YEP!

Ace is the reason I learned to play guitar!! He’s a Great Guitarist!! No lock or tricks!! Just a straight out Guitarist which is better to me!!
Truth!
Amazing job. Ace was brilliant, almost dirty and raw, but SO memorable. I could go 100 years without hearing his solos and still remember them. Shock Me is my fave.
I could go 100,000 years...
You're right, Ace was brilliant. Criminally forgotten about now, but a big part of my guitar education growing up.
Dirty?? Sorry wrong

Ace crafted brilliant, unique, explosive and memorable solos that fit the songs, without aimless "noodling" and unnecessary notes. Instantly recognizable.
Exactly! It wasn't about doing the longest or most difficult solo. It was one that actually sounded great and made every song better. Who wants to listen to a 5 minute solo of crap? Not me. But I could listen to Ace all day long!
@@KatieLiberty what's a recorded example of a five minute solo of crap? Every solo Ive ever heard seemed necessary and interesting.
@@joejones9520 Look up Speedball Jam by Vinnie Vincent. Except it's much longer than 5 minutes
Yes! His solos took the songs to other levels. I would play air guitar to the solos…make Ace faces…who didn’t? And I’m a drummer!
@@KISStributeNYC97Another drummer here mate and I do exactly the same as you 😀
This is why Ace has inspired so many musicians to play an instrument!!
Ace Frehley: original Guitar Hero
Yuh
Mejor cover del estilo de Ace que he escuchado, que Monstro, Ace is tha Man!
No Ace, No Peter No Kiss. They were the heart and soul.
You rock dude!!!
I'm not a musician . All I know is all of Ace's guitar playing and solos had great melody. They always fit the songs perfectly and improved on it.
You are a true aficionado! Ace knows how to build a solo, when to be melodic, when to rip and he always had a bluesy quality. But the main thing is fitting the solo to the song, the chord changes. You get it!
I'm a musician, with a degree, and you're exactly right. melodic, always fit the song perfectly, and you could whistle them, well, bits of them.
Ive never heard a solo that didnt fit a song perfectly and improve on it.
Its just make it more mind blowing that he didnt take a single guitar lesson. He just improvises by ear
It’s like a tasty classic rock licks seminar. All Ace solos are bluesy AF and have great feel. This guy is great playing these. Really makes you appreciate Aces work. I always really enjoyed Aces singing and his songs. They were unique and didn’t sound like everyone else. Rocket Ride is awesome.
Amen. I have spent a small fortune buying guitars for the last 40 years because of Ace and Jimmy and Stevie Ray and many others.
Well said.
Black Diamond is a masterpiece.
That song rocks hard!
i believe the makeup really hindered that albums' success. deuce, strutter, firehouse, cold gin, black diamond. some of their best live material is on the first album. too bad for those that didnt take a listen, they missed out on a great album.
His most tasteful solo IMHO. I still remember when I was kid staying up late to watch them on tv (pre MTV). They played Black Diamond, smoke from the guitar and all.
@@sicfrynut you make a good point..those songs, especially live are all classics and have stood the test of time.
@@studio-flash just to clarify, obviously the makeup had its purpose, but i can imagine that uptight music reviewers probably saw the makeup and dismissed them as a carnival act instead of taking a listen. the first 3 albums all seem to have more emotional input from the band on every track whereas starting with destroyer it starts getting lost (detroit rock city is a classic) while flaming youth and shout it out loud were trying to recapture the ingenuity of rock n roll all nite. again, i loved the makeup and the characters, i think some stick in the muds though otherwise though.
Ace may not have been a virtuoso, but his solos are memorable, always serve the song, and he has his own style. Hearing these leads played by someone with great technique is awesome.
Actually, I would consider Ace a virtuoso for those facts you mentioned. His solo's blended very good with the structure of the songs. Definition of Virtuoso is "person highly skilled in music, and Ace was very skilled, Sure, He's not a shredder, But being a shredder does not define a musician, and surely doesn't define a virtuoso
You can always tell when Ace plays a solo.
Not so much with today's shredders, though. Ace was an ace, (pun intended).
You clearly don't play the instrument. I like Kiss, but if you think they are virtuosos you're just ignorant about music or stupid.
Same for Slash
Best solos ever! Alive has some of Aces best work!!
People don't know how many fucking legends ace influenced! Ace tone and attitude is what makes him special.
Ace rocksss!!!!
Tom Morello, John 5, Andreas Kisser, DIMEBAG DARRELL, and a big etc!!!! They could not exist without Ace!! They have said it themselves and they always say it!
I think most kids in America growing up wanted to be Ace Frehley or Joe Perry, in the UK it was Jimmy Page or Ritchie Blackmore....Im English and always wanted to be Ace!!
Lenny kravitz too
@@markjackson8261 it's kinda weird that I'm American and have always wanted to be Richie Blackmore, Toni Iommi, and Glenn Tipton.
Ace is the most unappreciated guitar players ever.
After all these years I finally understand Ace’s playing.
It wasn’t really his technique.
He simply felt what he was playing.
He played to people.
Not at them.
Yep. Man had the feel down pat. And pretty damn good technique for a guy that learned guitar in the late 60s.
“...played to people. Not at them” is possibly the best description of Ace’s approach to soloing ever.
Man, don't you tell a legend! He played blues patterns in the pentatonis scale, a little disrupted, that's all! No messias, sorry!
Yeah, exactly! A great lead guitar player plays solos that sound great. And Ace's solos do sound great. Sure there are and there were a lot faster and more technically advanced players aound. But how does that matter? They don't out the Nobel price in litterature to an author because he or she can type type really, really fast. The give to authors who's got something profound to say.
@@EddieLlamas yeah I have to write that down. awesomeness.
"Ace - he was the heart and soul of KISS" - Eddie Kramer. Any questions?
Nope you said it all
Man, I respect him and I like him as a guitarist. He s the original spaceman and deserves his place in rock n roll hall of fame. But if you think he was the soul of kiss, then..you re wrong. Everybody in kiss was important; just think about the band, it wouldnt exist without Paul s amazing voice, gene s bass and even singing skills or Peter s drum abilities.
Count Von D he was definitely good but I think Bruce Kulick was better (my opinion)
@@benn_bazaa well for kiss in the roots of what kiss is, meaning aside from alot of the 80s stuff, ace is the perfect guy for the job but skill wise there's tons of people with alot more knowledge I mean Vinnie Vincent was a full on fuckin shredder and that was the problem, that didn't fit kiss
Bullshit in the alive 2 was bob kulick playing all the solos that album was recorded in a studio bob do a lot if solos for kiss as a ghost player
"Bravo and thank you Ignacio for reminding us that Ace Space Frehley is a fantastic guitarist with incredible feeling, in short Ace Frehley is an
original and unique guitarist"
Ace Frehley the self taught guitarist is one of the most underrated guitar players ever!
The tone is so great it sounds so much like the original recordings
Using a similar Gibson guitar. It's interesting Angus Young and Tony Iommi both used SGs but different styles etc.
The tone here is great. Clear and clean.
The live sessions were Ace...studio recordings were done by Bob Kulick which Ace openly admits
@@raulrodriguez5073 Some, not all. Smfh

