Hank, I'm the Catholic priest you interview in 22:30. People from Denver to Romania have told me about seeing me on this, so I see it's getting the rounds. Most importantly, I remember meeting you on the Camino and I remember all your passion for this ancient pilgrimage that has moved us both. You did a great job on the video, from what I've seen of it so far. Congrats on all the many views. Hope to meet you again somewhere in the world. Buen Camino, amigo!
Hi, Dave! Great to hear from you! Yes, this Camino video has been seen by more people than I ever could have imagined. I had no idea. I remember meeting you too, and I really appreciate that you agreed to be interviewed for the video! Hopefully, we'll meet again, and I hope you've gotten a chance to take more young people on the Camino! It's a wonderful experience.
Every time I see this lovely video... I cry like a baby! Thank you Hank for the memories. I think I'm taking off on a third Camino, I miss it soo much! Susan ... Walking strong at 67!
Met my wife on the camino in 1984 and 33 years later We are still on our camino through life together, Best documentary on the camino ever and I hope you guys stay in touch.
dear Hank, it's Camilla. I don't really know if you remember me, I was one of the two walking with Ruben the guitarist. :) this video was a wonderful punch in my stomach ahah I lived for a second time so many memories. thank you... thank you. and say hi to amalia and that she has too keep on with the weird faces :) one super hug
Hi, Camilla! Great to hear from you! I definitely remember you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the film, and I'm happy it was able to bring back so many memories for you! Feel free to add me on FB, and maybe we'll meet again sometime. I'll let Amalie know! -Hank
This brings back so many memories. In October 2019 pre COVID I had competed the Camino De Santiago at age 15. It is probably my greatest achievement in my life so far
I hope Amalie sees this too; sometimes we go trough our whole life without finding the treasure the two of you found on the Camino. It was meant to be that you two meet there. That was so pure and genuine and beautiful; I honestly have no words. It doesn’t matter where the two of you are and how far you are from each other, the two of you belong together. Don’t waste this opportunity to share your happy self with somebody as special as Amalie. 🙏😍
Hello Hank...as I have an acquaintance, right now, ON the camino, I must say in 35 min, I felt as though I'd walked the Camino with you. Brilliant film, worthy of an Oscar for Short Film or Documentary (in my humble opinion). Thank you for not only a fantastic film and your narration, but for your foot suffering (trust me, I felt it vicariously as well). If you've not done Machu Picchu, THAT should be your next travelogue. All the best, Lance G
Yeah, a best friend (maybe partner?) on a magical journey is a great thing. Back in real life and years later he has a girlfriend in LA. If you look at more of his channel they've been on their own adventures.
Been recommending this video for everyone who has a transition period and it is lost in life. Every time I see this video, I have the feeling I want to do the Camino again - I've being doing many times already. This is most probably the best video about the Camino which shows the real essence of that and the connection with human being.
I walked The Camino in 2007, when I turned 50. Due to foot trouble, I was not able to finish, but I did get to Santiago and hug the saint. Thank you so much for this video, it brought back so many amazing memories, and I definitely want to go back. I will get there!
"I'am not sure if I believe in the transformational aspect of it" (1:55). Well Hank, just compare your face on the start and the end of your movie. What a beautiful movie!! Filled my eyes with tears. Reminds me of my own walk. And your story is beautiful in itself. Hope that you and Amalie find a way to share your life together. Thank you for making my day beautiful!
10:25 just made me realize how happy I am that I took the plunge and started a relationship on the camino, even though she's from the other side of the world. We're now 2 months from our 5th wedding anniversary and have the typical crazy life of a family with two kids.
My Cousin's are doing this journey on Sept 9th 2019 for all our family, friends & community in God! I bless them and all in their journey 💜! You journey was amazing & beautiful, I have lived vicariously thru your eyes as I am disabled and my journey will only be in my dreams.
We watched your excellent video with 16 other people. At the end of the video some were crying but all of us were speech less waiting for something that never came, something like “... and they live happily ever after...”. One of us said “I wish I could find my Amelia in the Camino, I won’t let her go”. Congratulations.
This was a very beautiful film! You totally inspired me. I felt your blisters, I missed Amelia too when you missed her, my toes got cold when you both touched that cold water and I almost cried when you reached the church AND the ocean! I know we don't know each other but I am so proud of the both of you!
