This man just had surgery and he still gets up to let everyone else know whats up. That's why I subbed, I can tell you give your honest thoughts no matter what. You've helped me pick all my accessories and I can't thank you enough
Couldn't agree more. Techne is the best. He continually pumps out extremely professional and detailed reviews that have helped me out so much! I had no idea he just had surgury. Props to you Techne! God bless you and your family.

I’m happy that ur surgery went well. The video is top notch like always
was about to say the same thing
what surgery did he get?
I agree. I’m glad you’re surgery went well and that you’re safe. Good review as well. Thanks.
Ive never seen a more wholesome comment or even such a wholesome comment section
@@Ethan-bi1fo same question
Just to be clear, the sound test comparison was done with Cherry/Kailh reds. So focus on the body/case sound and the rattle.
If this board was cheaper would it change your thoughts on recommending it?
CodyOdy T it would have to be around $75
Are there any keyboard with optical switches that don’t rattle or have a metal tang sound? I hear that in reviews of most optical keyboards.
Hey man, even tho you are explicitly stating you are comparing them to kailh red switches, Its not really optimal to make a sound comparison with different switch types. The click of the purple optical drowns out most of the other noises in a sound test recorded with a mic. Please use mx blues or other switches for a comparison, otherwise it's pointless. I also would like to point out that gateron reds defintly feel not as smooth as the razer reds. I agree that the purple switches aren't the greatest feel and soundwise, because the clicker defeats the greatest aspect of a contactless switch:the smoothness. The optical reds however are great in the feel department and blow mx and gateron reds away in term of keyfeel. With the new dampening in the v2 reds the sound should be improved too.
I'm currently recording my review of the huntsman mini and agree on your criticism on the pricing tho. :) maybe you consider hopping by and give your feedback. (At least on the technical aspect of my videos, since they are in german)
This is not intended as hate at all. Just a different perspective :)
Ps: And from the reviews you mocked in your intro I didn't get the vibe this was the best keyboard ever. More like this is solid in comparison to most mass market boards (aka. Logitech, corsair etc.)
Hey Techne, What is your favorite mouse that you use? Also keep up the good work!
I’m glad the surgery went well, it’s really awesome how even right after surgery your uploading that’s amazing keep up the great work. 👍
Didn’t even know he had a surgery but I love his videos and his style of reviews and how cool he is, did he post it on his Twitter if so I rlly want to know it -

@@joboardan I have the huntsman mini and I have to say the key noise drives me crazy. Sounds like you’re cocking a plastic toy gun with springs
When I watched other tech channels review this keyboard they said the switches sounded and felt great but I was thinking it sounds terrible so I ended up doubting myself because these guys surely wouldn't lie so I thought it must just be coming through the mic like that and then I watch this review which proves I was right all along, good for u man please never change honesty is a hard thing to find on utube these days and hope the surgery went well u da man 👍
It's a good board. But it's just lost it's potential from the 60% layout. My Huntsman TE, which is basically the same keyboard as this but bigger, sounds and feels way better than this keyboard. And also cheaper. Recommend you get that or if you really need a 60%, The Ducky One2 Mini.
I think it’s cus they were all using the red switches
@@underated_username7567 what are you even talking about bud. a keyboard doesn't lose its' potential because it's a 60% format. If you don't want 60 you just don't buy that. I like to use wide mousepads (40cm minimum) and for that 60 works best. on a tkl I have to rest it slightly on a mousepad and full sized is a no go.
@@Jazzed66 yea exactly what I was thinking
@@underated_username7567 thats the dumbest comment ive read, razer took user feedback and made the switches BETTER. He rewied the PURPLE not red switches

