- I came up with a fast and simple process of coffee dyeing my paper! No soaking! No baking! No mess! No fuss! No more wasted hours and days to make coffee dyed paper for your junk journals! You'll want to try it out today! Watch my easy to follow Step by Step Tutorial to learn my hacks, tips and tricks! TWO IMPORTANT THINGS 1) Safety first! Please refer to your item's manual if you have any doubts or questions. Please do not leave your electric items unattended Always make sure that there is a proper AIR FLOW to the back side of your box fan. My box fan has legs which is why it does not lay flat on the floor (you can see in the video that it is tilted forward). The legs prevent it from sitting flush to the floor. If your fan is completely flat, then you would need to raise the fan from the floor to ensure the proper air flow . As always, please exercise common sense and caution, and ensure that you use your household items properly and in a safe manner. 2) You don’t necessarily need to have a box fan for this project! If you have one of the smaller table-top or a clip-on fans - those will work too! It will take a bit longer to dry, but you will still avoid using the oven! 😉If you like this tutorial - please give my video a Like and subscribe to my channel for more fresh paper crafting ideas!

Hey, friends! I am blown away and so incredibly thankful for all your comments! I want to address *TWO* *IMPORTANT* *THINGS* 1) *Safety* *first!* Always make sure that there is a proper *AIR* *FLOW* to the back side of your box fan. My box fan has *legs* which is why it does not lay flat on the floor (you can see in the video that it is tilted forward). The legs prevent it from sitting flush to the floor. If your fan is completely flat, then you would need to *raise* the fan from the floor to ensure the proper *air* *flow* . You could place it on two stacks of books or two boxes or place it between two chairs. I also have this information noted in the *Video* *Description* . As always, please exercise common sense and caution, and ensure that you use your household items properly and in a safe manner. *Please* *refer* *to* *your* *item's* *manual* if you have any doubts or questions. *Please* *do* *not* *leave* *your* *electric* *items* *unattended* 2) You don’t necessarily need to have a box fan for this project! Too many ads… but live your videos.
@@SeerSeekingTruth Thank you for watching! I do not have any control over the amount of ads UA-cam displays per video, but I’m glad you like my videos and I appreciate you watching. Thanks again!
I love coffee dyed paper with lace designs. I did it twice than realized I ain’t got no time for this mess 😂. So I started purchasing it. Now I ain’t got no money for this mess 😂 so absolutely this is the way to go to achieve the look and feel without the time, money, and mess. 😊
You can do it! 🤗 So glad you like this technique! Thank you! 🤗☕💕
Lol
Excellent idea with the box fan. What I do sometimes with a stack of paper is to put my stencils between each sheet (or every other) during the drying process. That way, when they’re all dry, the stencils are already done….!!!!!
If you want to amp it up a bit, use your spray ink lightly on the stencils once you’ve laid them down and it’s even more evident
What a great idea, Janie! TFS. 😊
Great tips! Thank you for sharing! 😊
Girl, its 1:46 am in Arizona, and I'm coffee dying papers on the fan 😆! I LOVE your channel.
OMG I love it!! 😂 Thank you so much, Kathryn! 🤗☕💕
Kathryn, you are so funny. It's 1:46 am.....
Love your enthusiasm
I've been putting off coffee dying paper...I am somewhat of a beginner, and the other tutorials intimidated me. I love how you explained every step so wonderfully, I am going to do this technique today, copy paper and going to try this with index cards also. Thanks so much for sharing this ❤ hugs from South Florida ♥️
That’s awesome! Thank you so much! 😊Glad you will give this a try! I believe humidity is higher in Florida, so it may take just a little bit longer to dry. But I’m sure you’ll still like this process! Happy crafting! 🤗💫🌺
I feel the same way! She makes it super easy for us to follow and I’m here for it !! From Miami Beach here 👋🏽
@sandrasegrera4792 Thank you so much!😊 I'm so glad you like this project! 🤗
Coffee/tea dying paper is something I dislike doing so much, that I’ve been buying it instead. It took hours of standing and hours of paper covering every surface of my kitchen while drying. Obviously my technique was all wrong. Using the fan in this way is brilliant, and stacking the papers is so much better than laying individual sheets everywhere for 12 hours. Thank you! I can definitely do this method. 😊 ( new subbie!)