Hank, I had an amazing experience watching this video. The video is over and these words of yours have stayed with me.... "It's very hard to let people go... I always wanted to say well if i am not going to see you for the rest of our lives, it was great meeting you in away that's kind of weird like you cannot say to someone you just met but you want to because you want to appreciate the people in the moment. Camino really forces you to appreciate people in the moment..."
Brilliant video! This made me think of my own Camino completed in Oct 2023. I miss it soo much and this brough back so many beautiful memories. Thank you
I am glad you said you a are not religious, but it is clear you have a faith. Religion is a club, faith lives in one's heart. You obviously 'felt' the Camino, you felt that wonderful presence and I have no doubt that your experience has changed your life. Now every day you will remember the beautiful peace you found on the Camino. The Camion doesn't end in Finistere, it begins. Now let God continue to walk with you and help you find what inside you feel is missing. The Peace of the Lord be with you.
i made the same way last year, it took me 30 days to santiago, only one blister, just using a normal new balance shoes, the weather was all season at the same time on every day, that was in april, and arrive at Finisterre at day number 32, and definitely i’m going to do it it again and again...the most amazing experience in my life
Wish I'd watched this before I walked it. You nailed it Hank. I walked with 25 blisters from day one and it almost crippled me. I really felt your pain. Thanks for being so open and honest emotionally. It really shows what a struggle all of us go thru when walking this journey. I was hoping for a happy ending with Amalie, love to you both.
Dear Hank - I'm 77 and a widower, with one replaced knee and the second strongly suggesting it too wants to leave my body. Thank you for this poignant and inspirational video. This is my third time watching it and for the last two, I was hoping for a different ending - that you and Amalie connected permanently. Maybe if you do, the North/South Camino route will be your honeymoon walk. Be well, and thank you again.
Walked all Galicia in 2022 (165km). A piece of advice on blisters.,.. please, do not that, don´t burst them or use a thread. Learned the bad way with a black and infected toe. Before starting the camino, buy "Compee" in a drugstore, that painlessly dry the blister, and also, buy Alcohol de Romero to massage your legs before going to bed. Beautiful video, brought memories and tears. I hope to go back soon. But this time, doing it completely. Thanks for sharing!
One of the best videos I have seen about the Camino. Many congratulations. I started walking on the 2nd June 2015. I am 64 and did it in CELEBRATION for a personal achievement. I have interpreted my very own dreams for 20 years and I am a different person! It was an amazing journey and I think EVERYONE SHOULD BE DOING IT....!
Dude.....I'm 70 yrs old....a spaniard (born in a town nearby the cruz de ferro) living in the US for the past 50+ yrs....I know this come a couple of yrs late (just found your video today ....(I live in Jacksonville.Fl.) and I really like your post....May the gods of the camino guide you and Amelia....to a happy ending.....
I was documenting myself about El Camino because I am going to do the French Way from Roncesvalles next May, and I have found this gem, so thank you Hank for having managed to capture in just over half an hour the essence of this genuine experience that is El Camino. I think that everyone should do at least once in their lives to connect with themselves, and find answers to important things from the simplicity of the route, stripped of almost everything, which brings out the essence of what we are as human beings, that somehow interconnects us all. What an example of transformation is observed in you, from the first days to the last, is inspiring for me, and makes me wish that the days that remain to do my own Camino will quickly weigh. Thanks again and God bless you Hank !! ❤
My Spanish 3 students are learning about El Camino and they absolutely loved this video. The overwhelming question was, "Did he ever speak to/see Amelie again??" Many have said it already, but you do a great job telling the story of your travels and transformation. Must watch some of your other treks!
I came here straight after having been disappointed by "The Way" starring Martin Sheen. This video is the first good one about the Camino I have seen. So thanks for creating it. Well done Sir! I am from Denmark myself. I walked half the Northern Camino in may 2016, and then all of Camino de Santiago in August 2016. I never went home again. Now I live in Leon with a spanish woman, and we have the world's most beautiful daugter. Our daugter is 10 months old.
I just watched this for the second time in a year and find it beautiful to watch how chemistry between you and Amalie was instantaneous. I certainly hope you still stay in touch and also that you found a way to be a couple...in the same country. El Camino was the perfect setting for your encounter. (I’m from SF and met a girl in Spain [Española], the first day I ever set foot in the country, 20 years ago next month, and felt the same way you felt about Amalie...you didn’t want to live without her and didn’t want the togetherness to end. Well, I’m very happy to say that we married, in Spain in 2005, and we live in SF. We will eventually retire in there and have agreed that [my] first order of business is to walk El Camino while she spends the time visiting with her mother) BUEN CAMINO!!!!!
