I can't believe the way to fix my controller was to just hit it a couple times. Glad to see the best solution to problems is still usually physical violence.
Had my controller for about 5 years, when I opened it up it was pretty clean. I used a small long flat head screw driver , alcohol and Q tips, went as far as opening the doors ,taking the discs out , brushing and assembled . I did not use any paper though and it works great now , impressed , thank you.
You are a life saver. This video is amazing, very well explained. My pro controller it’s working again, no drift, no issues and I haven’t spend money on a new joystick. Thank you very much with all my heart.🥰
Absolutely the best guide out there with so many more methods to try. I've been fixing my controller every other day cos the drift keeps coming back, glad I have more methods to try if it persists
@@HowToXHello, I know this is an old video but what kind of glue would you recommend if I removed the soft parts for under the buttons? I removed them thinking that I could clean them, I did clean them but now it's a hassle to put the soft pieces back on without them falling off and or not being in place properly
I did did all methods excluding the last one and it fixed the drift issue I’ve had for over two years; so far these methods worked for me. If the issue comes back I’ll update the comment.
Thanks so much! This tutorial had a good variety of ways to fix the pro controller and thanks to this video I managed to fix my controller drift that I've had for so long!
Hey man. I didn't even have to open it. All I did was the vacuum cleaner and q-tips and it 100% fixed it. I couldnt hold up on the left joystick before. Thanks a lot
I bought a refurbished Switch afterglow controller. Turns out it was drifting and the seller sent me a refund and told me to keep it. I had nothing to lose, so I disassemled it (it's clear it had never been opened) and lifted up the small metal part of the disc inside the little box. It fixed the issue, thank you very much!!! :)
the " go deep inside" part helped for me lmao. thank you, mine were a little different, but a good air dusting inside those side compartments fixed my terrible drift. EDIT:Didn't last long
Holy moly, this helped me fix my controller easy! I used the first method and it worked, now my screen is not rotating every second. Definitely Like material!
it fixes my Controller for more than 3 weeks. I did it again and again and it worked everytime. But i still buy a new one because this one is kno 5 years old. Thanks for the Video mate ^^
I may end up having to try one of these methods. My Pro Controller (which I bought about a year after I bought my first Switch) just started to drift. The irony is that I bought it because the Joy-Cons were drifting. But I did manage to replace the joysticks on those, so in the meantime, I can always use those in the event that I need to replace the joysticks on my Pro Controller.
Surprised the first step seems to have worked on my pro controller ^_^ Never knew I could calibrate from the settings, like the old Guncon sensor alignment. I appreciate your taking the time to help everyone, never had problems with joysticks on the old systems, every new system seems to have some drift issues. Need stronger controllers!!!!
Thank you dude. I was fortunate enough that the bang upside down and blow with the mouth method worked. I have a working controller for now, 2 hours into TOTK and it didn't drift once. But i have a good reference video in case I need to go deeper in and get it fixed!
I appreciate you. I just poured some Isopropyl Alcohol on the right side joystick guts and moved it around a bit, blew it out and put it back together. so far so good. oh and I had a Nintendo switch Power A Nano. Thank you for this video
I had my tools ready to unscrew and open up the controller but I’m glad I saw this video and all I had to do was update and recalibrate the controller.
Bro thank you so much this is the only video ever that’s ever helped me with stick drift and I usually just buy a new cheep one but I got a 60$ one this time and my drift is gone thank you so much man!
Thank you! I followed step by step and was able to solve this....the problem was when I squeezed the controller, the right analog kept going down... The last 2 steps (that I was afraid of doing so...) Is what solved this!
Not me finding out after all these years I just needed to "tap that" or blow it with a straw!!! I just tapped that and it's already working a little better 😱 Lemme get to blowing real quick ☝🏽
Thank you so much for this!!! I guess some type of debris got into my controller after I threw it to the side, tapping and blowing fixed it right up!!!
Wow I had the kit, lube n all Only to find out the straw trick wrked. I'm happy but disappointed like this whole time wth. Now I'm looking for something else to take apart. Deff a sub you've earned
Something that work for me, (but probably not for you, cus you're not that lucky) was calibarting it 5 times over has at least temporarily fixed the problem for me
Gave all these a try but no dice. This does go very into detail and I was able to follow all the way to step 9 so thanks alot regardless. Think I might just need a new stick or controller.
My right stick wont move the screen to the right (happened while playing xenoverse 2) ive tried everything besides the one where you have to remove parts. Help?
this video might have been two years ago but i just now found out the drift problem i had with my controller was because there was dirt in it 🙁✊ (this video was actually so helpful though 😎😎)
Hello! One of the joysticks on my procontroller feels rigid and jerky. It squeeks and does not jump back to «neutral» when I let go. Most obvious while moving the joystick downwards. The other one feels completely smooth by comparison. This happened out of the blue when I was playing. I have opened the green doors and cleaned as instructed, but it made no improvement. Got any additional advice? 😕 Edit: I ended up spraying it with some silicone. It got better, but not perfect.
I have a stubborn left stick on my pro controller that drifts downwards. I got my switch on a trip to the US and am currently living in Brazil, around here, Nintendo only offers free repairs to joy cons. I have tried all of the methods you mentioned that don't open the controller and it was fine for a week, until it started drifting again 😢 I guess I'll need to open it