Heqtix Fortnite kid 🤢🤮
I think the biggest thing you're missing about the Mini is the optical switches. So to answer your question at 11:52 & 14:33 - optical switches with no metallic contact with the PCB and a 100 million lifespan vs 50 million lifespan is the reason why people would pick this. That's what they bring to the table over Ducky. Also, people were praising the new Red switches because they're miles better than their previous iteration of the red switches. Is this the best keyboard on the market? No, but I also haven't seen a review where someone claimed it was.
Hey there Frank nice to chat again. Cherry MX also have 100m now. Sure the red switches were upgraded, does that make them better yes, but good.......ehhhhhh, also praising razer for being able to finally adjust onboard rgb? Come on man, we have to be transparent and consistent with our viewers. Not company pets. If another board of this caliber was being reviewed it would be trashed especially at the price point, even at the 99$ you said it should be at. Yes we should stay focused on the product at hand, but it a shame to influence viewers to buy this board, you can beat around about it, but there is nothing that makes this board worth 120-130$. And many of the reviews did say it was great and a good buy. So you as a person that has reviewed many boards and built many, know this board is not worth the asking price or the good reviews. I could have praised this board, said it was a good buy, got on razers a good side, maybe got a nice promo tweet with my channel in it, banked off affiliated links, and not replying to comments like this. But man this is why I made this channel in the first place.
@@TheTechne Yes I said it would be better priced at $99. But again, optical switches do have an advantage vs traditional switches. No metallic contact is a huge thing that you're overlooking. Also, Cherry's standards have plummeted over the years and they've become a laughing stock in the community, that's why you're seeing Gateron take over. I mentioned onboard RGB as a bonus because 99% of the people hate Synapse, and now with onboard lighting profiles you dont technically need Synapse. I also dogged them for Synapse in my review. Again you're completely entitled to your opinion obviously, and I know you weren't directly talking to me in the first place - but I felt I had to respond.
I think calling this keyboard "garb" is a bit much though.
PS frank: I use to work 12yrs of upper retail management (awhile ago) and you know we had to “sell” products, and I did it as it was my livelihood/career. I know many other tech tubers that use this platform as their jobs and main source of income. That is a very big driving force with youtubers, and I totally understand it, but that is not my way. This is not my main source of income and never will be my “job”.
My point here, is don’t let money drive you. You have been very successful, and make great vids. But again man stay true, and inform your viewers the FrankP way, not the company way.
@@randomfrankp what do you think is the best keyboard
randomfrankp man again I 100% agree with you, and love the talk. Hope we have many more in the future. My point is right there though. Many keyboard fans hate on cherry mx, these are in no way any better than them, sure the actuation is nice but other than that, they are a loud rattling switch. Others hate on the sound of a SteelSeries board or Logitech board, yet here we are with it being acceptable on this board. Why? It can’t be one way and not the other. Again my main point here is, so many razer reviews lately have been “my new main” “listing to the community” razer is a company/business that knows what will sell, they research these things, they are following trends. That’s what companies do sure, but stop fluffing razer up already. Also have you watched/read other reviews on this board? Some/many of them again are like, really???
TLDR : it has the fastest possible switch available in a 60% board currently, which makes people attracted to it. No other 60% board has it.
the thing which differentiates it from other keyboards, love it or hate it, is the SWITCHES. They are specifically aimed at GAMERS and ESPORT PLAYERS who want possibly the fastest switch available, and it is those consumers who wont are too much about the feel as want they are after is RAW PERFORMANCE.
Faster does not always mean better. Especially when referencing use for online and competitive games that have to travel through many layers of latency, that .1 or .2ms of actuation on a kb is going to get gobbled right up by Either latency from isp, net code from the game, slow servers, anything really.. There are so many anomalies that can happen when playing *Esports* and competitve style games. The real world difference in Gaming with a Linear switch Vs an optical Linear will never be felt by a human. Now just because you see bugha or some of his fans and followers using apex boards, doesn't mean they are better than traditional MX style switches. In theory Optical could be the play one day. Right now they are not as refined as some would like.
David Glass it’s still a good keyboard rather you like it or hate it because of the faster reaction time then any other keyboard and it’ll give an advantage for you to shoot before your opponent does and secure the kill plus it’s mainly meant for gaming esports so you can be faster than your opponent especially if you have 0 ping and every good keyboard is gonna cost around 60 to 100$
So sorry to hear about the surgery, but I'm happy you're doing okay. Still, uploading a video the day after is pure dedication and you're channel honestly is one of my favorites so much respect ♥️
I bought the Huntsman a couple weeks ago and it actually delivers today. I think the only reason I get Razer products is because I’m new to the PC game. Been a console player my whole life, over two decades. I think the packaging and overall aesthetics of Razer’s stuff was just very appealing to me, plus it had a very high quality look at feel to it. Especially from someone who had no context on what to look for in good peripherals. I love the Ornata Chroma I have and I liked the Naga Trinity I have (recently switched to a Logitech). The Kraken Tournament headset is also fantastic but, there’s just so many different companies that make the same products that it’s so easy to get lost in the sea of price ranges, values, quality etc. that at the end of the day all someone like me looks for is what feels and looks the best.
Some of Razer's stuff isn't that bad. The quality used to be pretty atrocious a decade ago but they've thankfully been listening to the community and improving things a ton. I'm still a big fan of the Deathadder when it comes to mice because of how comfortable it feels
I started following you because I could tell you were being honest, instead of gushing over every new product. Keep it real man!
His voice was so easy to follow despite the fact that he was talking pretty fast
thats my inner jersey, lol
I swear he's one of the most honest UA-camrs with his fanbase, and stands by his morals.
omg razer sent the techne a label maker instead of the keyboard!! I WANT A LABEL MAKER REVIEW!!

