  • My friend gave me his stick drifting controller. I hoped to make an easy quick video showing the cleaning process, and easiest way to (usually) address the drifting issue. Unfortunately, this one was not so simple.

    Ive cleaned my controller using contact cleaner and it didn't work at first but cleaning the grphite off with the contwct cleaner on a swab on the areas of potentiometer contacts worked wonders... been 4 months drift free

    I wish there was at least some sort of minor voiceover for the repair part. Not all of it needed to be sped up as it was almost entirely fine adjustments and made it impossible to see what was being done. Bravo to you both for sticking through it and fixing this thing.

      Really? I see various youtubers use those types of electric air blowers and say "Man this thing is great I use it all the time! Totally not sponsored! I will link in the description!"... and it's always an affiliate link. And then, without fail, you will see them still using canned air to clean stuff in future videos. They just don't have the pressure/flow rate of canned air does.

    Wow! What a curveball with that stick drift. I think those pro controllers are better than the joycons when it comes to stick drift, but at least it can be fixed with the right skills.

      The Power A controller I have was way worse than that. The right stick spun the camera wildly and constantly when I was playing through Astral Chain. I used to have a video of it but that was four years ago now. Even sent it to them on Twitter.
      They offered to replace the controller but I know how to do all the cleaning and soldering. Just wanted to share the vid them for quality control.
      The controller was the orange black Metroid controller for the Switch.

      Knock on wood, I haven't gotten stick drift with any joy cons/pro controllers yet. I love my pro controllers most, but what starts wearing for me is the joystick shaft itself where to rubs on inside of the circular hole in the shell. (...that was close to sounding dirty)

      What do you have to lose. Assuming all you break is the joystick, it can probably be replaced cheaply. Probably.

    • @cosmiccar667
      @cosmiccar667 3 місяці тому

      Actually in my opinion if the drift is bad where it’s unplayable, you basically have a broken controller. So breaking even more doesn’t even seem bad. The steps you got to be careful is the wire connecting them when you first open it. The rest is easy just make sure you keep track of screws and where they go.

  • @starz3165
    @starz3165 6 місяців тому +1

    i wonder if it’s possible to jst take it from the screws off remove the sticks and clean them if it would work n stop the drift rather than taking the whole thing apart i’m scared to completely take it apart 😞😭

  • @SMEARGLEX75
    @SMEARGLEX75 Місяць тому

    What Screws did they use? They got grinded off so easily.

  • @zogsquid
    @zogsquid Рік тому +1

    There must be so many broken/drifting controllers just sitting around. If you don’t have this level of skill you really have no choice but to buy a new one as it would be so costly to get it fixed by a professional. Maybe in the future the components will be made more modular to make replacing easier. But I guess that’s not in the best interest of companies that make more money from just selling more controllers.😢

    The pro controller is definitely better than the joy cons. When it was my main I never had drift. Still no drift in the joy cons either.
    My wired Power A controllers always had drift and really bad. I started typing this before the vid actually started and was going to mention BW100😂
    I’ve used it once for drift and nearly a year later the drift hasn’t returned.
    But the best thing you can do is buy a controller with Hall Effect sticks like the Gulikit King Kong Pro 1, 2, or now 3.
