and you can crouch ingame and even rolling in every direction which helps on open fields with a lot of gunmen. EDIT: oh sh!t sry didn't realise you were playing on console, that explains everything.

Fun Fact: The beginning of Chapter 5 can be completed almost entirely in stealth. You can shoot the wheel chock on the truck to take out the first 2 guys in 1 shot too. I remember almost choking in the final airplane battle by missing too many shots. Walked away to calm down and cried when the win screen came up. I'm also pretty sure one of the Dpad buttons toggles the laser sight on weapons.
@@fadeskywards1245 I looked up full gameplay and I'm surprised I couldn't find anything. With the dozens of times I had to play through that part of the game for NYMHC, I got pretty good at it. If you are fast enough (granted, you have to be a slow-mo perfect shot), you can avoid most of the enemies spawning after each cutscene. Once you get to the old boat overlooking the garage full of goons, it's required loud from there.
I loved getting this, it was super fun and challenging. Although I was playing on PC with Skip Cutscenes mod. It made the run 50% shorter and more bearable. I can't imagine doing this without this mod.
Yeah… for some reason the console port (at least on Xbox) is really buggy as I encountered the same loading bug at the Branco offices multiple times on my runs . Luckily when I tried it on PC everything worked fine and I got the achievement tonight actually.

In the start of the chapter in the docks and the river, you have to kill those 2 guys in the car without them firing their weapons, If they do fire, It will appear those other 3 guys, theres no bug there And in the end of that chapter in the office, there are only 3 guys in that Room, you probably didnt kill that last Guy with a headshot, since they have bulletproof vests, i dont think It was a bug In the chapter that you died because you didnt have ammo, exactly on that Room you died, It has a ammo suitcase to fill your Guns with rounds... In the same chapter a bit before that you have one of those hand SMGs without that annoying laser targeting that you can pick, then you pass through the other ones to fill its ammo clips... But all the rifles and the other SMGs have the laser targeting
I did this about 9 months ago and it was more frustrating dealing with the bugs and crashes. I learned that because of the PCs higher frame rate, you can go too fast and soft lock by actually shooting enemies sooner than intended, meaning you can't actually go as fast as you can. I also learned that you can easily trivialize the armored enemy's by making them shoot eachother with shotguns... but only rarely as you have to run in front of them of course

I was halfway through In A New York Minute and I lost all of my saved progress. It apparently got damaged and that Includes all my previously collected Grinds and Golden Guns. So I'm now having to complete the game again to get back all my previously lost progress. I've lost count of how many times I've completed the story. In my opinion it's the best Max Payne game. RIP James McCaffrey.

I came here to watch the struggle since every person that played this either didn't do New York Minute Hardcore or had a terrible time with it, I personally didn't find it that difficult. But you're playing on a controller with no aim assist, that explains it haha. Full respect for doing it on controller with no aim assist, I would never do that myself. A few observations I have though: On chapter 6 Part 2 with those 3 guys you have to kill and then an extra guy appearing? I have never seen that before I always get just those 3 guys, unlucky. On chapter 5 start with those 3 extra guys appearing right after you kill the 2 next to the truck, those guys actually do appear every time you take too long to kill the first 2 because they're alerted by the gunfire. You can actually turn off the laser sight for all guns, I don't know what button it is for controller though. Not that any of these things matter though, you got it and well deserved.
I tried going for this back in the day and got within striking distance once (the train ride in the last level). I gave up because I had way more runs ending to glitches and bugs (specifically halfway through at the favela warehouse) than dying in-game. I've experienced the same on both 360 and PC. You can't just beat the whole game on one life, you need to roll the correct RNG multiple times throughout. It's completely screwed.
I adore the max payne franchise, and I think this is one of the best action games ever made. That said, fuck this trophy. It was the only one I didn’t get and it’s because I got right to the end of chapter 7 on my first try and the old screen glitched, so I’ve never gone back to it. The biggest issue isn’t the game itself, though it can be challenging, it’s the fucking awful bugs. Fair play to you for doing it. It was definitely made as a troll by the devs.
I remember dying at the airport (final scene) and I goofed hitting the grenade launcher one hit kill (I almost broke down since I died twice during the airport rush), after beating it, I think I never touched this cursed game again.
There were only three enemies at 11:42. For some reason the guy in the kill cam didn't actually die and got back up. That itself may have been a bug though.
I didn't record any footage of it but a few years back I beat this one on my very first attempt ever of it on 360. There were a few instances where the run really should have ended but got real lucky to be honest. There were few last stand encounters and one specific moment where the armored car almost one tapped me but somehow recovered with 98% of my health gone (this is where the run really should have ended). Some of the bugs noted here in the video I fortunately never had to encounter sound absolutely heinous. Kudos to anyone who is able to get this done though.
In Chapter 5 where enemies in very beginning, if two enemies notices you, or you kill them out loud, it'll trigger to spawn three-four enemies where you've encountered 2 times. So... it's not a bug, it's sorta feature.
23:03 This is actually a scripted event that happens if you aren't quick enough to kill the enemies before they fire their guns which will alert more enemies to your location which is why three extra guys appeared.
I wish I could get into games like Max Payne 3 or Wolfestein II, but just watching you do it gives me second hand rage and seeing how they never fixed the shit in this game I'm not at all confident in the coming remakes, especially with both Rockstar and Remedy going weird ways. Other than that I'm really surprised with how much time you rack up there, I always thought you'dd be on a tighter budget in terms of time.
It doesn't surprise me. I've done it and 99% of runs end with bugs, such as falling through the floor. Took me over a year off and on playing to get it because of bugs. It plays on normal difficulty so the levels aren't hard if you've played enough but the bugs kill it.