Gaming label maker
So would it be better to get a Razer huntsman mini or the GK61 gateron optical yellow switches
God
respectable review but the optical switches is the big selling point which u have to factor into the price forsure, also it has media keys using the function key, granted the durgod does too but not the ducky
Ye exactly and it sounds good and feels great idk y he hatin
Index cuz u can compare these to boards with cheaper switches like the kailh box whites. Sounds nicer, less ping, and better feel in trade for “performance” (performance is not a noticeable difference)
@@Zel909 that was a month ago plus i had mixed feelings about that board its ok not bad and ping not noticable, i tried it. But it feels like shit and u can easily get a board with blue switches and you'll like that more. I want box jades cuz i wanna earrape my house. Lmao 😂😂
Index I personally use lubed creams so once i used my friend’s version of this board (in the red variant) the ping was impossible for me to not hear. My GK61 has box jades and oh my those are LOUDD. If i were you, use SA profile keycaps to get the nicest thock with a nice high pitch too. Lubed stabs also help.
Hey stats
As a Razer fanboy I appreciate the honesty. That's the only thing holding me back from picking it up is the price. I do think you should have mentioned the optical switches, that is a big selling point for a lot of gamers. Also synapse rules imo lol 🤣 I love being able to customize my rgb for all my peripherals with 1 program. It just runs in the background like antivirus. I rarely have to open synapse. You're the man have a good one brother ❤️
THANK YOU TECHNE!! I follow so many tech reviewers that were glorifying this keyboard like it was the new best thing. You’re the only one I watched that was honest and critical. Those other reviews were driving me crazy.
D W I know I’ve watched almost all of them. IMO the red switches sound just as bad.
@@potion95 honestly i actually love the sound though for some reason Imo
D W yeah in price
Your the most honest tech reviewer out there. That has made you my favorite tech youtuber for sure!!
thank you so much for the support
One of the only REAL reviewers out there, props to your sir. Keep it up, never change :)
I think you're missing the fact that the Huntsman Mini with red switches is objectively the most competitive 60% board in gaming. I understand the build quality and options of the others but a Ducky One 2 with Speed silvers can't touch the Red Huntsman in actuation and speed.
again it doesn’t justify the price tag, and similar things on this keyboard would have been trashed on another. Plus why not go apex pro if you want fast? Cost more yes, but packs way more than this.