That's awesome! Thank you so much for subbing! 😊 I'm so glad you are here! 🤗 So happy you like this project and I can't wait to share more fun projects with you! 😊✨💕
The stencilled roses are beautiful on your paper. ❤
Thank you so much! 😊
I did this today!! I have so many lovely dyed papers now. I did use a strong tea solution because I prefer the scent more than coffee. Did a few stencils while drying also. Most of them came out great. I am blessed to have our whole basement as my creative space. So once my papers were about half dry using the box fan, I did spread them out to dry. I also made a few blue tinted pages. Tip for that: reinkers mixed in water work better than acylic paint. Thank you for this game changing video!
Wonderful! So glad you tried it out with great results! Great tip on using reinkers! I usually use water with a few drops of watercolors for my color tinted papers. Thank you for sharing! 😊👍☕✨
Doesn’t the box fan need air flowing in the back? Laying it on its back doesn’t burn it up?
@@jennifers8843 Yes, absolutely! It does need to have a good airflow. My fan has legs, so it’s not flat and gets plenty of air. I also addressed this in the video description and in the pinned comment on top. Thank you for watching! 👍
I let my stack dry by turning it once every few hours. It takes a couple seconds here and there. Also, I get designs on most pages by using stencils and a spray bottle with coffee in it. Just lay the paper down then the stencil. Spray it. Lay another piece of paper down then gently rub it. Peel the layers apart to get 2 prints. Then make a stack.
Awesome! Thank you for watching and thank you for sharing your technique! 😊👍
(j'ai fait traduire mon message écrit précédement ) . Good evening from the South of France. Thank you for this well explained method. I share with you another method for lazy people. You take a plastic tray with edges, large enough for A4 format. (You can protect your tray with cling film). You put coffee in this tray. You place your leaves (new or used or pieces, leftover cuttings) on the coffee you try to put them in a staggered manner and not one on top of the other well aligned. You add coffee on top of your leaves every 5 to 6 leaves. You move your tray so that all the leaves are soaked; In short, you do this with the number of leaves you want to make or the quantity of coffee you have. Between each sheet you can put stencils, objects, plant leaves, screws, grids, various shapes which will leave imprints (this avoids making decorations afterwards with ink...saving time) you leave all the leaves in the tray optionally you can turn over the first leaves to put them last (the first will be the last so all the leaves will have coffee. let the whole thing rest according to the density of coffee shade that you want. No risk for the leaves will not degrade...even if they are "glued" together. Do not touch them. When they are dry they will separate. If there is coffee left in your tray after letting it "rest for the color desired 10 minutes or less or more "you empty the surplus leaving the sheets in the tray. you leave the whole (sheet and stencil) to dry (outside if the weather permits) near a radiator, or fireplace in winter. In total you will need 10 minutes maximum for preparation. No need for a brush. No need for ink. When your leaves are dry they will have a pretty, more vintage edge. some will have spots, bubbles, some will look "burned". (Be careful with stencils, the sheets will take longer to dry since the stencils are plastic)
I use this method in the evening before going to bed in winter near the radiator heating and the next day I discover the magic. .It only takes up the space on your tray; .coffee can be replaced by green or black tea, colored crepe papers soaked in water, curry, beetroot, ivy, etc. etc. HAVE FUN . Looking forward to sharing. Sylvie B
Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your wonderful technique, Sylvie! I'm intrigued! I especially like the idea of using crepe paper for colors and leaves for imprints. I want to try this. How long does it take for this paper to dry indoors? Are we talking overnight or does it take days? Thank you! 😊
@@chasingpaper2022 for crepe paper, infuse pieces in a pot with water; the water will color. this water you put it in the tray as for the coffee tincture; same technique; you can let the white sheets take the color that suits you or even mix the colors. Drain excess water from the tray; leave the leaves in the tray to dry; near a fireplace or outdoor radiator; the more leaves there are, the longer the time will be; in front of a radiator in less than an hour it's dry for (5 to 6 sheets without doing anything) we have pretty colors; it's like doing "alchemy"; I hope i was clear ; You can use your method with crepe paper; remember to put stencils in between during the "coloring" you will have pretty patterns. good discovery; best wishes . Sylvie B
