I remember watching this trailer for the first time way back in 2014. I was in 8th grade at the time and I was super hyped for Halo 5. Arbiter was coming back and this mysterious brand new spartan character setting out to find Master Chief. Had a sort of no nonsense silent/deadly apppeal. We did not know who he was and he didn't speak at all. (At least in this trailer). Some of us thought he could have been the Rookie from ODST or Noble 6 from Reach. (His death always seemed more assumed. We never actually saw him die. He was knocked to the ground and the elite zealot raised his energy dagger and went for the killing blow as the gold elite's foot was blocking the view. Many of us thought that gold elite could have been the Arbiter Thel Vadamee before he became the Arbiter, as he was Supreme Commander of The Fleet of Particular Justice at that time, and his fleet was mainly responsible for the destruction of Reach as well as several other human planets. He was also known to deploy into ground battles with his fellow troops and in Halo 2 he is shown to have gold armor in the beginning. He could have ordered Noble 6 to be captured.) There was so much potential to build off of Halo 4's storyline....unfortunately 343 industries took 3 steps forward and 43 steps backwards.

The trailer and the hunt for the truth got a lot of potential and a fantastic story. They just screwed it up. The writers for halo 5 story line did a very bad job. Halo 4 campaign story is pure gold when compared to the halo 5 campaign story.
It really was Microsoft that screwed the pooch badly. What I heard happens was this: the halo 4 writers wrote up a campaign, and apparently it was “too dark”. Microsoft fired all the writers and put new ones in and basically forced them to rush a plot within a year before the games release, thus resulting in disaster.

HOWEVER. There is a possibility, for the single reason alone that Halsey said that Spartans never die, and low and behold, Chief's alive and well in the Forward Unto Dawn's wreckage. Perhaps they'll make an official Noble Six by the name of Locke and have him return from the grave. Or it's a customizable Noble Six again, and the default name is Locke and it's said like that in the cutscenes. And we saw a new helmet, yes? Well Six's helmet is on a teraformed (or glassed) Reach, so the new helmet makes sense.
HOWEVER, this is most likely not the case, because we saw Six die, we saw his helmet on the terraformed (or glassed) Reach, and because they would probably say his full Spartan code name (the numbers) instead of Locke, as Noble Six's past is shrouded in mystery, possibly even to him, thus making it more like you, the player, are Six.

But what if Locke is Noble 6's real name? We've never heard his name besides people calling him Noble 6.. Maybe on the intro to halo reach it says Locke on the folder that noble 6 was holding.. You never know.
Doision The point of Noble Six was to make him the player, which is why you can customize him and the like, and why he has pretty much the most classified information known to man. Locke however, was in a previous game that wasn't Reach, whereas Six was immediately taken out of Beta Company when he was put there for training, and thus becoming the Hyper Lethal Vector we know now through training and secret missions.
Essentially, you ARE Noble Six. Locke however, was an actual character.

Please just get rid of the load outs and care packages this time really just return to the simply and fair gameplay style of halo 3 were you had to FIND the good guns and power ups remember the power drainer, bubble shield, regenerator, tech mine, and radar jammer it was about skill and camping sometimes with the shotgun beside that the game had a fair play style and you didn't start out with the gun you wanted it was the one giving to you to see what you could do whether you were great or you sucked with it.
I'm honestly sick and tired of these halo fanboys complaining that 343 should stick to their roots. (like halo 3 for instant) Why? ya sure it was a great game but people are still gonna bitch. This is the reason why I stopped gaming because gamers constantly bitch at something.

I really hope most of the campaign is settled around Locke looking for Chief via 'Halo 3: ODST' style detective snooping plus some large scale battles and then flashes of Chief's POV as he's wandering around doing what he does.
The Arbiter alone is a good enough reason to buy a X1,Halo master chief collection and of course Halo 5.

All I can say is that my least favorite is Halo 2. Halo combat evolved is one of the best that for sure.
I like halo reach better story-wise, and being able to customize your guy in the campaign was frigging sweet, but I feel halo 4 is better overall. Being able to sprint whenever, master chief, better graphics, (yea I know they don't matter, just a nice touch) I spent a ton of time in multiplayer and spartan ops as well.

