The cat I had from when I was 8 to 17 did that too. I remember sitting in my room crying and her walking up to me and nuzzling me. And how we’d communicate if she was actually at the door by running my fingers by the edge of it

Glad to see Siamese in the “meow” mix of affectionate breeds! Sometimes Siamese get a bum rap because they can be protective of their owners, and are discerning of strangers. But once accepted by meezers, then you are in for life! They have easily accepted our Dachshund puppy, Hildy as a member of the family!!!

Siamese also get a bum rap for one of their best qualities; their talking. Some actually complain about it! Siamese are a favorite breed yet, surprisingly only got a brief mention. They're affectionate and talkative but also one of the most intelligent and engaged breeds. Others that could have been mentioned are the Burmese - only mentioned as being part of the Tonkinese mix. Burmese are known as loving, playful and kitten-like throughout their lives. Turkish Angoras are a gorgeous, natural and ancient breed as well as smart and loving! In over 300 cat breeds, most are affectionate.
Note: ALL cats are trainable.
Note: Cats don't really exhibit "dog-like" or "puppy- like" behavior but are actually doing what comes naturally to... cats! We're a dog-centric culture and have had far less time domesticating cats so the references are understandable. However they're not really fair to cats as they usually refer to things we appreciate about dogs, such as greeting us at the door. Worn-out cat misconceptions should be put to rest; cats can be just as loving as dogs and greet their humans at the door. These behaviors are cat-like! Ancient cultures revered cats; recognized their value and even buried themselves with their cats, yet we still compare them to dogs when they do things we like! If dogs are man's best friend, I say cats have the potential to be our soul mates... if we let them.
I have a maine coon dog 😂 she loooves playing fetch and running around with her stick, when she isnt sleeping on me or watching her birds. She knows a handful of commands and is super social with everyone she meets. I am never alone - except when she is watching guests instead...

Hi the cat butler ! I have a blue point ragdoll. he is sweet and intelligent. We also have a big dog that is friend with the cat. They are funny together. When we go on holiday, our pets come with us🥰. they are with us all the time !

We had a Russian blue cross ragdoll. He was floopy and had long fur that shed very little, and we are now having to get used to shedding with our 9 month old and 13month old ragdolls! Russians have a double plush coat and Nuadha had a super floofy double plush coat. Combined with his raw diet that meant that people would always comment on how beautiful his coat was. I miss him so much. We a!so have a 6 year old Russian named Pangur, and he is incredibly demanding when he wants to be petted or held, our ragdolls are a lot more laid back and are happy to just sit next to you or on your lap. Pangur will bap you and climb on you until you hold him.

Had 2 Birmans for 20rys, can confirm they are very good natured cats and very very soft. They will drift after you from room to room like a fluffy cloud, they just love to be in a space with you. They also love to jump and watch their domain from a high spot.

I have 2 purebred ragdolls and they both follow me around, come to the door when we get home, stay close by in the same room I'm in but they are not affectionate at all. Both don't like being held too long, refuse to sit on laps, definitely don't sleep on the bed with me and prefer to chomp on hands when you try to pet their heads or under the chin for more than 4 seconds 😔
yeah it can sometimes be dependent on the individual ragdoll as well!

I own a Scottish fold (hence, my profile thumbnail lol), but he sure doesn't act like it quite a lot. I've had him when he was 4 months old, and he's 2 yrs and 9 months old now. While he does follow me or want to be in my presence all the time, he does not fancy himself as a lap cat, absolutely refuses to let me trim his nails or let me carry him in my arms for more than a few minutes. Which is weird because I've given him so much attention since he was a kitten. And he can be quite vocal at times, especially when he's ready to do #2 lol
I guess there is always exceptions based on the individual

My wife and I were a bit disappointed with how he turned out to be, considering she got him for me based on the traits/qualities you had pointed out in your video as to their personality, but doesn't mean I've loved him any less. He's my baby boy and I'd give my life for him in a heartbeat. Our cats are our children, and they deserve every bit of love and care as long as they live with us.

Im easily bias towards ragdolls hehe my Ezra sleeps with me and every morning I wake up to him snuggling close to me. He loves sleeping on my lap when I’m around and follows me around everywhere!🥺💖

Can you give us trips on Cat proofing a Christmas tree.
hey Kitty its quite tough! Real Christmas Tree are mildly toxic to cats, so you will have to go with a fake one. Be careful with the lighting setup. Your cat may bite the wire or get strangled in it. Maybe have the lights where the cat cannot reach. And be careful the ornaments are not too small for them to swallow. Hope that helps!
My Maine coon mix only likes, no demands attention when my domestic shorthair or anyone else is getting attention, he watches us go to the bathroom, he sits next to the litter box when his brother goes and he's always chilling in between the curtains when we shower

Norwegian Forest Cats - nothing else comes close.
Id like to point out from my own experience owning cats my entire life, both pure bred and moogy (mutt version of a cat), that I have found male cats are always more affectionate. Females are more aloof. But Ragdoll cats IMO are the most affectionate breed of cat. But thats just MHO.