My God, 100,000 Years is just a perfect solo. It brings back so many memories and emotions every time I hear it.
Ace was the true sound of kiss
Ace was and still is my guitar God. He's the reason I learned guitar and some of my solos on my albums actually sounds like his style. But Ace is unique and no one will make solos like him again. He IS rock n roll roll.
If these freakin blistering balls out “ turn the Marshall up to ten “ solos were played by Clapton or Page or Hendrix they would be heralded as the GREATEST ROCK SOLOS OF ALL TIME . PERIOD . Thank you for sharing and great playing my friend . Johnny G
Wow! The best interpretation of Ace I have ever heard. I can always hear the difference between Ace & Tommy in a second, but I probably couldn't distinguish your solos from Ace's original solos. Fantastic!
Mr I couldn’t agree more!
I'll second that WOW ! Even though I was born in 1992 I've been a fan of Ace' since I was 10. One of the best lead guitarists of all time. One thing's for sure he was the best lead KISS ever had.
Awesome job!
I agree
@theh1n1shot No we're not deaf. Whether he was perfect at everything or not it seems like your personal reason to hear this video is to look for mistakes more then just enjoy the video. Common problem that all haters have.
Ace's solos have a touch of Jimi in all of them.. Ace is one of the greatest hands down. This young man does Ace justice to a tee. Absolutely blown away!
I grew up with Ace’s solos. They are so stuck in my mind from hearing them 4 million times. You have definitely done them justice. Thanks for the awesome video.
I know exactly what you mean. I haven't heard these in 40 years, these in 40 years, and I can come along to every single lick