Fucking kids these days. All they care about is multiplayer. Kids today spend 60+ dollars on the same washed-up video game every damned year with the sole intention of tea-bagging people and masturbating to kill streaks. Give them anything requiring them to stop and think or follow a plot and they just shut down. This generation is completely missing the point of video gaming. Sure, I enjoy playing online, but the best part of video gaming for me is the story. Online multiplayer will never make or break a game for me. Sure, Halo 4's multiplayer is worse than the original trilogy, but the boring campaign is why i don't like it as much as previous Halos. Halo 2 is one of my favorite games of all time because the story was great, the campaign was interesting. Games with a good story and immersion are the best kinds. You feel like your watching a movie, except your controlling the character, your in the movie. When video games first got popular, it was just arcade games that were fun and technologically advanced. Games like Tetris or Pac-Man, even the original Marios, they were just moving pixels on a screen. You didn't know anything. Why was the yellow chomping thing trying to eat all the dots? But as technology evolved, people started wanting more. To me, a good solid story will always be the best part of gaming. Games that make you cry, or that you still think about weeks after you finished, or connect with you on a personal level. I guess that's considered lame or stupid in this generation, because kids these days just want to run around and blow shit up. I was born in 2000, yet the culture and interests of kids my age and kids just 4 years younger than me is astoundingly mindblowing.

Well, that is your opinion and I respect that. However, what you're missing is that people play video games for different reasons. For example, I simply wish to be entertained, be it through a gripping story or mindlessly destroying everything in sight. You do have some good points, but in the end you mock 'this generation' not because their views are 'stupid', but because you cannot sympathize with them. I got hit with nostalgia so hard in that opening scene with Chief and the bomb. It didn't even take me a second to realize that it was a cutscene from like the first level of Halo 2. That was an awesome integration.

They took a lot from Titanfall and even some features from Halo to make a last ditch effort to polish that turd. After Activision tried to screw Infinity Ward's entire staff out of their well deserved bonus, causing the talent to flock away, CoD died.
Cod really doesn't expand. If anything it is already done. There are so many other, better options here now and in the future that it is hard to keep cod in the picture.

Hear hear. Halo: Combat Evolved when I was 11, playing it at my friend's hous and then at christmas I got an Xbox Crystal and Halo 2 bundle and used the money I got from family to buy Halo: CE for my own.
Pro Tip: If you start playing Halo CE in the new collection the pistol is the strongest all around gun in the game aside from power weapons always use the pistol.

6 things 343 needs to add in Halo 5 Gaurdians:
1.) Bring back the Army ranking system
2.) Add Spartan Ops with more cinematic (like have your spartan(s) in the cutscenes)
3.) Bring Back Firefight
4.) Bring back the following things: Needle Rifle, Plasma/Grenade launcher, SMG, (suppressed and unsuppressed) Incendiary grenades, Spike grenades, Falcon/Hornet, flamethrower mauler, brutes (campaign), the flood (campaign), and armor lock.
5.) Play as an Elite on Multiplayer
6.) Make your Armor Permutations more customizable like in Reach and create your own emblem.

So, the new character is Agent Locke, he works for ONI, he is a NEW character so he's not Jun or Noble 6, he will be a playable character in halo 5, confirmed by 343, he is also the main character in the Halo Nightfall series that will come out next month. I wrote this because reading through the comments makes me realize that most people don't know this simple info, so here you guys go.

Everyone is saying that they are cautious about this game because of the way Halo 4 turned out. I agree, BUT, if anything was proved from the last generation of halo, it was that Bungie, and yes, 343, know how to please fans, and are always evolving and changing their game to what we as fans want. Reluctantly or not, I'm putting my faith in this installment because I'm with 343 and their potential as a developer. I played the absolute shit out of all the Halo's except the first one, and as a long time fan, I'm definitely excited. It's clear that they're making chief out to be some kind of legend (NOT undeserved) and I think that the game will play from the new spartan's POV and end with him/her finding the Chief and informing him of the crisis at hand (whatever that may be). I think Chief has gone hermit, and he was wandering looking for new purpose in the old halo trailer (with him walking in the sand planet).

You're a fan, of course you're thrilled about 343's next Halo title. There's nothing wrong with that mind you, it's just be prepared for expectations to get crushed in the event something unexpected happens. The new parts shown in this trailer are referencing the all new cutscenes in the collection, which do link up with Halo 5, but this is not a trailer for that.

