Judas Priest is an influential heavy metal band formed in Birmingham, England, in 1969. Known for their powerful sound and leather-clad image, they are often credited with helping define and popularize the heavy metal genre. The band's core lineup features Rob Halford's distinctive, operatic vocal style, twin guitar harmonies by Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, and the thunderous rhythm section of bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis. Over the decades, Judas Priest has released numerous iconic albums, including "British Steel," "Screaming for Vengeance," and "Defenders of the Faith." Their energetic performances and innovative music have earned them a dedicated global fanbase and a lasting legacy in rock history.
"Painkiller," released in 1990, is a landmark song by Judas Priest, showcasing the band's return to a harder and faster sound. The track opens with Scott Travis's explosive double bass drumming, setting an intense pace that carries through the song. Rob Halford's soaring vocals deliver a dramatic narrative about a mythic savior, the Painkiller, who arrives to rescue humanity from destruction. The dual guitar work by Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing is a highlight, featuring blistering solos and powerful riffs that epitomize the essence of heavy metal. "Painkiller" is often hailed as one of Judas Priest's greatest songs, embodying their signature blend of aggression, technical prowess, and anthemic energy. The song's relentless intensity and epic composition have made it a staple in the band's live performances and a fan favorite.
Scott Travis, the most underrated drummer in existence.
They were one of the reasons Metal evolved into speed and thrash metal. They were thought to be done in late 80's and they came out with Painkiller, one of the most metal albums ever created.
And now LOVEBITES has taken the torch from JP and will carry it into the future once JP retires: ua-cam.com/video/jeL6FHQ01V4/v-deo.html

If you want Steph to become a fan - The 1983 live version of 'Victim of Changes'
Beyond the Realms of Death
Glen Tipton d best.
1983 US FESTIVAL...Victim of Changes
You should take a listen to something really early in their career like "Victim of Changes" as well as something from their brand new album (this year) like "The Serpent and the King". Their catalog has SO much variety that you will need to hear quite a few songs to really get a grasp on their "sound".
Check out Blood Red Skies off of their 1988 Ram It Down. He sings low parts, medium parts and really high parts like Pain Killer. It's a totally different song with totally different feeling.
Glenn Tipton is the main guitar soloist in Painkiller, a much better guitar player than KK Downing. Painkiller was the title track to their Painkiller album. The entire Painkiller album is amazing!
They are different.
100% True.
Certainly would say he’s a “better guitar player”. A better song and riff writer absolutely. But Ken’s a phenomenal player
All guns blazing is one of my favorite tipton solos