@@lenn452 Wow really? Man, I have owned like 6 females and 5 males over my lifetime. 3 of the females were pure bred and so were 4 of the males and all the males seemed to be more affectionate. They always sought out affection when females would mostly do their own thing. They were still affectionate when you came to say hello and in the mornings before they eat or when they were in their perch but they certainly sought out affection allot less. Its the same for my mother’s cats too. All of her males were more affectionate. BUT i did have conflicting accounts when I spoke to certain people and what i found was that people who believed females were more affectionate usually only had one or the other at different times. Like they first owned a male cat by itself and after that one passed they got a female. For me, I only ever owned cats as pairs or more. Never had just one cat by itself. So that may factor in. Actually, I think that may have allot to do with it because I can remember reading study somewhere that says female cats will often act different when grouped together with other cats. Pointing out they will have almost totally different personalities when they are alone. Males less so. So their personalities could be totally different when owned singularly and I just never had that experience.
That all being said, I am a Ragdoll fan. I have two ragdoll kittens right now. Well only is about to have her first birthday on Christmas. She was a Christmas baby. LoL. I also love Balinese and think they should have been on this list. A Balinese is basically a Siamese cat with long silky soft fur. Actually before they became accredited as its own breed they were known as Silk Haired Siamese. I know you didn’t ask but this is a cat video about affectionate cat breeds. 😀
@@desertegle40cal yeah well in my exp both are affectionate if the ppl owning them don't hurt them/do things cats don't like. I noticed tho that male cats got annoyed more easily and kind of storm off on you ?? if that makes sense 😅 no big differences overall so
birman cats are way more affectionate. they suffer more than other cat breeds when they are alone only with you and you are gone. reputable birman cat breeders in europe never give one kitten away (only if the new owners already have at least one cat). if you don‘t have cats, you MUST take two. 4 hours gone from the house, one birman cat can‘t take it. they need a playfriend for distraction. also they get superb along with dogs.

I think burmese should be covered on their own. I got my from a reputable breeder and when I went to his house the kitties were super nuzzley. Burmese in general love to nuzzle

Doll face Persian smoked golden .Mine would sit in my lap all day and follows e everywhere.He is docile and sweet .he lets the neighbors kids dress hm and drag him around. I would love to get him, but he is 5years.and refuses to walk on a leash. He falls over. I end up taking him for a drag. I live in an apartment , one small assisted living apartment.That’s why I would like to take him for a walk.on the other hand he seems contentment in here so maybe it would be a mistake. Some advice to those looking for a pet not a show cat,get doll face Persians. They have a bend in their nose.but are much prettier.the total flat face are prone to a lot of respiratory problems. I paid $3,ooo. For mine and have never regretted a cent. He is the most lovable loyal,adorable baby you could ever have

Why doesn't anyone ever talk about the Nebelung cat? They are half Russian Blue, from what I can remember.... Mixed with maybe two other breeds. They are very dog like and a wonderful cat! They look similar to the Russian Blue because of it's coat, but the coat Is different lengths over different parts of their body. Thanks for the interesting video. I will look forward to something on the Nebelung cats.
I should show this to my mom. She says she can only get a Scottish fold because she has fobia but I think a Persian is better for us!
Hi there! Also in Europe AND esp. the national cat of France - the Chartreux: ancient and "looks" almost like a British short hair, the chartreux is a great breed esp. it's an excellent mouser! There are more birmans here then ragdolls - it's only about 15yrs ago that France is picking this breed up as well :) Are Teemo and Arya considered "cream" ragdolls? I am also considering chartreux here or birmans -- well, depends what my wife wants and/or my girls want haha!
Hey Charles I actually met a Chartreux! You can see it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/rJlOL77ikK0/v-deo.html. They are beautiful. Unfortunately Chartreux for some reason are really rare in America. Teemo and Arya are considered cream ragdolls. The color pattern is one of the rarer colors. But I love the color.

Shorthair :) We just got American shorthairs & wife got 2 1/2 Maine Coons in Seattle...Nice to know that you got T&A in the city where we're going this Summer :) Yeah T&A are creamier haha - rare indeed, my daughter wants a seal point or at least grey one and may be a bi-color...Will checkout the video, thx! But I haven't seen creams here in CH. Cheers! Would be cool if you try to show your cats?!! They do remind us to our poor late Turkish angora - such a good cat/pedigree breed...I see at least 75% of the traits in your cats!
Your cats Teemo and Arya are the cutest cats in the world I think. Scottish folded have got the cutest face. My cat Willow is a Bombay, I am sure, not a pure breed but I am sure he comes from. The shiny black hair, with brown tabby hair on the bully when he was a Kitty, and the very sweet sound After a few days. Willow is a good buddy, every day he makes me a Big huggs. But my favorite is Minouche, an Angora cat, a soft ball of hair with the worst character in the world.

birman cats 100% best cat breed ever. in my honest opinion tho. they can look like ragdolls, but there are subtle differences. birmans are 100% dog like. they play fetch, they don‘t have to learn it, they greet you at your door and are like a shadow. if you want privacy it might not be your breed xD

3 of my cats are on this list persian, siamese & ragdoll. surprised the 4th isn't cuz he would be in my lap 24/7 if i let him, he is egyptian mau - not sure they are all like that or not but the other two i've owned were also cuddly. like this video, tfs
hey Crystaline I tried to make a list that was most consistently affectionate. I found some mixed opinions on Egyptian Mau so decided not to include it, but it could be your Egyptian Maus all really love you :D
@@TheCatButler true, i never seem to have problems even with problem cats. but then again the treat/treated my mate the same & he is not quite the cat person i am. 😁 i do not recommend them for multiple cat households, the maus tend to be extremely jealous & bossy with other cats, can't speak about dogs but they were always fine with my parrots so there is that. you have a great week & give your babies a kiss for me.