Halo ended in Halo reach! I tell you reason who Halo 4 wasn't all that good. Without going into too much detail, the gameplay isn't very innovative. The levels are a little repetitive (ie. every level is like, okay here's your goal, and as soon as you do your goal, for some reason a bunch of new enemies spawn for no reason to block you from goal number 2 and then that'll happen a bunch of times, even though it'll all be in the same room, so it feels contrived and boring). The plot made no sense, and it plot was incredibly lackluster compared to Halo 3 and Halo Reach. They tried to make it a character piece without actually putting in much character development and then just kinda threw in saving earth at the end even though almost nobody lives on earth anymore.) Annndd... they crapped on all the lore they built up over the previous games (ie. the "elites" are still villains even though they became good guys, there's no Brutes in the game, suddenly there are more Spartans even though it's only been a few years, and for some reason some of them are on desk jobs instead of being in the field).
The crappy Halo ended with Reach. Lol

What do you mean the halo story ends on reach??? The story of Halo begins on reach and it can't just end Bungie knew this and that's why they handed it over to 343 because they needed to focus on other games (Destiny) but Bungie still had a lot more of a story than where they ended.

I think that part of the story takes place of the elite home world, and lock goes the the there to get the arbiter on his side. Cause we all remember the end of halo 3 when the arbiter says we are going home after he boards the elite ship

halo 4 did not feel like a halo game as much as halo 1-3 reach was ok. but that old feeling that no one can describe is gone. and i hope halo 5 brings that back i really miss

I know what you mean. I think the reason we don't feel that with halo 4 is the music. Every thing was Ok with halo 4, especially the graphics, except the music. Idk Why but I didn't get that sad feeling with the music from the other halos. The reason is that when 343 took over halo they also changed the music composer. It isn't Martin O'Donnell anymore but some other dude.

It's funny how this trailer tells us more about Locke character without him even spoke words.
In the trailer he carefully observes all recording of Chief, without impatience or incompetence. He doesn't need to say something, he only wants so see how to hunt down a legend. And Locke listens to Arbiter without interapting him.
So we in this trailer have cold, smart hunter who is studying his prey.
That's why I liked Locke and wanted to see more of him but ppl just complained about alot and we'll never see him again😒

I see people commenting on how bad Halo 4 was and... Really? I liked 4, for what it gave us. The storyline was great, focused on a more dramatic story rather than a complete survival like the other Halo's (tho the survival is still there, thank god). For me, it was better than the third (turd). A complete backfire of Halo 2, with poor combat system in the campaign, crappy sound effect (oh my god the assault rifle sounds like an airsoft) and ok graphics for the time. But I have to admit, story-wise, it's a table turner, a main pillar in polishing the universe we know and love (and is the only reason I still play it).
And multiplayer-wise, I love Halo 4! So much to do and try! The mechanics were scrapped and changed for the better in my opinion. For Halo 3, it was great, no denying it, and the choice between elite and spartan was a nice touch (that and the katana).
My only hope is a return to the roots, a game more like Halo 2 (all-time best game in storyline and gameplay in the franchise) for the fifth installment. Fingers crossed!
cedric rainville Well, if the multiplayer beta was any indication, then I think we may be in good hands. It includes features that are new to Halo (i.e. Thruster Pack, Clambering, etc.), but it feels like a more natural progression of how the gameplay should've gone post-Halo 3. That's my opinion at least.
I agree, I know a game like Halo must have a decent story, but I personally think most people will play the multiplayer more than focus on the story. Everyone is complaining "Halo 4's story is horrible," but they still play online. To me, I thought it was simple unlike COD or other games like that. Not alot of pressure playing it because you can actually get good in a short period of time. Amazing graphics and animations for sure are important. Halo 5 is gonna be really great I can tell, especially since its on the Xbox One. Even if they mess up the story, I'm sure it's gonna be huge in sales

The Spartan in the video is NOT Noble 6, he is Agent Locke confirmed to be a brand new character for Halo 5 and Halo: Nightfall.
Master Chief is confirmed to be playable in this game so he is most likely not dead, though the gameplay of him may be flashbacks so it is unknown if he is actually dead (HIGHLY doubted) at this point.

Master chief without his armor is super human, he can turn over a flipped banshee or a tank. The book said something like if a normal person tried to use the same suit it would break joints/bones by simply moving an arm or leg because its calibrated to be too fast or have too much force that it beats normal human durability, I think.
We need stronger bones just to handle the movements of the armor itself

I think that after Cortana died Chief became insane and started killing innocents and doing all this crazy stuff. So they sent this guy Agent Locke to stop him before he does something horrible. That's the most possible theory I can think off right now.

OR, he's just looking for a way to get Cortana back, and ONI is playing clean-up with all of the crap they did during the the three-decade war (like kidnapping kids for the Spartan-II program), and wiping out the Spartan-II's is one way they'll be doing that.
