Anyone thinking Ace's guitar playing or soloing is bad need only listen to one of his first: 100,000 years. It's skillful, melodic, sinister and works perfectly with the song. It was masterful.

+Mehdi Saad Ed Roman, guitarmaker for the stars, said Ace Frehley is the most influential player of the last 40 years. Why? Well, Van Halen and Yngwie inspired other guitar players; Ace converted an entire generation of non-musicians into guitar players.
I'd say Eric was a way way way better drummer then Peter Ace over Vinnie most definitely singer and Tom Tom should not have even been an addition to the band just saying
When I was a little kid, I thought Ace was the greatest guitarist in the world. Then I studied guitar and found out that what Ace was doing was pretty easy - I kinda turned my back on him and other guitarists from that era. I studied all the theory and tried to emulate many of the “accomplished players”. The music I played was dry and pretentious. People would fall asleep listening to me play. Then one day I grew up. I realized music 🎵 was meant to inspire and motivate people - it’s not about who knows the most scales and who can play the fastest. So, I went back to thinking Ace was the greatest guitarist in the world. I know of no other guitar player who has made people want to be a Rockstar more than the Spaceman did.

Part of the problem is you had to of grown up listening in that period. Ace sounds like Ace, when you play Ace's music he doesn't sound like anyone else. I didn't appreciate Ace really till he did his KISS solo album, he has his own sound, his own vocals. Thanks for all the Memories Ace !!!
I don't think Ace's solos work if you just look at them as solos. You have to listen to Ace's solo in the context of the song he's playing. That's where he shines as a great rock guitarist. Yeah, he's sloppy, but he's playing the song. He hits the notes at exactly the right time and adds his own flair to a lick. Ace is a solid guitarist.

And thats what makes them so great! They're the song within the song. Playing a million notes and scale runs means nothing if it does nothing for the song.
If there ever was a guitarist that truly played from his soul, it is Ace!! Not the most technical, could get a bit sloppy at times, but you knew every lick came straight from his heart and soul!! Can't say that about alot of "shredders"!!

Because of those to talented guitarists I was able to find MY voice as an awkward teenager and my spirituality as an adult. I can think of no better compliment to give them. As a young teenager I would take my albums of Kiss, Ted Nugent, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and many more to "Granny Grunts" house as we affectionately called her, and she would transcribe the guitar parts then teach me the "Measures" as she called them. G. Lee GnR got a different style. KISS is more about distortion and overdriven sound. Izzy and Paul sounds pretty different. It's easier to tell which sound is coming from Izzy and thus he's more appreciated by the public. Moreover, Izzy is JUST a rhythm guitarist so he gets all the attention for being one. Paul is a vocalist and song writer too. Very few people pay attention to his guitar. They are too busy with his vocals and songs.
Being over 50 and seeing many live shows of various artists, I will agree that Paul and Gene were frustrated so much by Ace's different personality that they never really gave him credit due for his contributions, but Paul is and was a very good front man in concert. He knows how to run a show and works a crowd like the professional he is. His voice is gone, as to be expected at his age, but he is a big part of why their live shows have always been entertaining. Full disclosure: I have always felt they would not be the commercial success they are without having Ace in the original lineup.
Ace was the secret ingredient in the KISS sound, None of the guys who followed ever captured his vibe; even though they were all great in their own way, they never added the Space Ace vibe! Great video, thanks for posting!
I am 44, been a KISS fan my whole life. This is an AWESOME collage of the KING of the six string! Super job! I finally got to see the 1996 reunion tour in New Orleans. They tore the Superdome apart that night. I cried when the show was over, cause I knew that was the best night of my life. I wish I could meet Ace.
NO ONE, AND I MEAN NO ONE OUTSIDE OF THE GREAT JIMMY PAGE LOOKED COOLER PLAYING A GUITAR THAN SPACE ACE FREHLEY.!! ACE FREHLEY IS THE REASON I PICKED UP A GUITAR! THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION ACE!