Dear Hank, thank you so very much for this video! I walked the Camino in 2019 and, as I watched your film, found myself bursting into tears over and over. You perfectly highlighted so many of the spectacular moments (Cathedral in Burgos, Singing Nuns in Carrion, etc...). I experienced your video as a gift. Love and blessings to you! Ultreia!
Literally that view of the Atlantic Ocean from that coastal town of Finesterre is the end of the Old World (Europe)…looking out west to the Americas and the New World…and symbolically for many of the pilgrims on that epic journey meant leaving behind something that’s gotten old…and beginning something new. Enjoyed your video-thank you for sharing.
Dear Hank, I walked the Camino with my wife Lynn in May June this year (2017). Your film moved me deeply, thankyou for filming this. It was liked I walked the Camino again. The best Camino movie I have watched to date. Buen Camino
IT brings tears of joy and inspiración to my heart and essence. I need to make this pilgramage in the name of my mom and my brother who are no longer sharing this physical realm with us. I also need to do it for myself. I feel within my heart and soul that l must embark on this spiritual path in my not too distant future. My brother Danny always told me to follow my path! This is exactly what l intend to do! And in acheiving this intended trek, l will honor him for planting these seeds within me. I will also honor my mom for always believing in me. Blessings and good hunting to all of you who read this and intend to embark on this blessedly spiritual journey. GODSPEED 🙏🙏🙏
@@HankLeukart Thanks Hank! I love your videos, and l want to learn more from watching more of your videos. You seem to be very knowledgeable and encouraging about these types of endeavors. I have become a new follower and fan of your work. Please send me more. I hope to one day achieve some more of those hikes in different parts of the globe of the places you and your brother have covered. You cats are truly great! Thanks for the knowledge as well as encouragement. I also hope to one day have the good fortune of meeting you guys in person. Thank you most kindly! 👍👍👍
Hank, of all the UA-cam videos I've seen on the Camino, yours has best captured the experience of the pain of intense but fleeting friendships. Great work, and looking forward to more videos from you!
This is one of my favorite videos about the Camino, with awesome views, and the very special friendship of two young people. I also did the Camino some years ago together with my husband, it was a fantastic experience. I hope when this pandemic is over I will be able to go again under the stars, know these little ancient villages, meet so many people from all over the world, share your thoughts and experiences, to discover things you never thought they existed and to walk and walk with your heart filled with joy. Thank you Hank for sharing your story with us.
You did such a great job in carrying the story all the way through the video. Letting people go is part of the process of traveling and hiking. It makes us stronger and value people more while we enjoy their company.
Thank you Hank for taking us on your adventure. We have enjoyed coming along with you. We hope that the Camino has opened up a new path for you. A beautiful and moving video, well put together. Many blessing to you on your future adventures. It will be our turn in three weeks time as we are about to embark on the Camino. All the very best, cheers Joseph & Peter.
As I was watching, I'm thinking, 'Wow, the Camino hasn't changed a bit. It looks exactly like when my husband and I did it.' Then I saw your date...2015--same year we did it. We started April 20, 2015. We went back again in 2019 but only walked from Leon to Santiago. Great film that captures the feelings of the Camino!
so, at that point.... I don´t know if I like the most that INSPIRATIONAL music, that wonderful landscapes, your story with the girl or the editing for having me all the time of the video watching....what can I say... Congratulations because THAT´S the magic of El Camino, I am very glad you already know my country and the north with this magic story... Of course you will never be the same as before (take that for sure) but not because El Camino is over, The way NEVER is over, it will be always with you because YOU are El Camino, every pilgrim have its own experience because is not about walking or getting to several stages, El Camino is open your feelings, expose them and, for once in your life, sharing on real time (not with and IM app or in a Wall in Fb...you look directly to the eyes of the other person right by your side and share those precios moments so don´t be afraid, you´ll never finish El Camino... Congratulations Hank , hugs and lots of Love for you for sharing this piece of art and of course to Amalie because El Camino never stops living ....
Thank you Hank for this wonderful document of your Camino. I’m sitting here on a Saturday evening with tears in my eyes over how you manage to catch the feeling of you inner journey and meeting Amelia with such compassion. All the best to both of you. I’m planing to walk the Camino later this year and you have really inspired me. Many thanks. /Björn
I just walked the Camino, Your video was a huge insperation...Met amazing people/friends that I will never forget. Also, hardships like nothing before. Got a severe fracture in my left foot 1 week away from Santiago. Friends and family kept telling me to stop, to rest...but after nearly 4 weeks how could I stop? I hobbled on...and hobbled into Santiago on my own two feet...one nearly broken, but still...also???? I arrived in Santiago on MY BDAY!!!!!! September 5th 2019!!!! A Birthday I will never forget. Thank you Hank for sharing your adventure.