@@pierretreuil8543 Thank you, Sylvie!
Great idea using the ink!
Thanks, Connie! 😊☕️
One easy way that I make coffee dyed papers is to make a batch of instant coffee, put in a spray bottle and spray it on copy paper. Let it set outside until dried and that's it. I love the prints on these papers however, and that is something I want to try. Thank you so much for sharing your techniques and ideas. Love them all.
@@ellenjent4956 Thank you so much! Great tip 😊👍
This is THE best "coffee stain"/hack tutorial I have ever seen...and I've watched a LOT.😁
I have a disability w/chronic pain. Coffee & tea staining is such a chore. But it's a "must have". I have been using the "paint on" technique. But just stacking them on top of layers of paper towels in a large baking sheet. I have to monitor them, flipping the stacks, exposing the sheets in the middle, rearranging them, on & on...for days.😳
I don't have a box fan. But I do have several drying racks that stack...and a standing fan. The inks & stencils as well!🤗
Ty so much!!💗💗💗
Thank you so much! 😊 I hope this hack will make your coffee dyeing process a lot easier and more enjoyable! Take good care and Happy crafting! ❤
Although I don’t have that type of fan, I will use the oven. I love the use of painting it on, I will definitely try that
Thanks, Sophie!😊Whatever works best for you! Just wanted to mention that you don’t necessarily have to have a box fan! If you have one of the smaller tabletop or a clip-on fans, it will work too! Just place your fan on the table facing up and prop your cooling rack on two stacks of books over the fan. It will take a bit longer to dry, but will allow you to avoid using the oven 😉 Happy crafting! 🤗 ☕️💕
Wish I still had my box fan! But will improvise because that’s what junk journalers do! Wish I had radiators in my house like when I was a child! Thanks for sharing! Was happy when I saw a video of yours in my feed😊
Thank you so much, Cindy! 🤗 You don't even have to have a box fan, any fan will do! 😉 May take a bit longer to dry, though 😅 Hope you are having a great week! 😊🌸✨
Thank you for sharing a very simplified method of coffee dying. Now I feel able to handle the project.
So glad to hear it! Thank you! 😊
I have just found your channel, this is a great video, TYFS. 😊
Thanks so much! 😊 I'm so glad you discovered my channel! Welcome! 🤗
I do very similar. I have a clothes drying rack with several drying bars on top, so I place my box fan face down on it to dry everything. I also use the cooling racks balanced across the lower beams to stack the papers on. If you only need a few, you can drape them individually over the bars, and they dry in only a few minutes! I did that when I dyed with Kool-Aid to make colorful journal pages.😁
Sounds great! Thank you for sharing, Amber! 😊👍
Thank you for sharing this technique! I’m in the Midwest, and outside activities are on hold for a few more months. This is perfect for this time of year. I especially like the addition of the stenciling a design to customize the paper! 😊
Thank you! So glad you like it! 😊☕🌸
Amazing! I watched a video of how to dye paper with the soaking method and was thouroughly discouraged at how much work it was! I am SO ready to try this now! I don't think I ever would have tried the soaking method. WAY TOO much work! Also love, love, love the stenciling hack! You're ingenious!
Thank you so much, Laurie! I truly appreciate it! ❤ So glad that you liked the video and even got inspired to give it a try! Enjoy!! Happy crafting! 🤗🌺💕
Certainly am glad that you thought of using your fan. I won’t be bothering with my previous way. Now, where’s our fan….😎
Thanks, Cheryl! 😊So glad you find it helpful! Have fun! 🤗🌺
Great idea
Thank you! 😊
That is by far the most beautiful paper!
Thank you so much! 😊
Love this technique !! Thank you.
Thank you so much! So glad to hear you love it! 🤗
This is quite wonderful!! We live in PA, so doing this outside right now is not doable, like you said. This is a great alternative. And I love the idea of using stencils! I've never had good luck with doilies and plastic tablecloths. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so very much! 😊Glad it was helpful! I agree - the doilies are a hit and miss for me as well 😅Happy crafting! 🤗💫🌺
I wasn’t sold on coffee dying until I saw this. The added stencil art is gorgeous.

