Bhaal is a bard confirmed
He slept with many females and had many mortal children because he somehow foresaw his death at the hands of Cyric during the Time of Troubles (or someone who can predict the future tipped him off), so he spawned his mortal children so that each of them can carry portions of his godly essence in their bodies so that after he dies, their deaths (excluding The Dark Urge) can bring him back from the dead.
You know, I'm thinking we are blaming the bards too much, and the dragons not enough.

Dragons bang everything so often it’s literally a the basis of a sorcerer subclass. Idk why anyone would be surprised.
The forgotten realms setting even had a specific archetype template for half dragon creatures that werent sentient back in 3.0.
So, yes, they very much will bang anything that can reproduce.
So dragons are the Zeus of d&d?
@@projoe7Mrx11 more or less
@@projoe7Mrx11 Not really, Dragons don't often go the lengths Zeus does. Zeus has banged everything as everything and likely both sexes as both sexes too.
I mean... They are known for kidnapping princesses.
Bhaal was an Assassin class in life, but what they don't tell you is that he multiclassed as a bard
Of fucking course he did. Goddamn it.
To be honest, we should probably just ditch the bard specific stereotype and make it a stereotype of the Charisma stat itself.
Everything with a high charisma stat wants to bang the dragon.
Bard, Paladin, Sorcerer, you name it.
I mean… the game advertised doing it with a bear.
Dragons in Forgotten realms can take human forms though. And perhaps Bhaal turned into a dragon

Dragons can - and will - mate with just about anything if it passes the Harkness test. And some things that don't if they're chromatic. There's an old mating compatability chart, and Dragons are 'yes' to literally everything that's on it.

Yeah…Dragons and Humans are two species in D&D that will basically fuck everything and are responsible for more hybrids than all other species combined.
That's actually one of the least disgusting thing Bhaal has done.
Humanoids having children with dragons happens a lot more often than you think.
@@willr.1495 Yeah, that's why I said that it's really not that disgusting.
A friendly reminder that in the forgotten realms setting (which baldurs gate is apart of) dragons have the innate ability to change shape. They can take on the form of whatever species they desire while retaining their true nature. The vast majority of humans that mate with dragons and produce offspring do not actually KNOW that they are doing so. Lot of human women getting the surprise of their life when they lay an egg, and human males waking up to find a half dragon egg in their home.
@@willr.1495 I run it in my games that the in-universe racist stereotype is that a human will bang literally anything except for another human.
Sure, nothing can beat the rabbit Bhaalspawn in front of Yagashura's palace...
Yes, he did bang a dragon! A blue dragon! To those that don't know, Abazigal was a half-blue dragon, he was one of the main antagonists of Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal, the expansion of Shadows of Amn. He's a tough son of a b*tch to fight, especially when he transforms into his full dragon form. The Five were what Bhaal's strongest lesser Bhaalspawn were called.
#1: Illasera, the female half-elf
#2: Yaga Shura, the male half-fire giant
#3: Sendai, the female half-drow
#4: Abazigal, the male half-blue dragon (He is not a dragonborn, dragonborn were not in Faerun or any part of Toril yet before Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, they started showing up in Faerun during the Spellplague which started 15 years after Throne of Bhaal), Oh, and Abazigal had a half-blue-brown dragon son named Draconis!
#5: Balthazar, a male human monk and the only one of The Five who was good aligned, and he is the strongest of The Five above Abazigal because a high leveled monk is no joke.
(edit): It is also official that there have been more than a dozen humans that have knocked up a dragon throughout the Forgotten Realms' history. How is that possible? In Forgotten Realms D&D, some dragons have the natural ability, or magic spells or items like rings that help them shapeshift into humans or elves, not all dragons in the Forgotten Realms are sleeping in caves full of stolen treasure or anything like that, some are walking around towns and cities disguised as a common human or elf. You wouldn't know that the person in front of you is a disguised dragon unless they reveal it to you.
That wouldn't happen to be the Balthazar we encounter in BG3, would it? Just his body i imagine tho
@@lewd2851 No, not him. The Bhaalspawn Balthazar was a Lawful Good monk.
@@lewd2851 Iirc Balthazar supposedly took the name from someone else.

Not a surprise: if you played the older games you'd know Bhaal got around because he was preparing for the eventuality of his death, which you had to deal with in Throne of Bhaal. Even did it with a fire giant
I think I may mix this with other old myth but, I kinda remember Bhaal also bang inanimate objects (rocks/minerals, a lake, some hole in the mine, etc)
I wasn't too surprised, like why fix ehat isn't broken.