I'm a Kiss fan who tries to play guitar and just happen to have found your video.
He captures the Ace Groove and Tone beautifully. Much more than Tommy Thayer does
Tommy can play the notes, but has no soul with his playing. This is the closest I’ve heard to it
Ya mean the guy that used to get Ace his food orders?
@@chrispraz5198 nah I know him more as the guy that had to teach ace how to play his own solos 😂😂😂
Tommy punches a time clock.
@@picklesmcmillan217 He does, but what a check he gets.
Finally, a true Kiss fan highlighting one of the few assets they foolishly took for granted.
Black diamond for me is the guitar solo that really has it all ,just close your eyes and breathe it in classic 💯👏
How can 80 people give this guy a thumbs down? That was some really good playing and the tone of the guitar ripped my face off. Im 54 years old and been a KISS fan since day ! and he nailed the solos from what I could tell. My favorite Ace solo is from Strange Ways. You Kiss fans know what Im talking about. Peace!
Strange ways , God of thunder, Callling Dr. Love, amo esos solos.
It's Tommy Thayer and Bruce Kulick and Vinnie Vincent on multiple accounts.
bloody close to aces tone.. really close..
There all Tommy's fans.
Probably kids that listen to bar chord pop shit
Now I remember why my world revolved around Kiss when I was a boy in the 70s! Thank you for reminding me! When you played "Rocket Ride" I almost pulled a facial muscle from the smile it brought me.
Ace has always been my favorite KISS member. His guitar playing kept me going!
LOL! I forgot to say you are very, very good at playing his style!
Wow! There's a reason why so very many guitarists today still are still in awe of Ace Frehley's work. It comes from the heart.
Without Ace, there would be no KISS. They became famous with Ace. Not anyone else. His guitar work was and is KISS.
true. but he is no longer capable of playing them
@@georges8200 Ace is still putting out great albums
@@spaceace5621 i dont disagree at all . But he literall cannot play the kiss solos anymore. not physically and not from memory for sure. hey we all get older. I think Ace is great still
What always bugged me was how during Ace's solos, the cameras would always stay on Gene and Paul. Guitar solos are about the lead guitarist, not 2 narcissistic jerkoffs who can't handle anyone else getting any camera time.
@@spaceace5621 god gave him one talent. Playing guitar. He can't sing for shit. He albums suck.
*A)* I know every single note of each of these songs since I was 9 years old.
*B)* I can not tell the difference between your solos and Ace Frehleys. Flawless.
Get your hearing checked.
Captured most note for note. Makin Love solo was the only one with a number of variations. Was that the studio version?
I watched this two years ago and it’s even better the second time around. Expertly done! He really used bends and pull offs masterfully.
Ace is one of the very few lead guitarists who’s every note of a solo is memorable.
Maybe I'm just too old school but idk.. Ace's solos had so much feel and soul to them that i chose them over modern rock and metal solos any day. Shredders are awesome and i love metal but bro, these solos are the tits and you sir played them too the best I've heard so far 🤘🏼🤙🏼
I was born in 2004. My dad was a huge fan of kiss and I learned guitar because of them then I know almost every song. Kiss is life. It’s wayyyy better than today’s stuff. Old school is actually filled with feels and not just a bunch of people being high and making music.
Heard a kid nailing Ace solos at Guitar Center last weekend. He said Ace is his #1 and all of his buddies love Ace. 16 year old kid. Gives me hope! Fan myself since '76 and Ace blows me away more and more the older I get.
Love' Em Leave En , is a hard solo to play ! Rocket Ride is hard too . Love Gun is medium , Ace have some easy solos , but have hard solos too . Shock me is hard to play with this clean note per note , like Nacho plays . Great job , by the way . It's very hard to play perfect like him ...
All a solo needs to do is make the guitar sing, the technicality of it shouldn't matter, it's music not sports. Most of those flashy solos, sure they're cool and take a lot of skill to pull off, but a lot of times they lose they're swing and seem to take away more from a song then they add.
The faster you play notes, the harder it is to put any dynamics and inflection into them. Guys who make solos on fire, aren’t playing the fastest, and choose their fast played notes wisely. Randy Rhoads was perhaps the fastest player that could manage inflection and feel into the flurry of notes he played. Everyone else that plays at that speed or faster is just a shredder
Aces work on those kiss albums are awesome no one plays like Ace
Ace was a major talent, too bad he never progressed because of laziness.