I also use a fan and racks because I only have the top of my washing machine to dry paper on. I don't stack mine and I don't use a box fan though. I lay 4 single sheets (2 on each rack), usually with a stencil on top of each and then I point my little desk fan right on them. All four sheets will be dry in about 10 minutes and then I dip 4 more sheets in coffee, cover with a stencil and put them on the rack in front of the fan. My washer is in the kitchen and so is my crafting area so it's easy enough to keep an eye on the paper's progress and to make more when a batch drys. I use a hair straightener or my laminating machine (with no plastic pouch) to iron my paper. I'm anxious to try stacking my papers like you do to see if it is faster than my method. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and happy crafting!
Thank you so much, Heather! I enjoyed learning your process! I hope you enjoy my technique as well! Let me know how you like it! Hugs! 🤗☕
Great idea using the fan on its side! Thanks for sharing!💕

Great process! Thanks for sharing. I have been using a brush to apply the coffee for awhile but had never considered using my box fan. I will give your process a try. This summer I found some stacked sweater drying racks and have been using them to dry my paper. The racks cut down on my needed drying space.
Thank you, Katherine! 😊 Great tip on using a drying rack! 👍 Thanks for sharing!

Great idea! I didn’t like using my oven as it dried out my paper too much and some even burned a bit. This is much safer.
Very helpful. I also put the coffee or tea in a spray bottle for a different look. Add a few drops of alcohol to prevent spoilage.
Thank you, Laura! Great tip! 😊👍
Thank you the great tips about adding the alcohol
I'm in the UK and I have a 9 tray food dehydrator. Sometimes I dry my papers in there or I'll just spray a few (I use a cat litter tray) when I think about it and just lay them on the trays to dry without turning it on.
Herb drying racks are a popular way to dry papers too
Great tips! Thanks for sharing! 😊👍
Best tip in the video is the use of Gathered Twigs ink. So much better than Vintage Photo for making a color match. Thankyou.

it smells so nice after its dried - and when I iron it, very fun.

Box fan is a great idea! I hang mine on a wooden drying rack with a fan in the room, but I will sure give this a try
That’s a great idea as well! 👍Thank you for sharing! 😊☕️🌸
I like this idea. I will have to use two oven racks to sandwich my papers and elevate the racks up on 4 large cans of tomatoes with a trash bag underneath to protect my floor. My fans are packed away for Winter but I have a standard small fan which I can use to blow across and under the paper. I'll just set up in a corner and forget it for the day. Thank you.
Thank you, Marilyn! 😊 That's a great idea! I've sandwiched my cookie racks as well 👍 I used Dollar Tree clamps to hold them together. This way it's easy to rearrange your papers to speed up the drying process. It works without a fan as well, especially good for those who have radiators 😉 Happy crafting! 🤗
I’m so happy I just saw this video. I put together last night a foot bath of all the envelopes papers everything I wanted to die with coffee. This is gonna be my try tomorrow. Thank you thank you thank you.
That's awesome! Glad I had a perfect timing with this video! 🤗 Thank you! 😊
They look pretty
Thank you! 😊
I have been known to put my papers in the clothes dryer. Lol, they will need ironing afterwards. when I made handmade papers I would press each piece onto the sliding glass door to dry, nice and flat.
The tumble dryer??? Seriously? Not when they're at the soggy stage or they'd fall to pieces wouldn't they? I never thought of the tumble dryer..... explanation please! 😁😁😁
Yeah, don't put them in soggy, partially wet.
They dry really fast in the tumbler, they separate themselves. Really saves time.but like I said they'll need to be ironed.

Great ideas! I do mine in the oven until almost dry..then I put them underneath a hot pizza stone to flatten and finish drying at the same time. Works great.
Great tip! Thanks for sharing!
Dying and staining with coffee grinds is an old old technique. I’ve used it to re stain an old school desk that had a fresh deep scratch. Grinds are good for your houseplants too.

Great idea & wonderfully simplified tutorial! Great job!
Thank you so much! 😊 I appreciate that! 🤗
Terrific, much easier and much less mess
Thank you! I think so too 😊 Glad you like it! ☕️💕✨
This is great idea, I've dried many other ways of doing this, it was very messy. I will have to buy a box fan. Thankyou for this tutorial.
Thanks, Debbie! So glad you liked it! You don't even have to have a box fan! If you have a sanding fan or a clip-on fan, you can place a second cooling rack on top of your papers, clip two racks together with clamps or clip binders, then place your cooling rack "sandwich" vertically in front of your fan 😉 Happy crafting! 🤗🌺

@@chasingpaper2022 You’re welcome!!
