Why should the people make the owner of the As richer. If I get to vote on it. Im voting no. If he wants the As here let him pay for it. I also wish the Raiders would go back to Oakland. This town was alot better before they showed up.
And venture to guess if the A's owner had a history of putting the *HUGE* revenues the team has made (its a pretty profitable "company") back into the team (to make the team better), I'd think it *might* get more support. Unless, I'm mistaken, that doesn't appear to be the case as don't the A's have among the lowest team payroll in the MLB?
Schools in Vegas are hurting badly! Test scores are low and per student spending is at an ultimate low!!! That being said, as I stated before the stadium needs to be off the strip as to allow for proper traffic flow on the strip! The strip is already blocked up with traffic! The city engineers are crazy already with the race being allowed!!! Now they know the problems and costs! The noise, traffic, pedestrians, parking, emergency traffic, security, police, camera surveillance, whoa...it's beyond nightmare level! I live by a stadium, and I'm in bumper to bumper traffic right now for the last 30 min... I don't want to plan my vegas trips around these problems! There are many great areas to put the stadium! Not on my strip!!! 😂👺☠️🫷🏽⚾️⚾️I do love baseball❤!
This is the main reason there are so many hospitality jobs in Vegas. The majority of them are not very well educated. This is why Vegas will not be able to support any tech jobs unless people from the outside to fill them!!!

Non local chiming in, that money ABSOLUTELY should go to the schools. Me and my wife considered moving to Vegas from Tampa and we actually were all for it but since we have two young kids and one of them is autistic we declined because the schools are terrible. Like scraping the bottom bad. Please send that money and the cannabis money to improve the schools and let the A's stay in California.

In California, it's known that the great majority of money for schools are used to improve anything and everything for administration such as better facilities and their personal use than actually for students.
As a lifelong California, the money going to education is a money pit. Always asking for more, test scores never improve. Then when all else fails, the phrase " It's for the kids" comes into play. Go with the A's, as at least create jobs, and get tax money coming in. Are you receiving tax money from schools?
Agree. The same is in Chicago where it costs 29K per student. The students are still illiterate and cannot do basic math. The education system is a bottomless pit in most places as you state. Around 50% of the real estate tax in Chicago goes to the public schools. I left there a long time ago.
It’s a red herring. If these people cared so much for education they should pay more in property taxes but most Las Vegas citizens are cheap as hell.

If the teachers are successful at canceling the $380 million it's not like they are going to get the $380 million. The $380 million is a loan backed by bonds that will be repaid by the taxes generated by the stadium. So if there is no stadium there are no new taxes generated, not just from the stadium but potential taxes generated from visitors because of the stadium. What is the saying, how do rich people stay rich, they don't spend their own money.
But the same logic exists, if you gave those bonds or special taxes to the teachers, they could use them in the same way yes?
@@NOTLeavingLV If there is no new stadium there will not be any new streams of tax revenue to pay off the bonds. So if the taxpayer wanted to give $380 million to education they would need to pay off the bonds with existing streams of tax revenue, they could do this with or without building the stadium. But nobody wants to pay more taxes, that's why a lot of people moved here to pay less taxes. The teachers' group is conflating the two issues to gain attention to something that is essential for a society, better education.

The problem with the schools is because the parents of these students are economically challenged. That is to say are poor service workers and the kids are not from good homes.
John Fisher doesn't deserve a dime of public money. He promises to raise payroll and that won't happen. He should sell to the Smith's in Utah. They are using public money but the state has the passion to approve the bill without a guarantee of a team. Plus they are good people unlike Fisher. Utah also funds its educational facilities already.
Billions should build their own stadium.

For the record.. $380 million is not being given to him instead of spending it on schools. The 380 million is future tax money the stadium generates. If you don't build the stadium there is no money... so schools get nothing, the stadium does not get built and Vegas may never get a baseball team. Everyone takes a loss...
If they named them Atomics they could keep the A’s just not use Athletics. Put a pic of an atom on their hats or jersey.
The A's in Vegas would make 81 home games reasons for people to plan a Vegas trip from out of state. essentially every home series you have a new convention coming to town. I am opposed to giving taxpayer money to sports teams. But the teachers are responsible for Nevada being 48th in the nation in regards to education. Why? Probably poor teaching to begin with. The teachers answer is more money. If the schools get more money and Nevada is not #1 in the nation after the cash infusion, you were lied to, and were better off building the stadium. At least the poorly educated will have a chance at a job.