Hank...This was wonderful to see. I met a couple last July who has walked the Camino de Santiago and to see it via your video, made me want to experience it as well. This couple is a bit older and after this amazing experience, sold everything and moved to Mexico. The couple's wife said that walk changed the way she viewed life completely. Now I know why. Thank you.
Im from Texas and found this vid so motivating and awesome. You are a brave man for commiting this journey alone. Thank you so much for your effort on building this inspirational vid. i cant wait to start my camino in 2020
I am 65 and just retired as an International Flight Attendant of 40 years. Last week the Camino entered my stream of consciousness for the first time ever. And now I am going next September. This was a beautiful video, the first one that I have seen actually, and I want to thank you. It was touching and inspiring.
I have watched several Camino videos in the past 2 years and yours is the only one that made me cry. Come hell or high water, I will walk June 1, 2017. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this video and sharing it with us.
Hi, Toura! Great to hear from you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and I wish you the best of luck on your Camino next year! I can't wait to hear more about your experience!
Hank Leukart thanks for responding! I had to put off my trip due to a knee surgery but I have the "all clear" and will walk this September. I will be walking with an open mind and heart.
So lovely. I became tearful, then cried as I remember my own Camino. You capture the experience - the mundane, emotional, and spiritual aspects - so well. Buen Camino, Hank.
My gosh! This video is the best one I've seen about the Camino so far. I loved everything of it, the music is beautiful just like the camera shots. Your thoughts about it moved me because those are aspects of this journey everybody feels but nobody talks about. I also really enjoyed your storytelling and you falling in live with Aemilia, it is incredibly touching because it feels real. Thank you for this amazing video, I can't wait to leave for MY Camino in 16 days Best of luck for everything!
I want to say this here and now. I am crying and I don't know why. El camino has been an obssesion of mine since I can remember learning about it, but I know physically I can not do it. I have been to Compostela the easy way, by touring company and IT'S one of my most relished memories. My grandfather and uncle were named Santiago, the city were I was born name is Santiago, so, the connection is real. I have watched other documentaries and movies but this has moved me to tears. I feel the spiritual sense people get from el camino.
Hi, Ana! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video so much. I'm happy you've gotten to visit Santiago no matter how you got there -- it's a good experience just to visit the city. I know that some people who can't manage many weeks in one-go just hike one week and then do another week the next year. So that could be an option, even if you do it over many years. -Hank
breathtakingly beautiful video. Especially in these times when so much is going on in the world, it is so beautiful to see how people from all over the world can have the same goal and be so friendly with each other. We really enjoyed...
Oh man, I stumbled upon this and really enjoyed it. Actually, I feel really moved too. It seems that you two guys became close and it's a very lovely story. I wouldn't ever lose contact between you two. Thanks Hank, great little film!
Hank, All I can say is thank you for this video. I plan to do the pilgrimage in 2021 on one of the Jacobean years (yes I’m doing it for a religious reason). Watching this video I found myself smiling, laughing, and at one point feeling overwhelmed with a bit of sadness towards the end. Essentially I felt this whole video! Thank you again! This totally has me inspired and I really can’t wait to get on the Camino! Tell Amelia I said hi!
You really captured the heart of the Camino hank ... I did it last year before the corona virus and as soon as someone comes up with a vaccine .... I off immediately to do it again ..... It changed my life in a way I simply cannot describe.... I will never look on life in the same way after that experience.
es el mejor reportaje del Camino de Santiago que he visto... excelente visión "a pié ", narrativa entrañable, magnífica fotografía. Enhorabuena!.saludos desde Canarias
absolutely stunning video, you actually moved me to tears.. every second was just so beautiful, i really feel like you've captured the essence, the spirit, the true Camino so thank you for the inspiration.. i'm planning on walking the Camino next year, walking alone to free myself, to find myself and my truth.. your film has lifted my heart and my soul, thank you so much.. lots of love.. xxxxx
My Spanish teacher assigned this as homework and I can honestly say this is one of the only homework videos I've ever actually *liked*. The quality of the video, the storytelling, all of it was done incredibly well.
