I've walked the Camino multiple times and it's a great experience. It's a walk more than a hike. I've done lots of actual hiking in the US, and the two don't compare. Don't approach it like walking the Appalachian Trail. The Camino is basically about a month of long day walks on improved and unimproved surfaces, and you spend every night indoors, mostly in dorm type accommodations. It's not primitive nor austere. All that being said, pack light (you don't need more than 15-20 lbs of stuff in your pack and in the summer no more than 10-12 lbs), get in good walking shape before you attempt it.
@@VisualsByZack Yes, and you can also bring a small hanging solar panel for your pack if necessary, but it shouldn’t be since you won’t be on your device all day.
Danny Rodriguez Hey man, there's a goal to reach for! If you need any help or encouragement, feel free to message me. I've struggled with my weight throughout my life and it has been a struggle.
Colby Gardner Thank u Colby I'll definitely keep that in mind it's greatly appreciated. My weight issues started in my mid 20's I'm 36 now and I'm so tired of been overweight I can't take it no more. My doctor has recommended me for operation but my insurance won't cover it. So one again I'm a try and loose it through the way of working out.
Colby, late this May, I hope. I just have a 3-month break from work. Have to get my US passport renew asap. My two other high school classmates plan for early October. Should I go in early October or late May? I heard that it rains in May, Colby.
I posted your video on Facebook. Many of my friends love your video and now are interested in going. Thank you so much, Colby. You made a wonderful video.
That's great! Thank you for sharing! If you guys would like to go with my tour company, let me know. I will be the guide. I have taken groups of up to 12 people on the Camino. Visit www.GardnerTours.com for more info and know that anything can be customized.
It depends. Do you want to see wine harvest? That's in late August. It does rain/hail in May (I've walked it in May before), but it's not bad at all. Either way it's highly enjoyable.
Marion Nugent The first time, I walked about 2/3 before having to return for work, but I did go all the way to Santiago on a bus from Astorga. Everyone else got to finish. Some people we went with have gone back multiple times to hike week by week. I recommend all at once if you can afford the time. It's incredible. We are returning in July for the last two weeks of the Camino (Leon to Santiago) with a group, and and in September we go back for one week with a group (Sarria to Santiago). If you'd like to go with us, visit spain.gardnertours.com.
Hatteras Dunton We used a few different cameras. One was a GoPro 2, and the other two were old Sony camcorders (they were small). We are much farther along than that, but they worked well at the time!

Ppl realy Fuck up the history on the camino Lol “body was covered in shells” the Shell thing are to prof you bin to the cost befor the copostella was “made”
This video makes the camino look really lame. nothing religious about it. If you're not a believer, why would you do a christian pilgrimage? Might as well hike a trail somewhere. Way to dilute all the meaning and tradition until it's a generic self-help experience.
+Mateo I've walked the Camino more than once, and I walk during the less popular months (late winter, late fall). Yes, less places to stay and weather not as nice, but you do avoid the crowds, with their wannabe guru's, cannabis users, organized tours, self-help bunch, some that try and make it a Spanish version of the AT, etc. All those things that unfortunately give it a circus like atmosphere. When it's less crowded it's definitely more real, in the actual Christian pilgrimage sense.
+Mateo October-November a good time. Perfect weather, but chilly. Also February-March. Not so perfect weather, but way less pilgrims, and to some degree less albergues open, but they're there. Go to the official site for the pilgrim's office in Santiago. They have all the statistics by month and year. They base it on compostelas given. Research and decide. I know by November way less compostelas given.
The Camino was a life changing event for me. I sold my home in Texas and moved to Spain. I'm dedicated to the Camino for life.
That’s awesome! What part do you live in now?
That was beautiful. I’m walking this sept first time. ❤️
Donna Ferrarok You’re gonna love it! I was talking about it yesterday actually.

Thank you for the tips.
are there places to charge electronics?
@@VisualsByZack late reply..yes you can charge electronics everyday...at the hostel, bars, cafes, etc
Do the albergues provide blankets? Should I carry a sleeping bag in June?

Have you walked the Camino yet?
I made a promise to God that if he helps me to loose weight I would do the El Camino as my personal way of showing how greatful I am.
Danny Rodriguez It's such a great trip! When do you plan on going?
Colby Gardner