There's an option to turn off any weapons attachments like lasers and flashlights (atleast in pcs, but I strongly think it'd be on the consoles too)

Turning off the laser sight always helps my aim with the helicopter section in chapter 2, and with guns throughout the game in general.
Remember getting this achievement back in July 2023 on PC after 7 attempts. Thank God Free Aim restriction is useless on PC.

I came here to watch the struggle since every person that played this either didn't do New York Minute Hardcore or had a terrible time with it, I personally didn't find it that difficult. But you're playing on a controller with no aim assist, that explains it haha. Full respect for doing it on controller with no aim assist, I would never do that myself.
A few observations I have though:
On chapter 6 Part 2 with those 3 guys you have to kill and then an extra guy appearing? I have never seen that before I always get just those 3 guys, unlucky.
On chapter 5 start with those 3 extra guys appearing right after you kill the 2 next to the truck, those guys actually do appear every time you take too long to kill the first 2 because they're alerted by the gunfire.
You can actually turn off the laser sight for all guns, I don't know what button it is for controller though.
Not that any of these things matter though, you got it and well deserved.

I tried going for this back in the day and got within striking distance once (the train ride in the last level). I gave up because I had way more runs ending to glitches and bugs (specifically halfway through at the favela warehouse) than dying in-game. I've experienced the same on both 360 and PC. You can't just beat the whole game on one life, you need to roll the correct RNG multiple times throughout. It's completely screwed.
I adore the max payne franchise, and I think this is one of the best action games ever made. That said, fuck this trophy. It was the only one I didn’t get and it’s because I got right to the end of chapter 7 on my first try and the old screen glitched, so I’ve never gone back to it. The biggest issue isn’t the game itself, though it can be challenging, it’s the fucking awful bugs.
Fair play to you for doing it. It was definitely made as a troll by the devs.
You not knowing you can turn off the lasers and that getting you killed is so upsetting
I remember dying at the airport (final scene) and I goofed hitting the grenade launcher one hit kill (I almost broke down since I died twice during the airport rush), after beating it, I think I never touched this cursed game again.

There were only three enemies at 11:42. For some reason the guy in the kill cam didn't actually die and got back up. That itself may have been a bug though.

I didn't record any footage of it but a few years back I beat this one on my very first attempt ever of it on 360. There were a few instances where the run really should have ended but got real lucky to be honest. There were few last stand encounters and one specific moment where the armored car almost one tapped me but somehow recovered with 98% of my health gone (this is where the run really should have ended). Some of the bugs noted here in the video I fortunately never had to encounter sound absolutely heinous. Kudos to anyone who is able to get this done though.

My favorite part is how you can’t skip cutscenes…. Every restart is even more painful now.
In Chapter 5 where enemies in very beginning, if two enemies notices you, or you kill them out loud, it'll trigger to spawn three-four enemies where you've encountered 2 times. So... it's not a bug, it's sorta feature.
23:03 This is actually a scripted event that happens if you aren't quick enough to kill the enemies before they fire their guns which will alert more enemies to your location which is why three extra guys appeared.
Holy crap bro, your aim is excellent on console. The fact that it's 30fps on Xbox 360. On PC this run would be like 20times easier.

I wish I could get into games like Max Payne 3 or Wolfestein II, but just watching you do it gives me second hand rage and seeing how they never fixed the shit in this game I'm not at all confident in the coming remakes, especially with both Rockstar and Remedy going weird ways.
Other than that I'm really surprised with how much time you rack up there, I always thought you'dd be on a tighter budget in terms of time.

It doesn't surprise me. I've done it and 99% of runs end with bugs, such as falling through the floor. Took me over a year off and on playing to get it because of bugs. It plays on normal difficulty so the levels aren't hard if you've played enough but the bugs kill it.
Took me about 2 months to accomplish. My palms were really sweaty and my heart was pounding... but I did it!!