Does this comment section realize that dragon usually shapeshift in humanoid form when the mate with smaller races? Also, this is literally the least disturbing fact about Baal. Dragons in disguise seduce and sleep around all the time in Faerun. There’s nothing special or unique about it.
I guess they like to let their imaginations run wild.
yes, but that's the boring option
To add to this: Read "The Legend of Huma"; there's a lot of correlation between the dragonlance series and D&D, even down to some of the characters. That series will give you a lot of information as a whole, but how dragons relate the other races, this book in particular is a good one.

Abazigal is actually one of the final bosses from Baldurs Gate 2, and he also has a son (who is also a dragon bhaalspawn). Nice to see him back
Iirc Jarlaxle had a couple coppers that he liked to visit. Apparently, according to the copper twins, he has "the soul of a dragon". ;3
Trust me Durge, it's overrated- he keeps making that stupid "Bhaals Deep" joke that he thinks is soooo funny
yes specifically a blue one, you kill that particular bhaal spawn
Compared to most villains of Baldur's Gate 3, the Five were on a whole other level. I liked Yaga Shura the most, because he had an actual f*cking army you needed to fight before facing him.
You've got to watch out for the dragons that can change shape - mostly the metallics (the supposedly "good" dragons), they're always going around just banging everything in sight. Half the NPCs you meet in D&D could be a dragon in disguise…
at the end durge was like god damn right i will

"Pray one day you have the honor of doing the same", buddy it's the year 2024 I wouldn't be the only one
Black Dragonborn, green eyes, halberd horns. Only difference between our Durges is that Trillian was a Druid.
Bhaal has good taste.
"Pray one day, you will have the honor of doing the same"
It's Faerun. Who *hasn't* boned a dragon there?
i do pray
i remember kicking his arse in BG2
“Dragonborn, huh? Was it your ma or your pa that was the dragon?”
"Dragonborn, huh? Is this the part where I make a joke about your mom?"
I mean, its not exactly that weird in D&D, especially since many dragons can shapeshift into a humanoid form.
That only applies to Metallic dragons, not Chromatic dragons.
@willr.1495 As far as innate abilities go, you're correct. Though in Storm King's Thunder, the ancient blue dragon Iymrith also possesses this ability, though she shifts into a giant. Abazigal in BG2 could take the form of a blue-skinned humanoid. It's reasonable to assume that based on their magical nature, chromatic dragons can learn to change shape, but it isn't second nature to them like a silver dragon. Though any chromatic other than a green or blue probably won't give a shit- I can't see a red dragon being okay with taking the form of a lesser being.
that´s how covid started
Dragon? Would.
Dragons in dnd have been known to shapeshift into anything to damn have anyone. You can even look it up in the dnd handbook about the dragons and the dragonborn race, its very amazing but also terrifying-
He mated with a Fire Giant too.
Dragonborn are not actualy children of dragons they are a naturaly ocuring species
The Five all together was such a great cameo for ToB fans!

Yeah, it's Baldur's Gate _3_ for a reason, yknow, cuz like there were 2 more before this one, one of which had a bhaalspawn dragon in it, named Abazigal...
Well according to the Book of Erotic Fantasy from dnd 3.5 dragons are uniquely fertile and can produce spawn with basically anything including things like elementals that wouldnt usually reproduce.

That's kinda terrifying.
And now I want to make that statblock...
Reminds me of a certain someone in elden rings
Weird how the game can't decide whether dragonborn are half dragons or actual in lore dragonborn.
Dragonborn in the game are mostly lore conform (with some liberties here and there, especially in the visual department). There is no implication that Dragonborn are half-dragons. The one Durge is talking to in this video is an actual dragon (well, half dragon, half god) that simply uses a humanoid form. Probably because the devs thought it might be slightly distracting having a big a** dragon in that small room.
What I don’t understand is why every dragons in Baldur gate 3 chose dragonborn as their humanoid disguise of choice when they usually favor the shape of humans and elves when they mingle among other races. In any other forgotten realm stories I read, I never seen a dragon chose a dragonborn as their disguise.
@@nikogarcia201 They probably just did it to hammer it home that "yes these are dragons!".
@@AdeptKing But the whole point of dragon shapeshifting is to hide the fact your a dragon. That’s why humans and elves are popular choice because they are commons in faerun. Dragonborn are rare outside their homeland so you automatically start drawing attention on yourself by being an unusual sight. They don’t even choose a different scale color for their disguise. The most stupid exemple is Voss red dragon. He could have disguise himself as a fellow githyanki but instead choose a red dragonborn. That is 100% going to draw suspicions since Gith seldom associate themselves with other race and they need to fool the rest of their people into believing they are still loyal to Vlakith. And dragon are not exactly fond of dragonborn (the feeling is mutual). So why would a proud dragon (especially a red one) chose a Dragonborn as his disguise?
Uhhhh... Does Tiamat Count?
As an attempt to inject some sanity into this, dragons change into humanoid forms a lot.
Metallic dragons can, it's ambiguous on whether Chromatic dragons can shape shift too.