Ace has a style. Like it or not, he has a vibe that's his own, even though he plays a lot of cliches. Rock guitarists used to have swagger before the music became the over processed soul-less sounds that we hear today from some artists. Kiss was never my favorite band, but Ace Frehley is the best they ever had to offer as far as musical talent. He even influenced Van Halen with his two handed tapping. Many kids in the 70's 80's and 90's took up the guitar influenced by Kiss including Garth Brooks. He has what all great guitarists have. He is humble and I respect that.
It wasn't until about five months ago that I realized Ace has a style and sound that is hard to replicate. I love Tommy in the band, but he doesn't have the same "groove". Ace is a monster.
I used to be ashamed when I would mention Space Ace around my friends in 9ut music marathons of the day just smoking weed and drinking Jim beam they would bring up names like Angus, kirk , Randy , Eddie you guys get the picture. Now as I'm 51 in my life's journey I have realized every guitarist has their place in greatness and with Ace it was just Keith Richards inspired hard ass 8n your face Rock n Roll. And there is nothing wrong with that. Do you keep doing what you have been doing for 50 plus years. I salute you Mr Frehley , The Rock soldier on a rocket ride to the ozone while still keep his New York Groove.
For Christmas I got the kiss alive album when I was 12 and just come out… it was life-changing for a 12 year old back in the mid-70s.. it’s the reason I play the guitar now.. it’s the reason the whole neighborhood got guitars all of my Friends..probably 15 of us. We were all pretty close to the same age got us all into music… and till this day, whenever I talk to any of my old friends, music comes up in the conversation and some form or another
He is now my favorite exceeding page..he is the definining rock riff master ! Quadruplets and trills and thrills ..WHAT A EAR DEFINES THE NEWYORK SOUND
Ace might have not been the greatest technical guitarist but in KISS he was the greatest and really couldn’t be replaced where you could really enjoy the real KISS experience. 🎸🎸🎸
Met all 4 of them when I was 13 in ‘76 without makeup, the morning after the show in Indy. Gotta say Gene was the nicest followed by Paul. Ace was all F’d up but he signed my dollar bill. Peter didn’t want to sign it but his wife made him😮
I am 48, I play guitar since I was 12, and that was because of Ace (who I listened since I was 8 because of my big brother) This is a good example of a bunch of his best solos, but he is not in his best moment as a performer here. I encourage everyone to listen to "Alive!" and "Aive II" to really understand the great rock and roll guitarist Ace is.... Is important to understand not aonly that he is playing the solos, but he COMPOSED this great music...
I love ace because he literally doesn't know what any guitar move is called. He just shreds, which is how the guitar should be, nothing in-depth, just shredding.
Wow, a r tompkins! Look how many people showed up ta call ya a dick! That's how you know which guitarists changed things for people. I could care less how technically brilliant Ace was. When I caught a piece of his cape in 1980 at the Forum after he tore it up and threw it in the crowd, and saw his guitar fly off into the air, I wanted to do something magical on a stage just like that. When I heard him solo in Getaway, and that intro to Rock Bottom, I picked up a guitar and swore I'd sound like that someday. I'm still playing and loving it today. I've been in bands and been looked at like I was doing magic on a stage. I'm teaching my daughter how to play and seeing her face when she does jangly eye watering loud strumming and I never get tired of it. That's what he did for me, and not that there were a lot of other guitarists who I loved listening to and still do to this day, when I drove by the Viper Room one day a few years ago and saw his name up, nothing had changed. It was still a show I had to be at. I will always love Ace for inspiring me and for all the great music he was a part of, so go suck on a lemon!
The thing about KISS, was the live show....vids do it no justice at all. They were so damn loud live that you couldn't help but get sucked in. I was never a KISS fan but a friend made me go to an ACE show and it was awesome.
I feel, like the members of kiss were seen as more of models, but I feel like they all were a little bit underrated on how good they were with their instruments, especially ace
Ace was so much faster and tighter in the early 70s,he was untouchable back then in terms of creativity ...sadly,his paying on these reunion shows is nowhere near his past.Oh well still Love Ace forever!
Yeah ya know, it`s really interesting seeing Ace, do his thing ... That being said, can`t help but notice, how much he was inspired by "Jimmy Page" .. Only difference is this .. Jimmy Page, makes Ace Frehley, look like a "Kindergarten Student"
Walter Mirren nice job completely missing the point of Jimmy's playing. attitude > technical ability. watch the "The Rain Song" from The Song Remains The Same and tell me that's fumble fingers. some of the most intricate, beautiful playing of all time. get a clue kiddo.