Fantastic travelogue and video, Hank. I will repeat almost every other viewer's remark: Your video is the best of the lot. So excellent, in fact, I can only wonder on which side of the bed those 58 thumbs downers awakened when they cast their votes. You capture rather deftly the stray moments of external anguish (blisters! tendinitis!), sure, but also the enduring internal joy experienced by all the pilgrims and of course by you. Difficult to notice the many but ephemeral woes when surrounded by such beauty as abounds on the Camino. That beauty, I think, has us all looking up and out, not down and in. You also are a generous filmmaker, allowing your new friends their own moment(s) to shine brightly. And none more so than Amalie. Her purity of spirit you mention comes through loud and clear repeatedly but especially when eating the donut (a GREAT sound effect you added, that choir of angels!), drinking the beer, missing the chocolate factory in Astorga, and climbing the pillar of rocks at Cruz de Ferro. THAT moment, when you segue from video to a still shot of Amalie looking up at the Iron Cross, is hauntingly beautiful, really REALLY well done. You should be proud of yourself. Gosh, not to seem weird but for the many many moments of beauty and grace Amalie adds to (my enjoyment of) your video, I am happy to buy her a lifetime Netflix subscription. :-) In fact, I want to pay YOU for the video you have obviously crafted with attention and love. Alas, I see no way to accomplish either objective. What, no tip jar? Anyway, your cinematography, editing, music, and monologue - with your fellow pilgrims and with us - have inspired this old fellow to break out his Merrells and do the Camino one more time. Thank you. Buen Camino -- on the Way and in Life! PS. You and I have swapped homes. I now am in Edmonds. (Thank you for the recommendation of Aqua Verde Cafe! :-) When I lived in LA and trained for my Camino, I would hike from Will Rogers, up and over the Backbone to Trippet Ranch, and then down Santa Ynez Canyon or Temescal to Sunset, where I would catch a bus back to Will Rogers and finally trudge up that street to the Park. Just like the Camino, with all the cars racing by. But the distance, inclines and declines, and time added up to perfect training.
Hi, David! Thanks for your especially kind review of my Camino video. I can't take credit for Amalie's bright spirit or for the Camino landscape, but I'll take credit for whining about my blisters! I'm thrilled the video has inspired you to do the Camino again: if you've already done the Camino Francés, you might consider the Camino Primitivo or the Camino del Norte for more challenging routes to Santiago. You might also consider some of the other amazing hikes in Europe, like the Tour du Mont Blanc or something even more wilderness-focused. If you'd like to contribute money to my future videos, you can go to my Patreon page: at www.patreon.com/hankle As for paying for Amalie's Netflix, I'm not sure about her position on that -- I'll have to discuss with her. :) I'll definitely check out your Santa Monica Backbone hike -- sounds fantastic! Ugh, I miss the Agua Verde Cafe so much!
After a week away, Hank, your gracious reply above serves as a nice welcome home for me. Thank you. And thank you for setting up the Patreon link; a good idea by you. I responded with a donation that I hope helps your efforts. A minor suggestion: Add some interactivity via a short list of possible destinations on which viewers and/or patrons can rank or vote. You will still go where you want to go. I like your suggestions for alternative treks. Did already Month Blanc and, in Nepal, the Annapurna Circuit, Mustang, and EBC. Other treks elsewhere as well. But now I am old and tired so the rigors of the Camino fit my need (and speed) just perfect. And everybody is just so darn friendly. Happy travels!
Hank, recently I bought Shirley MacLaine's book, "The Camino". Shortly after starting the book (literally, chapter 1), I wanted to check out the Camino on the net. Fortunately, I came across your video and honestly, one of the most enjoyable videos I've seen on UA-cam (and I've seen thousands of vid's on a myriad of subjects). THANK YOU for sharing your experience. Glad the blisters got better and you completed your walk to the sea. This looks like a must-do for me!
Thanks, Billy glad you liked it! I haven't read the book, but I remember talk about the wild Galician dogs from the book when we were walking through the towns before Cruz Ferro. Maybe I should check out the book.
You know...I've seen tons of Camino videos but yours is the most sincere and moving. I've done Frances 1x and Portugues 2x. This just makes me wanna go back right now.