@@reasondro shhhhh
There is so much hype around this keyboard is because of it's extremely fast optical switches, something rarely (and maybe never?) found in a 60% keyboard.
This is also the first 60% gaming keyboard by a large company, and the fact that Razer is going into these enthusiast-ish keyboards might inspire other big companies like Logitech, Corsair, Steelseries etc to explore these 60% enthusiast-ish community.
The hype isn't about this keyboard being better than most other 60% keyboards at this price point.
Wait that’s kinda all over the place. So other companies have done 60%, hyperx and redragon, Logitech also did hot swap. The “razer” switch is licensed out through a4tech/bloody. And 60% boards are mainly a trend, they sell these companies aren’t stupid. And sure the switches are fast, but they sound like complete trash, reviewers can rant about that on other boards but not this one? Weird
@@TheTechne Correct me if I'm wrong, hyperx's 60% keyboard was merely a collaration, and I don't consider redragon to be a BIG gaming company. And yes, Razer has been venturing more into the enthusiast-ish side of things with features on the Huntsman TE and now the Huntsman mini, so I believe very soon they will be releasing a 60% hotswappable keyboard.
I think you're overly critical about the sound of Razer's switches, because that's not exactly what people were raving about in the first place. People were raving about other aspects. It's like looking at the Logitech G915 and then constantly complaining about the Micro-USB cable. Yes, that's a valid concern, but the hype around the keyboard is that it is lightspeed and low profile. In this case, no one was raving about the sound of these switches, so I felt that it was weird that you kept ranting about it.
Anyways, not a razer fanboy in anyway. I use a RK61 and a Logitech G604.
Honesty is paramount in reviews, and I completely appreciate yours! Barring that I'll point out why Razer owners typically buy Razer more completely over other products (aside from the trend). It has more to do with your lighting ecosystem, and having all your peripherals on Synapse for the full light customization across multiple devices. We all know Razer isn't of the highest build quality in some cases (mice), but their lighting, and software are top notch. I had a Utechsmart giant RGB mousepad, and although it was way thicker, and better neoprene, the lights ended up being garbage, and within about 4 months started to die. I since switched to the Razer Firefly V2 hard surface, and absolutely love it. This is being typed on a Blackwidow X Chroma TE V1 that I've had for roughly 5 or so years, and it's still a kickass keyboard. Thank you for this video, and once again, thank you for your honesty!
To be fair you are comparing clicky switches to linears(they might be cherry browns, but basically linear). Cherry mx blues have an unpleasant rattily/plasticy sound to them as well. IN that regard I dont see the switches being that much different to a mx equivalent
Awesome review video! Looks like a nice keyboard from Razer. Keep up the good work!
i am from Argentina and I got this keyboard for 110 usd. Products do not arrive here and if they arrive they are exorbitant prices (ducky 2 for usd 250, rk61 150, redragon rk51 usd 90, nisuta rkz61 usd 80).
In my case, I think it was a good purchase, but if I lived in the US I would buy an Anne Pro 2.

I'm just seeing this, and I'm amazed at the quality of the analysis here, especially towards the end. Definitely going to be a big tech reviewer in the future🚀
I appreciate the hell out of this unbiased review.
Techne, I'm going to be bluntly honest. I didn't like you at first. I never "disliked" your videos, but I just didn't really like your reviews. I don't have anything personal against you, I just thought there were other reviewers that I liked more. This board was getting mass universal praise from all the channels I watched. I have a Glorious GMMK. For what I paid, and to have a hot swap PCB, I was wondering why everyone loved this so much. So here I am, looking at your review. You called this out just as it has been in the tech community. This was a great video. I'm sorry I doubted you, I'm sorry I snap judged you. Subbed, thank you for being honest, transparent, and just a genuine tech reviewer. Best of luck in your upcoming videos, you've made a new fan.
Ah man thank you for the support. And I’m glad I have “earned” your sub. I honestly like that you put me to the test, I truly do. Thank you so much again. Hope to see you around more.

The fact the letter "B" is a completely different key cap than the rest of the board is my biggest issue. It is driving me nuts. The review copies you see and on the product box the board has a matching "B" key cap. The one you receive when YOU buy it, will have a "B" key cap different than the rest of the board. It is even positioned higher, than every other key in that row. The Windows key is also different and is brighter than the rest of the board. How didn't you see this?
Razer is junk.
I was seriously hyped for this keyboard. Especially following your recent razer reviews (bit of a fanboy), but I won't buy this keyboard because it isn't justified. High quality reviews, High quality information and consistently telling us as consumers what we need/want to know about our product that the store/box doesn't tell you! Thanks once again Techne!
Well you made a one big mistake by not buying this keyboard especially the one with the red switches.
i'm so glad the surgery went well and you are my favorite youtuber. is amazing how you just get out of surgery and get back on the grind 💪
finally someone with an honest review instead of praising those terrible sounding switches. the board as a whole sounds very low quality
Wdym terrible sounding switches, the clicky switches sound crisp and sharp and the linear switches are quiet and dampened. You cant critique a keyboard based off the sound.
Heyo! Dude, I'm thrown away! You are actually the first TECH REVIEWER THAT MAKES THE CORRECT CALL! These switches have been made available to the public by a4/bloody way before Razer decided to introduce them in their lineup. When I heard your "bloody" comment, I knew you were a well informed person worth listenning to.

