I used this method, and it changed the appearance of the paper, but I couldn't change its texture. It still feels new, and I need a way to make it feel old. I have paper that looks exactly like currency. Can you help me? I've tried many methods over the past four months without success. I buried it in the soil for two months, and when I took it out, its texture hadn't changed.
This tutorial is fantastic. I'm making a birthday gift for one of my closest friends and I was struggling to find a good way to make vintage looking paper for it. This video is a life saver.
This is perfect!! I told my 4 YO daughter last night we could make a treasure map for a treasure hunt and it’s been evolving into a much bigger thing! Can you antique the paper first and then easily draw on it with colored pencils? Or would it be better to draw first and then antique it??
May I just add that if you’re gonna print something on paper in future you wanna print first as running antiqued paper through printer might clog and damage it
Thank you so much! I have watched several videos, for my class, showing them how to make paper look old. Your video is, by far, the easiest, safest, and least messy of all my searching! Thank you! Sending the hubby for instant coffee right now.
That paper looks beautiful. Need to show how the paper looks after you have used it in a diy. That would make an excellent video. Hope to see one soon . Love all your videos.
Hi! This is fabulous! Sometimes getting certain results fast is great. This is one of those processes. I had been so reluctant to try making stain paper because of the oven drying process. Now even my kid can do this! It looks so genuine. I can hardly wait to try it. Thank you so much for sharing!
You're such a treasure. You have no idea how much you help and inspire me and I know thousands of others. Thank you for sharing your God given talent❤️
I use coffee and tea to age my papers. There's also "cinnamon staining" papers but I haven't done that yet. To add more of an authentic aged look, I'll also add some coffee smears, drops & splatters. Love it! I love how you make the paper edge rough -- it's perfect!
DEIDRE !! I tried it! I printed out a stand of pine trees and did your technique. Then I wrapped the paper around a small wire "frame" and made a night light!!! SOOOOOOOO CUUUUUUUUUUUTe !!
I appreciate that all your projects are simple and inexpensive. Everything comes out really awesome too. Thanks for sharing all your tips and tricks. 🤗🤗😚😙💗💗
Hello, love this technique, I always took some Tim Holtz antique linen ink to age my paper, but I love the effect of your technique, will be trying it very soon. Thank you for sharing and have a great day !
Maybe i missed this in the video but this technique would be most suitable for laser printed posters since water doesnt affect the print. Most inkjet prints I would assume run under water or at least create somendiscolouration of black in places from the print...is this something that happened or did you fix the print with a spray assuming it is an inkjet print?
I want to try this with book pages to glue onto a poster board! I already brewed some coffee so I'll see how it works with just using a wet paper towel without the instant coffee in it. 😊 I'll keep you posted!!
i dont have the right paper so it doesnt look weird for what i plan to do, but brown watercolors would help for thicker papers it seems since i did something like that for an art project before. i think i used some sort of card stock? im not sure
I really love your videos, since they are not only interesting , but I do learn lots of useful techniques and brilliant tips an ideas, thanks sooo much for all you do🌸
I dissolve instant coffee with hot water in a tiny bowl. Add more or less coffee for different intensities of aging. I use a paintbrush to apply the solution onto the paper. I have an old window screen which I use to dry my papers quickly by laying the wet papers on top then placing the screen over a raised area to let air circulate around the papers until dry. Works great as well when making handmade paper.
I very much love this idea- I am wanting to do this to a page from a vintage hymn book, then decoupage the page to wood. After the coffee stained age is dry, how would I get my page flat and soft enough to decoupage it? I just found you on you tube/ I am so glad! Thank you for your help I am new to doing decoupage 😳
Perfect! This is just what I needed for a project today! I used a combination of tea and coffee, and dried in the oven. Only issue I ran into was the use of scissors to roughen the edges --- I found that a nice smooth table spoon or soup spoon works much better! It roughens the paper, delaminates it slightly and doesn't make it look like it's been cut with a blade or sharp object.
Question: Is it ok to lightly sand the words before applying the coffee aging method? I love your channel. I learn something new each time. Thank you! 😊
Question: Let's say I want to do this for a large piece of paper that I'm hand-drawing a fantasy map on (I will be using Sharpie). If I draw everything on first, will the Sharpie ink come off (even if dried)?
So creative! Do you think you could age the paper first, then after ironing it run it through an inkjet printer? I don’t have a laser printer and I was thinking it would not run if I did the printing after the aging process.
I was wondering if you age it first then print on it do you cut the edges before or after you put it in the printer? Another question if I print it at staples (the store) will the ink run? If I want to burn the edges do I do that before or after using the coffee? Is the paper brittle and gonna brake if it folds?
Photo paper is not absorbent so anything that you try to put on top of it will not soak in and stay so I don’t know of a method that would actually work well on photo paper unfortunately
Thanks to your helpful videos. I really like your videos, I just would like to ask how to make papers look aged but not looking hard and strong so that I can easily fold them into my pocket.
Is there any issue with ink running? And does it make the paper brittle or easily ripped. I'm wanting to make a book with this paper and font want it to fall apart
Are use my LaserJet printer when printing on these papers so I don’t have to worry about the ink running if you’re using an inkjet it might be a bit more tricky
These were exceptional 🤭 OBSESSED!! I looked on your Etsy store and noticed that all your prints were files only 😩 I don’t have a printer but would love to buy some of your prints I could easily do the reverse method but again I have no printer….
Wow! Thank you for this tutorial! I have something in mind for a picture frame with a hymn! So I’m excited thank you😊🥰 Here is some good news for you! “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 KJV “and brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:30-31 KJV❤
This turns out beautifully. If you wanted to flatten out your paper after using your first demonstrated process, do you think you could iron it after drying it with a heat gun? Thanks for sharing all your ideas! ~ Linda
This turned out so amazing! I know I'm probably the only Canadian that doesn't like coffee, Tim Hortons or any for that matter. I just don't like the smell of coffee, I know, my husband's says I'm weird, but I'm willing to give this technique a 'go'! Maybe I should use a clothespin.......for my nose?!😄
Hi! I have to do a diary entry from the 1700 so I was looking for a video and this one was a jackpot but 1 question; I’m writing on the paper with pen so does that matter. Whether it’s printed or not? Thanks!
Ohhhh my! You did NOT just use that Tim Hortons coffee on that paper!!! Lol! Being from WNY we love our Canadian coffee (maybe too much)!! Love this but I will be using dollar tree coffee… not the good stuff! Thanks for sharing!

So creative! Do you think you could age the paper first, then after ironing it run it through an inkjet printer? I don’t have a laser printer and I was thinking it would not run if I did the printing after the aging process.
Yep you sure can! That would work great as long as you leave it full sheet to put thru
I'm learning so much t4s
I recommend using some scrap fabric to hold the coffee grounds if you are doing lots and lots of pages. You can reuse this for a lot longer
Great tip