Decir que me ha encantado ver vuestra aventura, he recorrido el Camino de Santiago en varias ocasiones y siempre que puedo, vuelvo a él. He sentido emociones que estaban ahí grabadas en lo más profundo de mi ser...GRACIAS 😊
That was awesome , happy , sad , thought provoking and beautiful all rolled in to one . Hope you guys hook up you looked so perfect together. Respect to you
This is so heartwarming. It is true that it should be how people treat each other! This whole journey is so beautiful, and meaningful. Everything leads up to that exact moment at the end! Thank you for this video
I've walked numerous Camino's and have found myself "thinking" about all the topics you mentioned within your video. You are "Spot on" with all your comments. Hopefully more will see this video.
This was amazing. I am doing the Camino in August and this video motivated me even more. I can't wait! seeing that 0,00km marker at the end must have been a great feeling! great achievement.
You captured so much of the commraderie and beautiful freedom of the Camino. Thank you for allowing me to reconnect to those feelings of unabashed joy and inspiration to simply enjoy the journey. Buen Camino, peregrino!
This was an amazing video, I went to Santiago de Compostela and heard about the camino de Santiago for the first time there. I didn't think it was a big deal at first but after watching your video, I can see the big meaning it carries for those who decide to walk 700+ km. I now feel interested on doing it. PD: This whole video is also a love song for Amelia!
Dear Hank. Your account of this milestone pilgrimage is so absorbing and moving that I can barely recall any documentary that has touched me as deeply in the recent years. I'm only one thirds way through the video, but I just can't keep it inside till the end of the story. Please, tell me you've met Amalie again afterwards! It's been 6 years since that memorable story, so I hope I can count on a spoiler already :) You're a marvellous narrator!
Hank, I am so happy for you! Your story of your walking touch my heart. I can see love in you. Also love story between you and Amalie! Hope you both keep in touch to one another to continue forever love story. God blessed.
Hank, I loved your video. Someday I will walk the Camino with my wife & daughter. I am so glad that God let you meet your true soul mate, Amalie. I hope you will go after her no matter how far away she might live. You two will be a Great Couple and that's my two cents worth as we have been married for 24 years and counting. May God Bless You Two!!!:)
Wonderful video Hank! My wife and I completed the Camino Frances on October 25th. Your video has helped me keep my memories of the the Camino alive. Everyday I wake up with the desire to return to the Camino with the liberty and tranquility I experienced. Thanks again...this is one of the best videos.
Thanks for the kind words, Don! I'm so glad you got a chance to do the Camino -- it's such a great experience, and I'm so glad you liked the video. Maybe someday we'll go back and do it again!
I’ve walked he exact same route in 2017, I just found this video, and you made me cry. Wonderful way to share your experience, thank you for bringing back the memories, and for inspiring me even more to go back!
Hi Krisz! I'm so glad you had a great trip when you went, and I'm glad you liked the video. I hope you do get to return to the Camino! It's a great experience for sure.
Eres la persona que mejor ha plasmado lo que siento.... no concibo ya mi vida sin caminar; sin vivir la magia del camino.Me ha emocionado...lo has descrito tan exacto..me entiendes tan bien. Y la historia con Amelie es para una película. . .
Brought a tear :) My wife and I are 70 years old and we're going to try walking from Porto and onto Finisterre. You've inspired us.
glad you enjoyed it! can't wait to hear about your trip!
Every time I see this lovely video... I cry like a baby! Thank you Hank for the memories. I think I'm taking off on a third Camino, I miss it soo much!
Susan ... Walking strong at 67!
Hi, Susan! I'm glad you liked the video so much! I can't wait to hear about your third Camino, and I hope I'm still hiking when I'm 67!
Susan Harris you go girl!
Susan Harris, do you do the Camino solo? I am also an older woman, thinking about doing it alone.
Solo female here too, also interested in the Camino. Best of luck ladies!
I am planning for next april, is that okey season?
My son do the camino 4 years ago and found his wife there, they have their first son last month.
That's so romantic! Congratulations to you and your son! -Hank
I understand that your son met a woman on the road who became his wife. And their first child is a son. How nice.
@@donnawoodford6641 ,Yes,my English in not very good,sorry.
Hank, LOVE IS A GAME in which you have to be daring enough to ask another beautiful person to play it with you!
Ask and you shall receive!
❤
Met my wife on the camino in 1984 and 33 years later We are still on our camino through life together, Best documentary on the camino ever and I hope you guys stay in touch.

What a great video, thank you to both of you, blessed your life with all your encounters on your way….🎉❤
This brings back so many memories. In October 2019 pre COVID I had competed the Camino De Santiago at age 15. It is probably my greatest achievement in my life so far
glad you liked the story! hope you get a chance to do more cool trips once the pandemic ends.