GamezOf War That has to be the dumbest most ridiculous comment I’ve ever read, “Ace was so such faster and tighter in the 70’s.” Well guess what dip-shit, so was your mother! It’s called being young, see there’s this thing that happens to human beings as they age. They start getting a little slower and a bit loose and aren’t as perfect as they were in their younger years. You’ll see when it happens to you if it already hasn’t, but judging by your stupid comment it already has.
Love watching bands back in the day without a million explosions crazy tricks plus every gimmick in the world overshadowing the songs. Just musicians their instruments can lighting and Marshal amps and speakers stacked to the roof. ROCK ~N~ ROLL
His stuff was super simple and easy to learn and play to me but to me that's what's great about good rock. The simple stuff is the best to me the complicated stuff can be hit or miss. Although Page was the shit in my opinion if we have to go there. Ace is my favorite Kiss member I have to also admit.
You'll hardly see Ace make a top 20 list of guitarists made by music snobs but I'd easily rank him among the best. The string bending and vibrato is amazing

Great and very influential player . His bends were fantastic, whipping.
Ace was always my Favorite member of the group growing up!
Ace was the secret ingredient in the KISS sound, None of the guys who followed ever captured his vibe; even though they were all great in their own way, they never added the Space Ace vibe!
Great video, thanks for posting!
I dont play guitar myself but man I wish I had his talent I love Ace so much , such a unique guitar player !
I love his tone and his playing and he fucken rocks. He knows what he’s doing. Wish I coulda seen him then. Slings that axe like its nuthin
I was at that show, the Melvins opened for Kiss, and most of the audience were douchebags, they booed the Melvins
Ya it was a great reunion show!!The superdome used to have a lot of Great classic rock and metal shows!! WHO DAT!
now ur 53, granpa
space ace was the coolist guitarist in the 70s
WE❤♠FREHLEY FROM💋BAND OR ANY BAND!
cool stuff!!!!
thanx for this video showing fans that♠was & is a phenomenal gitar player with his unique look & great costume in the great💋band.
Maria L. Rapaglia wtf are you on drugs? seem a little heavy there buddy
@above--utube employees making comments at people that are annonymously dumb, & get paid to do it too!
Ace Knows how to make a service to the music. Personality, style, energy, good feeling and groove!!!
Long live the legend!
NO ONE, AND I MEAN NO ONE OUTSIDE OF THE GREAT JIMMY PAGE LOOKED COOLER PLAYING A GUITAR THAN SPACE ACE FREHLEY.!! ACE FREHLEY IS THE REASON I PICKED UP A GUITAR! THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION ACE!
His best solo was easily on the original Black Diamond. It was really dramatic and dark.Really set the atmosphere for that track.
Thank you
It wasn't until about five months ago that I realized Ace has a style and sound that is hard to replicate. I love Tommy in the band, but he doesn't have the same "groove". Ace is a monster.
Strutter is what got me into KISS.
Seriously, who was playing this before Ace? How many guitars did this dude get sold? Holy shit.
Garth Brooks...come on dude. Jeez ace sucks but damn dont belittle him like that
Ace accomplished something that's not so easy. He developed an instantly recognizable sound that millions love.
We were all pretty close to the same age got us all into music… and till this day, whenever I talk to any of my old friends, music comes up in the conversation and some form or another
He is an amazing guitarist and so underrated!
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
Just the right speed! love that style.
Me encanta como toca Ace Frehley un genio total !!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I love watching and listening to guitar solos it’s so satisfying to see the way they play that guitar!
He is now my favorite exceeding page..he is the definining rock riff master ! Quadruplets and trills and thrills ..WHAT A EAR DEFINES THE NEWYORK SOUND
I know this is about Ace but I couldn't help but notice how heavy and thundering Peter's drumming is.
Ace is and always has been one of my heroes.
Peter didn’t want to sign it but his wife made him😮
Ace Was The Coolest Member, In My Humble Opinion 😊
Hands down the most underrated guitarist of his generation. Ace is the missing link between Jimmy Page & Eddie Van Halen.
yup
so is Michael Schenker and David Gilmour....Ace never gets his credit though.
billwun q
Missing dink.