You spit some hard facts right there. I am so sick of reviewers not telling it like it is. Can you try the red switches when it comes out? I would like to hear the new sound, thanks!
YoItzMatthew it’s definitely personal preference but reds aren’t clicky so of course they will obviously sound quieter and not as loud as a clicky switch
I want to but that also makes it 20$ more, the board itself isn’t worth that price.

I actually love the purple switches from razer I get why most people aren’t tho
same here, i personally like the purple switches a lot. coming from blue outemou's, this is a breath of fresh air because it isn't as hard to actuate and the click is still satisfying to listen to. I get concern over rattling but it's not like I'd shake my board out of the blue XD
Sir Paris I have outemu blues, used to love it, now I hate it. Btw do u use redragon?
Rizzy Playzz i had a mitra for a while as my first mech!! Really reliable keeb but i sold it to get tecware phantom tkl since me desk was pretty small. I have also bought an RK61 in red and i have been liking both, still like the huntsman mini more tho 😂

Same i have the razer hunstman mini and its actually really good the switches I got are purple and i think they are brilliant
For a typist, these optical switches are a dream. Gamers might not like them so much. They're loud, sure, but they feel so good and they're less fatiguing than traditional switches. Just got one on a discount, and now I have a keeb to take away with me!

1. This dude is insane, if I had surgery, I would be sleeping from the medicine they give u
2. I love how he isn't one of those people that just likes to spew hate on razer, literally everybody that reviews a razer keyboard just dumps all of the hate on them and doesn't show anything good ab the razer product. I get that razer products r overpriced some but that doesn't mean dump all of ur hate on razer. Thank you for actually saying the good things ab razer.
Razer is very good
It's hard for someone to talk bad about something that literally has their name written on it lol, sponsored reviews = bad
I personally hate Razer products based on my own experience of buying more than 10 razer products. However, I still ordered the huntsman mini in purple switch bc I have a huntsman elite and I actually like it. It is my only razer that does not have aby issue. What I am saying is, based on different people have different preference, there is no way to defined the switch is bad or not.
And also, if the youtuber himself gives a thumb up to an unfair comment that actually says"sponsor=bad", I don't know if I can trust this person
@@hoowoo320 a sponsored review is fundamentally bad because it skews the opinion of the one reviewing it, you cannot get an honest answer our of someone that's in the pocket of the company, that's how sponsorships work.
@NYC2LA I don't hate Razer, I hate sponsored reviews. And I wasn't even talking about the product or buying it I was talking about the reviews
@@brock8140 what if the product is actually good? Then you still will think it is bad just because it has many sponsered review?
@NYC2LA because I am stupid and the razer design always gets me. Many times they announced a new product and I say "damn it looks good" and I just buy it. Most of them won't last over 3 monthes without any issue specially their mice. But I gotta say their keyboards are actually ok. I have bought 4 keyboards from razer so far and none of them had issues which is surprising.
You kinda forgot that the switches are the fastes you can get and the red switches sound much different.
I was reviewing the purple switch board, haven’t tested the reds, yes they sound better but still not good. Ps the apex pro is faster but with more travel. Slap an o ring on it and bam
@@TheTechne I have the Apex Pro. Saying that they are "faster switches" is a loose statement. The Hall Effect and laser interruption are both non-contact switch technologies. The only way that you can claim one is faster than the other is by actuation distance and this is true on the Apex Pro only if you set the switches to setting 1, which very few people will be able to realistically tolerate.