You left us hanging with a beautiful love story? What happened after the Camino ended?
Yes, we need closure! @@mariussmook8030
Been recommending this video for everyone who has a transition period and it is lost in life. Every time I see this video, I have the feeling I want to do the Camino again - I've being doing many times already. This is most probably the best video about the Camino which shows the real essence of that and the connection with human being.
thank you! glad you enjoyed it
On 21 May 2017, I am ready to start my 7th Camino in 3 weeks. I do it in memory of my daughter who passed away in 2010.
Donald Weaks ❤️
A 7 year old video still holding its power to amaze and to inspire
thank you!
This is honestly one of my favourite videos I've ever watched on YT. Your storytelling is awesome.
Hi, Luke! Thanks so much for the nice comment. Glad you enjoyed it!
Watch "Dos Chicas" published near the end of 2019 by a trailer hiker named Dixie.

The Magic Of Spain..
Still the best Camino video I’ve ever seen. Life changing stuff.
+Remco Bontenbal Hi Remco! I'm so glad you liked the video. I'm glad you had a great Camino as well!
Hank Leukart beautiful video. Did you ever see Amalie again?
10:25 just made me realize how happy I am that I took the plunge and started a relationship on the camino, even though she's from the other side of the world. We're now 2 months from our 5th wedding anniversary and have the typical crazy life of a family with two kids.
Wow, what an amazing story! I'm so happy that worked out for you. Congrats on your anniversary and kids!!
Hank, this is still my most favorite Camino film. I’ve watched it many times over the years! And always find myself coming back to it.
Me too Genevieve, Me too
Hank, I had an amazing experience watching this video.
Hi, Jiten! I'm glad you liked it!
Thanks for the kind words! I hope you also get a chance to do the Camino, or return if you have already had the experience.
i made the same way last year, it took me 30 days to santiago, only one blister, just using a normal new balance shoes, the weather was all season at the same time on every day, that was in april, and arrive at Finisterre at day number 32, and definitely i’m going to do it it again and again...the most amazing experience in my life
Wish I'd watched this before I walked it. You nailed it Hank. I walked with 25 blisters from day one and it almost crippled me. I really felt your pain. Thanks for being so open and honest emotionally. It really shows what a struggle all of us go thru when walking this journey. I was hoping for a happy ending with Amalie, love to you both.
thank you so much! glad you enjoyed it. sorry you had so much trouble at the beginning of your Camino -- I hope you too enjoyed the second half.
Louise also struggled with her blisters early on in our walk of the Camino Frances...you really have to look after your feet during this walk 👣
Be well, and thank you again.
thank you for the kind words! i'm so glad you enjoyed it. and i hope to do another camino some day, maybe in portugal!
completed June 2014, 10 years ago, your video brought back so many memories…
+ursula groves Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. I'm glad you had a great Camino!
what time of year did you start and how long did it take you?
I started on May 7 and walked from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Finisterre in 38 days. (35 days of walking + 3 rest days.)
Thanks so much for the kind words, Deckie! Glad you enjoyed the video.
thank you for the kind words and observations, olga! i hope you have a wonderful trip!
Hi, Morten! Thanks so much -- I'm happy you liked the film, and I love your Camino story. Congrats on your daughter!
@@HankLeukart Thank you Hank 😊.
Ultreia!
thanks for the kind words! i'm so glad you enjoyed my film so much!
So happy you liked the video!
Dear Hank,
I walked the Camino with my wife Lynn in May June this year (2017). Your film moved me deeply, thankyou for filming this. It was liked I walked the Camino again.
The best Camino movie I have watched to date.
Buen Camino
Thanks, Paul! I hope you two had a great Camino also.
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks, glad you liked it so much!
Thank you Hank for sharing your story with us.
thanks so much! i hope you get a chance to do the journey again when the pandemic chills out. glad you enjoyed the story!
You did such a great job in carrying the story all the way through the video. Letting people go is part of the process of traveling and hiking. It makes us stronger and value people more while we enjoy their company.
Thanks, Liliana! So glad you liked it!
Great film that captures the feelings of the Camino!
so glad you enjoyed it shari! i'm sorry i never met you in 2015! how was your 2019 trip?
Thank you for sharing your Camino, it was beautiful. I leave in two days for my Camino. Buen Camino
Hi, Oscar! Thanks -- I'm glad you liked it. I hope you had a great Camino!
That is why I love my country, special the last scene, there is no sun like in that in world., I miss that place.