Paul Rosenberg 😄😄😄
Shock Me will always be my favorite! :D
Ace may not be the best but he's the coolest and as a kid in the 70's seeing him on TV playing was mind blowing.
12 yrs old. In 76 medfor d oregon and miss ruled 👑
He did have a unique sound gotta give him that..
please explain how ace wasn't the best?
herbankidd because guys like Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Robert Johnson, BB, etc all existed. Ace is great. But he can’t touch the heavyweights
Hands down he is the best, to this day he is the only one that could make rockets shoot out of his guitar
Ace is the reason I started playing in 1977. Still playing.
I am 48, I play guitar since I was 12, and that was because of Ace (who I listened since I was 8 because of my big brother)
This is a good example of a bunch of his best solos, but he is not in his best moment as a performer here. I encourage everyone to listen to "Alive!" and "Aive II" to really understand the great rock and roll guitarist Ace is....
Is important to understand not aonly that he is playing the solos, but he COMPOSED this great music...
In his day, nobody was better. He really is a living legend.
Van Halen? Brian May? Andrew Latimer? David Gilmour?
I love ace because he literally doesn't know what any guitar move is called. He just shreds, which is how the guitar should be, nothing in-depth, just shredding.
Are there more tech proficient players...absolutely a dime a dozen...but only one Ace!! You can only be an original once.
Ace frehley and angus young inspired me to even try a guitar! love you guys.
Thx man !!! This sounds great and Ace takes a lot of flak lately but this kicks asss Ace is on point rippn out those memorable licks !!
ACE IS A TRUE GUITAR GOD!!!!!!!👽👽👽👽👽👽
He's always been a favorite of mine. Not enough credit given to him.
Idgaf about a million notes per second this guy has the coolest riffs and solos ACE IS KING
Love him right from the beginning. Philadelphia USA
Ace and Peter made the band that is today or any year so no one will never replace them at all
The thing about KISS, was the live show....vids do it no justice at all. They were so damn loud live that you couldn't help but get sucked in. I was never a KISS fan but a friend made me go to an ACE show and it was awesome.
These might be his best solos but they sure aren't the best versions.
Love Ace!
He made me want to learn how to play.
Thanks Ace!
Ace has been the model of consistency for me over the years . Every single time my favorite part of when he solos is when its over .
I feel, like the members of kiss were seen as more of models, but I feel like they all were a little bit underrated on how good they were with their instruments, especially ace
my favourite Ace solo is on Speeding Back To My Baby
vinnie vincent...the Ankh Warrior!
Ace was so much faster and tighter in the early 70s,he was untouchable back then in terms of creativity ...sadly,his paying on these reunion shows is nowhere near his past.Oh well still
Love Ace forever!
Yeah ya know, it`s really interesting seeing Ace, do his thing ... That being said, can`t help but notice, how much he was inspired by "Jimmy Page" .. Only difference is this .. Jimmy Page, makes Ace Frehley, look like a "Kindergarten Student"
jamminjoe44 Jimmy Page was an incompetant fumble fingers live. In the studio he was a genius - on stage - just noise and irrelevance
Walter Mirren nice job completely missing the point of Jimmy's playing. attitude > technical ability. watch the "The Rain Song" from The Song Remains The Same and tell me that's fumble fingers. some of the most intricate, beautiful playing of all time. get a clue kiddo.
don't forget those shows were produced like shit, lets thank Thayer for that.
Ace is the best i knew it in the 1970's and i know it today he is one of a kind
Love watching bands back in the day without a million explosions crazy tricks plus every gimmick in the world overshadowing the songs. Just musicians their instruments can lighting and Marshal amps and speakers stacked to the roof. ROCK ~N~ ROLL
He can do what ever he wants
Ace es mi Heroe.
I love Frehley....
Kiss.
Ace Frehley, a natural, instinctive lead guitarist genius ! 🎸
Early Ace is the reason he is a rock legend! He had soul!
Ace was realy one of the best guitarist
I love him so much
That strength in his vibrato was just a giving plus he just kicks it up a notch higher.
We need to appreciate this man before it's to late he was amazing