I definitely think that the board is overpriced at 119.00. I feel like a solid price point for this board would have been 100 bucks, but they cant price it that cheap because of the Oranta V2 which never needed a refresh. I understand somebody wanting a board like this on their desk for the in-game integration that Razer offers (lots of games make the keyboard change colors and highlight your nav cluster and such), but at the current price point it's sitting at, it's not a great recommendation. On a side-note Razer Purple switches are my least favorite switch they produce. Too crunchy feeling and the noise is deafening. I feel like if they had released this board with their normal mechanical switches for maybe 90 bucks (sounds cheap but if you look at their mechanical boards vs the optical ones it follows their price trend) it would be a solid buy.
I love your honesty. One of the main reasons why I subbed and started following you.
consistent vids after surgery a great attitude great editing. man you and ur grind is worth a million subs
Thank you so much
The linear switches on the 60% razer keyboard are significantly quieter than the linear switches on the TKL variant. I just wanted to point that out.
Yes, I stated that in the vid.
@@TheTechne Oh really? I didn't hear you say anything about that lol. I wonder if you're going to do a video on the same keyboard but with the linear switches.
Ghost Den I want to, but man 130$ is still heavy for what I get. Maybe I can ask razer to send me one, lol. Doubt that will go well.
@@TheTechne It's all good man! Heck, you don't have to do one if you don't want to ;)
The Techne: "You can really hear the rattle
Alos The Techne: "Presses as hard as he can on every key during the sound test"
I press them hard and soft, showing multiple press/uses.
@@TheTechne my bad didn't see that
Dude here take my sub. I also made a review of this and it is currently loading. I had to post it asap as the "reviews" on UA-cam are way too positive about this. It sounded bad on the videos but they kept saying it has improved and hyping up stuff that was already on the market way way before. Well it has improved since the previous one was bad, but the competition is better and cheaper. After using this, I now think of those content creators not as reviewers but advertisers. You. Keep doing you.
lol, thank you so much. I also watched yours, and you nailed it man.
@@TheTechne Thanks! Appreciate it. Have a speedy recovery!
Loving your channel & the way you have grown it. Big thumbs up! 👍
I’m glad the surgery went well but this is dedication just had surgery n this man recorded a video
FINALLY someone who speaks the legit truth about (most) razer products. I Love razer more than most people (all my peripherals for my PC are razer) But that doesn't mean i'm blind to their faults. Most of their keyboards, mice, and headsets feel so plastic-y and especially their keyboards sound so cheap. I love their looks, their synapse software, and their RGB effects....but for the prices they ask for, the build quality just isn't there.
I normally go for older keyboards as they have decreased in value, such as the Huntsman TE which is now very cheap on amazon.
Didn't have issues with the quality though and with the lowered price I think it's a pretty good deal.
Glad your surgery went well, stay safe and keep grinding on UA-cam your content is awesome
thank you so much
Plants have to be in every tech review.. Everybody knows that. You're the best techne 💪🏻
Lol
man just got out of surgery and continued doing what he loved, thats some passion!!
My wife didn’t think that way, lol.
Nice vids man, I like the reviews and video quality, it’s also very entertaining to watch. Sub well earned 👍
Thanks for review Techne, you get a lot of respect in my book. All the other reviews I've seen on this board all literally sound the exact same like they are literally reading a script for their review lol. Guess some people just want free products and try to push hype for their affiliate links regardless of how good or bad the product may be. I like Razer stuff, but I think at this price it's not justifiable at all to consider this board with others out like there like you said. If they continue to work on their boards not just reduce footprint, like improve stabilizers, sound dampening and such they will be headed in the right direction.
I experienced that issue he addressed towards the beginning of the video where there was a slight wobbling with the keyboard. There's a pretty easy fix. Basically the keyboard is bent so just apply *light* pressure to the 2 wobbly corners and it'll level out.
Mate, it's a great Board, but if you din't like this one. Check Out their new 2nd Gen Switches on the Mercury Version.
I was wondering about buying this keyboard for Christmas, well thank you for helping me find out if I should buy it, you deserve a sub and I’m glad you’re surgery went good. 👍🏽
The only other thing I can add to this is that the switches have a faster activation time due to the nature of the optical switches. However, that only really applies to the top 1 percent of people that require that millisecond of response time. However for your average consumer, you're pretty much on point. 120 ish bucks puts this board into the realm of the Mecha Mini. I could only see this being an option if you need a 60 percent board RIGHT NOW from your local best Buy. Not sure who that dude is. Probably the same person Google made Stadia for.
Attention: The Blackwidow Mini V3 will not connect with the Razer Viper Ultimate mouse on the same dongle. Even though it says it connects to other Hyperspeed devices, both devices do not connect.
No one can touch Gateron in term of optical switches but you know, Bloodys are cheaper and with the Razer's name you can market them as the biggest innovation in the keyboards game.
Thank you for being honest!
These reviews are so professional. Ty for helping me pick out my headset, ive decided to go with the Redragon Zeus.
Yo I’m subbing just because he came out of surgery and he still brings a video to us
lol, thank you so much for the support!
My pleasure
