Tommy takes a lot of heat for the makeup thing. As a guitar player, he's top 3 with Bruce and Ace. Vinny was always a bad fit but he deserves credit as a solid cowriter. Never wrote anything great on his own but he got some awesome tunes out of Paul and Gene. MSJ wasnt around long enough to truly judge him.
Ace is the original and is great but Bruce is so criminally underrated. I really think he and Kiss were hitting their stride when the reunion happened. From revenge to carnival of souls they were just killing it in my opinion. I wish that after they moved on from Ace and Peter they would have picked up where they left off with Bruce and Eric.
ACE is the best -- focus on the melodies and style he came up with. The most original, and most , memorable -- and the best vibrato. It is my opinion but I have over 40 years of experience. Also, remember how everyone was shredding like crazy and then Slash came out with a fixed bridge and played all those memorable solos. Music and memorable melodies and solos is what counts.

I have been a musician (guitar player) in and out of working bands for over 30 years... One thing Ive come to learn over than span of time is,,,,,(pay attention youngsters),,,,,,,,, When you are young you instinctively gravitate to and want to play like the fast guns. I could rattle off a ton of the influences but everyone knows who im talking about.. But one of the hardest things to learn on guitar is to take a single note and make it sound good. Anyone can go a hundred miles an hour and after a while it just sounds like scales ripping up and down the neck with no cohesion to the rhythm.. But Ace was a master at taking a single note and just riding that thing and it still sounded great.. You master the art of making a single note sounding good to the point millions of fans expect it,,, Then and only then are you a master of your craft... And thats why I love Kiss.. It was always about the music and the greatest show on earth.... And just a added note.. So many give Tommy a really hard time... Tommy is getting paid to play music for a living! I sure as hell wouldn’t pass that up. What? You want me to wear a clown wig, a speedo, and flip flops while playing this guitar and you’ll pay me for it? Where do I sign???
Hey Old Man Patriot....Spot-on advice! I too have been playing guitar in countless gigging bands for almost 40 years now, blues, rock, country, etc., and back in the early and mid 80's the speed thing was a huge part of the mix. But, I've grown enough to realize that there is extreme beauty in milking a single note, or a simple phrase. For me, as a guitarist that is leaned on to cover the lead guitar parts most of the time, my goal is to make everything I play "fit" the song as much as possible, including style and rhythmically. If it isn't adding value to the groove and the feel, then its not working for me. As to wanting to perform with KISS....man, I would give anything! Thanks again for your sage advice!

Every guitarist in Kiss's history brought something unique and great to the band's catalog of music. In my humble opinion, Bruce Kulick was the best because he was the most well-rounded. He could play simple and bluesy like Ace and then rip into a total shred-fest like Vinnie. His solos were tasteful and melodic, and most importantly, he knew the keen difference between when to play and when not to play. In other words, he was well aware of the importance of the space between the notes just as much as the notes themselves.
Psycho circus and many others guitar session on the album is played by tommy thayer, not Ace. If you mean to list the originality, than it mean you are wrong put Ace on psycho circus, instead it should tommy

Vinnie(he was really fast, he's also discount RR same way as Bruce is EVH) 5. Mark(don't got a lot of songs so yeah)
Anybody notice anything? Every song sounded exactly like the previous one. It's as if they were playing one long " very bad" song. Many moon's ago I worked for a company that had dealings with Kiss. They were under the delusion that they were actually musically gifted...They were also " colossal" ass*****.
My favorites are, Ace, Bruce And Tommy. Vinnie was better in the studio and Mark I haven't much about him , he seemed good but probably also better in the studio.
In terms of melody and feel bar none Ace altough Bruce is a real close second. Technical ability either Tommy or Vinnie. The Kulick brothers are the unsung weapons of Kiss.
My order for what it’s worth. Ace Bruce Tommy ( played most like Ace) Vinnie Mark (only because of his hand disease.) he might have been the second best. You knows.
Well, as the Original, I have to say Ace was the best fit for the bands overall sound- Ace was not a shredder, he played pentatonic riffs in the vein of his heroes Page and Hendrix. He had great groove, and could also be pretty funky when he wanted to be. Bruce was a more modern shredder type, and was just a bit over the top when he first joined, but I would bet that was probably more because that’s where Gene and Paul sort of lead him. Everyone wanted a gunslinger in the mold of EVH as he had changed the face of guitar by that time, and Bruce could play like that, though I don’t think that was really his natural style, he was really just finding his voice in terms of where he fit with Kiss, and I agree that by the time revenge came around Kiss had finally found their non make up voice, and seemed very comfortable in what they were doing musically. Vinne, although a good song writer and co contributor, never really fit, nor did Mark St John. None of the solos on Animalize really seem to fit the songs, they just sounded like finger Exercises. Tommy Thayer - well, he just sounds like he is trying to hard to sound like Ace.
The solos of Is That You and Shandi are played by Paul Stanley, not by Ace Frehley. Same thing with the solo of I love it loud, it's Paul Stanley and not Vinnie Vincent.
Although all the guitarists are awesome, great talents, it was Ace that fit Kiss' sound the best, Vinnie was all about speed, he was good, but he was over the top and it's too much, I've heard him live and he just rips it out, but sometimes he's in the ozone and it's not meshing with the songs, he was then at least a big show off. Bruce was your average 80's hair metal lead guitarist which is what Kiss was in the 80's, just your average hair metal band. Wasn't to crazy about the unmasked Kiss, I didn't care for Asylum and stopped buying their albums, I had all of them up to Asylum, They had some catchy songs but it sounded just like all the other 80's bands and they weren't on my top 10 anymore. Mark St John was good I actually really liked his solo's on Animalize, too bad he didn't continue you on. Tommy great Talent, but it's apparent he's playing the part, he is totally playing Ace's style. Listen to him on black and blue's stuff from the 80's that was the real Tommy Thayer. I did see them on their End of the Road Tour in 2019 and it was excellent, Tommy was was great, but again he was playing Ace! It's too bad, I think Tommy would have blossomed if he would have had his own persona, but as it is he's just a permanent "stand in" for Space Ace.

Con mis 50 años siendo fan de Kiss debo decirles. Que con maquillaje Ace y sin maquillaje Bruce. El resto sacando a Vinnie son del monton.
Pablito no tiene nada que ver haciendo "A world..."
Tommy sound pretty average compared to all the other guitar players