I can't believe the way to fix my controller was to just hit it a couple times.
Glad to see the best solution to problems is still usually physical violence.
This comment made me smash my controller a bunch of times aggressively for about 10 minutes, I can proudly say this method is a bust.
WAIT WHY DID THIS ACTUALLY WORK FOR ME 😂😂😂😂😂
@@Jumz_ it did for me too lol turns out if you use the Ooga booga hitting method it would work
Literally fixed my $60 controller in less than 2 minutes. Definitely a like
Which method worked?
Calibrated worked for me my right joystick was so hard to move, and it worked
Same dude the straw method worked for me wonders
Method three/saved me a new pro controller!!
tap that
BRO YOUR ACTUALLY COOKING, I tried the straw one and it worked

Thank you so much for this. I was literally panicking when my controllers right stick was acting weird. The straw method worked.
Method 4 and 5 really did the trick, is perfectly working fine again, thank you!

method 8 & 9 worked. Thankfully I didn't need to do the tape thing, but you made it really easy to understand how to fix. Great video!
the straw fixed it so fast! even the calibrate doesn't ghost moves down by itself anymore. I'll see how it works as I play today!

I used the straw method, and it worked! No more drifting! Thanks for saving me a repair bill!
Actually worked this is the first time I follow a guide to fixing a piece of tech and it actually works, thanks man

It's Zelda that takes all my pro controllers. I broke one on BOTW and another on TOTK.
Thank you for a easy guide I was afraid I would need to buy another $70 controller but this fixed it in just 30 seconds
Best watch bruh, been having to deal with controller drift for a year and the straw method worked great
I appreciate you. I just poured some Isopropyl Alcohol on the right side joystick guts and moved it around a bit, blew it out and put it back together. so far so good. oh and I had a Nintendo switch Power A Nano. Thank you for this video
great video! i tried blowing with a straw and it actually worked. good to see this video isn't bullshit
The straw trick is very underated.
I had my tools ready to unscrew and open up the controller but I’m glad I saw this video and all I had to do was update and recalibrate the controller.
I had to use method 8, and it seems to have done the trick. Thanks!

Bro thank you so much mine was so bad I had to do method 7 and it worked!!!! It’s works better than when I got it🎉
Method 3 was what helped me alot. I just pressed the button on top without the other steps and it started up good as new
Bro thank you so much I was about to buy new joy sticks and start opening it up but you saved me lots of time and money
I had to go all the way down to the tape trick. but it works now.
Thanks a mill
Thank you! I followed step by step and was able to solve this....the problem was when I squeezed the controller, the right analog kept going down...
The last 2 steps (that I was afraid of doing so...) Is what solved this!
Thanks. Did 7&8. If you're going to do 7 might as well do 8. Works great.
Let’s go! The resink worked for mine. It was drifting wired and didn’t know what it could be because it happened when I touched something
Method 9 was the one that saved my controller, thank you verry much