Yeah, Spain is a very cool place. Glad you liked the video.
Si Juan yo también viva España y toda su gente 🇪🇸
so, at that point....
Thanks so much for all the kid words and compliments! And, yes, it's true that many of the feelings from the Camino I still carry with me, even now.
/Björn
Wow, thank you, so happy you liked the video! Which route do you plan to walk?
I could relate to all of this. Just completed my first Camino from SJPDP to SANTIAGO last month. Loved it. Great job helping to relive the memories.
Thanks, John! Glad you enjoyed the video!
no doubt one of the best made videos. it's encouraging. profound and in very good quality. thanks for the effort. bless you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Conozco la emoción del camino, sufrí... Me sentí pequeño, lloré y fui feliz. Bendito Santiago...
Amelie and you are going to walk the Camino again someday :-)
Thank you.
how wonderful and magic! You caught the spirit of the Camino!
Thank you!
Im from Texas and found this vid so motivating and awesome. You are a brave man for commiting this journey alone. Thank you so much for your effort on building this inspirational vid. i cant wait to start my camino in 2020
I also live in Tx. The more I know about El Camino, the more I want to do it ❤
The camino will transform you in so many ways, trust me.
My wife , Taraz and I really enjoyed your movie. It touched our souls. Gracias.
thank you!
I am 65 and just retired as an International Flight Attendant of 40 years. Last week the Camino entered my stream of consciousness for the first time ever. And now I am going next September. This was a beautiful video, the first one that I have seen actually, and I want to thank you. It was touching and inspiring.
Hi Patricia! I'm thrilled to hear that the video inspired you! I hope to hear how your Camino goes. If you have any questions, let me know.
@@leatherandlace73 How was your trip ?
So lovely. I became tearful, then cried as I remember my own Camino. You capture the experience - the mundane, emotional, and spiritual aspects - so well. Buen Camino, Hank.
Thanks, Jasmyne! So glad you liked it!
Thank you for this amazing video, I can't wait to leave for MY Camino in 16 days
Best of luck for everything!

Watch "Dos Chicas" published near the end of 2019 by a trail hiker named Dixie.
Thanks so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed it!
Hank,
All I can say is thank you for this video.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! I hope you have a great Camino and can't wait to hear about yours. It's a wonderful trip.
Dear Hank, Thank you.
And your most poignant point was - "Relish that moment you have." Thank you for that! Iain.
You really captured the heart of the Camino hank ... I did it last year before the corona virus and as soon as someone comes up with a vaccine .... I off immediately to do it again ..... It changed my life in a way I simply cannot describe.... I will never look on life in the same way after that experience.
thank you, stuart! so glad you enjoyed it! i hope you get a chance to do another camino soon.
Since 2015 I'm watching this video at least once a year - and it is still one of the best Camino videos on UA-cam. 🙂
Thanks a lot for it - again.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Hi, Ali! I'm so glad you liked it, and I hope you have a great Camino!
My Spanish teacher assigned this as homework and I can honestly say this is one of the only homework videos I've ever actually *liked*. The quality of the video, the storytelling, all of it was done incredibly well.
hahaha sorry you had to watch it for class, but super glad you liked it!!
This video was simply breathtaking. What a dream. Ever since I saw the movie THE WAY, this has been a dream of mine. Thanks for sharing.
glad you enjoyed it!
Hank, es un video excelente, muy bien narrado todas las experiencias del Camino. Felicitaciones!!!
Gracias!
True that. They are grinches.
You couldn't have said it better. This video is what put the Camino on the map for me.
I came here to say the same thing. Best of all !!!!!
This just makes me wanna go back right now.
thank you so much! yes, i'd love to do the portugues sometime

Thanks, Chuck! Glad you liked it, and I'm always happy when one of my videos inspires someone to go on a great trip!
Beautiful and sincere film.
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Dear Hank. Your account of this milestone pilgrimage is so absorbing and moving that I can barely recall any documentary that has touched me as deeply in the recent years. I'm only one thirds way through the video, but I just can't keep it inside till the end of the story. Please, tell me you've met Amalie again afterwards! It's been 6 years since that memorable story, so I hope I can count on a spoiler already :) You're a marvellous narrator!
thank you so much for the kind words! i'm so glad you enjoyed the film. i hope you made it to the end!

Hi, Clement! Thanks so much for the kind comments about my video! I hope you get a chance to do the Camino with your family someday. It's worth it!
