In the first episode the sergeants risk court martials for Winters. In this episode Winters risks a court martial for his men. Band of brothers indeed.
If he’d been found guilty, punishment for disobeying a direct order in combat would have likely been severe. They were saving each other, and the only discussion is “Understand?” “Yes, sir”
Nahh, on the one hand, the NCOs actually risked a potential *execution* by firing squad (which was never gonna actually happen). But here, on the other, as a Battalion Commander, Winters, a favorite of Regiment was really only risking a reprimand from Sink if it ever got out he fudged his one Company's report, and nobody was about to start blabbing, as they were getting pulled off the line. Wouldn't have made the moment any less profound for the troops on that night, though.
Dick Winters! Now Major Winters, Definitely Looking out for his Men as Always! I can only imagine how Relieved 😅 Johnny Martin and the Boys were when Winters said , " Get a Full Night's sleep 💤" , and report that they were Unable to secure any Prisoners! Winters Rocks! 😎 And So does Nix for Writing up The Bogus Report! ✌️
Webster wasn't new to the group, having been with them since training in the US. However, he was injured in Holland and missed Bastogne, which is why the other guys didn't like him so much at the start of the episode. Webster was the soldier who gave the little Dutch boy the chocolate in episode 4.
Fun fact the real David Webster was welcomed back with open arms and lots of joy and rejoice. The company liked Webster very much. After all he was a tacoa original easy company member. But the director thought nthis reception from the remaining members of easy would make for better story. Which I agree was nice touch.
When you asked about land mines the soldiers of Easy were crawling under them. The cylinders tied to the barbed wire were Smi-35 land mines. Affectionately called "bouncing betties" because when triggered they bounce into the air about 1m and explode.
My favorite part is The Nod... from Lt. Jones to Webster at the end. If you look in earlier episodes, you'll see more of The Nod. Obviously, a guy thing, extending respect and good wishes.
You got it. You felt detached because both Webb and the new LT both felt detached from the group until the mission. Even though everyone knows how good the story telling and film-making is, they don't really know. You picked up on it.
If you are going to do The Pacific, don't forget about the third HBO war miniseries: Generation Kill, about the invasion of Iraq. I feel it's a bit underappreciated but totally worth it. for me it's my favourite of the three, it provides a really interesting contrast to the WWII miniseries.
I didn't mind Generation Kill, but I think it appeals a lot more to people who have served in the military than it does to those who haven't. As someone who hasn't served, I found it to be more or less boring. The bond between the soldiers doesnt feel like it's really there, as they never rwally seem to be tested. It fealt like I was watching a bunch of jacked up frat boys trying to kill time in the desert. It definitely didn't touch me in the way BoB or the Pacific did.
The "new" character is webster, hes been there the whole time in the backround like joe toy and others. Hes the one who took a bullet rushing the road with winters in 5 i believe it was? And the disconnect is intentional. The whole monolog is basically webster talking about how these guys have changed since he was last with them, and the last bit of "how can someone understand what a soldiers gone through" is even more of a nod to it because he shows up all pepped to see the guys, not knowing whats happened. Like every replacement has.
The steel M1 helmet would NOT protect you from a direct hit, it will go right through. They are for deflecting shrapnel and such. Today's ACH and ECH Kevlar helmets won't either. It will stop a pistol round perhaps. But I guess it all depends on the range and angle of the rifle round.
I read the Band of Brothers book and if I remeber correctly, the wounded soldier ended up dying because he had a piece a shrapnel from his grenade lodged in his brain.
Dear lady, once again you demonstrate why I love your reactions to this series. The intervals between your uploads always seem interminable. So get on it, and thanks.

Your reaction when Winters told them not to go is the very definition of a million dollar smile 😁
Underrated episode. 6 and 7 get all the love but this one is incredible too
There are very few television shows that I would actually consider life-changing.
This is one of them.

Yeah And For Some Reason Seemed More Realistic

Sure, I’d love to see your screenplay collection…:)
Get those tissues ready. Episode 9 is one of the greatest episodes of television. Ever.
Great reaction as always. Glad to be able to watch your reaction to this series, it's an all time great.
I wanted to see your reaction to the confrontation between Webster and Cobb. I guess I should be a patron and see the full reaction!
Tom Hanks even enlisted his own son in the War...
P.S.
Absolutely want to see the screenplay collection 👀

I just ran across your channel and I’m really glad I did. New sub 🍻
Tracer bullets are loaded one in every five bullets. So for every tracer bullets you see, there are four more bullets flying.
David Webster wasn’t new to the Company. He was wounded in the leg in Holland and wasn’t with them in Bastogne.

Please watch the pacific. It’s about the Japan side of the war.
What happened to episode 7?
It got blocked yesterday :(
I’m disputing it though so hopefully it’ll be back up soon!
Is there some reason we are looking at Andy through a periscope at the beginning and ending of this video? Great reaction by the way.
Lol yeah I just moved and my background/furniture isn't totally set up so I cropped the frame. I think I mentioned it briefly in my intro.

A screen righter, you play paintball, and give great reviews on movies. Is there anything you don't do?
Have you seen the movie Haywire?
It seems she is done reacting to films, much to my disappointment.
I haven’t seen it yet! More film reactions are coming this weekend 😉
what happen to 5 and 7
Episode 5 is still up but 7 was blocked due to copyright. I’m disputing it so crossing my fingers that it gets released!