Love it! Ace played with feel. May not have been the most technical guitarist out there, but he was one of the most influential and he definitely shined in KISS.
Calling Dr Loves solo has always been my favorite Ace solo it’s got so much feel behind it
Love Gun and Black Diamond are favs for me. Ace is under-rated.
But the drugs and alcohol killed his career
Ace his solo on the 1975 live performance of black diamond hits different man
Glad to actually see rocket ride for once. One of Aces most under appreciated songs
My favourite although all of his songs are awesome.
Rocket Ride was done by Bob Kulick...... he was the “ghost” guitar player on the studio side of Alive II.
Arnie Alexander Nope, Rocket Ride was written and played entirely by Ace. Bob Kulick played solos on the other songs but RR is pure Ace. Check your facts before spreading nonsense, you are like Fox News lol.
@@martingimenez339 Well, you could be right......but so could I. The thing is w Kiss, there's so much smoke and mirrors that it's almost impossible to know what's true or not unless you were actually in the room - which I doubt you were. So many ghost musicians..... So where's your facts?? Your last sentence shows me all I need to know about you so, good day sir......peace.
Arnie Alexander Rocket Ride is pure Ace Im telling you. I met their stage sound engineer in the 90's a guy named Tony Pieras and we spoke a TON about KISS and ghosts players. But Rocket Ride is something Ace came out with and it was almost finished with his solo and all, and Anton Fig plays drums in the song. He also told me Gene barely played in most 90's albums (the bass tachnician plays). Plus if you are an Ace fan you know when he is playing and his fingers are moving. He has his peculiarities as a guitar player. I've been a fan for more than 40 years.
And he played all those great licks while bending over backwards and rocking back and forth, going up and down stairs and dodging flash pots.
Ignacio Torres is an incredibly great electric guitar player just Amazing and a True KISS fan %100 no doubt. Fukn Amazing to play just like the Great Ace Frehley in his prime. 👏

Somehow Ace soaked up Hendrix attitude, these solos are the birth of a new sound. Bravo 👏
there was never a lead guitarist in rock music whose style fit the songs better than Ace.such a huge influence on players from the 70s/80s along with EVH and others
Ace always had incredibly tasteful solos, heavily relying on feel not speed, and he made some unforgettable solos.
"Parasite" and "100,000 Years" alone gets Ace in the rock and roll solo hall of fame. Two perfect guitar solos! SOOO much attitude and swagger!
Wow amazing guitar playing Paul and gene should've called you for the spaceman gig you play more like ace . ace would be proud. You nailed all of these solos . and the bruce solo video as well amazing
Now that's how you rip Ace solos, with integrity and accuracy!! I don't think Ace even played them anything close to the actual recordings. Excellent job bro 👍
Might be because Ace didn't play the studio recordings. He had to learn some to take it on the road because they had studio musicians at times.
What I like about KISS songs is that they don’t overplay them. And if the song don’t require a solo, then it didn’t have a solo. They might have some jamming during their earlier period, but they always put the song first. And Ace have a genius approach to his solos in the songs.
What always bugged me was how during Ace's solos, the cameras would always stay on Gene and Paul. Guitar solos are about the lead guitarist, not 2 narcissistic jerkoffs who can't handle anyone else getting any camera time. Great job - you nailed Ace - he'd be proud of you!!!

My older cousins turned me on to KISS ALIVE and i was hooked!
Every one of these solos was woven into my teenage air-guitar playing brain in the 70s.
Kudos! Ace has had a huge impact on my playing as well. His attitude and attack really pushed those early Kiss albums. Very well done
You're right. Ace wasn't technically daring, but he knew how to make that pentatonic scale sing in Kiss songs. He was the right man at the right time.
Ace was the greatest guitar recruiter of all time! Iconic look and sound!
Ace solo's were always ones you can hum in your head.
Why can't I give this more than only 1 "thumbs up"......it needs 100 ! Thank you !
A very good selection of some of Ace's best solos and exhibition of playing them. Bravo sir; your work is excellent. Ace, in his prime, remains my all-time favorite guitarist. Despite criticisms by other players and fans, Ace was incredible. Sure, he was not "technically" the greatest player. Nevertheless Ace was original, played with feeling and always with a sense of bravado especially from 1973 to 1978 and even parts of 79 (watch his live Dynasty Tour performances). Ace is too often forgotten in discussions of "greatest guitarists of all-time." For KISS in those days he was perfect. I would like to have seen some solos from some of Ace's records such as Snowblind but there are so many to choose from even confining ourselves to the early studio and live KISS records. Thanks for posting this!
ACE FREHLEY = GUITAR LEGEND. enough said.
I’ve been an ace frehley fan since 75 when I first heard about kiss I was in the third grade a year later my dad bought me a guitar and I would play it all day when I wasn’t in school. Ace freely in my opinion is one of the most underrated guitar players in rock ‘n’ roll he is no Jimi Hendrix but his style of playing grabs your attention and makes you want to see and hear what’s going on. It’s a shame how the band miss treated him but I will always be a Ace Frehley fan from the day I heard him to the day I die long live the spaceman
Excellent excellent and might I say EXCELLENT JOB!! You nailed Ace's tone and movements which are key ingredients to properly playing his solo's. I was wondering if you were going to do Strange Ways, no you didn't, but that's OK the ones you picked were all excellent examples of some of his great work. Ace is truly one of the most underrated guitar players in rock music. His solos are like singing but with the guitar and not just a bunch of notes played fast to show off how fast the player can move their fingers. Lol when the video first started to play I thought you were a younger Ace!
